"Starcatcher" debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart and reached No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums, Top Hard Rock Albums and Top Rock & Alternative Albums, plus it charted internationally in Germany (No. 2),Switzerland (No. 2),Belgium (No. 4),Austria (No. 6),the Netherlands (No. 7),the U.K. (No. 8),Italy (No. 18) and Canada (No. 19). "Starcatcher" is the band's second top 10 album, following 2021's "The Battle At Garden's Gate" .

Of the new album, singer Josh Kiszka states: " 'Starcatcher' is a dangerous and delightful expedition into a both violent and gentle dreamlike landscape. A purgatory of duality where brutality and beauty clash like a thunderstorm of stillness. Neither fact nor fiction inhabit the far reaches of this surrealist world. A storybook for the fighters and lovers alike 'Starcatcher' captures a certain wonder on the fringe of mayhem."

"Starcatcher" was written and recorded by the band — Josh , Jake , bassist/keyboardist Sam Kiszka and drummer Danny Wagner — alongside Grammy -winning producer Dave Cobb ( Chris Stapleton , Brandi Carlile ). Recorded at the legendary RCA Studios in Nashville, the band utilized the large recording room to capture the pure energy of their world-renowned live performances. Throughout the ten-song collection the band explores the duality of fantasy versus reality and the contrast between light and darkness.

"We had this idea that we wanted to tell these stories to build a universe," says Wagner . "We wanted to introduce characters and motifs and these ideas that would come about here and there throughout our careers through this world."

“Meeting The Master peers into an esoteric world heeded by the word of a wise teacher," explain Greta Van Fleet in a statement. "Sung in the voice of a devout believer, and eventual group exclamation, the song details the love these fervent followers have for their teacher and their firm belief in his vision. After his ear ruptured in Maine, Kiszka said he’d been  experiencing a “situation”  in his left ear that’s “caused plenty of infections, tinnitus (ringing in the ear) and difficulty hearing” — leading Greta Van Fleet to postpone three shows in support of their latest album, The Battle at Garden’s Gate .

After playing at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas, in early November, the band had to reschedule four more shows. “I just wanted to express how beautiful and how awe-inspiring these couple of shows have really been, truly. Also, unfortunately, they’ve been rather painful,” he said in a video message to fans announcing the postponements. “The last time I spoke with you, I had asked for your understanding; I was dealing with a ruptured eardrum. Unfortunately, while the eardrum continues to heal, it also has continued to cause me great deal of physical pain, which has made it very difficult to perform.”

The band is continuing their wildly successful Starcatcher Tour

Greta Van Fleet live 2023

Next year, Greta Van Fleet are extending their Starcatcher Tour. The band confirmed Tuesday plans for a new round of dates across the United States. The trek begins on April 27 at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri and wraps up on May 21 at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Very special guests for the trek will be Geese. Tickets go on sale this Friday, October 27 at 10am local time HERE . Fans can also enter the Electric Tomb HERE for early ticket access.

Back in August, Greta Van Fleet have revealed a new music video for their song, “The Falling Sky.” The track is from the band’s all-new album,  Starcatcher , which arrived on July 21 via Lava/Republic Records. Stream the official music video below now.

“A peer into the wilds of a starlit oblivion, this visual representation of ‘The Falling Sky’ demonstrates the darkness and barbarity in a world filled with such duality,” says guitarist Jake Kiszka. “In essence, a reminder of the complexity of the human soul and all it is capable of enduring; a letter of love written to the rising sun.”

Greta Van Fleet’s third studio album   was produced by Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Rival Sons). The band recorded the album at RCA Studios in Nashville. It peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, and took the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top Rock and Top Alternative Albums charts. In the UK, the record landed at No. 2 on the Rock & Metal Albums Chart.

The band are currently trekking across North America on their  Starcatcher World Tour . The run began July 24 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, where they opened the show with “The Falling Sky.” Revisit our review and live photos from the tour kickoff  HERE . The tour wraps up on December 6 at Campo Pequeno in Lisbon, Portugal. Special guests throughout the run will be Kaleo, Surf Curse, Mt. Joy and Black Honey on select dates. The run also has seen the band perform at  Sea Hear Now  in Asbury Park, New Jersey alongside Foo Fighters, The Killers, and more.

The classic-rock revivalists will join Metallica on August 11 and 14, before hitting 9 cities in Canada and 30 in North America

Greta Van Fleet

Greta Van Fleet have extended their Dreams in Gold 2022 tour, adding a sprawling North America leg to occur in the fall. It will follow a string of dates in the US and South America in March through July.

The classic rock revivalists will join Metallica for two stops in New York and Pittsburgh on August 11 and 14, respectively, before hitting nine cities in Canada and 30 in the US. The trek will wrap up at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California on November 12.

Special guests set to appear include The Pretty Reckless, Hannah Wicklund, Houndmouth, Robert Finley, Durand Jones & The Indications, Crown Lands and Fruit Bats.

Fan presale and local venue presale will take place on March 2 and 3, respectively, followed by general public on-sale from March 4 at 12PM local time. Head to the band's website for more info.

Greta Van Fleet's Dreams in Gold Tour is in support of their 2021 album, The Battle at Garden's Gate . Two albums and two EPs down, Josh Kiszka and co remain a divisive band in modern rock music, with some saying their music gives the genre a much-needed shot in the arm, and others noting their likeness to classic-rock heavyweights like Led Zeppelin.

“I actually think it's a beautiful thing,” guitarist Jake Kiszka told Guitar World last year. “There's something sort of perfect about having one or another direct response to what we’re doing. It’s the essential point, really. Music can affect somebody in a very loving, peaceful or inspirational way, or it can go the other way and you have a determined opposite reaction in which people are infuriated by it. I think that’s the objective of all artists.”

GRAMMY Award-winning band Greta Van Fleet will embark on a series of specialty events, “Strange Horizons”—their only headline shows in 2021—at iconic venues including FirstBank Amphitheater in TN; Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in CT; Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in Chicago, IL, and Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre beginning later this summer.

These limited engagements follow the band’s extensive touring history, which saw them sell 1 million+ tickets in five continents over the span of three years. “It is truly a monumental time in history to be able to perform again,” the band shares, “We are honored to experience these special shows with all of those who will be in attendance. Let us, once again, come together & celebrate the privilege of life!”

‘we’re only in it for the money’: a frank zappa and the mothers of invention classic.

The four-piece recently released their sophomore album The Battle at Garden’s Gate to extensive chart success and critical acclaim, debuting at No.1 Billboard Rock Album, No.1 Billboard Hard Rock Album, No.1 Billboard Vinyl Album, No.2 Billboard Top Album Sales and in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. The band has also raised over $15k for various non-profits via collaboration products with apparel companies including Parks Project.

The Battle at Garden’s Gate explores the boundaries of the group’s artistry and reflects heavily on the individual members’ personal and spiritual growth during their rapid rise. “There was a lot of self-evolution happening during the writing of this album that was prompted by experiences I had, experiences we all had,” explains vocalist Josh Kiszka. “It’s reflecting a lot of the world that we’ve seen, and I think that it’s reflecting a lot of personal truth,” says guitarist Jake Kiszka.

Greta Van Fleet on Their Fourth Album, Upcoming World Tour, and Envy-Worthy Rockstar Style

By Concetta Ciarlo

Greta Van Fleet on Their Fourth Album Upcoming World Tour and EnvyWorthy Rockstar Style

Between front man Josh Kiszka’s boundless vocal range, the group’s elaborate onstage ensembles, and a sound that puts a fresh spin on classic rock, Greta Van Fleet  provides nothing short of a feast for the senses. They’re also a laugh riot. (The Michigan-bred band is something of a family affair, if you couldn’t tell just by looking at them: Josh’s twin, Jake, plays lead guitar; Sam, their younger brother, on bass; and drummer Daniel Wagner is a close friend.)

Josh and Sam are the half of the band that Zoom with me from Nashville, their spirits high and brotherly banter quick and funny. Yet both are deadly serious about their craft, describing how they carefully calibrate each song, outfit, and pyrotechnics-packed performance for maximum effect.

Greta Van Fleet on Their Fourth Album Upcoming World Tour and EnvyWorthy Rockstar Style

Greta Van Fleet first captivated audiences with their second EP, 2017’s From the Fire s , which earned them a Grammy for best rock album in 2019. Now the band is set to release their fourth album,  Starcatcher , on July 21 and embark on a world tour not long thereafter. Asked how they’re feeling about fans finally hearing the new record, the Kiszka brothers don’t mince words: Josh quips that he’s “scared shitless.”

“I’m surprised every time a song comes out, and I get a notification on my phone that Greta Van Fleet released a new single,” Sam wryly adds.

Their anticipation is owed, in part, to the unconventional creative process from which Starcatcher emerged. The band went into the studio with a loose structure for half of the album’s tracks, leaving the rest to spur-of-the-moment jamming. “One of our main goals for  Starcatcher  was to create something candid, exciting, and authentic,” Sam says. “It’s likely the least-preconceived album we’ve ever put together,” adds Josh. “So much of it came to life in the studio, and it was very lively in that sense. A lot of the things that were happening and recorded on the final take only happened once.” He continues, “I had to embrace this philosophy that the only thing we have to hold onto is letting go, because typically I’m very neurotic and want to have things exact.”

Among the 10 tracks’ highlights are the strum-y, spectral “Meeting the Master” and “Sacred The Thread”—a song that Josh wrote about his iconic collection of jumpsuits, each of which he’s given a name. (There’s the nautical jumpsuit, the hierophant jumpsuit, and the red rock jumpsuit, to name just a few of his favorites.) “I’ve lost track of how many jumpsuits I’ve got at this point, which is a very good sign of hedonism and self-indulgence in self-expression,” he says, laughing.

Indeed, self-expression is another thing that this group takes very seriously. As they enter their Starcatcher era, the brothers and bandmates are eager to present their most authentic selves. While Josh recently took a stance  on LGBTQ+ rights in Tennessee on Instagram, describing his “loving, same-sex relationship” with his partner of eight years, the band’s plan as performers is to turn the visuals for their upcoming tour up to a 10.

All that begins with their wardrobe. “[Our style] has to be cohesive and feel slightly intentional,” Sam says. “We’ve become more planned in our style as we’ve evolved, because Elton John gave us permission to do that.” He’s not kidding—Sir Elton John himself attended a Greta Van Fleet show in London in 2018, during the band’s early days, and went backstage afterward to personally encourage them to flaunt their stuff.

The brothers agree that getting dressed up to perform is a deeply personal and somewhat competitive process for all of them. They constantly try to out-do one another, stealing glimpses at each other’s style references (Sam’s inspiration for the last tour was 17th-century armor; for this one, Josh is into 1970s Elvis and Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra ), sketching their ideas in colored pencils, and then working with designer  Amber Doyle  to bring them to life. Based in New York, Doyle is perhaps best know for designing Phoebe Bridgers’s signature skeleton costume —as well as the blue power suit that Fezco’s grandma wears in season two, episode one of Euphoria .

“What I like to do through a tour is evolve my look,” Sam says. “I’ll start with one version one of a suit, and then during the next leg, we’ll redesign it—maybe there’s more gold, embroidered swords, or beads.” Dramatic stage makeup has also worked its way into Greta Van Fleet's aesthetic universe; it was Josh’s idea, inspired by the likes of Annie Lennox and David Bowie, to take the rhinestones from their jumpsuits and migrate them to their faces. (Since last summer, fans have joyfully followed along with the band’s cosmetic creations—and satirical commentary and skits—via their popular TikTok series  Rhinestoned Diaries .)

“You have to give yourself permission to go there and open up to the idea of being your flamboyant self and being confident in who you are, and [for me] that’s what the wardrobe achieves,” Josh reflects. “I’ve had horrible days where I’ve been so anxious, and I can’t possibly fathom going on stage. But when I put on the jumpsuit, all of a sudden it completely changes, and I’m like, I’ve arrived. It’s a uniform, and it’s a suit of armor.”

Gretaw Van Fleet — which consists of the Kiszka brothers-twins Josh in vocals & Jake in guitar, Sam in bass guitar and keyboards, along with Danny Wagner in drums — made a breakthrough in 2017 with their chart-topping debut single, “Highway Tune.”

By the release of their debut full-length studio album Anthem of the Peaceful Army in 2018, the band had garnered attention from rock fans with their hit tracks from their first two studio EPs, “Black Smoke Rising” and “From the Fires.” The latter earned the band a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2019.

After the success of the debut and sophomore albums that topped the Billboard hard rock charts, Greta Van Fleet dropped their third studio album of the same title with their ongoing tour, Starcatcher , in July 2023.

Occasionally compared to the legendary band Led Zeppelin’s vocal style and sound in their early days in music industry, Greta Van Fleet has proven to be more than that over the years with consecutive hit tracks and sold-out concerts.

Guy Fieri’s Inaugural Flavortown Festival Canceled

Guy Fieri ‘s first attempt at entering the music festival space has gone awry, with the Flavortown Festival being canceled for 2024.

Fieri had initially announced his plans to launch a music-meets-food festival back in January with rock band Greta Van Fleet and country superstar Kane Brown set to headline the music weekend, which was scheduled to take place on June 1 and 2 in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

“You’ve been askin’ and we’ve been plannin’… Flavortown Fest is comin’ to Columbus,” said Fieri in a statement upon the initial announcement of the festival. “And I couldn’t be more stoked to finally announce that we’re bringing the heat to the Flavortown stage with my buddies Kane Brown, Greta Van Fleet, Bret Michaels, LOCASH, Niko Moon and even more to come.”

Per the local NBC 4 affiliate in Columbus , the festival was also set to “feature eats and experiences from some of Guy’s favorite Triple D restaurants from the Columbus area and around the country while offering the ultimate experience for foodies to eat, drink and party with the Mayor of Flavortown himself.”

But, a spokesperson told the NBC4 affiliate on Thursday (Feb. 29), “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Fest, initially planned for June 1-2 in Columbus, Oh, has been canceled. Thank you to all our Flavortown Fest fans for understanding and your support along this journey.”

The spokesperson said organizers are issuing full refunds to everyone who purchased passes.

Fieri had initially planned to launch Flavortown Cares, an impact program to aid the Columbus community, with a portion of proceeds from the tickets for the festival. Monies were to be directed to the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Ohio and the Mid-Ohio Food Collective. But although the festival is no more for 2024, a $10,000 donation was still expected to be made to the three charity partners.
