Private Barcelona Shore Excursions

The port of Barcelona is the largest in Europe and the number 4 in the world (after the main ones in Florida). We are proud to receive over 2.5 million cruisers every year, and to be the departing and ending port of call for many renowned cruise-lines.

Despite only a few piers being walking distance from the city center, the other are still a short ride from most attractions, and that allows you to plan for comprehensive sightseeing Barcelona shore excursions even if you are staying only for a morning in town. And if you are lucky to be on one of the few luxury cruises that spend a night over, that will also allow you to experience the local dinner and nightlife scene.

IN THIS PAGE YOU'LL FIND

So should you book one of the shore excursions in Barcelona sold at the ship? The truth is that cruise group tours are usually crowded and their itineraries are rushed. Trust us: most Barcelona licensed guides have given tours for cruiselines at some point of their career. We know what we are talking about. And that’s why we think private shore excursions can give you a far better experience than any group tour . In a private tour gets you to cover much more ground in the same amount of time, at your own pace and with a custom design.

OUR COMMITMENT FOR ALL OUR SHORE EXCURSIONS IN BARCELONA PORT :

  • Since 2009, always back to the ship before it departs.
  • Your time is precious: your tour starts on time and finishes on time.
  • Pier pick-up and drop-off included in all our chauffeured shore excursions.
  • Skip the line access to the top Barcelona sites. Your guide goes inside with you to continue giving explanations and answering your questions.
  • Your luggage (if any) safely locked in the trunk. Driver stays always in the car while you are out and about with your tour guide.
  • Air-conditioned new luxury Mercedes cars or vans with leather seats.
  • Complimentary water bottles.
  • Flux Flex and Ultimate Flex cancellation policies .
  • Fully compliant with the latest  COVID-19 regulations .

BEST SHORE EXCURSIONS IN BARCELONA:

But if you are happy to hop on a taxi and meet your guide in town, you might want to consider a walking/taxi tour. Make sure to check out all our  Barcelona Half Day Tours  to see all the possibilities.

Even if you are staying only for a morning, if your sightseeing is well organized you can get to cover much more than you would think. We are cruise tour specialists that can help you visiting in a time-efficient, organized and safe way. Our Barcelona shore excursions are precisely designed with this goal in mind.

BARCELONA SHORE EXCURSIONS REVIEWS

Guide with guests in one of our Barcelona tours after cruise

“We were in port for only a day in Barcelona. We’d had one official cruise excursion already and it was pretty mediocre. This was light years better. We were assigned Miriam and she was fantastic – just perfect relaxed, knowledgeable, good humored, a bit wicked (we ended up buying lots of chocolate!) and our driver was absolutely lovely too.”

Tips for cruise passengers visiting barcelona.

Either you are in a short stopover in Barcelona, longer overnight cruise stay, or you are embarking or disembarking from your cruise, if it’s your first time in the city or if you have already been here before, we can help you taking the most out of your time in Barcelona.

But before starting to plan your Barcelona shore excursions, here are a few points you need to consider so you can to organize your stopover in Barcelona efficiently:

Unlike Rome, for instance, the cruise piers in Barcelona are right in the city. However, that doesn’t mean it’s easy to walk from your ship to the city sites. Although in some cases, you might. There are two main areas:

MOLL ADOSSAT This is where most cruise ships anchor, specially the large ones such as Costa, Celebrity, MSC, Viking, Norwegian, Royal Caribean and Tui Mein Schiff. To get to this pier you must cross the Porta Europa rising bridge, and while it hardly ever rises anymore (thus making you waste some precious time unexpectedly), walking accross it and then along some port streets all the way to “the real city” takes… 30 minutes under the sun, as there is no shade.

There will be taxis waiting outside of the ship, but lines can be long and we don’t want all this time to be wasted from your tour. This is why we don’t offer pier pick-up if you are booking a walking tour. Instead, chauffeured tours work great because the ride across the bridge is quickly done if you have a private driver.

MOLL DE BARCELONA (Also known as World Trade Center pier) This is where the smaller ships dock: Silver, Azamara, Seabourn, MS Berlin, Grand Circle and most Windstar. This pier is a 5 minute walk from the beginning of La Rambla, and therefore it can work to explore the city on your own although you are likely to have to take cabs to get to most places. We could meet you there to start your tour if you are booking a walking tour, but it’s still more time-efficient if you meet your guide directly in town.

Please note that while small ships usually dock here, they might be sent to Moll Adossat occasionally on days when there is a lot of sea traffic.

Do we need to know the exact pier when you make your booking? There are 4 terminals in the Moll Adossat pier (A, B, C and D) with a fifth currently under construction that is however used in days of intense traffic, and 3 terminals in Moll de Barcelona (North, South and Z), but you are not likely to know the exact pier when you book your tours. Actually, you might not be informed until the day before – but that’s not a problem.

As long as we know the  cruise name and cruise line , our guides and drivers have means to find the right pier. But we do need to know the exact name of the ship, as there might be two cruises from the same cruise line in town that day, and they’d be in different piers. So for instance, tell us that you are in the “Norwegian  Epic “, not just in the “Norwegian”, or the “Celebrity  Reflection “, not just the “Celebrity”.

CLICK HERE TO SEE A GOOGLE MAPS WITH THE LOCATION OF THE PIERS IN RELATION WITH THE TOP AREAS AND SITES

WE RECOMMEND CHAUFFEURED TOURS because:

  • Pier pick-up and drop off is included (if you book a walking tour we’ll give you a meeting point directly in town and you’ll have to get there by your own means).
  • We can also pick you up at the airport or drop you off there, if you need it.
  • Chauffeured tours are kid and handicapped friendly.
  • They are more time-efficient as they allow you to cover more areas in less time.
  • Our vans are roomy and air-conditioned (unlike most city taxis, and they have room up to 6 of you whereas most taxis only take 3 plus the guide.

STARTING TIME

Ending time.

WE CAN HELP YOU SEEING MUCH MORE THAN YOU’D DO ON YOUR OWN!

But we recommend not being overly ambitious : boarding on time should be your priority when booking. Most cruisers do well with 4 to 6 hour tours, but if your cruise is staying overnight, an 8 hour tour is also a good option. This formula will help you calculate how much time do you realistically have to do your sightseeing:

DEPARTURE TIME – DOCKING TIME – BUFFER TIME* = TIME AVAILABLE FOR TOURING

* Buffer time is minimum 1 hour 30min for chauffeured tours or 2 hours 15min for walking tours.

Barcelona is one of the most popular ports of call in Europe, and a lot of cruise lines start or end here (or both!).

ARE YOU ARRIVING (OR DEPARTING) A FEW DAYS EARLIER? If you have the possibility of arriving a day or two early or depart a day or two after the cruise is over… do it! You’ll enjoy the city much more. We can help you out with your sightseeing, too! This are our best itineraries for half day , one day and two days . We can send a driver to pick you up at the airport and take you to the hotel, and the next day we can show you around and drop you off at the pier at the end of the tour: with our chauffeured tours you don’t have to worry about carrying your luggage around – it’ll be safely locked in the car trunk and the driver will be in the car at all times.

ONLY HAVE A FEW HOURS BETWEEN LANDING AND YOUR CRUISE DEPARTURE? If you only have a few hours between your flight and your cruise departure or arrival , that’s not a problem either. We can pick you up at the airport, show you around and drop you off at the pier (or the other way around). This is our favorite half day itinerary with airport pick-up or drop-off.

ARE YOU DOCKING IN BARCELONA DURING YOUR CRUISE? Or maybe your cruise departs from Barcelona? Then you’re in for a treat!

Spain has many port cities such as Cartagena and Malaga, but Barcelona cruise port is among the busiest and most popular in Europe. And it’s easy to see why! The port can accommodate some of the largest cruise ships in the world, and it offers a wide range of services and amenities to passengers.

Located just a few miles from the city center, Barcelona cruise port offers easy access to all the sights and attractions of this exciting city. So let’s take a look at how to get around from Barcelona cruise port, the best shore excursions and the top things to do close by.

Everything you need to know about Barcelona Cruise Port in one place!

Two cruise ships docked at Barcelona cruise port at sunset.

Article overview

Barcelona Cruise Port map

Where does the cruise ship dock in barcelona, how far is barcelona cruise port from the city center, is barcelona walkable from the cruise port, 🌟 my top pick: barcelona highlights tour, 🚁 360º barcelona tour, 🍷 electric bike tapas and wine tour, private driver, shuttle buses and public transport, can i use uber in barcelona, cruise port shuttle bus, taxi and private drivers, barcelona city center, beaches in barcelona, museums and art galleries, hotel at barcelona cruise port, how far is the cruise port from las rambla, how far is barcelona cruise port from a train station, how long does it take to travel from the barcelona cruise port to the airport, what temperatures can i expect in barcelona, what is the nearest beach to barcelona cruise port, which cruise lines operate from the barcelona cruise port, is €100 a day enough in barcelona, is barcelona expensive, remember to pin for later 😉, location of barcelona cruise port.

Barcelona Cruise Port, or Port de Barcelona in Spanish, is located on the edge of Ciutat Vella, or Barcelona’s old city center. The port has nine terminals, with Terminals A, B, C and D, based at the Adossat Quay, being the most commonly used for cruise ships.

The other terminals are the World Trade Center Dock (North, South and East) and Maremagnum Dock (M) mostly used by smaller Mediterranean cruise ships.

The exact terminal where your ship will dock depends on the size of your ship and the schedule. You can confirm the terminal location with your cruise line or travel agent.

Barcelona Cruise Port is conveniently located within walking distance of many of the city’s top attractions. The distance from the port to the city center varies depending on which terminal your ship is docked at.

Moll Adossat is located around 30-40 minutes away on foot from the beginning of La Rambla. While the other terminals are about 10-15 minutes away.

Yes, Barcelona is a walkable city from the cruise port. The city center is easily accessible on foot from all of the terminals if you are in shape.

However, depending on the weather, if you are limited on time or whether you carry luggage or not, it can be better to take advantage of the port bus or private transfer.

Let’s take a closer look at all your options.

Most Popular Shore Excursions

Make the most of your time in Barcelona by booking a shore excursion departing from the cruise port. Whether you are interested in visiting famous landmarks, sampling delicious food and wine, or simply soaking up the local atmosphere, there are plenty of options available to suit every taste and budget.

This private tour is perfect for first-time visitors to Barcelona who want to see the city’s most iconic sights within a limited time. It includes a visit to the famous Sagrada Familia, the Gothic Quarter, Casa Batllo and the lively La Rambla street. You will also get to take in the stunning panoramic views of the city from Montjuic Hill.

Your English-speaking driver will be waiting for you right outside the ship, holding a sign with your name. It doesn’t get more convenient!

Worry-free Shore Excursion: Top Excursions Italy will ensure your timely return to the cruise port for this activity. In the rare event your ship has departed, they will arrange for transportation to the next port of call.

🎫 Check price and availability here >> Barcelona Half-Day Sightseeing Tour

⚠️ If you’re traveling with a larger group of people, I recommend this Barcelona Highlights Private Guided Tour instead. It is not as extensive, but a more affordable option for larger groups.

Explore Barcelona through three unique perspectives: land, sea, and air, on this super fun guided tour .

Start with a walking tour through Passeig de Gràcia where you will see some of the most emblematic buildings of Gaudí, architect of the world-famous Sagrada Familia that have been declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, such as Casa Batlló and La Pedrera up to plaça Catalunya and Gothic Quarter.

Then enjoy breathtaking views of the city from above during your helicopter flight and take a boat to enjoy the beautiful skyline, accompanied by your guide. Such a unique and fun tour, and quite affordable for everything that’s included.

You have to make your way to the meeting point at Passatge de la Concepció 8, but the tour ends right back at the Cruise Bus stop, close to the Colombus Monument.

Calling my fellow foodies! No trip to Barcelona is complete without trying the city’s delicious tapas and wine. This popular tour takes you to some of the best tapas bars in the city, where you’ll sample a variety of traditional Spanish dishes.

Enjoy typical Spanish vermouth and tapas in a truly authentic wine cellar in the Gothic Quarter. Eat and drink vibrant Spanish flavors in the same bar where Picasso, Lorca, and Dali wrote, painted and argued. Explore the squares, parks, alleyways, and beaches from a local’s perspective. So much fun!

You have to make your way to the meeting point at Plaça de Sant Agustí Vell, 16.

Transportation from the cruise port

As a major port city, Barcelona offers several transportation options to and from the cruise port. Here are the best transportation options:

If I haven’t booked a shore excursion, I love having a private driver pick me up right at the cruise port for a hassle-free transfer and to make the most of my limited time.

Not only will the driver help you with your luggage so you can jump right into the airconditioned car, but he will also know exactly where to take you and give you some advice for visiting the city.

Luxury for a very affordable price.

Is it easy to get a taxi from Barcelona cruise port?

All the terminals at Barcelona cruise port have taxi stands, but there are often long lines to catch one. And remember that there will be a surcharge for pier pick-up or drop-off. The last time I was there it came out to about about 10€.

The most affordable way to get to the Barcelona Cruise Port is by using public transportation. The city’s metro system is an affordable and efficient way to get around. You can take the metro from the Drassanes station on the green line, which is located near the port.

To get to the metro station you can take the Cruise Bus service (known as the T3 Port Bus and Blue Bus) offered by the port authority. The buses don’t follow a set timetable, departures are coordinated with the arrival and departure of the cruise ships.

The shuttle bus runs in circles from the port to the Colombus Statue in front of the World Trade Centre and costs €3 per person and €4.5 for a return ticket. From there, you have to walk about 7 minutes to reach the metro station and the beginning of La Rambla.

To continue on by bus you can catch the D20 to the beaches around Barceloneta, or the V13 that will take you to Plaça Universidad, from where you can walk to Plaça Catalunya in about 5 minutes.

The tickets for the Cruise Bus can be purchased with cash (coins or small notes) on the bus itself or online .

Barcelona public transport still operates on paper tickets valid for metro, bus, tram and train, which you can buy from vending machines at most stops.

If there are two or more of you travelling together, you can save money by purchasing a T-familiar travel card for €10 allowing 8 journeys over 30 days to be made by metro or bus in Barcelona.

Hop-On-Hop-Off Bus

Visit Barcelona at your own pace aboard a red double-decker bus , with two different routes available. Hop on and hop off as many times as you wish through the day with a single ticket.

🎫 Check price and availability here >> Barcelona 24 or 48-Hour Hop-On Hop-Off Bus

Uber is not currently available in Barcelona, but the city has several other ride-hailing services, such as Cabify and Free Now. These services are similar to Uber and offer a convenient way to get around using the city’s regulated taxis.

Barcelona Airport To Cruise Port

For those of you who are starting your cruise in Barcelona, you’ll have a few options to get from El Prat Airport to Barcelona cruise port or vice versa. The total distance is 17 km and should take around 25 minutes by car.

You can book a shuttle from Barcelona airport to the cruise port with Moventis Experience. There are no set times or vehicles, it all depends on when you arrive and how many passengers have booked the shuttle.

If you’re landing at   Terminal 1, after collecting your luggage you should make your way to the Tourism Office   located on the right side of the arrival point. There, someone from the Moventis crew will be waiting for you to finish the check-in process. Loom for someone in a bright orange uniform.

Landing Terminal 2:

If you land at Terminal 2, go to the Tourism Office   and you will find a From2 agent waiting for you, who will provide you with the necessary information to reach your destination.

The fastest way to get to the Barcelona cruise port by public transport is the super-convenient Aerobus , which departs every 5 minutes from both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. A one-way ticket costs only €6.75 and you’ll have WiFi onboard if you need to do some last-minute research.

The bus takes you to Plaça Catalunya where you can take the metro two stops to Drassanes or you can hail a taxi and get to the port for about €10.

If you prefer not to wait for a shuttle or bus you have the option of going by taxi or private driver.

Nearby attractions

As one of the busiest cities in Europe, it’s important to book all your Barcelona tickets in advance. Some attractions have even stopped selling tickets on the ground, and require to be pre-booked.

If you visit during the warmer months and are limited on time, get skip-the-line tickets or you will spend most of your time waiting in line.

Barcelona City Center is easy to visit from Barcelona Cruise Port . As mentioned above, it is located just a few miles away from the port and offers a wide range of things to do. So whether you have 24 hours in Barcelona or just a few, these are the attractions you must see:

La Rambla

La Rambla is a lively pedestrian street that stretches for 1.2 kilometers, from Plaça de Catalunya to the Christopher Columbus Monument at Port Vell. It is lined with trees, flower stalls, street performers, and outdoor cafes, making it a vibrant and exciting place to explore.

Along La Rambla, you will find many interesting sights and attractions. One of the most popular is the Boqueria Market, a colorful and bustling market that sells fresh produce, seafood, meats, and other local delicacies. It is a great place to sample some of the city’s famous cuisine and immerse yourself in the local culture.

🥘 If you’re a lover of Spanish food (who isn’t, right), I highly recommend this paella class overlooking Las Rambla & Boqueria Market. You will shop for fresh produce at the market and also learn how to make Spanish tortillas, gazpacho and tomato bread.

Sagrada Familia

The Sagrada Familia is a stunning basilica located in the Eixample district of Barcelona. It was designed by the famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi and is known for its unique and intricate design.

Despite being under construction for over 100 years, the Sagrada Familia remains one of the most popular tourist attractions in Barcelona, drawing millions of visitors each year. It’s a must on any Spain bucket list .

As the most famous landmark in Barcelona, Sagrada Familia draws quite a crowd. So I highly recommend you book your tickets in advance.

You can visit the Sagrada Familia with an expert guide, skip-the-ticket-line access and choose between a small-group or private experience.

Gothic Quarter

The Gothic Quarter is one of the most historic and charming neighborhoods in Barcelona. It is located in the heart of the city’s old town and is known for its many charming streets and alleys, such as the Carrer del Bisbe, a narrow street that is famous for its beautiful archway, and the Plaça Sant Jaume, a historic square that is home to the City Hall and the Palace of the Generalitat.

One of the most famous landmarks is the Barcelona Cathedral, a stunning Gothic cathedral that dates back to the 13th century. The cathedral is known for its beautiful stained glass windows, intricate carvings, and impressive bell tower.

Another popular attraction in the Gothic Quarter is the Plaça del Rei, a beautiful square that was once the site of the royal palace of the Catalan kings. Going for a stroll through the Gothic Quarter is one of the best things to do in Barcelona at night .

Parc Guell is a beautiful park located in the Gracia district of Barcelona and is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions. The park was designed by the famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi and is known for its stunning architecture, colorful mosaics, and beautiful views of the city.

One of the most famous landmarks in Parc Guell is the Dragon Stairway, a colorful staircase that leads up to the park’s main terrace. The staircase is decorated with a mosaic of colorful tiles and is guarded by a large dragon statue, which has become one of the most iconic symbols of the park.

🌟 Remember that all the Barcelona highlights I mention above are included in this Private Barcelona Highlights Shore Excursion .

Sagrat Cor Church

If you have the time I highly recommend you also see Sagrat Cor Church, a stunning basilica located on the top of Mount Tibidabo in Barcelona. It was designed by the Spanish architect Enric Sagnier and was completed in 1961.

The church is known for its beautiful Neo-Gothic style architecture and its impressive location, which offers stunning views of the city and the surrounding mountains.

One of the biggest draws of Barcelona is its stunning beaches. The city has several beaches that are easily accessible from the cruise port, including:

  • Barceloneta Beach:  The most popular beach in the city, Barceloneta is known for its lively atmosphere and wide range of activities.
  • Nova Icaria Beach:  A quieter beach that is popular with families and offers a variety of water sports.
  • Bogatell Beach:  A long, wide beach that is popular with locals and offers plenty of space to relax and soak up the sun.

Barcelona is home to a wealth of museums and art galleries, many of which are located in or near the city center. Some of the top museums and galleries to visit include:

  • Picasso Museum:  A museum dedicated to the life and work of Pablo Picasso, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.
  • Museum of Contemporary Art:  A museum that showcases contemporary art from around the world.
  • National Art Museum of Catalonia:  A museum that houses a collection of Romanesque art and Catalan modernism.

So as you can see, there is no shortage of things to see and do near the Barcelona cruise port. Whether you’re interested in history, art, or simply soaking up the sun on the beach, there is something for everyone in this vibrant city.

The only hotel at the Barcelona cruise port is the  Eurostars Grand Marina Hotel GL in the World Trade Center, a very good 5-star hotel.

The hotel offers 291 spacious and stylish rooms and suites, all of which are equipped with modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs, minibars, and free Wi-Fi. Many of the rooms also offer stunning views of the port and the city skyline.

One of the highlights of the Eurostars Grand Marina Hotel GL is its rooftop terrace, which offers breathtaking views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea. The terrace is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a busy day of sightseeing and features a swimming pool, a bar, and plenty of comfortable loungers and seating areas.

The hotel also offers a range of other amenities and services, including a fitness center, a sauna, a restaurant, and a bar. The hotel’s restaurant, the Aire de Mar, serves delicious Mediterranean cuisine in a stylish and elegant setting.

Barcelona Shore Excursion

We were cruising on the NCL Epic, and found the shore excursion offered by the ship too limited. Hence we contacted Pavel, of Barcelona Secrets, via tripadvisor.com, reading previous reviews. We received a quick reply from Pavel, and he answered all our queries and gave suggestions for a half day tour of Barcelona. We planned the day based on his feedback. Pavel, was at the Barcelona cruise port on time with a private taxi to tour the city. He had purchased tickets for Park Guell, and Sagrada Familia, in advance. He planned it well so we were able to see both places in detail, without wasting any time in lines. He gave us a very good background of all the places we visited, including the Cala Mila, Las Ramblas, and the Gothic Quarter. He was with us, making the tour interesting and informative. He also suggested an excellent spot for some hot chocolate and lunch. Overall we were extremely happy tour the city with Barcelona Secrets, and Pavel. We would surely contact Pavel if we return to that area, and strongly recommend him to anyone who wanted to tour the Catalonia.

This private tour (small group of 5) was incredible - pick up & drop off @ hotel, transport to vineyard with information on Barcelona and the Penedes region, facility and museum tour and very in-depth, varied product tasting. Pavel is incredibly knowledgeable and truly passionate about the cava and wine from the Penedes region as well as Barcelona and surrounding areas. We visited a family owned vineyard, were able to see every step of the process and then tasted with the owner - what an amazing day! A MUST DO if in Barcelona...thanks so much Pavel!

We only had 7 hours for our port stop in Barcelona early May. Group of 6, we had lots of fun with Pavel, our guide who was professional and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend him. Quite a comprehensive day. Saw a lot in such a short time. We wanted to visit Camp Nou (home of FC Barcelona, winner of 2015 La Liga and Champions league. Was nostalgic being in their stadium, largest in Europe and to see club's history over the years in their museum. Plan in the works to re-build and enlarge seating capacity. We pre-bought tickets on-line and did audio tour. Took about 2 hours. Had to choose between Antonio Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia and Parc Gruell as time only permitted us to do one. We chose the Basilica. Pre-bought tickets on-line for audio tour with guide. Tickets are time-banded. We were fortunate to get time-slot access of 14:45-15:00. Tour lasted 2-2 1/2 hrs. Perfect time as sunlight streaming through coloured glass panels gave a brilliant glow to the unique structure. Construction is on-going and is funded by public donations, nothing from government or private enterprise. Aim for completion is 2026. Left the rest of the itinerary to Pavel He did an amazing job. Since we had a separate driver we were able to walk about at times and be met at appointed stops. Some of the stops - outside of other Gaudi's work, La Pedrera, Casa Battlo, quick glimpse of Parc Gruell. Also took us up to Tibidabo Hill, great view overlooking the city. Took us to a tapas bar where we enjoyed a delicious lunch with beer at a reasonable cost. Being it was Sunday not too many places were open. All good things must come to an end. Back to port on time, safe and sound. Thank you Pavel for an amazing journey in your beautiful city.

Pavel is very knowledgeable, culture, history, food, wine and art and architecture (Gaudi Plus) Best experience is you like to walk.

I don't have to words to describe how much my family enjoyed the tour of Barcelona with the company Barcelona Secrets. If I had to describe it in one word it would be "OMG absolutely amazing" okay maybe more than one word. My family and I did a cruise with a one day stop in Spain , after alot of researched we decided to give Barcelona secret a try and I am so happy we did . First the price was extremely reasonable, Pavel was very patient answering all my questions. We gave him a diificult task , we wanted to tour inside Camp Nou , the sagrida family , lunch , see all the wonders of spain all within 7 to 8 hours . I was amazed how Pavel kept us on time and how much we were able to see. He even made reservations for us in an authetic spanish resturant where the food was amazing , the line up long but we were escorted right in , not waiting in line . Pavel raised the bar so high with his amazing tour skills that my family kept comparing him to all our other guides in the other countries we stopped at. Pavel thank you for a wonderful day , I cannot say enough how great it was. I totally recomend Pavel and his company to anyone doing a tour in spain .

We were group of 9 people travelling to Barcelona for our corporate vacation; while planning our tour we decided to take an opportunity and to go from Barcelona to Figueres in order to see the Dali Museum and the beautiful views of Costa Brava. So we searched through the internet to find the tour operator and among many other similar companies finally stopped our choice on Barcelona Secrets, which turned out to be the most reasonable (from the point of view of the prices), most communicative and responsive. Pavel, who was our main contact person throughout the preparation of the tour, was very patient and answered by phone and by email all our numerous questions related to every single detail. He was very helpful also in planning the route ad suggesting us the best options considering the season, the weather, our personal preferences and so on. It was really nice preparatory phase and we definitely consider it important for gaining the confidence that our expectations will be really met. We departed from Barcelona to Figueres exactly as it was agreed, early in the morning. When we came down to the hotel lobby, our guide Andrey was already waiting for us and the minibus was parked in few meters from our hotel at Plaza Catalunya. Our guide was the best -- knowledgeable, intelligent, comfortable to communicate with, very good story teller with good sense of humor. We've learnt a lot of interesting details about Salvador Dali and his life already on our way to Figueres. With Andrey's captivating stories we hardly even noticed the almost two-hour way to Figueres. And when we arrived he provided an excellent guidance throughout the Museum, which was so important considering that Dali museum was made according to Dali's own concept and approach so the standard museum procedures and logic do not apply there. After two or three hours in Museum we were transferred to small and picturesque town of Cadaques, where we had a great lunch in one of the sea-cost restaurants with a great choice of fish, seafood and other meals of Spanish cuisine. Again, Andrey was our first-hand consultant in everything -- explaining the meals, telling us all the details, answering all our endless questions. Even the rainy weather could not spoil our good time there. :) On our way from Cadaques to Barcelona Andrey continued the conversation with us and we've learnt still a lot of things specifically about Barcelona and Catalunya and about Spain in general. We have to note also that Andrey recommended us the perfect place to experience the real, real Spanish flamenco, which was our one more amazing last-day adventure in night Barcelona. Andrey really did a great job -- he literally worked in a non-stop mode for the whole duration of our tour. All in all, we think that this tour was so much more than simple Dali's experience -- and without it our perception of the whole thing (meaning the Barcelona and Catalunya as whole and people living there) would be so much more shallow. We are thankful to Barcelona Secrets for their excellent guidance and we would 100% recommend this company and their services to anyone.

Milena, thank you very much for your review. I'm really happy that you and your company enjoyed the tour of Cadaques and Figueres with Andrey. Hope you'll come back to Catalonia one day to discover the other beautiful places we have here.

When you're not taking in the Gothic architecture, you can enjoy local wines and foods.

There's also the port of Ibiza nearby, a paradise for people who love wildlife. Whether you want to walk the rocky coastline, climb the towering hills to find the olive trees, or lie on a beautiful, tranquil beach, you'll find what you're looking for in Ibiza. If you want to view cutting-edge art exhibits, there's the Museum of Contemporary Art in the Dalt Vila district.

See Differents Parts of Italy

Italy is on many people's must-see list, and Norwegian provides several options to help you achieve that dream. There's the port of Rome (Civitavecchia) , with the Colosseum and ruins of Pompeii, and the port of Florence/Pisa (Livorno) , with its recognizable cathedral and leaning tower. Few can ignore the majesty of Venice (Trieste) , which rests carefully between a grid of canals you can float through on a gondola.

If a coastal getaway is more what you're after, you'll love our cruises that stop in Naples . Here, you can bask in the whimsy of colorful, stacked houses that pepper the coast and hear the whispers of the past as you explore ancient castles and cathedrals. There's also the port of Messina (Sicily) , which is the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat and a glass of local Marsala wine. You can even shop for designer clothes and handmade leather souvenirs.

See France: Cannes, Provence & Nice

Home to the famous Cannes Film Festival, Cannes , France, is a port you can visit on several of our Mediterranean cruise vacations. You'll feel like you're in a movie as you ride along the coast and stop at glamorous cities such as Monte Carlo and Monaco. You can even book a limousine ride for some added luxury and flair.

You can also visit the port of Provence (Marseille) , the oldest city in France. Here, you'll see buildings built as early as 600 B.C. and won't be able to miss the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde. If you're hoping to secure designer French clothing on your trip, this is the place to do it.

If you miss visiting Monaco when stopped at Cannes, you'll get another chance at the port of Nice/Monaco (Villefranche) . Nestled at the bottom of the Alps, this gorgeous city has everything you could ask for in a luxury destination. Relax and swim at stunning beaches, chat in cozy cafes, or hire boats that can take you out for a breathtaking view of the coast from the water.

Croatia: Visit Dubrovnik & Split

Norwegian also stops at various ports of call in Croatia, a country known for its spectacular coast and far-reaching history. At the port of Dubrovnik , you'll feel the hospitality and warmth radiating from the city as soon as you disembark. Its marble pathways and eye-catching architecture are just some of the amazing sights you'll find there, all viewable from a thrilling but relaxing cable car ride. You can even stop for a wine tasting or take a private tour of the city with a professional guide.

Croatia is also home to the port of Split , where you'll get to explore what's left of Diocletian's Palace, built in 295 A.D. There are countless other beautiful sights in the city as well, such as luxurious marble streets, a towering cathedral, and a quaint harbor filled with cafes and shops.

Barcelona, Spain

Cruises from Barcelona depart year-round. With mountains to the west and the sparkling Mediterranean Sea to the east, Barcelona possesses panoramic beauty. Among the most-visited sites in the Catalonia region's capital are structures designed by Antoni Gaudi, including the colorful Casa Batllo, whimsical Park Guell and Barcelona's most iconic building, the Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family, known locally as the Sagrada Familia. Walking tours are popular here, with plenty to admire in the Gothic Quarter and on La Rambla, a bustling pedestrian street lined with stalls and trees. Foodies find themselves on tours of tapas restaurants or exploring the sprawling Mercat de la Boqueria, a covered market with roots in the 13th century. For soccer fans, an excursion to Camp Nou, the home stadium for FC Barcelona, proves an exciting pilgrimage.

NCL Barcelona shore excursions on NCL website?

Cool Cruiser

Is anyone able to view NCL Barcelona shore excursions on the NCL website? Assumed they were just slow making them available in online access (cruising in May 2018, embarking in Rome). However, they haven't been available at all under the general access shore excursions pages or as a downloadable port PDF list now for some time now either. NCL haven't responded to a question about their visibility. Is something amiss here? Seems odd.

Probably renegotiating or changing shore ex vendors. NCL does not “run” any shore excursions. They contract with local tour providers. If providers are unreliable, poor quality, too expensive, or can not support the volume of tours of a mega ship, they are replaced.

Ah a possibility. Has anyone seen this happen before so close (if 4 months is close) to a cruise date?

Interesting that they would pull the plug on them all at once. I would imagine they would have a mixture of vendors for different types of tours. Perhaps not in Barcelona being a large and established market.

Barcelona is slightly different than most ports. Mostly, it is used as embarkation and disembarkation, so NCL's main requirement from local companies is shuttles from the airports, and the tours that they offer disembarking passengers, which are often fairly limited.

Amongst their regular itineraries, yours is (I believe) the only one where Barcelona is a normal port of call, and only a relatively small proportion of the passengers are on that particular itinerary. I suspect that the numbers of people taking standard excursions in Barcelona are fairly low compared to other ports.

I don't know whether that has any impact on what is happening.

I just checked my reservation (we are on a round trip from Barcelona in just over two months time) and there are no disembarkation tours being offered at the moment, so it does look like there is some sort of problem.

Thanks for the info Keith. Helpful to know.

Yes quite right about the majority embarking in Barcelona. Have been on this itinerary before in 2013, also embarking from Rome. We definitely had tours available for Barcelona. I ended up however engaging a private driver to do Barcelona and Montserrat as NCL didn't offer it. This time around when looking at the general port shore ex page I noted that they now offered this tour. But then no port page at all for some time. Will just keep watch/book something with another operator. Cheers.

I am on the Spirit out of Barcelona in two weeks (1/24/18) there are still no excursions of any kind in Barcelona presented as of yet. No transfer excursions, nothing. I called NCL and she said they are being re-negotiated and most likely be unavailable until boarding. I have the $50 credit...so I will have no scheduled method of transfer when I board. Not too happy about that, she said she was sure something will be available after boarding... so I hope they have enough spots....

Oh that’s not fun. Definitely hope they sort that out for you. So that definitely clears that up. I have the shore ex OBC too.

I have more time before my cruise, but I've started to regret choosing the shore ex credit. It's not just Barcelona: at Cannes I want to do something that no shore tour (NCL or other) offers and will probably arrange it myself, with Uber or a rental car, and my cruise will be at Naples on May 1, when the Pompeii and Herculaneum excavations will be closed. I'd like at least to know what will be substituted.
