Kylesa was formed in 2001 in Savannah (USA) by former members of the heavy underground band Damad with the addition of guitar player Laura Pleasants who was attending the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Phillip Cope and Pleasants are the sole original members and are also the group’s visionaries and songwriters. Originating as a sort of punk / metal / sludge hybrid, Kylesa quickly began to incorporate psychedelic elements into their sound which only expanded throughout their career.

Experimentation has always been a big part of the Kylesa formula. Tuning the guitars extremely low while incorporating hooky melodies and trippy guitar effects was a common denominator for the band. From the beginning, the goal was to push the boundaries of heavy music without holding to one specific genre. Elements of shoegaze, psychedelic rock, indie and cold wave can be found within the sludgy walls of the band. But to simply call them a sludge band would be incorrect. Kylesa sound like no other and are trailblazers in the heavy rock / psych metal / stoner, etc scenes, creating a style and sound uniquely their own while setting a path for many to follow.

Journalist David Peisner of Spin described them as "dark psych-metal titans," practicing an "aggressive, but with a hazy, stoner vibe that suggests a strange amalgamation of Black Sabbath, Black Flag, and early Pink Floyd."

Kylesa recorded 7 studio albums which were primarily produced by Cope along with a handful of 7”s and EPs. In 2016 after their 7th studio album Exhausting Fire, the band went on an indefinite hiatus. Cope and Pleasants went on to form other projects: Oakskin (Cope) and The Discussion (Pleasants).

Self Titled Album Shipping Now + UPDATES

We’ve started shipping the Self Titled reissues this week. We’re shipping out single orders first followed by combination orders. Please be patient as it’s only two people packing the orders in the evenings after the work day is over! We have some important updates so please read everything below! Regarding some of the overseas combination orders — Our SHOP, Bigcartel, does not calculate a weight based shipping policy which makes it VERY hard if not impossible to calculate exact shipping when it comes to combining more than two items. Because of this, some of the far away places like Japan, Australia and Indonesia have incorrect shipping amounts. Generally speaking, if you ordered 3 items or more, the weight jumps to 3lbs and thus gets considerably more expensive to ship anywhere overseas. We apologize and will contact you directly if you fall into this category. PLEASE be on the lookout for our email to you! Anyone in Japan, especially.  SHIRT COMBO UPDATE: We had some unfortunate printing problems with the shirts which will set us back another couple of weeks. So sorry for this but quality is top priority — we sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding.  Additionally, we’ve worked out a small distribution deal in Europe with Evil Greed Merch out of Germany. They should be receiving 100 black copies very soon. When that happens, we’ll send links and info to purchase. Shipping to Europe from the US is very expensive and we’re so glad that we were able to find a solid European Distro to carry some vinyl. Domestically, we just shipped a handful of black vinyl to some friend’s stores and distros. They either already have them or will have them next week:@ironlungrecords @sorrystate @revelationrecords @vinylfantasybk @extremenoisempls @graveface_sav Black Smoke (limited to 300) can be found via https://shop.brooklynvegan.com/products/kylesa-kylesa-lp-limited-edition-only-300-made-clear-w-black-smoke-vinyl?_pos=1&_sid=0caa072f7&_ss=r Other color vinyl and black vinyl : KylesaMusic.Bandcamp.com Shirt combinations, color and black vinyl:Kylesa.Bigcartel.com

Thanks for the support and interest in an album that is 21 years old!

THE HIDDEN HAND, KYLESA Tour Dates Announced

In advance of the February 20 release of their third full-length release, "The Resurrection of Whiskey Foote" , Maryland's THE HIDDEN HAND will be assaulting masses across the U.S. showcasing some of the new material. Joining the doomsters on the road will be KYLESA , making the shows even more worth seeing if you're in driving, subway or hitchhiking distance from any of the spots on the tour.

"The Resurrection of Whiskey Foote" is the third HIDDEN HAND full-length (second from Southern Lord ) and features the lineup that recorded the now sold-out/out-of-print "Devoid of Color" EP from last year: Scott "Wino" Weinrich (guitars, vocals), Bruce Falkinburg (bass) and Evan Tanner (drums).

"The Resurrection of Whiskey Foote" is not necessarily a concept album but it is heavily layered with historical story-based lyricism and themse. Musically there is a subtle southern or classic rock vibe (ala killer slide playing from Wino and even some harp by Michael Anthony Miller ) that creeps into the foundation of their brand of dark, heavy, progressive rock.

Shortly after the album was finished, Evan Tanner left the band and was replaced by Matt Moulis ( MEDIC , BISON ). A European tour is being planned for April.

THE HIDDEN HAND 's new track "Someday Soon" can be downloaded at this location .

Sludge Hardcore Metal - United States

Kylesa Band

KYLESA are about to deliver their seventh album, ‘Exhausting Fire’. In its current incarnation the band from Savannah, Georgia in the United States is made up of Phillip Cope, Laura Pleasants, and Carl McGinley. Their live show will still see the Americans as a five piece including a second drummer.

‘Exhausting Fire’ provides a crowning example of the positive output that comes at the hands of their incendiary and powerful, yet nuanced and colourful framework. Following on the heels of the challenging ‘Ultraviolet’ (2013) and keeping this band’s tradition of artistic broad jumps that they have exhibited since forming in 2001, ‘Exhausting Fire’ hurls even more rulebook pages out the tour van window. KYLESA further explore and incorporate psychedelic rock, new wave, space-age twangy Americana, 80s goth and death rock into their pitch-thick DIY punk/metal roots. ‘Exhausting Fire’ easily representing the most diverse, dynamic and fully-realized work of their discography.

In writing ‘Exhausting Fire’, KYLESA found themselves culling inspirations before getting together in various permutations at various times to wade through the amassed collections of riffs and ideas stockpiled before, during and after the punishing ‘Ultraviolet’ tour schedule. ‘Exhausting Fire’ strikes the listener with the infinitely comfortable and confident sounding manner by which the co-vocalists emerge working as more integrative unit.

Captured at the familiar confines of the Jam Room in Columbia, South Carolina, ‘Exhausting Fire’ witnesses the trio immersing themselves deeper into themselves and their own process by refusing to hire an outside producer to assume Cope’s position. In fact, he reports having additional engineering duties dropped into his production seat, and spending more hours than ever working behind the board. In that sense, it is not difficult to take KYLESA at their word when Philip describes Exhausting Fire as “an album we really put our hearts on our sleeves for. We’ve always done that, but emotionally, it’s probably the most honest and raw album we’ve ever done.”

“No band sounds like us and we don’t sound like any other band”, concludes Laura. “After all these years of experimenting with different styles and sounds, we’ve really developed our own thing and I can faithfully say that we sound like us. With this album, we’ve successfully made a record that incorporates all the elements we’ve always played with into a record that works on its own.”

  • Phillip Cope : guitar, vocals
  • Laura Pleasants : guitar, vocals
  • Carl McGinley : drums

This band is no longer active on Season of Mist.

Nicknamed ‘the project’ in college, kurt kitayama blossomed into a pga tour winner at 2023 arnold palmer invitational, share this article.

kylesa tour 2023

Kurt Kitayama sensed his grip on the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard title slipping from his grasp. He had just hooked his tee shot out of bounds at the ninth hole at Bay Hill Lodge & Club in the final round on March 5, 2023, and suffered a triple bogey. The lead, which he had owned almost since the start, had evaporated and he suddenly trailed by a stroke.

“I thought I had lost it,” he recounted in late January.

Seeking his first PGA Tour victory, Kitayama couldn’t help wondering if, as he put it, “here we go again,” and in his head questioned, “Am I ever going to win out here?” But Kitayama silenced that negativity and righted the ship. He carded eight hard-earned pars and a clutch birdie at 17 on the back nine to shoot even-par 72 and outlast co-runner-ups Rory McIlroy and Harris English, among a star-studded leaderboard, by a single stroke to take home the biggest victory of his career.

“Look at him, look at his smile,” caddie Tim Tucker told reporters afterwards. “He got the monkey off his back, proving he can play with the big boys.”

A never-give-up attitude has been a key ingredient in Kitayama’s rise through the golf ranks. He first started playing golf at age 5, tagging along after his older brother, who would go on to play college golf at Hawaii-Hilo. “I just loved it,” he said, noting that what initially put him on the map was his success at the 2009 Junior Worlds at Torrey Pines in San Diego, where he shot 3 under in the third round to grab the lead.

“I got to the first tee for the final round and I looked around and saw all these college coaches watching me,” Kitayama recalled. “I was like, ‘Whoa.’ That was eye-opening.”

From Chico High in the northern Sacramento Valley, where he starred in both basketball and golf, Kitayama joined UNLV’s golf program. His game, however, was raw in comparison to his teammates when he showed up at UNLV in 2011, where they called Kitayama “The Project.”

“I don’t think he was very good at anything,” said J.C. Deacon, men’s golf coach at the University of Florida and Kitayama’s swing coach since 2017.

Back then, Deacon was an assistant at UNLV during Kitayama’s four years there and recalled that Kitayama could barely break 75 upon his arrival. Then-coach Dwaine Knight recognized his potential and loved his grit.

“He just worked so hard,” Deacon continued. “You tell him something to do and he’d be out there for 10 hours doing it. He always outworked whatever you asked of him.”

That tenacity and perseverance served Kitayama well when he struggled on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2017 and instead went seeking a place to play wherever that happened to take him. Fellow aspiring pro and current PGA Tour member David Lipsky suggested he give the Asian Tour a shot.

“I figured why not,” Kitayama said.

The 31-year-old Kitayama has taken the road less traveled to success in the professional ranks, playing tournaments on 14 different tours worldwide while steadily improving his game.

2018 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

“Not finding success early here was, yeah, it’s disappointing, but it took me somewhere else to grow,” he said. “And it was growing more than just in golf, really. You get to experience the different cultures, travel. I mean, you find yourself in some interesting spots. Places that you probably wouldn’t ever go, so, I think just as a person I was able to grow.”

He won in far-flung locales such as an Asian Development Tour event in Malaysia and the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in December 2018 and the Oman Open in March 2019, becoming the fastest player to win twice in DP World Tour history (only 11 career starts). But the dream always was to get back to the PGA Tour. When Kitayama did, he finished second on three different occasions in 2022, getting pipped by three top-10 players in the world: Jon Rahm at the Mexico Open, Xander Schauffele at the Scottish Open and Rory McIlroy at the CJ Cup.

In the final round at Arnie’s Place, Kitayama buckled but refused to break.

He built a two-stroke lead with three birdies in his first seven holes, including rolling in a 46-footer at seven. But on the ninth hole, he tugged his tee shot left and it stopped out of bounds by six inches, leading to a triple bogey. That knocked him down to 8 under for the tournament, behind new co-leaders Jordan Spieth and Tyrrell Hatton at 9 under. On the long walk to the 10th tee, Kitayama told Tucker, who was working for him for just his third event, that he didn’t feel rattled.

“You look good, and we’re gonna just keep chugging along and we’ll get it back,” said Tucker, who had been on the bag for Bryson DeChambeau when he won the API in 2021.

Trailing Kitayama by four shots at the start of the day, Spieth birdied four of his first five holes. He claimed the lead at 10-under-par with a birdie putt at the par-4 13th from just inside 15 feet, giving him 120 feet of made putts. But then the magic disappeared, and Spieth missed four straight putts inside 8 feet from the 14th through the 17th holes and made three bogeys in that four-hole span. He ended up signing for 70 and a tie for fourth.

“I wouldn’t have hit any of the putts differently,” Spieth said.

Hatton, winner of the API in 2020, blamed his putter, too, for his demise.

“I just didn’t have it today on the greens in the end when I kind of needed it most,” he said.

Scheffler, the defending champion, was one back with wedge in his hand from the fairway at 18 but made bogey to finish at 7-under and share fourth with Spieth.

McIlroy, who won this tournament in 2018, had an inauspicious start with two early bogeys but rallied with birdies at Nos. 12 and 13 to take the lead at 9 under. However, he still thought he trailed and tried an aggressive line at the par-3 14th. It backfired and he made the first of consecutive bogeys to slip back.

“As I was walking to the 14th green, I looked behind me at the scoreboard, and I was leading by one. And if I had known that I wouldn’t have tried to play the shot that I played on 14, which was unfortunate,” said McIlroy, who shot 70 and missed a 10-foot birdie putt that could have forced a playoff.

2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational

When Kitayama arrived at 14 and eyed the leaderboard, he learned he was tied for the lead and had a very different response than McIlroy. “I’m still in this,” he thought. Galvanized, he stretched his par streak to seven in a row although the last of the bunch was a three-putt from 56 feet at the par-5 16th. The API’s first year as a signature event lived up to the hype and seemed destined to be headed for a wild playoff with a five-way tie at the top with just three holes to play, until Kitayama took care of business. Tied for the lead, he stepped up at the 217-yard, par 3 17th and drilled a 6-iron to 14 feet like it was a Tuesday practice round.

“I just ripped it and it started leaking a little right, but I hit it good enough to cover and it was perfect,” said Kitayama, who finished with a 72-hole aggregate of 9-under 279.

He poured in the birdie putt and was tagged with his latest nickname, this time from TV analyst Paul Azinger, who described him as a junkyard dog feasting on a bone.

Kitayama had to grind out one more par at 18. As he walked off the tee after pulling his tee shot into the rough, he had the self-awareness to realize he was walking too fast.

“I was like, slow down,” he recalled. “J.C. was on the putting green earlier and he said, ‘You know, just relax and just make sure to take some deep breaths and walk slow.’ So I thought of that and I was able to recognize it, luckily, and just kind of calm down.”

From a jumper lie, Kitayama lofted an 8-iron safely on the left side of the green, 47 feet from the hole. On a day at Bay Hill where the greens became so baked that players complained of little friction, Kitayama needed two putts for the win and lagged his birdie effort inches short.

“I felt a huge relief because I couldn’t mess it up from there,” he said, cracking a smile.

Kitayama was a winner at last, slipping into the champion’s red cardigan sweater that he later framed and gave to his parents. As for the trophy?

Kitayama kept that for himself and has it positioned in his bedroom for maximum viewing.

2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational one and done picks, field, sleepers: PGA Tour predictions, golf betting advice

Mike mcclure locked in his expert pga one and done golf picks, rankings and top sleepers for the arnold palmer invitational 2024 at arnold palmer's bay hill club & lodge in orlando.

hovland.jpg

Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando will be the site of a PGA Tour signature event this week with the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational set to tee off on Thursday. Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy headline the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational field. Scheffler is the 6-1 betting favorite in the latest 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational odds. Other top contenders include McIlroy (17-2), Viktor Hovland (12-1), Xander Schauffele (14-1), Patrick Cantlay (16-1), Ludvig Åberg (20-1), Jordan Spieth (20-1), and Collin Morikawa (20-1). Defending tournament champion Kurt Kitayama is listed as an 80-1 longshot. The total 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational purse is $20 million, with the winner's share listed as $4 million.

Scheffler won this event in 2022 and has a proven track record against elite fields. Should he be among your top targets in One and Done pools this week? Or should you target someone like Matt Fitzpatrick, Adam Scott, or Sungjae Im? Before locking in your 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational one and done picks, you need to see what SportsLine DFS pro and PGA expert Mike McClure has to say .

The One and Done format is growing in popularity. It has several noticeable similarities to NFL Survivor pools, with the main difference being entries are not eliminated with a bad week. Players pick one golfer per week and earn points based on their selected golfer's prize money for that tournament. Golfers can only be used once per season, and the point format makes nailing majors, signature events, and big money tournaments critical.

McClure is a DFS legend with over $2 million in career winnings, and he's been red-hot on his PGA picks dating back to the PGA Tour restart in June of 2020. McClure uses his proprietary simulation model to analyze the field and crush his  golf picks .

McClure nailed plenty of One and Done picks in 2023. At the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open, McClure's top One and Done pick, Max Homa, outlasted the entire field to take home his sixth career PGA Tour victory and $1.566 million. At the WM Phoenix Open, McClure nailed Scheffler winning the tournament, taking home $3.6 million.

He correctly called Jon Rahm's wins at The Masters and the Sentry Tournament of Champions. Then at the RBC Canadian Open McClure listed Nick Taylor and Tyrrell Hatton as two of his top one and done picks. Taylor would go on to win the tournament, while Hatton finished in third place. And finally, at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, his top OAD pick was eventual tournament champion Rickie Fowler.

This season, one of his top OAD picks was for The American Express was Justin Thomas, who finished in third place and took home $635,600, and at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am his top pick was Scottie Scheffler, who finished in sixth place after the final round was cancelled due to weather. At the WM Phoenix Open, McClure recommended OAD players use Scheffler as their pick if they hadn't done so already this season. He ended up finishing in third place, taking home $519,200. At the Genesis Invitational, McClure tabbed Patrick Cantlay, who finished in fourth place at the signature event, as his top OAD pick. Finally, at last week's Cognizant Classic, McClure's top one and done pick, Min Woo Lee, finished in a tie for second place.

Now, McClure has dialed in on the Arnold Palmer Invitational golf tournament and just locked in his one and done picks and PGA predictions. They are a must-see for any player looking for an edge in their One and Done pool. You can only see McClure's Arnold Palmer Invitational 2024 one and done picks at SportsLine .

Top 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational One and Done picks

One of McClure's top one and done plays this week for the Arnold Palmer is Viktor Hovland. The 26-year-old is the reigning FedEx Cup champion, with six career PGA Tour wins on his resume. He has a well-rounded game that translates to success on practically any course layout. McClure believes he has a very good chance at winning again this week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Hovland has consistently ranked near the top of the PGA Tour in several key metrics. The Norwegian has a relatively small sample size for 2024, but in 2023 Hovland ranked fifth on the PGA Tour in strokes gained tee-to-green (1.412) and total driving, eighth in total strokes gained (1.648) and strokes gained off-the-tee (0.741), and 11th in strokes gained on approach (0.610). McClure knows Hovland excels against top flight fields and expects him to be in contention this week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.  You can see who else to back at SportsLine .

How to make Arnold Palmer Invitational 2024 One and Done picks

McClure is also targeting another golfer for his 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational one and done picks who was outstanding throughout the 2023 season. This former major championship winner has the ability to win any tournament he enters, and is one of the most talented golfers in this wide open field. You can find out who it is, and check out all of McClure's Arnold Palmer Invitational one and done picks at SportsLine .

Who wins the the Arnold Palmer Invitational 2024, and which golfers should you target for your PGA one and done picks this week? Visit SportsLine now to get Mike McClure's Arnold Palmer Invitational 2024 one and done picks, all from the DFS pro who called Nick Taylor's epic win at the RBC Canadian Open and Rickie Fowler's win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in 2023 , and find out.

2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

A fter a Monday finish at the Cognizant Classic, it'll be a quick turnaround for players also teeing it up in the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational , the 1st of 2 consecutive Signature Events on the PGA Tour calendar. One of the premier tournaments on the schedule, the Arnold Palmer Invitational returns to Bay Hill Club and Lodge in Orlando, Fla., for another star-studded week.

Below, we look at the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions .

The best players in the sport will take on Bay Hill this week, including World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and 2018 champion  Rory McIlroy . Scheffler is the betting favorite at +650, followed by McIlroy (+1000). Patrick Cantlay , Viktor Hovland and Xander Schauffele are all tied for the 3rd-best odds at +1400. The defending champion, Kurt Kitayama , is +6600 to win this week and go back-to-back.

Bay Hill is a par 72 and plays at 7,466 yards, always ranking as one of the most difficult courses on tour. In the last 4 years, the winning score has only been better than 9-under par once, which was when Bryson DeChambeau won at 11-under par in 2021.

Arnold Palmer Invitational – Expert picks

Odds provided by BetMGM Sportsbook ; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Monday at 7:12 p.m. ET.

Cameron Young (+2800)

Young seems to be on the verge of his 1st PGA Tour victory, finishing T-3 at the Cognizant Classic on Monday. It was his 2nd top-10 in his last 3 starts, finishing T-16 or better in all 3 of his last 3 tournaments. He's only played this tournament twice but he finished 13th and 10th in the last 2 years. A terrific ball-striker, Young is a perfect fit for this course.

Matt Fitzpatrick (+2800)

Fitzpatrick started the Cognizant Classic with a double-bogey on his 2nd hole but followed it up with an eagle on the 3rd. He finished T-21 thanks to a strong putting week, and he still ranked 43rd in SG: approach. Fitz has played this event every year since 2016 and has missed the cut only once, finishing 27th or better in the other 7 years with 4 top-10s and 6 top-15s.

Jordan Spieth (+1800)

The last time we saw Spieth, he was disqualified from the Genesis Invitational for signing for the wrong score. He was playing well at the time and already has 2 top-6 finishes this season. In his 2 starts at this event, he finished 4th each time (2021 and 2023), so he's navigated Bay Hill well in recent years.

Arnold Palmer Invitational picks – Contenders

Corey conners (+6600).

Bay Hill is a ball-striker's course, and that's exactly what Conners is. Though he hasn't cracked the top 20 yet this season, he ranks 22nd on tour in strokes gained: tee-to-green. Now is the time to buy Conners, who has finished 21st, 11th and 3rd in his past 3 starts at the API.

Keegan Bradley (+5500)

Bradley must love this event because he's played it 12 times since 2011, making the cut 11 times with 4 top-10s and 5 top-25s. In the last 3 years, he's finished T-10, T-11 and T-10, so he seems to have figured out the secret to Bay Hill. Before missing the cut at Riviera, he finished 11th at Pebble Beach and lost in a playoff at the Sony Open.

Sungjae Im (+6600)

It's shocking to see Im's odds this long, especially at an event he frequently plays. Since 2019, these are his finishes at Bay Hill: 3rd, 3rd, 21st, 20th and 21st. He missed the cut at PGA National last week and hasn't finished better than T-44 since the American Express, which is the reason for his long odds, but he's a horse for this course and could get back on track here.

Arnold Palmer Invitational picks – Long shots

Christiaan bezuidenhout (+8000).

Bezuidenhout should've made the cut at the Cognizant Classic, but he finished 5-over in his last 7 holes to miss it by 1 shot. Heartbreaking. He's playing better than these odds indicate and would have shorter odds if not for that back-9 collapse on Friday. He missed the cut here last year, but finished 20th, 7th and 18th in the previously 3 years.

Brian Harman (+10000)

While Bay Hill is nothing like a links course, it could feature similar wind to what players deal with in The Open. He missed the cut in the last 3 years but he also finished inside the top 20 here 3 times in the past.

Award given to individual who remains active in golf despite physical handicap or serious illness

Change Text Size

Gary Woodland, who underwent a craniotomy last September to remove a brain lesion, is the winner of the Golf Writers Association of America’s 2023 Ben Hogan Award for remaining active in golf “despite a physical handicap or serious illness,” the GWAA announced Monday.

He went on medication and was advised to wait and see regarding surgery, but with symptoms worsening, it seemed that the lesion might be growing. It was time to operate.

“They cut me open all the way down to my ear,” he said at the Sony Open in Hawaii, his return to competition in January (missed cut). “Cut about a baseball-sized hole in my skull and went in through that and then put it back with plates and screws.”

For four and a half months, he said at the Sony, he had thought he was going to die. But now doctors told him they’d gotten most of the lesion, and that it was benign. At 39, the winner of four PGA TOUR titles, including the 2019 U.S. Open, had a new lease on life .

After missing his first three cuts to start this season, Woodland was paired with friend Tiger Woods at The Genesis Invitational at The Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. Playing with Woods, who’d given him a sponsor exemption into the Signature Event, helped Woodland find a focus that had been missing, he said. He made the cut and finished T39.

“It's been a little bit harder than I thought,” he said, “but it's coming.”

Gary Woodland on symptoms he dealt with in 2023

Sometimes he wants to practice, but his team shuts him down. Well, mostly they do – he hit a shot into a net in his backyard two weeks after surgery.

“I almost fell over, but I hit it,” he said.

Sometimes, he added, he needs to just go into a dark room to avoid over-stimulation. Athletes in other sports know it as post-concussion protocol.

After his slow start this season, he and Butch Harmon looked at videos and realized he was swaying but not rotating, and Woodland rectified that at Riviera.

“What Gary has gone through and what his whole family has gone through is scary, right?” said Woods. “I just thought it was so important for him to be out here with us. It couldn’t have been any better with the group. JT (Justin Thomas) gave him a lot of grief, I gave him a lot of grief, they gave me a lot of grief. It was great interaction and it’s great to have Gary out here playing.”

Moscow Metro

Introduction of moscow subway system (metro).

Richly Decorated Central Hall of Novokuznetskaya Station

Nowadays the Moscow Metro has 12 lines, light subway and monorail. All stations are unique and beautiful in their own way. Unfortunately, in order to visit them all, you need to spend many days. I invite guests to visit the ones that have the greatest cultural and historical interest from my point of view. Among them are the Revolution Square, Arbatskaya, Kievskaya (Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line № 3); Kievskaya, Belarusskaya, Novoslobodskaya, Komsomolskaya (the Ring line number 5). Let us dwell a bit on each.

Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line

Subway station "revolution square".

Sign “Ploshchad Revolyutsii” in Archway with Bronze Figures

Most recently - in the year 2008-2010 – the Eastern lobby was renovated. Because of the terrorist attacks in the Moscow subway that took place several hours before the planned opening of the East lobby after renovation, the solemn part of the event was canceled.

Subway station Arbatskaya

Subway Arbatskaya is located on the same subway line as the station "Revolution Square." It was founded in 1953. It received the name in honor of the Arbat Street. It has one ground lobby (Western). Initially, the lobby was in a separate building, but the new building of the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense started, the lobby appeared to be in its atrium. The old exits were bricked up; a new entrance was built into the building of General Staff of the street Vozdvizhenka. There is a huge frame with a missing portrait in the ground lobby - until mid-1950 there was a portrait of Stalin. According to some reports, it survived, but closed with plaster.

The lobby was restored and partially reconstructed in 2007-2008.

The depth of the station is 41 meters.

Pylons are finished with red marble at the bottom, decorated with bouquets of flowers made from ceramics. The floor is laid out with gray granite. The walls lined with glazed ceramic tiles, white top and black bottom. The station hall is illuminated by massive bronze chandeliers in the form of rings.

Subway station Kievskaya

There are several subway stations "Kievskaya" in Moscow, located on different branches. This name is quite popular. It comes from the capital of Ukraine - one of Russia's nearest neighbors - the city of Kiev. The name is fully consistent with the idea of the subway station. The interior the station devoted to Soviet Ukraine and the reunification of Ukraine and Russia. The station is decorated with a large number of paintings .Twenty four murals depicting workers of Soviet Ukraine are placed on the arch above the pylons. The wall from the side of platform also contains frescos, mainly with images of fantastic plants. Pylons are decorated with light marble and additionally decorated with colorful ceramic cornice. The butt of the station has a large mosaic, depicting festivities to celebrate the 300 anniversary of the reunification of Ukraine and Russia.

Opened in 1953, this subway station for a long time was the final (1953-2003).

The station has one lobby, combined with the station ring line and located in the building of the Kievskaya railway station. The diameter of the central hall station is 9.5 m, the diameter of side one is 8.5 m. The depth of the station is 38 meters.

= Ring Line Subway =

It opened in 1954. The station received its name after the Kiev station, and locked the Ring line. During the construction of the station many projects were proposed, but the victory in the competition won the Kiev architects who made the construction of the station. It is the only station of the Ring Line which is not located in the Central Administrative District of Moscow.

The station has a pylon structure. Eighteen pylons are decorated with mosaic panels of glazes, decorated on the theme of Ukrainian history and friendship between the Ukrainian and Russian peoples, which started in the mid-17 century.

On the front wall of the central hall of the station a large panel with molding in the form of flags and a mosaic portrait of Lenin in the center are located. There are lines of the Soviet national anthem around the portrait, and under the portrait - the words of Lenin. One of the ways out of the station was designed by French architects modeled on the Paris Subway in 2006.

At one of the mosaics – “The Struggle for Soviet power in Ukraine "- modern passengers observe a mobile phone and PDA in the hand of one of the guerrillas, and on his knees - a laptop. In fact, he uses a field telephone, which was really a heavy thing (guerrillas holds it in two hands), and thing that people see a laptop is the lid of a box with a telephone. However, these phones have begun to produce only in the second half of the 20-ies of XX century. We must assume that the mosaic depicts a foreign field telephone transmitter.

Subway station Belorusskaya

The founded of the station was in 1952. It received the name after the Belarusian railway station nearby. The station has two ground-based lobbies. The Western one goes to Tverskaya  Zastava. It is decorated with beautiful carvings. The Eastern one leads to Butyrskiy shaft and Forest Street. The Eastern lobby is known for its majolica panels.

The station Belorusskaya is located at a depth of 42.5 m below ground. The diameter of the central hall is 9.5 meters.

Pylons are faced with light marble. The walls lined with white ceramic tiles, the floor is covered with ceramic tiles, gray, white and red colors. Lamps placed on pylons, in the form of vases made of glass and marble. The theme of decoration is economy and culture of Belarus. Decorative pattern on the floor repeats the theme of traditional Belarusian embroidery. Decorations of the ceiling consist of stucco decorations and 12 mosaic panels depicting the life of the Belarusian people.

Subway station Novoslobodskaya

Built in 1952, Subway station Novoslobodskaya got its name from the eponymous street:  the station is located at the very beginning of it.

Novoslobodskaya is pylon station of deep foundation (its depth is 40 m) with three arches.

Exit to the street is through the ground lobby with column portico, located on Novoslobodskaya Street lined with gray marble. Pylons of the underground station are faced with marble from the Urals. Thirty two spectacularly illuminated stained-glasses, placed inside the pylon and bordered by steel and gilt brass are splendid decoration of the station. A remarkable mosaic "World Peace" is located at the end of the central hall. The picture depicts a happy mother with a baby in her arms; it was the face of Stalin at the picture: the child gave a hand to him. But in times of Khrushchev the face of the former leader of USSR was removed from the panel. The walls are lined with bright marble; floor is covered with white and black granite slabs, placed in a checkerboard pattern.

Subway station Komsomolskaya

The station was built in 1952 and named in honor of the Komsomolskaya Square, which is situated nearby.

This subway station is the station of the deep bedding. Its depth is 37 meters. The station has column and three- arched design. Cast iron decoration is used in the construction, monolithic slab used as a tray for a collapsible finishing. The length of the boarding hall is 190 meters; width of it is 10 meters. There are 68 octagonal columns at station.

The main theme of the interior of the station is the fighting of the Russian people for their independence. The ceiling is decorated with eight station mosaic mural made from glazes and precious stones. Six of them represent the Alexander Nevsky, Dmitry Donskoy, Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky, Alexander Suvorov and Mikhail Kutuzov, the Soviet soldiers and officers at the walls of the Reichstag.

Two other panels, depicting Stalin ("Victory Parade" and "Presentation of the Guards Banner"), were replaced after the dethronement of Stalin's personality cult in 1963. New panels depict Lenin's speech in front of the Red Guards and the Motherland on the background of the Kremlin's Spasskaya Tower.

The yellow ceiling is decorated with mosaic and moldings. The hall is illuminated by massive chandeliers hanging between the panels; platforms are illuminated with smaller chandeliers. The columns are decorated with marble capitals and trimmed with light marble, as well as the wall station. The floor is laid with pink granite. There is a bust of Lenin at the end of the hall. At the opposite end of the escalator is a large Florentine mosaic of the Order of Victory with red banners on the background. The ground lobby of the station is decorated with bas-reliefs.

In conclusion...

Each of the stations of the Moscow subway is attractive and interesting in its own way. Each has its own long and fascinating history and is beautifully decorated. The Moscow subway is a whole world, which can be talking about for hours. I suggest you short - no more than one hour and a half - and a fascinating journey through the world of the Moscow subway. The pleasure is guaranteed!
