About The Falcon

the falcon band tour

Falcon is a talented rock looper musician based in Sudbury - Ontario, Canada, originally born in Minas Gerais, Brazil. From a young age, Falcon showed a natural talent for music and began playing guitar at the age of 14. His passion for music only grew stronger as he honed his skills and explored new styles and techniques.

In addition to playing guitar, Falcon is also an accomplished looper artist, using a loop pedal to create intricate and layered soundscapes. With his loop pedal, he is able to layer multiple tracks simultaneously (bass lines, beats and leads), effectively performing as a one-man band.

Falcon's music is heavily influenced by classic rock and blues, as well as Brazilian music and culture. He has a knack for writing catchy and energetic rock tunes with memorable hooks and clever lyrics.

In 2021, Falcon released his debut single, “See You Here,” (lyrics by Clésio Lucas, his musician collaborator friend) which showcased his skills as a songwriter, guitarist, and looper artist. The single received critical acclaim and helped to establish him as a rising star in the Canadian music scene.

Since then, Falcon has continued to tour and perform, both as a solo artist and with his backing band. He has played several gigs and has gained a reputation for his electrifying live shows.

With his unique blend of rock, blues, and Brazilian influences, and his innovative use of looping technology, Falcon is a true musical force to be reckoned with. He continues to push the boundaries of what is possible for a solo artist, inspiring and entertaining audiences around the world.

The Flanagan Winter Guards have had a solid and continuous foundation from there beginning and have become one of the premier performing groups in not only the SFWGA (South Florida Winter Guard Association), but nationally as an elite member of WGI (Winter Guard International)  Flanagan Winter Guards were founded in 1996, the same year as the school.  After a successful first marching band season, the instruction of Tim Lee helped to bring the guard to the indoor performance arena. For the first several years of its existence, the Winter Guard competed exclusively in the South Florida Winter Guard Association Circuit, initially in the Novice class.  Within two years, the group was promoted to “A” class, thanks to the continued efforts of Tim Lee, and Nikki Drake, a tech at the time, and a former captain of the Cooper City High School Color Guard. During its third year, the guard branched out into competition on the regional level, making appearances at the Winter Guard International Regional’s in both Miami and Tampa, Florida. Each performance brought a new level of success and recognition. By the 1998 season, the program had expanded to two units, competing in the “A” and Novice classes. Throughout the next few years, the guard continued to grow under the instruction of Daniel Helton, Bradley Watkins, Ricky Garcia, and Amy Hernandez. In 2001, Dean Broadbent and Emma Roberts moved to Pembroke Pines and started teaching the Flanagan Color Guards. In 2002, the “A” Guard and Open Guard both moved up to the next highest level of competition. The Novice Guard moved to “B” class where they stayed until 2004, at which time, they were promoted to “A” class. The top guard moved to Scholastic Open class winning the SFWGA championship two years in a row as well as receiving the Bronze Medal at the Winter Guard International World Championships in Dayton, Ohio.

Flanagan was the 2008 & 2012 WGI Scholastic World Champions. 2009 & 2001 WGI Scholastic World Bronze Medalist. 2013 WGI Scholastic World Silver Medalist.

SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket launch seen from Phoenix, Tucson night sky. Check it out here

I f you noticed a beaming string of light in the Arizona sky on Monday evening, you caught a glimpse of SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket launch from California's Vandenberg Space Force Base.

SpaceX planned to launch another batch of its Starlink internet satellites to orbit Monday night. Star gazers in both the Phoenix and Tucson areas reported seeing the rocket on X, formerly known as Twitter.

X users were able to watch the action live via SpaceX's account on X.

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

Falcon 9 successfully landed vertically on the droneship "Of Course I Still Love You," which was stationed in the Pacific Ocean, less than 10 minutes after the launch. It was the 10th launch and landing for this particular booster, according to a  SpaceX mission description .

The Falcon 9's upper stage was expected to continue hauling the 22 Starlink satellites to low Earth orbit. The satellites were expected to be deployed there about an hour after liftoff.

SpaceX rocket also carried satellites into orbit in Friday's launch

After  two days of delays , the SpaceX  Falcon 9 rocket  was finally able to launch Friday to deploy Starlink satellites into orbit.

The launch took place at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, located about 100 miles from the Mets’ spring training facility in Florida.

Falcon 9 , a reusable, two-stage rocket, has become integral to a variety of SpaceX. In February, the rocket helped launch an uncrewed lunar lander into orbit that eventually become the first privately-built craft to ever  make it to the moon .

Ed Palermo Big Band's "A Very Zappy Christmas"

The world's zaniest big band celebrates the Holiday with their skilled but wacky arrangements, re-forming the music of Zappa, Pink Floyd, Yes, King Crimson, Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter....with comic diversions, because they can't help it!.

This eighteen-piece ensemble - five woodwind players, four trumpeters, three trombonists, two keyboardists, guitar, violin, bass, drums, and vocalists throughout -  has been performing jazz arrangements of Zappa’s music regularly since 1994. But what started out as faithfully antic versions of the composer’s complex, fiendishly clever music has expanded to reflect Palermo’s passion for Todd Rundgren, British psychedelia and progressive rock.

This often entails head-spinning in-jokes, such as performing Traffic’s 1971 tune “The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys” over Zappa’s bass line for his composition “Chunga’s Revenge.”

The Ed Palermo Big Band performs monthly at the Iridium in Manhattan and regularly at The Falcon in Marlboro, NY, where Palermo often scripts elaborate thematic evenings. At one such event, vocalist Napoleon Murphy Brock—a longtime Zappa vocalist who frequently works with Palermo—sang the line “I’m never getting married” (from Jimmy Webb’s “The Worst That Could Happen”) as Palermo stumbled onstage in prison stripes for an evening dedicated to his 34th wedding anniversary.

Most of Palermo’s humor, however, lies in the music’s richly textured citations and juxtapositions. The scores themselves are funny.

“I wouldn’t call my thing a comedy show,” he said, “but it’s got a lot of humor in it. I often think that jazz takes itself way too seriously. Maybe that makes my thing stand out a little more.”

Chappell Roan: Tiny Desk Concert

Washington, DC - May 03, 2016: Stephen Thompson CREDIT: Matt Roth

Stephen Thompson

Credit: Photo: Elizabeth Gillis/NPR

It's become a Tiny Desk tradition for artists to leave a small offering on the shelves — a tchotchke, a toy, a signed album or piece of swag, a guitar pick, that sort of thing. Usually, those pieces get absorbed into the visual din, but sometimes, they change the look of the Tiny Desk permanently. All of which is to say that when Chappell Roan finished her magnetic performance, we immediately sought her out to sheepishly ask if we could keep her wig.

Roan's marvelous debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess , came out last September — just in time to fit into the window of eligibility for the 2025 Grammys, hint hint wink — and it finds the singer toying confidently with a persona inspired in part by drag performers. Flanked by a pink-clad band, she wasn't about to pass up the opportunity to serve up an absolute look , complete with white makeup and a towering wig (bolstered by a wadded-up trash bag tucked inside, as well as an assortment of stubbed-out cigarette butts), which now sits comfortably atop a skull Cypress Hill left us.

It's only appropriate that Roan would forever alter the Tiny Desk. Because, at the risk of sounding hyperbolic, this is a stunning set: Performing five songs from Midwest Princess , Roan worked through songs of youthful heartache ("Casual"), queer liberation ("Pink Pony Club"), mournful alienation ("California") and two decidedly different forms of chaotic seduction ("Picture You," "Red Wine Supernova"). In every mood and every song, she's utterly commanding — witty and whip-smart, vocally assured and charismatic beyond words.

She didn't just leave her wig; she left a mark.
