Kreider Farms: Dairy Farm Tour Tickets Up to 53% off Regular Price

Dairy-Farm Tour at Kreider Farms

Here is a deal for the Lancaster, PA area readers. Groupon is offering tickets to a Dairy-Farm Tour at Kreider Farms for up to 53% off the regular price.

Farm Tour includes:

  • 90 minute tour to learn how Kreider Farms operates and participates with sustainable agricultural practices
  • Drive through the Cow Palace and see our cows take a ride on the Milking Carousel
  • Each guest will receive a sample of Kreider Farms fresh milk

All big things start small, but few major farms start as small as family-owned Kreider Farms did, with 102 acres of land and only 12 cows. Today, the farm spans more than 2,500 acres and includes approximately 5 million egg-laying chickens, 2,000 cows, and 225 employees. The farm distributes its eggs, milk, and premium ice cream throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, and reports that it has become one of the largest egg producers in the state of Pennsylvania. Kreider Farms’ wares have been endorsed by multiple chefs, a more meaningful accolade than the cardboard crowns of excellence distributed by fast-food eateries. The farm takes its environmental mission seriously, treating the land with respect and adopting ethical and environmentally responsible practices. Workers happily share their knowledge and story with others during 90-minute farm tours or virtual tours on the website.

Kreider’s Farm: Manheim, PA

by Sarah Einhorn | Oct 23, 2017 | 1 comment

The Kreider’s Farm Tour offers a 90 minute tour of their state of the art dairy farm. With views of the Cow Palace, “Mooternity” barn and the milking “Cowrasel”. Kreider’s produces 1/3 of the milk for the Kosher market under the name Pride of the Farm. All their milk is produced according to laws of kashrus. A stamp of the Hebrew day of the month near the regular date shows that there was a mashgiach on site even if it is not bottled under the Pride of the Farm label.

The tour starts at the new Kreider’s Farms Welcome Center. There are various types of tours. Visitors can go on a bus tour, a trolley tour or a car tour where the guide is in his own car and the visitors follow behind in their car and tune into a radio station where the guide provides commentary and explanations of what is being seen.

The highlight of our tour was driving through the loafing barn also known as the cow palace and then watching the milking. It is truly fascinating. The cholav Yisrael chocolate milk we received at the end of the tour made it all the more delicious.

Outside the milking merry go round, children can try their hand at milking as there is a figure of a cow that sprays water into a pail when the children squeeze its udder.

The Silo Observation Tower with its spiral stair case circling the out-of-use genuine silo, affords visitors with a panoramic view of the area and farmland. Visitors must be 42 inches or taller to climb the tower.

Kreider Farms Farm Tour – Lancaster, PA

The entire tour is filled with facts and humor, and any age and group size is welcome! (However- please note that all tours are made by reservation only!)

You start your tour at the Manheim Grill & Restaurant on Rt. 72 in Manheim. Your delightful tour guide will show up in a Kreider Farms uniform, with a “farm tour” flag on top of their vehicle. He or she will place a flag on your vehicle and instruct you to turn your radio to a specific station. This will allow you to hear your tour guide the entire time you are following them in your own vehicle. You drive your vehicle for the majority of the tour with the exception of getting out at the farm to see the Milking Carousel, where the milking takes place.

The drive from the Manheim Grill & Restaurant to the farm is relatively short. During the trip your tour guide will tell you all about the history of the farm. What started as a 103 acres farm with a dozen dairy cows, and 200 chickens has now grown to over 2,500 acres with over 1,500 dairy cows and over 2 million chickens!

You can view the Kreider Farm chicken coups from afar, but because humans carry certain germs that can make chickens sick the actual inside of the coups is not included in the tour.

Our tour guide taught us all about silos, and how dangerous they were! My kids were very interested in the pile of tires and amazed to find out that under all those tires was food for the cows!

I assumed that my kids very favorite part of the tour would be the cows- but my boys were just as amazed at the farm equipment as they were the cows!

One of our favorite parts of the tour was the Cow Palace. The huge loafing bar has a road smack down the middle of it! We were able to drive in and see all the cows waiting to be milked! Milking all of the cows is a full time, 24 hour a day job. Each of the cows is milked three times per day!

When we got to the milking parlor we were all able to get out of the vehicle. Our tour guide explained to us exactly how Kreider milks their cows and asked the kids all sorts of silly questions- most of which they got right!

The milking merry-go-round- by far was the best part of the tour. The cow walks into the stall, is sprayed with a special disinfectant and then a farm hand puts the milking machine on each of the cows udders! The cow rides the eight minute circle around and then gets backs themselves off!

After watching the cows get milked- each of us got a ½ pint of Kreider Farms fresh milk! You could pick either chocolate or white milk!

I am very pleased to report that our entire family had fun at Kreider Farms! It was fun, not to long of a tour and very informative. My kids learn the best when they are having fun and now they understand where their milk comes from!

View the video below for a bit more information on Kreider Farms!

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
  • The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is  90 seconds .

See the best examples of underground Soviet-era architecture on a 1.5-hour walking tour of Moscows metro stations! With an expert guide at your side, visit five of Moscows must-see stations, including iconic Mayakovskaya , and learn all about Stalins visions for the former Soviet Union. Hear about the Metro-2, a secret line said to have been used by the government and Kgb , and see grandiose architecture, mosaics, sculptures and more!

Know More about this tour

Meet your expert guide outside the Kremlin and head underground with your Moscow metro ticket to discover the citys underground treasures. See the most interesting stations with extravagant Soviet-era architecture and hear the history surrounding the metro stations from your expert guide. Widely praised as one of Stalins finest architectural achievements, Moscow 's subway was created to symbolize his rising regime and a recognized empire. Learn about his successors, who later toned down the ornateness of the subways architecture, and see how the different eras are reflected in the character of each station. If you're lucky, you may even find the secret entrance to the unconfirmed Metro-2, a parallel underground system used by the government -- a mystery which has neither been denied nor confirmed today. Visit Revolution Square Station ( Ploschad revolyutsii ) and admire the 72 magnificent bronze sculptures that depict the people of the former Soviet Union, set underneath marble arches designed by the legendary Russian architect Alexey Dushkin. Another Dushkin-created station is Novoslobodskaya , and youll head here next to admire its dazzling stained-glass panels. Discover Baroque dcor, vaulted ceilings and chandeliers at Komsomolskaya Station, and then marvel at the grandiose and pompous design of Kurskaya Station -- one of the first stations to be built. Its design reflects Stalins communist ideals and youll note its left-wing slogans on the walls, next to mosaics that symbolize the victory of his regime over poverty and starvation. Finally, pay a visit to Mayakovskaya , the station thats named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky, and see why its often considered the most beautiful and iconic Moscow Metro station. Gaze upward at some 30 fascinating mosaics that depict Stalins vision for a bright Soviet future, and then admire the features of typical pre-World War II architecture that the station embodies. Your tour ends here.
