Intex excursion 4 review: boat overview.

While this is an entry-level inflatable boat, the Intex Excursion 4 is sturdy and can be quickly inflated and setup by a single person. The boat has four seats with back rests to make your experience comfortable, and it also comes with two fishing rod holders, a gear storage pouch, and four welded oar locks.

You have the option of adding a small motor to the Excursion 4, which we recommend. It will be much easier to motor to your favorite fishing spots, and really makes the boat more enjoyable.

Rivers, lakes, estuaries, and dams are all ideal for this little boat. Take the Excursion 4 on downriver cruises, bird and animal spotting adventures, fishing, and picnics.

The Intex Excursion 4 boat is made of heavy duty, puncture resistant PVC vinyl. This durable vinyl is three layers thick, with two heavy gauge PVC outer layers laminated to an inner mesh layer of polyester. Not only is it strong and durable, it’s also comfortable with the inflatable I-beam floor and included back rests.

When fully inflated, the Excursion 4 is 124″ x 65″ and weighs 44 pounds. It can carry 880 pound maximum and is Coast Guard and NMMA certified. Those who are looking for something a bit more spacious should check out the larger Intex Excursion 5 .

This boat has three separate air chambers, including an auxiliary air chamber in the main hull for extra buoyancy and safety. A Boston valve on the two main hull chambers makes it quick and easy to inflate and deflate.

A grab line that goes all the way around the boat is nice for added safety and convenience. The boat also features a grab handle on the bow which makes it super easy to pull the boat in and out of the water.

Boat Design

The Intex Excursion 4 has a maximum capacity of 4 people. The two seats include back rests for additional support and comfort, and the seats face one another. The inflatable I-beam floor is sturdy, adding additional rigidity to the boat and increasing passenger comfort.

Does the Intex Excursion 4 come with a motor? No, the Intex Excursion 4 does not come with a motor. You can, however, buy a suitable motor and motor engine mount.

Is the Intex Excursion 4 safe for children? Yes, the Excursion 4 is safe for children. However, children should always be accompanied by an adult and wear life vests.

Can I get an engine mount from any dealer? No, the Intex Excursion 4 should be mounted with an engine mount from Intex which has been specifically designed for your boat.

Are leak repairs easy to do? Yes, repairing leaks with the included repair kit is very straight forward. Larger holes should be repaired by a professional for your own safety. Although the Excursion 4 is not likely to tear easily, accidents can happen and punctures 2 inches or larger should be professionally repaired.

Can I register my boat easily? Yes, Intex has an easy to follow, online registration form that you can complete.

Can I take the Intex Excursion 4 in the ocean? The Intex Excursion 4 is not built for rough ocean waters, but calm seas are fine. We highly recommend mounting a motor to your boat if you’re going to take it in the ocean.
