I know at least once in your life, you’ve dreamt about seeing the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Sagrada de Familia in Barcelona, the green landscape of Austria , the Aurora Borealis in Norway , the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, among many others. WHAT IS THE SCHENGEN AREA?

Not all countries in Europe are part of the Schengen Area. There are currently 26 member states where you can use your Schengen Visa and these are: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, and Sweden.

HOW CAN I GET THE SCHENGEN VISA?

axa schengen travel insurance philippines

I have thoroughly discussed on this post on how you can get that Schengen Tourist Visa including the step-by-step guide, documentary requirements, as well as the frequently asked questions. It is noteworthy to say that one of the requirements is:

“A Travel Insurance that covers the entire duration of your intended stay with minimum coverage EUR 30,000”

Reading this at first glance will make you feel stressed thinking about where on earth can you get this and to answer that, you can get it from one of the best insurance providers in the country– AXA Schengen .

WHY SHOULD I GET MY SCHENGEN VISA TRAVEL INSURANCE FROM AXA?

Aside from being one of the best, if not the best insurance provider in the country, here are some of the many things why you should choose them as your insurance partner in your European Tour:

5 Reasons Why Albus Hotel is the Best Accommodation for Couples on a Budget in Amsterdam

1) AXA Schengen insurance is a Low-Cost Travel Insurance

With AXA, you can be protected in your entire trip in the Schengen Area for as low as 0.99 Euros per day. That’s really cheap compared to other insurance providers.

2) AXA Schengen insurance have an extended coverage outside the Schengen Area

With this Low-Cost Travel Insurance, not only will you get coverage in all the Schengen Countries, but you’ll also get coverage in Liechtenstein, San Marino, Andorra, Monaco, and Vatican City.

3) AXA Schengen insurance have all the benefits you’ll need

With this amount, you’ll get Emergency Medical Expenses for up to 30,000 Euros, Repatriation to the country of residence if necessary, Access to emergency medical care, and Assistance in case of death (which we all hope won’t happen).

4) AXA Schengen insurance have a 24/7 Emergency Helpline

If something comes up whatever time of the day it is and wherever you may be, expect a knowledgeable medical staff to pick up, answer all of your queries, and assist you in finding the best healthcare which is closest to you.

5) AXA Schengen insurance meets all the requirements from the European Regulation

Did you know that AXA is a French Company? Now you do and that’s probably one of the reasons why they are fully compliant with the European Regulation. I’m sure that if anything happens to you and you have the famous insurance from AXA, then things are gonna be easier!

6) AXA Schengen insurance is easy to avail!

With a few simple steps, you can get your Insurance Coverage within the comforts of your own home.

STEP 1: Choose your Insurance Package ;

STEP 2: Fill in your travel dates to receive an estimated rate;

STEP 3: Fill in the required details of the beneficiary;

STEP 4: Confirm your order and pay via Visa, AMEX, Mastercard, or PayPal; and

STEP 5: Wait for your policy to be sent to your email.

It is that easy! There’s absolutely no need for you to stress out about this very simple requirement :p

WHAT IF MY SCHENGEN VISA IS DENIED?

axa schengen travel insurance philippines

Now, this is the best part. There is absolutely no risk to get the insurance from AXA Schengen because unlike other insurance providers, AXA Schengen will refund the full price of the policy subject to the presentation of a letter of refusal. It will be returned to the same account you used to pay it with.

FAQS ABOUT AXA INSURANCE FOR THE SCHENGEN AREA

This include the Medical and surgical fees, medications prescribed by a local doctor or surgeon, the cost of urgent dental care, up to a maximum of €150 per insured party, the cost of hospitalisation if the doctors of AXA ASSISTANCE consider that the insured party cannot be transported, the costs of transport ordered by a doctor for a local journey.

5. How is the reimbursement made?

Thru your bank account . It will be reimbursed in Euros subject to the current exchange rate.

6. Do I need to bring the insurance policy when I enter the Schengen Area?

I highly suggest you bring your copy at all times. This is a very important document and the Immigration Officers might also ask this from you.

7. What if the insured party needed to be moved to another hospital following a medical incident?

The person who will determine this is the Medical Team of AXA Assistance. If he/she indeed deems it necessary, then they will organize and pay for the repatriation or transportation of the insured party who is ill or injured, under medical supervision if necessary, and according to the seriousness of the case by the following means: Rail (1st class), Ambulance, Regular airline in economy class with special equipment if necessary, and Medically-equipped aircraft.

axa schengen travel insurance philippines

If the condition of the insured party does not require hospitalization, he/she will be transported to his/her country of residence.

It is very important to know all about your Insurance Policy so make sure you read all the terms in the Insurance Policy . Don’t worry because unlike many insurance companies, their policy is in font size 11 which makes it easy for you to read. Haha. I don’t think I need to say more because, through all these years, they have already created a name for the company. It is indeed the Number 1 Global Insurance Brand which Filipinos can certainly trust! 🙂

List of Accredited Schengen Visa Travel Insurance in the Philippines 2020

Updated List of Accredited Schengen Visa Travel Insurance Companies Philippines this 2020. One of the requirements in the application of Schengen visa in the Philippines is the travel and medical insurance. This page displays the complete and updated list of accredited travel insurance companies associated with this special travel visa.

list of accredited schengen visa travel insurance companies philippines

What are the requirements, how much would it cost for this coverage and how to get this document ? Let’s proceed..

Embassies like Italy, French Embassy, Switzerland, Norway among others that belong to the 22 European countries and 3 non-European countries require this travel insurance policy so we must process this document before our visa application in the embassy of the country we choose to apply.

Table of Contents:

Schengen Visa Requirements for Travel Insurance

According to the VFS Global, the medical policies must state the following points:

  • Medical attention and treatment will be given in case of illness or accident
  • The injured or ill traveler can be transported home for treatment plus and with body repatriation in case of death
  • The insurance coverage is at least 30,000 Euros (50,000 USD)
  • The insurance must be valid for all 25 Schengen member states which should be listed on the policy
  • The insurance company must be re-insured, the name of the re-insurer and his Toll Free phone number must be listed on the policy
  • The policy must allow cashless settlements of claims. The name of the company in-charge of such settlements and their toll free number must be clearly stated on the policy

Travel Insurance (Minimum coverage of 30,000 euro with 15 days allowance). Some countries also require additional day-allowance so double-check the requirement from the embassy.

How much is the cost of travel insurance for a Schengen visa in the Philippines?

It depends upon the insurance company you choose but the price of premiums range from 50 Euro to 55 Euro (or 3000 pesos and above) for the P2.5 Million insurance coverage and closer. So prepare P3000 and above for your coverage.

How to apply for this travel insurance document?

If you have an agency that is processing all papers and requirements for you, they can easily get you one together with other groups of travelers.

Insurance policy and certificate is issued once you paid and filled out their application forms. You have to keep that certificate because it is required to submit in the embassy on your application for a Schengen visa.

If you want to get it yourself, you can do so since it’s so easy. Tell the insurance staff or underwriter you need travel insurance for your Schengen visa. They will then give you the forms you need to fill out with your personal information.

Choose the premiums and coverage required by the embassy (ie French Embassy, Spain Embassy, Italian Embassy in Manila etc). If you don’t know the requirement, just choose the minimum coverage listed above which is 30,000 Euros with 15 days allowance (current minimum requirement as I write this page).

Asia travel insurance: how to choose the best coverage

Travel insurance for asia.

Asia is known for its incredible diversity and is home to more than half the world’s population. From culture and history to religion to terrain, the world’s largest continent boasts unparalleled variety in every aspect, making it a popular destination for millions of tourists annually. Whether you’re looking to spend weeks in the mountains surrounded by nature, wish to experience living in a secluded village, or enjoy the best of city life, Asia has it all. This region's fantastic variety of food works like the cherry on top. While this region welcomes people from all across the world, there are specific requirements that tourists have to fulfill to visit and explore it.

Discover our travel insurance for Asia.

India Travel Insurance | Japan Travel Insurance | Thailand Travel Insurance | Vietnam Travel Insurance

Do You Need Travel Insurance for Asia?

It depends on the country you’re traveling to. Considering there are 48 countries in Asia, no single rule applies across the region. Some Asian countries require all foreign tourists to carry travel insurance, while some only require tourists from specific countries to have travel insurance, allowing others to visit without it. Moreover, the coverage requirement for each country that mandates travel insurance may also vary. Several countries that previously allowed international travelers to visit and explore their lands without insurance have made it necessary post-COVID.

Which Asian Countries Require Travel Insurance?

To facilitate your travel planning for Asia, here’s the list of countries that require tourists to carry insurance:

Countries with Fluid Insurance Coverage Rules for Travelers

Indonesia made it mandatory for all international travelers to carry travel insurance with COVID-19 coverage when it opened up for tourists post-pandemic. However, it is no longer a legal requirement. You have to show your COVID-19 vaccination proof.

Philippines

Philippine laws require unvaccinated tourists to get travel insurance with COVID-19 treatment coverage for a minimum of USD 35,000 from a reputable insurance company. The policy should remain valid for their entire duration of stay. However, fully vaccinated travelers are exempted from this condition and can travel to the Philippines without insurance. The term ‘fully vaccinated’ here refers to two standard doses and a booster for adults over 18 years and two classic shots for tourists aged 17 and under.

Russia requires all tourists who require a visa to enter the country to get travel insurance. It’s part of the visa requirements. However, tourists from countries with visa-free access to Russia can travel without insurance. American citizens (as anyone can guess) belong to the first category, which means they need travel insurance for Russia.

You’re only required to have travel health insurance for visiting Thailand when your next destination requires you to take a COVID-19 test before leaving Thailand.

Travel insurance is necessary for obtaining a Turkey visa. So, everyone needing a visa to travel to Turkey must buy a travel insurance policy. There is no minimum amount limit for coverage; however, it should be for the entire trip duration.

Asian Countries That Require All Tourists to Carry Travel Insurance

  • Israel – travel medical insurance with COVID-19 coverage
  • Jordan – travel medical insurance
  • Nepal – travel medical insurance with emergency assistance and medical repatriation coverage if tested positive for COVID-19
  • Oman – travel– travel medical insurance
  • Saudi Arabia – travel medical insurance with full coverage for COVID-19 treatment.
  • Singapore – travel insurance with COVID-19 treatment and hospitalization coverage for a minimum of USD30,000.
  • Sri Lanka – requires COVID insurance, regardless of travelers’ vaccination status.
  • UAE – The insurance must cover international healthcare for the entire trip duration.
  • Vietnam – Travel or medical insurance with COVID-19 treatment coverage for a minimum of USD 10,000.
  • Laos – travel medical insurance with a minimum coverage of USD 50,000
  • Iran – requires all foreign visitors to carry travel insurance
  • Qatar – All international tourists must have travel insurance

Apart from these, no other Asian country mandates travel insurance.

Travel Insurance is Always Encouraged

Though you are legally allowed to visit most Asian countries without travel insurance, it is still highly encouraged to carry one for several reasons. Traveling is never 100% risk-free. No matter how well-planned your trip is or how safe and secure the country or city you’re visiting is, there is always a chance that things might go wrong. You may fall sick, have an accident, miss a flight, or become a victim of crime. Insurance can come in handy in such unfortunate situations and save you from getting into any financial trouble in a foreign country.

Although an insurance policy can’t prevent a delay or cancellation from happening, it can help relieve the financial burden if something unpredictable does occur on your trip.

But how do you know which insurance provider to go with? Here's a look at AXA travel insurance to help you determine if one of its plans is right for you.

AXA is a French insurance company that does business in over 200 countries. It offers many different types of insurance, including policies for travelers. These include coverage for baggage loss , trip cancellation and interruption, emergency evacuation and emergency medical costs. Cancel for any reason coverage is also offered.

AXA Assistance USA is part of the AXA Group.

AXA Assistance USA offers travelers three insurance plans: Silver, Gold and Platinum. The plans are underwritten by Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company and their affiliates in Columbus, Ohio. Here's the coverage you can expect from each policy.

Silver: This is the least expensive plan that offers 100% trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage, $25,000 in emergency accident and sickness medical coverage and $100,000 in emergency evacuation and repatriation coverage.

Gold: The mid-range Gold policy comes with 100% trip cancellation and 150% trip interruption coverage, $100,000 in emergency accident and sickness medical coverage and $500,000 in emergency evacuation and repatriation coverage.

Platinum: The AXA Platinum travel insurance plan includes 100% trip cancellation and 150% trip interruption coverage, $250,000 in emergency accident and sickness medical coverage and $1,000,000 in emergency evacuation and repatriation coverage.

If you want to add Cancel For Any Reason coverage, you’ll need to select the Platinum plan and purchase a policy within 14 days of paying the initial trip deposit. It’ll cover 75% of the prepaid nonrefundable expenses for your travel.

If you’d like coverage for pre-existing medical conditions , a waiver is available on the Gold and Platinum plans as long as you buy coverage within 14 days of your first trip payment.

If you need a pre-existing conditions waiver, select the Gold or Platinum plan. You’ll also have to purchase the plan within 14 days of making your initial trip deposit to be eligible.

The Gold and Platinum levels are also the two plans that offer Schengen zone coverage and a collision damage waiver . The Platinum plan is the only one that offers a Cancel For Any Reason add-on, so keep that in mind if you need more protection.

Overall, if you’re looking for emergency medical and emergency evacuation coverage specifically, the limits are good on all the plans, including the least expensive one.

To compare plans from multiple insurance providers at once, we recommend checking out Squaremouth, a travel insurance comparison site and a NerdWallet partner. The website helps you pick the right plan by displaying multiple quotes from many insurance providers, including AXA, in one spot.

AXA began in the early 19th century as a small insurance company specializing in property and casualty insurance.

Since then, the company has evolved, changing names and acquiring other insurance brands, until it became AXA in the 1980s. It is now one of the largest insurance companies in the world. In other words, yes, AXA is a legitimate travel insurance provider.

Every plan has different exclusions, so it's important to look at your coverage summary. Generally, pre-existing conditions without a previously purchased waiver are not covered.

Other limitations include:

Intentionally self-inflicted injuries.

Participation in bodily contact or extreme sports.

Traveling for the purpose of securing medial treatment.

Accidental injury or sickness when traveling against the advice of a physician.

Non-emergency treatment or surgery.

AXA handles more than 14 million cases each year, and every plan includes access to their 24/7 assistance hotline. The company is well established and has three plans for travelers to choose from.

AXA travel insurance covers several benefits including but not limited to 100% trip cancellation and trip interruption, medical emergencies, emergency evacuations, baggage delay or lost baggage, and accidental death and dismemberment. The Platinum plan also lets you add Cancel For Any Reason coverage.

AXA's least expensive plan, Silver, and its mid-range Gold policy do not have the option to add-on Cancel For Any Reason coverage. For travelers who opt to purchase the Platinum insurance plan, you can add Cancel For Any Reason coverage a la carte within 14 days of paying the initial trip deposit.

In the event that you need to make a claim, you can upload supporting documents online. If the claim is accepted, you will receive reimbursement within 30 days.

It's said that travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer. But you don’t want to become poorer if something goes wrong before or during a trip. We don’t know what the universe has in store for us, so buying a travel insurance policy is one way we can protect our investment.

AXA offers budget, mid-range and premium policies that are easy to understand, provide adequate coverage and don’t cost a fortune.

If you’re planning a trip to Kenya, keep the following in mind.

Trips to Kenya are expensive

In 2022, the average trip to Kenya cost more than $11,500 per group, according to data published by SquareMouth . Travel insurance for Kenya can help you recoup some of your costs if something goes wrong during your trip.

For example, if you have to end your trip early due to a covered event, your insurance provider may reimburse your unused prepaid expenses, such as hotel stays and local excursions.

Traveling to Kenya

Not only is international travel expensive, but it also requires careful planning. If you depart from the United States, you may have to stop at Heathrow in London, Charles de Gaulle in Paris or Schiphol in Amsterdam. The more legs you have in your journey, the more likely it is that you’ll encounter at least one delay.

Attractions in Kenya

A trip to Kenya is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You can visit Mombasa, take a safari through the Maasai Mara National Reserve or walk through Amboseli National Park. If you love museums, you may want to travel to Nairobi, Kenya. You can even climb Mount Kenya or visit the Sarara Singing Wells in Laikipia.

Whether you’re feeling adventurous or looking for laid-back activities, many Kenya attractions are in remote locations. Travel insurance for Kenya covers the cost of medical evacuation, ensuring you get the care you need even if you’re far from the nearest medical facility.

You’re not legally required to have travel insurance for a trip to Kenya, but we highly recommend purchasing a policy.

Comprehensive travel insurance protects you in a variety of situations.

Risk of terrorism and political demonstrations

Due to ongoing conflict at the borders of Somalia, South Sudan and Ethiopia, Kenya has a higher-than-average risk of terrorism, kidnapping and political demonstrations. Travel insurance may cover trip cancellations or interruptions due to domestic terrorism or civil unrest.

Bandits and petty crime

Occasionally, bandits cross the Somalia/Kenya border to commit thefts and other petty crimes. These bandits are known as “shifta.” Carjackings and scams are also common. In many cases, Kenya travel insurance covers lost or stolen belongings.

Insect bites, illness and disease

Although the prevalence of malaria in Kenya has declined, it’s still rather common, according to USAID . Kenya is also home to several other insect-borne illnesses, including Rift Valley fever, Dengue, filariasis and African sleeping sickness. If food isn’t cooked and stored correctly, there’s also a risk of contracting hepatitis, measles, cholera and meningococcal diseases.

You can reduce your risk of contracting insect-borne illnesses by using bug spray during your trip. Vaccinations are also available for measles, hepatitis, meningitis and Dengue virus. Due to the risk of contracting these diseases, it’s essential to have medical coverage for your trip to Kenya.

Adventure activities

Some of the most popular attractions in Kenya involve adventure sports and other risky activities. For example, many people board hot-air balloons to watch the wildebeest migrate over Masai Mara.

Standard travel insurance generally doesn’t cover these activities, but it’s possible to purchase an adventure add-on for extra protection. Add-ons cover additional risks, making your travel insurance policy even more comprehensive.

Severe weather and natural disasters

Flash flooding, landslides and torrential rains are some of the possible weather-related risks you’ll encounter in Kenya. Your travel insurance provider may reimburse your prepaid costs if you have to cancel or interrupt a trip due to unforeseen risks. For example, if a landslide occurs without warning, you may be able to cancel and get your money back.

Kenya travel insurance covers a wide range of circumstances.

Let’s take a look at the different types of coverage to help you decide which ones are necessary for your trip.

Travel medical insurance

Imagine you’re looking for elephants at Amboseli National Reserve when you fall and break your femur. U.S. health insurance doesn’t work in Kenya, so you need travel medical insurance to cover the cost of your care. For example, you may need to undergo surgery or stay in the hospital for several days. SquareMouth recommends purchasing at least $100,000 in emergency medical coverage before you travel to Kenya.

Medical evacuation insurance

If you injure yourself while cycling through Hell’s Gate National Park, you can’t exactly have a tour guide drive you a few miles to a hospital. You’ll need to pay for medical evacuation, which is extremely expensive. SquareMouth recommends purchasing at least $250,000 in medical evacuation coverage , but some companies offer up to $1 million in medevac coverage per policy.

Trip cancellation insurance

Trip cancellation insurance allows you to cancel your trip for a covered reason and get reimbursed for your prepaid, nonrefundable expenses.

A covered reason is an unforeseen event that forces you to cancel your trip.

These are some examples:

  • Death of the traveler
  • Death of a travel companion
  • Death of a non-traveling family member
  • Natural disasters
  • Inclement weather (e.g. flash flooding during the rainy season)

Cancel-for-any-reason insurance

Regular cancellation coverage only reimburses you for covered events. If you’re concerned that you’ll have to cancel for another reason, purchase cancel-for-any-reason insurance .

CAFR allows you to cancel your trip for any reason, such as a change in travel plans or fear of kidnapping. Many providers allow you to get back 75% of your prepaid, nonrefundable expenses if you use your CAFR coverage.

Trip interruption insurance

Once you arrive in Kenya, you may encounter a circumstance that forces you to end your trip early. For example, if you contract a foodborne illness, you may be too ill to enjoy all the activities on your itinerary. Trip interruption insurance reimburses the unused portion of your prepaid, nonrefundable expenses.

Assume you spent $700 per night on your hotel and planned to stay in Kenya for seven nights. If you have to end your trip after just two nights, your trip interruption insurance would reimburse you $3,500 ($700 per night for five unused nights).

Trip delay insurance

Unless you live in or around New York City, it’s tough to get a direct flight to Kenya. It’s more likely that you’ll have several layovers, increasing the likelihood of a delay. For example, if one of your flights takes off late, you may miss your connection, throwing off the whole trip.

Trip delay insurance reimburses you for the loss of prepaid expenses caused by delays. It also covers delay-related costs, such as meals, transportation and overnight accommodations. For example, if a long delay causes you to miss your first prepaid excursion, your trip delay insurance should reimburse you for the loss.

Adventure activity coverage

People flock to Diani Beach, just south of Mombasa, to go jet skiing and enjoy other adventure activities. Since standard insurance policies don’t cover these activities, you may need to purchase an add-on.

Baggage insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance also covers lost, stolen, delayed or damaged baggage. For example, if your luggage arrives in Kenya two days after you do, your insurer may reimburse you for the cost of buying new toiletries or purchasing clothing to wear during the first few days of your trip.

Kenya travel insurance typically doesn’t cover the following:

  • Injuries arising from drug/alcohol use or illicit activities
  • Normal pregnancy expenses
  • Preexisting medical conditions
  • Cancellations/interruptions due to foreseeable events
  • Fear of flying/fear of travel
  • Named storms
  • Medical tourism

Travel insurance for a trip to Kenya can cost as little as around $2 per day for basic medical and medevac coverage.

To give you a better idea of how much coverage costs , we got price quotes from some of the top insurance providers . All of our price quotes follow Squaremouth’s guidelines of having at least $100,000 in emergency medical coverage and at least $250,000 in medical evacuation coverage.

The quotes are based on the following criteria:

  • Age: 50 years old
  • State of residency: California
  • Destination: Kenya
  • Trip Length: 14 days
  • Time of trip: August 2024
  • Trip cost: $8,000

For this first example, we got quotes for basic coverage. These travel insurance plans cost around $2 to $5 per day .

Example Where Plan Doesn’t Reimburse the Full Trip Cost

For our next example, our quotes are for comprehensive plans that include trip cancellation and interruption coverage. They range from around $26 to $54 per day .

Example Where Plan Does Reimburse the Full Trip Cost

Keep in mind that the cost of travel insurance varies based on several factors:

  • The length of the trip
  • The total trip cost
  • Number of travelers in the group
  • Your destination

This means that how much you’ll pay will differ from the quotes displayed above. For accurate pricing, we recommend you try getting a quote .

To get the best travel insurance for Kenya, follow these steps:

Review your transportation options.

If you have to take multiple flights or use some type of public transportation when you arrive in Kenya, you’ll need extra coverage for delays.

Check your itinerary.

There’s no such thing as a risk-free trip, but some activities are riskier than others. If you plan to climb Mount Kenya, go ballooning or participate in other adventure activities, make sure you purchase add-on coverage.

Buy your policy as early as possible.

Travel insurance only covers unforeseen events, which are events that happen unexpectedly. The longer you wait to purchase coverage, the more likely it is that an unforeseen event will turn into a foreseen event, preventing you from recouping your costs. For example, if you buy a policy after a named storm forms, your insurer won’t reimburse you for any losses associated with the storm.

Is it safe to visit Kenya?

It’s generally safe to visit Kenya, but pay close attention to your surroundings and keep your belongings secure. The U.S. State Department recommends avoiding areas of Kenya that are close to the country’s border with Somalia. Some coastal areas of Kenya also have an increased risk of kidnapping.

You’re not required to purchase travel insurance for Kenya, but we highly recommend it. A comprehensive travel insurance policy can save you the heartache of losing your money if you have to cancel or end your trip early.

Does health insurance for Kenya cover travel expenses?

Standard health insurance only covers medical expenses incurred during your trip, but it’s possible to purchase a comprehensive policy that reimburses you for a variety of travel-related expenses.

Can I buy travel insurance after I've started my trip to Kenya?

It depends on the provider. Some companies allow you to purchase insurance after you’ve started your trip, but others don’t. We recommend buying in advance of your trip to get the broadest coverage.

Is medical travel insurance worth it for a trip to Kenya?

Absolutely. U.S. health insurance doesn’t work in Kenya, so you’ll need some way to cover any emergency medical expenses you incur during your trip.
