An evening you will never forget, with so much lovely music. The audience catches up with his presence, getting around to the audience, and amazing voice. A lovely evening that lives forever.

The Drifters show was absolutely perfect throughout. Skilled artists who sang us through an unforgettable evening. Ray Lewis is the best intertainer, ever. The stage performance was perfect. An evening you will never forget, with so many lovely songs from Ray Lewis and his talented singers.

The Drifters were great and what I expected. Was glad to see the Flamingos but they did too mant new songs and not the old favorites I expected to hear. I believe they were more into promoting their new CD than singing the classics I love so much. Also Joey Dee was great on his songs but didn't appreciate going off base with I will Survive, Heatwave, etc. Also the lead vocals thru the sound system or the Flamingos and Joey Dee were a little loud for that size room and sometimes sounded distorted.

ABOUT THE GROUP

Rick Sheppard traces his history with The Drifters back to when the group recorded for Atlantic Records in the 1960s. During The Drifters celebrated years, spanning the 1950s and 1960s, there were two distinct periods. The first, dating from the early 1950s, highlighted the voice of the legendary Clyde McPhatter. Later in the decade and throughout the 1960s, The Drifters enjoyed their greatest commercial success, recording such classics as “Under The Boardwalk,” “Up On The Roof,” and “On Broadway.” This period of The Drifters history featured the years when Ben E. King was part of the group. The Drifters recorded for Atlantic Records over three decades. During the 1950s and 1960s, The Drifters enjoyed the majority of their recorded success with hit after hit including “Under The Boardwalk”, “On Broadway”, “This Magic Moment”, “Up On The Roof”, and “Save The Last Dance For Me”. Rick Sheppard recorded with The Drifters for Atlantic Records during the 1960s and 1970s. In the group at that time were Charlie Thomas, the late Johnny Moore and the late Bill Fredericks There are only two living members who recorded with The Drifters on Atlantic Records. Rick Sheppard is one of those two legendary members. Anyone else who claims he recorded with The Drifters in the 1960s for Atlantic Records or any group performing as The Drifters claiming a direct link to Atlantic Records in the 1960s is simply not telling the truth. Now, as then, The Drifters featuring Rick Sheppard continue to perform the classic Drifters repertoire with energy, style, and a high degree of professionalism. They are the embodiment of pop music (no, not doowop, but pop music) at its finest.

The legendary group have been inducted into the Rock & Roll of fame, performed for the President of the United States and listed among the greatest artists of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.

THE HISTORY OF THE DRIFTERS

The Drifters were created in 1953 by George Treadwell & Clyde McPhatter.  George Treadwell managed the group and laid the foundation of what would make the Drifters one of the greatest groups of all time.  Clyde McPhatter was the lead singer of the group that also saw numerous members over the years but two others stood out above the rest.  Johnny Moore and Ben E King.

After George’s untimely death in 1967, it was down to his widow Faye to continue with the group and to determine the direction they would take. Faye took the Drifters onto great achievements that saw the group grow and become a household name.

The Drifters delivered numerous hits on both sides of the Atlantic that saw them inducted into the ‘Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’ in 1988. In 1993 The Drifters were requested by the President of the United States of America to perform at the White House. In 2004 The Drifters were listed by ‘Rolling Stone Magazine’ in the top 100 ‘Greatest Artists of All Time’. 

Faye Treadwell passed away in May 2011 and then it was down to Tina Treadwell (daughter to George & Faye) to continue the legacy of The Drifters.  Tina Treadwell has been in the entertainment industry all her life.  She has worked for Disney Channel, and she oversaw careers of the new generation of stars coming through such as Britney Spears & Justin Timberlake. Tina also produced Michael Jackson’s birthday party in Los Angeles in 2003 and today spearheads the TEG (Treadwell Entertainment Group) that deals with artists both in music and acting.

Tina is most excited that The Drifters have continued to be loved and adored by fans worldwide and that the vision her father had for the group along with the determination of her mother has seen the group survive and continue strong 65 years on.  Tina is currently working with fellow recognised producers that will see the story of The Drifters be told both in the West End (London) and Broadway (New York).

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Team Luke is hosting a charity dinner and concert in Lubbock, hoping to inspire support for children living with brain injuries.

The Inspiring Hope Dinner and Concert is scheduled for Wednesday night; attendees can expect performances from Pat Green and Cory Morrow. The Hub City Drifters will open the concert.

The dinner has been sold out , but general admission tickets to the concert are still available here .

WHAT:     

The Annual Inspiring Hope Dinner and Concert in Lubbock, a celebration of

unity, compassion, and arts aims to inspire attendees to support children

with an acquired brain injury. While the dinner is sold out, general admission

tickets to the concert are available for $33 online and at the door! During the

sold-out dinner, philanthropist and tennis legend Andy Roddick will share his

journey as a former No. 1 world tennis player.

WHO:      

Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Pat Green and Cory Morrow will

reunite for a special performance. Both artists share a deep connection to

the Lubbock music scene and Texas Tech University. Known as the Panhandle

Heroes and West Texas legends, The Hub City Drifters will open for Green and

THE DRIFTERS GIRL Comes to The King's Theatre, Glasgow This Month

Casting has been announced for the first-ever UK and Ireland tour of The Drifters Girl, the acclaimed new West End musical which tells the remarkable story of one of the world's greatest vocal groups and the woman who made them featuring hit songs include Stand By Me, Saturday Night At The Movies and Save The Last Dance For Me.

Carly Mercedes Dyer will play music industry change-maker, Faye Treadwell. Last year, Carly played 'Erma' in Anything Goes ( Barbican Theatre ), for which she won the WhatsOnStage Award (2022) for Best Supporting Performer in a Female Identifying Role. She was also nominated for the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for the role.

Carly will star alongside Ashford Campbell , who hit UK screens in ITV's The X Factor as member of The Risk mentored by Tulisa Contostavlos. He continues his journey with The Drifters Girl having performed as part of the West End company. 

The cast also welcomes Jaydah Bell-Ricketts (A Little Princess, Royal Festival Hall; School Of Rock, Gillian Lynne Theatre) to her first touring role as Girl alongside Miles Anthony DALEY ( Tina Turner : The Musical, Aldwych Theatre; Choir of Man, Arts Theatre), Tarik Frimpong (The Wiz, Hope Mill Theatre; Aladdin, Prince Edward Theatre ) and Daniel Haswell (Aint Too Proud, Prince Edward Theatre ; The Book of Mormon, UK Tour; Motown: The Musical, UK & Ireland Tour).

Completing the cast is Loren Anderson, Tre Copeland-Williams, Ethan Davis, MATTHEW DAWKINS and Linseigh Green.

Having played to packed houses and nightly standing ovations at the Garrick Theatre in London's West End (following a triumphant run at Newcastle's Theatre Royal), the production recently announced a UK Tour arriving for one week only at The King's Theatre, Glasgow on 9 April 2024 following huge public demand to extend the initial tour dates.

Telling the remarkable story of The Drifters, one of the world's greatest vocal groups, and the truth about the woman who made them. Faye Treadwell is the legendary manager of The Drifters who fought for three decades alongside her husband ( George Treadwell ) to turn Atlantic Records' hottest vocal group into a global phenomenon.

From the highs of hit records and sell-out tours to the lows of legal battles and personal tragedy, The Drifters Girl charts the trailblazing efforts of the world's first African American female music manager and how she refused to ever give up on the group she loved. Thirty years and hundreds of hit songs later, there is no doubt that Faye Treadwell was and always will be, The Drifters Girl.

The Drifters Girl boasts an incredible soundtrack of some of the most famous songs in history, including Save The Last Dance For Me, Under The Boardwalk, Kissin In The Back Row Of The Movies, Stand By Me, Come On Over To My Place, Saturday Night At The Movies and many more.

The Drifters Girl, with a book by  Ed Curtis , is based on an idea by  Tina Treadwell  and is co-created by  Beverley Knight ,  Adam J Bernard ,  Tarinn Callender ,  Matt Henry  and  Tosh Wanogho-Maud . It is directed by  Jonathan Church . Set design is by  Anthony Ward , choreography by  Karen Bruce , costume design by  Fay Fullerton , lighting design by  Ben Cracknell , sound design by  Tom Marshall , video design by  Andrzej Goulding , orchestrations by  Chris Egan and  Will Stuart as Musical Supervisor.

Theatres in Moscow

Cultural life of Moscow city is various and rich! Operas, ballets, symphonic concerts... Russian composers have created some of the most beautiful classical music. Russian classical music is very popular in Moscow. It is performed in many beautiful historical venues. Do not forget to include a visit to a concert hall in your itinerary when you are planning your stay in Moscow! And do it in advance.

There are almost no restrictions on dress code in Russian theatres. Visitors may wear jeans and sports shoes, they may have a backpack with them. Only shorts are not allowed.

A typical feature of Russian theatre – visitors are bringing a lot of flowers which they present to their favorite performers after the show.

Here are some practical advices where to go and how to buy tickets.

The Bolshoi Theatre

The Bolshoi Theatre is the oldest, the most famous and popular opera and ballet theatre in Russia. The word “Bolshoi” means “big” in Russian. You can buy a ticket online in advance, 2-3 months before the date of performance on the official website . Prices for famous ballets are high: 6-8 thousand rubles for a seat in stalls. Tickets to operas are cheaper: you can get a good seat for 4-5 thousand rubles. Tickets are cheaper for daytime performances and performances on the New Stage. The New Stage is situated in the light-green building to the left of the Bolshoi's main building. The quality of operas and ballets shown on the New Stage is excellent too. However, you should pay attention that many seats of the Bolshoi’s Old and New Stages have limited visibility . If you want to see the Bolshoi’s Old Stage but all tickets are sold out, you can order a tour of the theatre. You can book such a tour on the official website.

If you want, following Russian tradition, to give flowers to the performers at the end of the show, in the Bolshoi flowers should be presented via special staff who collects these flowers in advance.

In August the Bolshoi is closed.

The Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre

This theatre is noteworthy. On one hand, it offers brilliant classical opera and ballet performances. On the other hand, it is an experimental venue for modern artists. The Novaya Opera

“Novaya” means “New” in Russian. This opera house was founded in 1991 by a famous conductor Eugene Kolobov. Its repertoire has several directions: Russian and Western classics, original shows and divertissements, and operas of the 20th and 21st centuries. It is very popular with Muscovites for excellent quality of performances, a comfortable hall, a beautiful Art Nouveau building and a historic park Hermitage, which is situated right next to it. Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center

The Opera Center has become one of the best theatrical venues in Moscow. It was founded in 2002 by great diva Galina Vishnevskaya. Nowadays its artistic director is Olga Rostropovich, daughter of Galina Vishnevskaya and her husband Mstislav Rostropovich, great cellist and conductor. Not only best young opera singers perform here, but also world music stars do; chamber and symphonic concerts, theatrical productions and musical festivals take place here. Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and The Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory

Moscow International Performing Arts Center (MIPAC)

This modern and elegant concert hall houses performances of national and foreign symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, solo instrumentalists, opera singers, ballet dancers, theatre companies, jazz bands, variety and traditional ensembles. Actually, it has three concert halls placed on three different levels and having separate entrances.
