Helloween (formed in 1984) is a German power metal and speed metal band, who are extolled by many for pioneering the power metal genre introduced by their 1987 album “Keeper of the Seven Keys, Pt. 1”, hailing from Hamburg, Germany.

Originally comprised of vocalist and guitarist Kai Hansen, guitarist Michael Weikath, bassist Markus Grosskopf, and drummer Ingo Schwchtenberg, in 1984 Halloween signed with Noise Records. The group’s recording debut came with a pair of tracks for the Noise Records compilation “Death Metal”, featuring label-mates Hellhammer, Running Wild, and Dark Avenger. Halloween’s debut self-titled EP was released in 1985 earning a spread of positive reviews. Featuring the intensity of speed metal and introducing the band to a wide audience, the record was followed by the full-length album “Walls of Jericho” in October 1985. Once again proving popular among fans, the album would be the last before Helloween took the reigns of a new power metal genre, becoming pioneers of a new sound.

A subsequent EP “Judas”, released in 1986, marked the removal of Kai Hansen as vocalist, who had been unable to fulfil both singing and guitar duties. Hansen moved to playing just guitar and vocal responsibilities fell to 18-year old Hamburg local Michael Kiske, who recorded on Helloween’s sophomore album “Keeper of the Seven Keys, Pt. 1”. Dubbed the album that invented power metal, the record earned widespread critical acclaim and peaked at No. 15 on the German Album Chart. A year later the album’s follow-up “Keeper of the Seven Keys, Pt. 2” was released, with which the single “I Want Out” was generously featured on MTV in support of its “Headbager’s Ball”. The group subsequently supported Anthrax on the Headbanger’s Ball Tour, exposing the group to a U.S. audience, and ultimately paving the way for worldwide success.

Guitarist Hansen left the band following the European leg of the “Keeper of the Seven Keys Part II” tour and was replaced by Roland Grapow. The live album “Live in the U.K.” arrived in 1989 after which Halloween experienced difficulties with Noise Records, which resulted in the band not putting out any new material until 1991’s “Pink Bubbles Go Ape”. Spawning the singles “Kids of the Century” and “Number One”, the record was most popular in Scandinavia but also found modest success in Austria, Japan, and the UK. Adopting synthesisers, horns, and acoustic guitars for their next release, 1993’s “Chameleon”, peaked at No. 8 in Japan despite performing poorly elsewhere. The band’s supporting tour highlighted a tumultuous period for the group and by 1993 Helloween were without singer Kiske and drummer Abdel-Nabi. A year later, with vocalist Andi Deris and drummer Uli Kusch, Halloween reappeared to release “Master of the Rings”, marking a return to form for the band. Following the suicide of former drummer Ingo Schwichtenberg, the band issued the tribute album “The Time of the Oath” which saw Halloween return to the heights of the European metal hierarchy. The full-length “Better Than Raw” followed in 1998, supported by a relentless world tour including dates in Europe, Japan, Brazil, and the U.S.

An album of Scorpions, Jethro Tull, Faith No More, and ABBA covers appeared in 1999 entitled “Metal Jukebox”, following which the band released their ninth studio album “The Dark Ride” in 2000. Guitarist Grapow and drummer Kusch were let go after the release and were replaced by Sascha Gerstner and Mark Cross respectively, who recorded on “Rabbit Don’t Come Easy” in 2003. The full-length “Gambling with the Devil” hit the shelves in 2007, followed three years later by “7 Sinners” in 2010. 2013’s “Straight Out of Hell” was led by the single “Burning Sun”, and suceeded by the full-length “My God-Given Right” in 2015.

Live reviews

Helloween was phenominal. From the first song "Helloween" through the final encore song "I Want Out" Helloween gave the crowd a heavy dose of German Power Metal that one could only hope to experience. Andi Deris and Michael Kiske worked the crowd and were fantastic vocalists sharing the same stage as Kai Hansen, Sascha Gerstener, and Michael Weikath pounded the crowd with unyeilding guitar work. Markus Graosskopf (bass) and Daniel Loble (drums) were the same. The stage show was very good as well.

My only complaint is the the venue, Concord Music Hall. It may be a fine venue for smaller crowd, but fans showed up in droves and filled the Hall to capacity to the point where no one could barely move (because we were packed in like sardines). The stage certainly appeared to be way undersized for Helloween's band members to move around and the video effects were almost rendered inneffective. I certainly am not blaming the Concord Music Hall for these woes, but management for underestimating Helloween's popularity in the States. Only a few shows were booked for North America to the point where my son and I drove the 500 miles to Chicago (beautiful City by the way) from Pittsburgh to see the band. I am sure tha there are other fans who did something similar.

All in all though, I would do it all over again because the band was that great and as I said earlier, simply phenominal. The Pumpkins United Tour was a success in so many ways and it is a shame that more fans could not be exposed to it.

If you happen to have the chance to see the Pumpkins United tour, and are even a casual fan of Helloween, I would advise that you take advantage of attending their show if possible!

Great show delivered with enthusiasm to an appreciative audience. Helloween has been delivering power metal since the '80s. In fact, I saw them back in '89 when they warmed up for Queensryche on the Operation Mindcrime tour. Of course, that was back when Kai Hansen and Michael Kiske were still around.

Anyway, Andi Deris does a fantastic job with the vocals these days and quite frankly, the albums that have come out since 2000, including Dark Ride, Gambling with the Devil, 7-Sinners, Straight out of Hell, and the namesake of the current tour My God-Given Right are the hardest rocking the band has made.

Well, the band dipped into all of those albums and more on Tuesday at the Playstation in NYC. The dual guitarist fronted metal is lick filled and in your face. Like Jack Black said, it's a face melter.

The crowd was a mix of old guard Helloween fans (you could tell by the thinning hair and 20 year old tour jackets) and young brash headbangers looking to be kicked in the teeth. No one should have left disappointed. The band rocked for the better part of two hours and was able to enlist the crowd's help on several sing alongs.

The venue has decent acoustics and sight lines. Drink prices are typical of NYC bars.

If you get a chance to catch Helloween on this your, get it done. They're not going to be able to continue at this level for ever. I for one am glad I caught them this time around and sincerely hope the crew has a couple more albums in them.

Power metal has been an integral genre to the musical landscape of Germany and one of the country's most internationally recognised groups is Helloween. If only for their incredible band name, this group of performers have been tearing a blistering trial since they formed way back in 1984. The lineup has gone through a variety of alterations yet fortunately for fans the musical identity and intense live show has remained the group's incredibly strong constant.

Michael Weikath stomps out onto the stage tonight and raises his hands in command for larger cheers before he allows guitarists Markus Grosskopf and Sascha Gerstner to rip into the introducing strings of 'Wanna Be God'. With almost a thousand appearances around the globe, this group's seem completely at home onstage and they know their discography inside out yet this does not mean that the show is static in any way this evening. There is a deep pulsating darkness running through all their tracks and an instrumental extremity tying everything together which is in turn fuelled by the huge enthusiasm of the fanbase. They cheer one final rapturous time as the final beats of 'Power' fade and stop rippling the battered speaker system.

What’s better than metal you ask? Why, I think this audience would say. THRASH METAL, their hands raised in the horn position as they make an excruciatingly painful face, but hey, each to their own. This band has been doing what they’re doing for almost thirty years. Formed in Germany in 1984, they have released four EPs, and 15 studio albums. All of which are on sale tonight, in this pretty cool metal flight case. The distortion is set to high, with the gain turned up to eleven as they deliver their thrashing guitar riffs, complete with blast beats on the drums. Tonight they perform a slew of some of their biggest singles such as “Sole Survivor” which has people with their horns up in the air throughout the song from start to finish. “Mr Ego” follows. One of the things that I wonder with this band is why they released so much material; maybe they’re more of a studio band than a live band. Their peers Metallica have seen a career the same length as theirs but with half the amount of albums. Fair play to them.

Fantastic! Amazing! No words to describe a dream concert with the classic line-up and a big enthouasmic from the band. In Madrid, at least, it was very special, with more than 12.000 people waiting for them, waiting for this reunion.

This is the review that I write for my own web -> http://www.alvarolamela.com/2017/12/helloween-cumple-el-sueno-de-los.html

The world tour everyone longed-for since over two years took us to 26 countries on 3 continents. After several pandemic related postponements the UNITED FORCES TOUR finally ignited in England May 2022 and brought together more than 800.000 fans, catapulting you into an euphoric orbit for a year and a half!

Sold out headline shows in Los Angeles, New York and Sao Paulo, legendary highlights like the show at the Prague O2-Arena, the Schleyerhalle in Stuttgart, or in front of 14.000 metalheads in Santiago de Chile and our first ever sold out concert at the iconic Budokan in Tokyo – the Holy Grail and the ultimate accolade for every rock band!

Without a doubt there were tears in our eyes at the bombastic Hell & Heaven Festival in Mexico City, which closed the tour.

Waving the UNITED FORCES flag, we opened a new live chapter after more than 35 years of band history: all seven of us rocked the stages, side by side with colleagues like Kiss, Scorpions or Deep Purple and, for the second time we headlined the Wacken Open Air!

We want to send our thanks to all of you, our loyal fans in Europe, the United States, Canada, Central & South America and Asia. We are incredibly grateful that you kept your tickets even with all the ongoing postponements and, that you stayed true fans, waiting patiently to finally see us live.

As well, we would like to thank our friends in HAMMERFALL for accompanying us the majority of the dates and spicing up the tour with their pure Swedish metal, ensuring a sweaty, energetic and bombastic package.

Andi: „What a ride! This world tour was something special for all of us – to get together with all our fans after the long waiting – a feeling we all missed so much! We enjoyed all the shows: our fans were superb and gave us only strikingly happy moments that led to an even stronger cohesion of the band! Personally, I can’t even imagine doing this without Michi and Kai anymore! And now we are looking very much forward to our next studio album with the crazy Pumpgang we´ve got!

Markus: "Hi Helloween folks all over the globe: you were the ones who welcomed us with open arms and hearts all over the world and you turned our world tour into an unique, euphoric party! We love you all and we are very much looking forward to continue this party with you, our Helloween family in 2024 – right after we are done with the new record.

Sascha: "Wow, what an incredible tour once again! I've met so many wonderful people, and the atmosphere during our concerts has been filled with love and energy. Each tour gives me a steady growing and fulfilling experience! Much love to all the fans out there, our hard working crew, dedicated management, and my talented bandmates!"

After 60 extremely emotional shows, we are now going directly into the songwriting process and follow up production for the successor of HELLOWEEN - it will be the second release of a new era, the new time calculation for us!

"BEST TIME": NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO OUT NOW!

HELLOWEEN would like to celebrate again with their fans – with "BEST TIME", THE party song of their 2021 album "HELLOWEEN".

The sunny and straight hymn by Sascha Gerstner and Andi Deris revives the good times and shows with their drifty guitars and top form front men a song full of the joys. About the songwriting of "BEST TIME" Sascha Gerstner states: "I had an '80’s Neo Noir-Vibe' in my head. The riff was originally a synth-riff, which we arranged later for guitars. The wording 'I will have the best time of my life' was pretty spontaneous because I had this strong feeling to leave the past behind and Seize the day! Andi instantly loved the idea as well as the refrain and together we created the track as it is now!" "BEST TIME" comes with a terrific 80’s retro-artwork by cartoonist and HELLOWEEN fan Marcos Moura in a 2,000 pieces limited edition of a 12-inch vinyl, available in three colors as well as a bundle: vinyl single and t-shirt.  BUY YOUR EXCLUSIVE „BEST TIME“ VINYL EDITION AND SHIRT NOW! Dear fans,  due to the sad and tragic event of this war, we are sorry to have to cancel our shows in Russia for 2023. We have amazing fans in Russia and Ukraine - music unites us all. Our thoughts are with all the innocent and good people, that have to take the unbelievable suffering from this insanity. We hope and pray for the wellbeing of all and a UNITED good time, with Ukrainian and Russian fans alike sometime soon, in a world that has finally come to peace and reason. Love to all!

"OUT FOR THE GLORY“

MUSIC VIDEO RELEASED!

No reason to sit back: with the clip for “OUT FOR THE GLORY“ the next exciting coup is coming as the successful year is ending. "I had an idea for a video where all band members are depicted as dinky, odd noble courtiers and ministers" Michael Weikath explains. „All of us should be floating in the clouds, Deris as a nutty emperor…and after a while more and more details came up and at one point in time we wrote everything down and sent the video concept to the Australian animation team“. Aaron McLoughlin, Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne, who has already been involved in several projects with Atomic Fire Records CEO Florian Milz (e.g. for Children Of Bodom, Alestorm, Tankard) mentioned: „When I heard that HELLOWEEN is interested in a collaboration I was totally gobsmacked. The boys are my absolute heroes since I was a teenager and I was sure that my students would love to work on a song by this band.“

And typically HELLOWEEN  - the creativity was so outrageous that it was impossible to feature everything in one music video. „Seven and a half minutes might not sound like a lot but in animation terms it is a marathon. We had so much great stuff that the production of “OUT FOR THE GLORY“ was a real challenge. Weiki wanted the video to look as cute as possible and we immediately knew: A legendary band from the other side of the planet wants us to create a medieval epic full of cuteness? You bet!" McLoughlin recollects.

With a bit over 10.000 frames the iconic animation short movie is not only extremely elaborate, but also wicked and spacy, will cause a commotion and hopefully also a lot of fun and enjoyment. As Michael Weikath wishes with a twinkle in his eye: „I now expect that everyone will enjoy this and think it is funny and also that they see the signification!"

The animated music video “OUT FOR THE GLORY“ is celebrating its world premiere on December, 17th 2021 and was implemented by the students of Bachelor of Design (Animation & Interactive Media), RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia .

HELLOWEEN Is 'Looking Forward' To Completing Next Studio Album

The reunited expanded classic lineup of German power metallers HELLOWEEN has announced plans to take the next few months off from the road to make another album to follow up 2021's acclaimed self-titled effort.

After playing 60 extremely emotional shows in support of their chart-topping album "Helloween" , returning singer Michael Kiske and guitarist/vocalist Kai Hansen along with vocalist Andi Deris , guitarists Michael Weikath and Sascha Gerstner , bassist Markus Grosskopf and drummer Daniel Löble are now going directly into the songwriting process.

HELLOWEEN 's recent "United Forces" world tour took the band to 26 countries on three continents, bringing together more than 800,000 fans. The trek included sold-out headline shows in Los Angeles, New York and São Paulo, as well as highlights like the show at the Prague O2 Arena, the Schleyer-Halle in Stuttgart, or in front of 14,000 metalheads in Santiago de Chile and HELLOWEEN 's first-ever sold-out concert at the iconic Budokan in Tokyo, Japan — the Holy Grail and the ultimate accolade for every rock band. Without a doubt, there were tears in everyone's eyes at the bombastic Hell & Heaven festival in Mexico City, which closed the tour.

Deris , Kiske , Weikath , Hansen , Grosskopf , Gerstner and Löble send their thanks to all their fans in Europe, the United States, Canada, Central and South America and Asia and are incredibly grateful that everyone kept their tickets even with all the ongoing postponements and, that they stayed true fans, waiting patiently to see HELLOWEEN live. As well, the band would like to thank their friends in HAMMERFALL supporting the tour for most of the dates and spicing things up with their pure Swedish metal, ensuring a sweaty, energetic and bombastic package.

Andi says: "What a ride! This world tour was something special for all of us — to get together with all our fans after the long waiting, a feeling we all missed so much! We enjoyed all the shows: our fans were superb and gave us only strikingly happy moments that led to an even stronger cohesion of the band! Personally, I can't even imagine doing this without Michi and Kai anymore! And now we are looking very much forward to our next studio album with the crazy pumpgang we've got!"

Markus adds: "Hi HELLOWEEN folks all over the globe: you were the ones who welcomed us with open arms and hearts all over the world and you turned our world tour into an unique, euphoric party! We love you all and we are very much looking forward to continue this party with you, our HELLOWEEN family in 2024 — right after we are done with the new record."

Sascha states: "Wow, what an incredible tour once again! I've met so many wonderful people, and the atmosphere during our concerts has been filled with love and energy. Each tour gives me a steady growing and fulfilling experience! Much love to all the fans out there, our hard-working crew, dedicated management, and my talented bandmates!"

This past March, Kiske told Canada's The Metal Voice that Kai had already sent him a demo of a song that he was working on that "I was very happy about, because it's not what you would expect; the song was a bit outside of the box, which I am always grateful for," Michael said. "I always thought that was exciting about HELLOWEEN . When you check out the 'Keeper [Of The Seven Keys: Part] I' and 'Keeper [Of The Seven Keys: Part] II' records, now they're classics, but when they came out, it was very different to what the 'Walls Of Jericho' record sounded like. But we had the balls to do it. And I think that's why I'm still here, because those records had an impact because of being pretty fearless. And it is always the benefit of the youth; most of the time, the younger people are very fearless.

"What I like about Weiki and Kai , they can't fool themselves. They just write songs. They don't function in any other way but just making the song, and whatever it is, that's what it is. And that song was a bit QUEEN -like. It had a lot of piano parts in it — very operatic, with big choirs. And then it gets rocking again and stuff like that. It's another Kai Hansen sort of symphony. But I really liked it. And I'm glad that he does something like that. I just hope the rest of the band has the balls to do it. I would do it."

Asked if he will be contributing any musical ideas to HELLOWEEN 's next effort, since he didn't write anything on "Helloween" , Kiske said: "I don't know. I'm not so much of a metal songwriter. I was when I was a teenager. But these days I just don't write metal songs; I just write songs on acoustic guitar somehow. And if I have something where I feel like the band could make a HELLOWEEN song out of it, of course I will present it to them, and then if they get a kick out of it, something's gonna happen. But we have so many songwriters in this band now. And they're all really capable of writing that sort of material that everybody loves, and that's mainly Andi , Sascha , Weiki and Hansen . And I think that's more than enough. If I have an idea, I sneak it in. But I don't really push myself."

As for whether the rest of HELLOWEEN has also begun composing music for the band's next LP, Kiske said: "I know that Andi has songs, and I know that Kai has a whole bunch of songs. He was a bit lazy last time; he only had that one great song, [the 12-minute] 'Skyfall' , which was maybe good for three songs, and that's why it's justified, but I would have wished for even more from him. And I think this time he will be presenting a whole bunch of songs more. At least that's my impression, the feeling that I have — there might be more coming from him this time. Andi is always in the game. Andi has this gift; he can just sit down and write 10 songs. He can just do it. I don't know how he does it."

In August 2022, Kiske told Chile's Radio Futuro that the overwhelmingly positive response to "Helloween" "was pretty unexpected. I was expected it to do good, but it was, like, perfect.

"It is very difficult for you, when you're involved in an album, to have an objective view at what you're doing," he explained. "You just do what you do. You always try to make the best out of every song. And obviously the spirit within the band is very good, which helps, but you never know how people hear it. So the best thing you can do is fade it all out, not think about it, and just try to make every song exciting for yourself; that's the best thing you can do. The less you think about success or how critics might see it, the better for the album. It's not easy, but you've gotta have that discipline to kind of fade it out and not let it get to you.

"I was surprised how well it was received, but, of course, it was a very welcome motivation, especially [in 2021]," Kiske added. "We released it right in the middle of the whole pandemic crap, and that was a positive lift, doing the interviews and seeing how people reacted to it."

Regarding how HELLOWEEN had managed to pull off the seemingly impossible by splitting vocals on the album between returning singer Kiske and longtime frontman Deris , with added contributions from Hansen , Michael said: "It was actually great. It was very easy. I was kind of expecting it to be difficult, but it wasn't, because there was no ego fights going on between me and Andi . We were just there on Tenerife meeting up almost every day.

"Before we started recording, we had Dennis Ward making a rough draft of what he thinks could work in terms of splitting: 'This sounds like Andi . This sounds a bit like Michael .' And that was how we approached it. It was some kind of pre-draft of how we could do it, but was nothing written in stone.

"One day I came to the studio and the evening before Andi was recording something, or had recorded something, and he wasn't feeling so happy with it. He came and said, 'I was trying this and that. And maybe you should give it a try too.' And then we figured out what sounds the best for the song.

"There are a whole bunch of songs where you can hear right away, 'That's an Andi Deris song. He should sing that.' Or, 'That's a typical Kiske song. That sounds great [with Kiske vocals].' It's like 'Angels' , for instance, it was very clear that that was mostly a Kiske song, and Sascha [ Gerstner , guitar] had written it with my voice in his head. But there are other songs, especially when Andi writes his own songs, usually it sounds best when he does it unless he wrote it with my voice in his head, like he did with 'Fear Of The Fallen' . 'Fear Of The Fallen' , he was writing it with both singers in his mind, and that works out.

"But it was very easy," Kiske repeated. "Because you just try it out, and you very quickly hear what works best. And I would say, like, 70 percent of the time we knew before that that would be sounding better with him or that would be sounding better with me. Or even with Kai — there were even spots where we thought he should do it."

Upon its release in June 2021, "Helloween" landed in the Top 10 in more than 10 countries, including Germany, Spain, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland and Austria. The cover artwork for the LP was painted by artist Eliran Kantor , who has previously worked with HATEBREED , SOULFLY , TESTAMENT , ICED EARTH and SODOM , among others.

Produced by Charlie Bauerfeind and Dennis Ward , the latest HELLOWEEN LP was recorded in part at the H.O.M.E. Studios in Hamburg (where everything started in 1984). The same recording console used for such HELLOWEEN albums as "Master Of The Rings" , "Time Of The Oath" and "Better Than Raw" was utilized to record the band's new material. The effort was mixed at the Valhalla Studios of Ronald Prent ( IRON MAIDEN , DEF LEPPARD , RAMMSTEIN ).

"Helloween" saw the legendary German power metallers going "back to the roots," with the band recording fully analog and Daniel Löble playing the drum kit previously used by HELLOWEEN 's original drummer, the late Ingo Schwichtenberg , on the legendary "Keeper Of The Seven Keys" recordings.

The "Pumpkins United" tour marked the first time Kiske had played live with HELLOWEEN since 1993. Hansen , who departed HELLOWEEN in 1988, had been joining the band onstage on various tours and festival appearances throughout the years. The set featured several duets with Kiske and his replacement, Deris , along with many rarely played songs, including "Kids Of The Century" , "Rise And Fall" and "Livin' Ain't No Crime" . Hansen — who fronted HELLOWEEN until late 1986 — sang a medley of several early HELLOWEEN classics, including "Ride The Sky" , "Judas" , "Starlight" and "Heavy Metal (Is The Law)" .

In 2022, Deris told the "Metal Command" podcast that he "strongly" hoped the reunited expanded classic lineup of HELLOWEEN would eventually make another album to follow up "Helloween" . "I mean, as long as the vibe is great, chemistry is great and everybody's having fun with each other, it would be a crime not to do so and not to plan for a future together," he said.

" 'Pumpkins United' is not only the name for the last tour, I think that's something like a brand," he continued. " HELLOWEEN 'Pumpkins United' , that's something like a band — a new or something like [that] growing from the old band."

On the topic of how HELLOWEEN has managed to maintain internal harmony with so many members involved, Andi said: "I just can tell you getting along with each other, I think it's rooted in the matter of fact that we're finally too old for the other shit. [ Laughs ] From a certain age on, you let other people live and you don't take everything personal. Talking for [myself], whenever somebody told me something that could be looked at in a negative way, I took it the negative way. Even though when you look at it from the positive side of you, you could say, 'Well, man, maybe it was even a compliment, because have you seen it from that side?' 'No.' That's what happens when you're getting older — you don't take everything on the negative side: 'Oh, he's attacking me' or 'he's meaning bad' or 'he's meaning to annihilate you or intimidate you' or whatever. Everybody in the band, even together now with seven people, I have to say everybody is old enough to not always look at it from the negative [point of view] but also try to realize who's talking. So I cannot imagine that the boys are meaning bad if they speak about me in a sense that I could take negatively, but because I like everybody, I personally think, 'Well, I don't think they're talking negatively.' So I try to find the sense in a positive way, and most of the time — 99.9 percent [of the time] — it's exactly that. It's nothing negative; it's positive. But back in the day, everything I took was negative — when I was in my 20s and 30s. Then when you get [to] 40, it's getting better. [ Laughs ] Or maybe it's just you don't give a shit anymore."

Helloween Announce 2023 North American Tour With HammerFall

Power metal legends Helloween will be returning to North America in 2023, on tour with special guest HammerFall .

They last visited the U.S. and Canada prior to release last year's self-titled album, debuting the lineup that now features classic members Michael Kiske (vocals) and Kai Hansen (guitar vocals), both of whom rejoined in 2017.

With three distinct eras of the band now performing as one, it's hard to argue there has ever been a better time to be a Helloween fan than these last few years, especially after their remarkably strong 2021 album, which they're now supporting on the road.

"We are very delighted and enchanted to tell you that we're coming to the U.S. and Canada pretty soon, actually. We expect you to be there and rock with us," says Hansen in a video promo for the upcoming run. "You're going to be there otherwise you're in big trouble," adds bassist Markus Grosskopf, "I expect you there!"

Joining Helloween will be Sweden's HammerFall, who also served as their guest on a recent European tour. They'll be touting their latest album,  Hammer of Dawn , which came out in February.

The 13-date trek will stretch from May 13 through June 3 and you can view the complete list of stops further down the page. Tickets will go on sale on Sept. 30 at 10AM local time and you can find more ticketing information at Helloween's website .

A year of the Eras Tour: A look back at Taylor Swift's record-breaking show

helloween past tours

One year ago, the crowd in Glendale, Arizona, erupted into a massive cheer in State Farm Stadium when Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me" began playing and the backdrop screen transitioned to a countdown clock starting at 2:24.

None of the Swifties who traveled from all over the state of Arizona and the nation, dressed to the nines as one of her 10 eras, knew the tour would be three-plus hours. The fan screaming next to me from Pennsylvania who bought a ticket on StubHub.com for about $400 didn't know that we would go era-by-era through a 44-song track list. I don't think the singer, herself, knew when she hid inside a cleaning cart wheeled backstage, that her show would lead to a billion-dollar enterprise, Time magazine person of the year and an inundation of friendship bracelets. I didn't know the behemoth success following the Eras Tour star would send me packing from Phoenix to Nashville, Tennessee, to become the inaugural Taylor Swift reporter.

Swift's dancers flowed onto the stage through fog with pink, purple and orange parachute flaps. A compilation of songs from Swift's 10 albums — or eras — played as "it's been a long time coming" boomed into the stadium. Goosebumps covered the arms of thousands and tears cascaded down cheeks as the flaps revealed Miss Americana rising to begin her "Lover" set.

Eighty three shows later, here's a look back at the unprecedented tour that set a Guinness World Record . And fair warning, like her tour this article is an extensive rollercoaster.

Swept up in the hype, the world became Taylor Nation. Glendale, "Erazona ," was renamed "Swift City." Las Vegas lit up its arches in all 10 era colors. Arlington, Texas, dubbed one of its streets "Taylor Swift Way." Tampa, Florida, gave Swift a key to the city and invited her to be an honorary mayor. Houston renamed its venue "NRG Stadium (Taylor’s Version)."

Nashville, Tennessee, dedicated a bench in Centennial Park to the hometown singer. A Philadelphia radio station, 96.5 FM (WTDY), renamed itself Ninety-Swift-Five W-T-A-Y. Gov. Philip D. Murphy dubbed the "Taylor Swift ham, egg and cheese sandwich" the "state sandwich of New Jersey." Chicago lit up the top of Willis Tower in her album colors. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey renamed his city "Swiftie-apolis," and Santa Clara, California, Mayor Lisa Gillmor switched the city's name to "Swiftie Clara."

Internationally, fans in Brazil caught the attention of Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Paes and Father Omar, the rector of the Christ the Redeemer Sanctuary, who arranged to project a  "Junior Jewels" inspired T-shirt  onto the Christ the Redeemer statue. Flinders Station in Melbourne , Australia, flashed a wallpaper glaze of lights to welcome the Eras star. Singapore painted the Marina Bay Sands Resort all colors of vibrant lights.

It's a cruel summer with you

All four seasons met the fifteen dancers, four backup singers, six bandmates and hundreds of production and crew members, adding unpredictable weather to the mix. Mother Nature danced in a lightning storm to "Fearless" in Tampa and made the song "Midnight Rain" a reality in Nashville . Rain poured through the open-roofed stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where Swift pushed puddles forming on her piano . The Swiftie fandom created its own natural phenomenon in Seattle after a seismologist registered a 2.3 magnitude earthquake on her Richter scale.

The intense heat in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, caused Swift to throw water bottles to fans and temporarily halt her show. Ana Clara Benevides Machado, 23, passed out and died of heat exhaustion. The heartbreaking news prompted changes at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos to allow fans access to water. Swift invited Benevides' family to her concert in São Paulo.

I want you to think of the memories made

Swift incorporated custom messages into each tour stop. At her international destinations, she welcomed fans in their custom languages. "Bienvenidos al Eras Tour," she said in Mexico City before hoisting her hands in the air. While donning either her pink or blue guitar before the title track of "Lover," she commonly announced the stadium attendance often record-breaking.

Outside of stadiums, thousands "Taylorgated," or showed up without a ticket to hear Swift's beats and dance on the concrete. Tens of thousands more logged on to watch livestreams from fans with tickets who agreed to spend concert time holding up their mobile devices in a tricep-burning position.

The number of viewers would jump before the "Champagne Problems" speech and acoustic set. To keep things fun and interesting each night, fans filled out "Swiftball" ballots guessing the singer's outfits from four "Lover" bodysuits and accompanying "The Man" jackets, three "Fearless" dresses, two "Evermore" dresses, six "Speak Now" gowns, three bedazzled "22" shirts, five "Folkore" dresses, four "1989" crop top and skirt combos, six "Midnights" T-shirt dresses, three "Midnight Rain" body suits and four "Karma" faux fur jackets. To see how many times the Eras star wore each outfit, check out the "Data Swiftie."

For fans who wanted to get alerts to watch the shows without having to calculate time changes, Swift Alert became the app for that .

Double clap, audience chants

A secret language formed between fans and Swift as new traditions popped up along the tour. The four lines fans screamed at the top of their lungs, no matter the city or country, were "cause shade never made anybody less gay" in "You Need To Calm Down," "what a shame she's f----d in the head" in "Champagne Problems," "f--- the patriarchy" in "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)" and "don't call me kid, don't call me baby" in "Illicit Affairs."

Swift started every show strong with a very important question: Did her fans know the bridge to "Cruel Summer?" "Prove it!" she'd yell at some stops and the audience would, every single time, bellow, "I'm drunk in the back of the car." For "The Archer," fans printed and dispersed signs that read, "We will stay," to hold up when Swift asks, "Who would stay?"

In the "Fearless" era, fans double clapped with "13" drawn on the back of their hands in the middle of the bridge to "You Belong With Me." A trend of marriage proposals during "Love Story" picked up during the 2024 leg with partners popping the question as Swift sang, "He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring."

During "Marjorie," Swifties turned their phone flashlights on in tribute to Swift's grandma. Fans started timing the standing ovation and ear-shattering applause after "Champagne Problems." Livestreamers, like Tess Bohne , would display a clock and fans guessed if the cheers would surpass one, two or three minutes.

A snake shape slithered through the light-up braceklets handed out before the show at the start of the "Reputation" era. Fans yelled "1, 2, 3, let's go b----" before the first verse of "Delicate" as Swift counts on her fingers. Later in the song, Swift sings, "Do the girls back home touch you like I do?" and fans reply, "No, they don't." On rare occasion, Swift would let out a three-note riff during her "Don't Blame Me" belt.

After rereleasing her third album, the "Speak Now" singer added "Long Live" to the set list, bringing the total to 45 tracks. In the first verse when she croons "the crowds and stands went wild," the crowd indeed went wild.

In the "Red" era, Swift crowned a deserving fan with a black fedora during "22." They were typically children, but one adult Swiftie was crowned in Melbourne . Dancer Kameron Saunders had the only speaking line on the tour besides Swift during her song "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." He said "like ever" at the American shows, but when the tour went international, he switched up the phrase each night. And yes, we track that. Swift knew all too well each crowd had "10 minutes to spare," and she played her longest song, in total, for about 14 hours.

She was only tied to the "Invisible String" for five shows and traded the opening "Folklore" era number to "The 1" in Arlington, before news of her split from actor Joe Alwyn . She brought "Invisible String" back for one night in Nashville because the Tennessee capital is home to Centennial Park. Nashvillians also noticed that Swift switched a note during "The 1" lyric "you meet a woman on the internet and take her home." She kept the key change for every succeeding show.

Right before the first lyric of "Style" during the "1989" set, fans began a tradition of saying, "What time is it?" to which the singer replied, "Midnight, you come and pick me up." In Sydney, Australia, a "Blank Space" chant from the 1989 World Tour was reborn and repeated in Singapore. Taylor Nation, Swift's marketing team, tweeted that it hopes fans at every tour stop going forward shout their city. In Philadelphia, a "Bad Blood" remix originated when Swift noticed a security guard hassling a fan . "She's fine. She wasn't doing anything. Hey! Stop! Hey, stop!" became the cool thing to say after, "It's so sad to think about the good times, you and I." Fans also incorporated a Kendrick Lamar line from the "Bad Blood" remix: "You forgive, you forget, but you never let it go."

And then came the surprise set . (More on her collaborators and announcements below.) Each night, Swift performed one song on the guitar and one on the piano that she hadn't yet performed on the tour. That is until 2024, when she added mashups and threw out her rule of never repeating songs. At the end of the set, she swan dives into a hole in the stage. Fans later caught a red light that turned green to signal it was safe to jump.

After meeting her at "Midnights," fans sang Jack Antonoff's version of "Anti-Hero." When Swift sings "tale as old as time," the crowd chimes in, "Taylor, you'll be fine." Tyler Conroy made a viral video of him screaming , "Where you going Taylor?" during "Bejeweled" before she sings, "I'm going out tonight," and the trend caught on like a blaze ripping through the Lover house. Finally, after Swift changed the lyrics to, "Karma is the guy on the Chiefs," in Argentina with her boyfriend Travis Kelce in the crowd, that became the standard for fans. She has only sang it that way four times, when he was in attendance in Buenos Aires, Sydney and Singapore.

If you would direct your attention to the back screen

In addition to boosting economies everywhere she went, Swift created an abundance of news. She announced "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" in Nashville. She announced a new version of "Midnights" and premiered the "Karma (Remix)" music video featuring Ice Spice as the upstart rapper joined Swift in East Rutherford, New Jersey. She released "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" right before her Kansas City, Missouri, stop and then debuted the "I Can See You" music video starring Taylor Lautner and Joey King who were at the show. Lautner backflipped on the catwalk.

It might have seemed strange that Swift ended the American leg of her tour on a Wednesday in Los Angeles, but not to the eagle-eyed Swiftie who realized the date was 8/9. That's the day she announced the rerecording of her fifth album, "1989 (Taylor's Version)." The album came out during her break before her Argentina tour dates. It topped the Billboard charts and allowed her to bypass Elvis for the most weeks with an album at No. 1.

Then, she announced her 11th album, "The Tortured Poets Department," at the Grammys after winning her 13th career award. At her tour stops in Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore, she revealed there were four total versions of "Tortured Poets" and told fans they would get a different bonus track on each one : "The Manuscript," "The Bolter," "The Albatross" and "The Black Dog."

Welcome to the acoustic set

One of the most anticipated portions of an Eras Tour show is the acoustic set. At most of the concerts, she only spoke before the guitar song. In rare instances, she tested the microphone before the piano song and made an announcement.

Occasionally she invited collaborators to join her onstage. Marcus Mumford surprised fans in Las Vegas to play "Cowboy Like Me." Her co-producer and close friend Aaron Dessner from The National joined her six times on stage, in Tampa (twice), Nashville, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Santa Clara. Jack Antonoff came out to play "Getaway Car" in New Jersey. Maren Morris did a "You All Over Me" duet in Chicago. When their opening acts were canceled for weather, Gracie Abrams performed "I Miss You, I'm Sorry" and Sabrina Carpenter sang a dyad mashup of "White Horse" and "Coney Island."

Some of the surprise songs came with hidden messages. Fans speculated she sang "Bigger Than The Whole Sky" as an ode to a fan who died , "End Game" to Travis Kelce watching her show from the VIP tent and "Gold Rush" as a congratulations to Jason Kelce for retiring. She has performed "You're On Your Own Kid" five times, in Tampa, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Tokyo and Singapore.

And he never thinks of me, except when I'm on TV

To close out the first year of the Eras Tour, Swift released the third film version of her concert to streaming service Disney+. This version included "Cardigan" and four acoustic songs: "Maroon," "Death By A Thousand Cuts," "You Are In Love" and "I Can See You."

The second version came out on Swift's birthday, Dec. 13. Fans could rent it for 48 hours at a price of $19.89, and it included "The Archer," "Wildest Dreams" and "Long Live" cut from the original movie.

The original movie was released Oct. 13, in the middle of the Hollywood strikes. Swift did what studios and streaming services were unable to: make a deal with SAG-AFTRA. She worked with the unions and was able to market and show her movie how she saw fit. The film made more than $250 million globally and got her nominated for a Golden Globe award .

Would you be interested in one more song?

If you're still with me on this walk down Eras Tour Lane, it's important to make one final note before the tour resumes in Paris in May. Before her magnum opus took off higher than the "Bad Blood" flames, Swift chose "Mirrorball" and "Tim McGraw" to be her very first surprise songs. She ended year one with the same two songs, but flipped the instruments she played them on in a full-circle moment.

Her new album will come out April 19 and the full Eras Tour is streaming on Disney+, which begs the question: What her show will look like come Paris? She has a two-month break before 69 shows scheduled for Europe and North America. She also has two rerecords left to release: "Reputation (Taylor's Version)" and her self-titled debut album.

If there's one thing any Swiftie knows, it's Taylor Swift's ability to make news and create lasting memories through her record-shattering tour. What a first year; on to year two!

Moscow Metro 2019

Will it be easy to find my way in the Moscow Metro? It is a question many visitors ask themselves before hitting the streets of the Russian capital. As metro is the main means of transport in Moscow – fast, reliable and safe – having some skills in using it will help make your visit more successful and smooth. On top of this, it is the most beautiful metro in the world !

The Players Championship finish maybe greatest ever, leaves PGA Tour fans in awe

The 50th Players Championship might have been the most exciting, with Scottie Scheffler making PGA Tour history.

THE PLAYERS Championship - Final Round, Scottie Scheffler

Scottie Scheffler has done it again. He became the first player in the 50 years of The Players Championship to win the event in back-to-back years.

Not to mention, he also went back-to-back on the PGA Tour after Scheffler won the Arnold Palmer Invitational last week.

He is World No. 1 for a reason, and his performance proved it again. But unlike Bay Hill, this win came with an unbelievable amount of drama Sunday.

Scheffler’s final round 8-under 64 was phenomenal, as he tied Fred Couples and Davis Love III for the lowest final round winning score in tournament history. He entered the clubhouse at 20-under par with three studs chasing him.

Brian Harman, Xander Schauffele and Wyndham Clark each had a birdie putt on 18 that would have forced a three-hole playoff.

Neither Harman’s or Schauffele’s had much of a chance. But Clark’s putt impossibly lipped around and out, leaving the reigning U.S. Open champion gutted .

This Championship Sunday may be one of the best golf fans have seen in a long time. It’s certainly the best of 2024 so far.

Afterwards, fans couldn’t stop bragging about the fantastic golf they witnessed as the 50th Players ended.

Seeing Wyndham Clark lip out on 18 has us like: pic.twitter.com/SxNhY9Dkn3 — Playing Through (@_PlayingThrough) March 17, 2024
Loved the golf this week. Great drama with Xander, Wyndham and Harman all having chances going down the last. Fitzy and Hideki both just a few shots back as well. Brilliant tournament #theplayers — Liam Cope (@LiamCopeGolf) March 17, 2024
#LIV stans very quiet tonight, it’s as if they realise that loud music, drunk morons & dancing girls do not make a good golf tournament. #ThePLAYERS — Johnny Cash (@sideandaprayer) March 17, 2024

It’s hard for LIV Golf to contend when the golf is that good on the PGA Tour. When multiple top-10 players in the world are within a shot of each other to win The Players, it’s must-watch television.

If you think shotgun start, no cut, limited field, team golf is better than a four-way battle down the stretch with three guys chasing the best golfer in the world, then you are simply deluded and can jog on. #THEPLAYERS #PGATour — Tim Findlay (@TimFindlay) March 17, 2024
It’s crazy how one tournament can totally change how pro golf feels, I may care about that stuff tomorrow, but today, golf reminded me that yeah, this sport is the best out there. #ThePlayers — Swale Golf (@swalegolf) March 17, 2024

It’s wild what good golf can do for the viewership. The PGA Tour needed a day like this with Scheffler coming from five back and winning back-to-back Players Championships. He accomplished something that not even Tiger Woods ever could.

Professional golf is one of the best out there, and like Swale Golf said on X, this Championship Sunday proved it.
