Situated not far from Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong is a vibrant province on its way to developing. The most crowded city is Thu Dau Mot, which attracting more human resources to swap this once-a-wild land into a metropolis. More than 50% of the population are migrants.

During the French colonial period, Binh Duong was seen as the capital of a purely agricultural “garden”, with only two main traffic routes, namely the Saigon River and Highway No. 13, with a population of only a few thousand people, mostly farmers.

On the re-establishment of the province (January 1st, 1997), Binh Duong has risen with the policy of renewal concretized by open policies, paving the way for the process of industrialization and modernization of the locality. By constructing the infrastructure, it’s drastically improving the investment environment, creating favorable conditions for production and business enterprises.

The socio-economic of Binh Duong began to obtain remarkable achievements. The economic structure shifted strongly in the direction of industry – service – agriculture and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The urbanization face has been clearly established.

Binh Duong covers an area of 2,694.7 km 2 , comprising nine district-level sub-divisions. It borders with Binh Phuoc province to the north, Ho Chi Minh City to the south and southwest, Tay Ninh province to the west, and Dong Nai province to the east.

Binh Duong has the north faces Binh Phuoc, the west to Tay Ninh, the east to Dong Nai, and the south to Ho Chi Minh.

Geology of bazan makes it a conducive land for rubber and coffee trees. The network of rivers and canals consists of Dong Nai, Sai Gon, Be rivers adds an advantage for growing fruits.

Like most provinces in the South, Binh Duong has a monsoon climate with rain comes in May, prolonging to October. The rest of the year is dry and humid. Temperature is measured at 27ºC on the average.

Binh Duong has many attractions for tourists, such as Dai Nam Van Hien Theme Park, Chua Ba Thien Hau Festival, Fruit Garden in Lai Thieu, and Crafts Village. It also has many historical and cultural sites, such as Lai Thieu Ancient House, Phu Cuong Cathedral, and Hoi Khanh Pagoda.

Hai Duong Holiday Weather today

Hai Duong is located to the north-east of Vietnam , in the heart of the Red River Delta. The province is bordered to the north by Bac Giang , to the north-east by Quang Ninh , to the east by Hai Phong , to the south by Thai Binh , to the west by Hung Yen and to the north-west by Bac Ninh .

Thanks to convenient location in between Hanoi and Hai Phong, and easy transport both by road and by waterway that Hai Duong is one of the industrial centers in northern Vietnam. Agriculture and tourism account for a minor portion of the province’s economy.

There are several crisscrossing rivers in Hai Duong and much of the province’s land has been created by alluvial soil from these rivers. Most of the terrain of Hai Duong is flat (90%) while only a minor part to the north and north-east has low mountains.

The rivers in Hai Duong include:

- The Luoc River flows from west to east forming the borderline between Hai Duong and Thai Binh.

- The Thai Binh River flows through the heart of the province from north-west to south-east. Thai Binh River and Red River are the 2 biggest river systems in northern Vietnam. This river forms a part of the borderline between Hai Duong and Hai Phong.

- The Kinh Thay and Kinh Mon Rivers flowing north-west to south-east are located to the north of the province. The Kinh Thay River forms the whole borderline between Hai Duong and Quang Ninh, and a good part of the borderline between Hai Duong and Hai Phong.

- The minor river Bac Hung Hai to the west and south is important to the irrigation network.

Weather and Climate

The climate of Hai Duong is tropical monsoon with temperatures ranging from below 10oC to above 40oC. The average annual rainfall is from 1,300-1,700mm. There are occasional storms from July through October.

Con Son Temple is dedicated to Nguyen Trai, a Vietnamese hero in the 15th century. The mountain around Con Son offers a nice hike and a lovely panorama from the mountain top.

Kiep Bac is a temple dedicated to Tran Quoc Tuan, a great military commander of Vietnam in the 13th century.
