Dispatch and O.A.R. are Hitting the Road Together in 2022

by Anna D'Amico December 1, 2021, 10:00 am

Two legendary rock groups, Dispatch , and O.A.R. will finally be sharing a stage in the summer of 2022. Today, the bands announced their tour will kick off on July 15 and include 37 dates throughout the U.S. The two bands will also be joined by special guests Robert Randolph Band and G. Love on select dates.

Videos by American Songwriter

Both Dispatch and O.A.R. got their starts in the mid-1990s as heartland and indie rock groups, frequently appearing at similar events and even getting mistaken for each other, making this collaboration, 25 years later, inevitable.

“For the first three or four years of our career, we’d often see each other kind of weaving in and out of each other’s storylines. Then we didn’t see each other for a long time but there was always this idea that we eventually would get together,” Chadwick Stokes, co-founder of Dispatch, tells American Songwriter. “I think it was just a matter of everyone figuring out how their own individual lives fit with the band, and so the planets just kind of aligned.”

However, the planets didn’t align perfectly. This long-awaited collaboration was originally planned for the summer of 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic sent the world home before it could be announced. Now the bands are not only eager to play together, but they’re also eager to be back in front of audiences.

“I think releasing the news now is more exciting than it would have been a couple of years ago just because there’s this collective exhale. We’re finally going back outdoors, we’re finally going into a big healthy tour after waiting for three years,” says Brad Corrigan, the other founder of Dispatch. “I think you start to appreciate the gift of music in such a profound way when you can’t do it. Like anything in life, as soon as you don’t have that freedom it gives you a totally different take on what it will be like to get back out there.”

O.A.R’s lead vocalist, Marc Roberge, chimes in about the return to live music feels like getting back to an identity that had been missing.

“Growing up, you didn’t want to be famous; you wanted to be a dues-paid touring musician who played shows and live music and had that connection, and we got that. And then, for two years, you take on a different identity as an artist at home creating things,” says Roberge. “For us to all get back to what our identity is as a traveling musician is hard to even put into words, so I’m excited for all of it.”

Members of both bands have earned the title of touring musicians, as their live performance achievements are no small feat. Dispatch broke molds as an independent group, selling out three nights at Madison Square Garden and amassing a crowd of over 100,000 at an outdoor concert in Boston with no major label backing. O.A.R. has also sold out Madison Square Garden multiple times and performed during Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve from Times Square in 2014. The goal for this tour, according to O.A.R. drummer Chris Culos, is to reconnect with the fans and make every show special,

“We’re trying to provide the best experience possible and our goal is for people to feel like they were part of that experience. We basically want people to go home with a smile on their face even bigger than when they got there,” said Culos. “If you’re thinking of wanting to go to this concert with your best friends or a perfect date or something like that, this is that perfect summer night concert.”

Pre-sale tickets for the tour will be live at noon local time on December 6, with public on-sale starting December 10 at noon local time. For tickets or more information, click here .

Dispatch and O.A.R. Announce Summer 2022 Co-Headlining Tour

Dispatch and O.A.R. have announced they’ll be hitting the road together for their first-ever North American co-headlining tour. The two groups kick off their historic tour on July 15 of 2022 and will be joined by special guests Robert Randolph Band and G. Love on select dates.

Though the two bands have previously played on the same bill, they have never shared a tour before, though not for lack of desire. “Dispatch has always been a name on our white-board wish-list for bands we wanted to tour with,” said O.A.R.’s sax player Jerry DePizzo in a press release. “It’s almost as if we’ve existed in parallel universes. We both came up through the ranks and cut our teeth playing colleges and small clubs throughout the Northeast and Midwest. It’s taken a few years, but the stars have finally aligned. We’re looking forward to this because we feel both audiences will be excited as well. We should have done this a long time ago.”

The excursion starts in Mesa, Ariz. and will traverse its way throughout the United States until the middle of September, making 37 stops in cities like Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver, Atlanta, Cleveland, Nashville, Boston, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Austin, Virginia Beach and more.

“There are some beautiful anchors and moonshots in place in order to celebrate not only the history of where O.A.R. and Dispatch have been but where we’re going,” Added Dispatch’s Brad Corrigan in the press release. “We’re grateful to still have our family of fans, health, friendships and a chance to continue making music. Gonna be good.”

An artist pre-sale will begin on Monday, Dec. 6 at noon local time – use the code SUMMER22.

dis

Dispatch  and  O.A.R.  are teaming up for their first-ever co-headlining tour in 2022. The joint run will take the lauded roots-rock outfits across North America, with  Robert Randolph Band and  G. Love set to provide support at select dates.

O.A.R. and Dispatch will kick off the 37-date trek in Mesa, AZ on July 15th and weave through Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver, Atlanta, Cleveland, Nashville, Boston, Chicago, New York, Philly, Austin, Virginia Beach, and more before wrapping up in Irving, TX on September 9th.

While the bands have shared bills in the past, this tour will mark the first time the two have mounted a tour together. “Dispatch has always been a name on our white-board wish-list for bands we wanted to tour with,” said O.A.R. saxophonist Jerry DePizzo in a press statement.

Dispatch, formed by Chadwick Stokes and Brad Corrigan while in college in Vermont, emerged as as one of the most successful acts in the early-2000s roots rock scene. Over the course of several acclaimed studio and live albums and countless tours and festivals, the band has gone on to become a pre-eminent independent music success story, selling out shows at Madison Square Garden and drawing over 100,000 fans to an outdoor show in their adopted hometown of Boston without any traditional radio or major label support. The band recently released its 8th studio album, Break Our Fall .

O.A.R., the platinum-certified Rockville, MD outfit, has sold out Madison Square Garden multiple times, filled Red Rocks Amphitheater on many occasions, earned platinum and gold plaques across 11-full-length albums, lit up the Times Square’s New Year’s Eve celebration, and built one of the most committed fanbases in the world. The group—comprised of Marc Roberge (lead vocals, guitar), Richard On (lead guitar), Chris Culos (drums), Benj Gershman (bass), and Jerry DePizzo (saxophone, guitar)—formed while the members were still in high school 25 years ago.

“I’m certainly looking forward to this experience,” says DePizzo. “There are some beautiful anchors and moonshots in place in order to celebrate not only the history of where O.A.R. and Dispatch have been, but where we’re going.”

Added Dispatch’s Brad Corrigan, “We’re grateful to still have our family of fans, health, friendships and a chance to continue making music. Gonna be good.”

DISPATCH and O.A.R. have announced a summer tour pre-party, hosted by Jason Biggs and presented by Capital One, that will stream live from Relix Studio in New York City on Wednesday, May 18 at 5pm ET. Fans can subscribe to the Relix Magazine Channel on twitch to watch the full event for free. PRESS HERE for more information.   DISPATCH and O.A.R. are two of the most successful touring acts in the states, and they’ll hit the road together this summer for their first-ever North American Co-Headline Tour, which is scheduled to kick off on July 15, 2022. The two bands will be joined by special guest G. Love on all dates, and the excursion starts in Mesa, AZ and weaves its way throughout the US until mid-September, making 37 stops in Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver, Atlanta, Cleveland, Nashville, Boston, Chicago, New York, Philly, Austin, Virginia Beach and more (full routing below). For tickets and more details, please visit www.dispatch-oar.com .   While the bands have previously played on the same bill, this tour will mark the first time the two have shared a tour together. “DISPATCH has always been a name on our white-board wish-list for bands we wanted to tour with,” said O.A.R.’s sax player Jerry DePizzo. We should have done this a long time ago.”   DISPATCH – formed by Chadwick Stokes and Brad Corrigan while in college in Vermont – have forged their own path outside the mainstream music industry as one of the most successful artists in the roots rock scene. Over the course of a slew of acclaimed studio and live albums and countless tours and festivals, the band has gone on to become one of biggest success stories in independent music history, selling out three nights at Madison Square Garden and drawing over 100,000 fans to a massive outdoor show in their adopted hometown of Boston without any traditional radio or major label support. The band recently released their extraordinary 8th studio album, Break Our Fall, to critical acclaim, and just last week they dropped a timely acoustic re-recording of one of their most beloved singles, “The General,” in Russian to show their support of Ukraine. Rolling Stone broke the news, and New York Times, NPR, Esquire, American Songwriter and more quickly followed.   O.A.R. is one of music’s most consistent & dependable rites of passage for rock fans across the country. The platinum-certified Rockville, MD band has sold out Madison Square Garden multiple times, filled Red Rocks Amphitheater on countless nights, earned platinum and gold plaques across 11-full-length albums, lit up the Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration, and built one of the most committed fanbases in the world. The group – Marc Roberge [lead vocals, guitar], Richard On [lead guitar], Chris Culos [drums], Benj Gershman [bass], and Jerry DePizzo [saxophone, guitar] – formed while still in high school and this year they will ring in 25 years together by strengthening their special bond with audiences everywhere.   “I’m certainly looking forward to this experience,” says DePizzo. “There are some beautiful anchors and moonshots in place in order to celebrate not only the history of where O.A.R. and DISPATCH have been, but where we’re going.” Added DISPATCH’s Brad Corrigan, “We’re grateful to still have our family of fans, health, friendships and a chance to continue making music. Gonna be good.”   Throughout their rise, both bands have taken every opportunity to use their success for good, launching charitable organizations to fight poverty and mass incarceration, raising funds and awareness for environmental causes, schools and hospitals on the road, and even traveling as far afield as Nicaragua and Zimbabwe to work with children and communities in need. Moscow: City Sightseeing by Car/Bus

Visiting a new city is akin to going on a first date, it is something you will never forget. Many people imagine Moscow as just a bunch of sporadic landmarks: Red Square, the Kremlin, Lenin’s Mausoleum and GUM. There is so much more to this wonderful city than that and even though we only have a few hours, we will do all we can to show you everything we know and love about our capital in one fell swoop. We will take you on a journey through the ages, from centuries ago, right up to the modern day, soaking in the sights of this vast and bustling metropolis. Bright, luxurious and both ancient and modern at the same time, Moscow invites you on a date you’ll never forget!

On our sightseeing bus tour of the city, you will see:

  • The wonderfully historic city centre and its unique museums, magnificent cathedrals, the exquisite Chambers of the Romanov Boyars and of course, the famous towering red brick walls of the Kremlin, The charming beauty of the Alexander Garden awaits the capital's guests - a lush green oasis in the midst of the glass and concrete clad metropolis, basking in the etherial aura emanating from the whitewashed stone walls of the restored Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, the world- renowned fairytale onion domes of St. Basil's Cathedral and other impressive monumental buildings such as the library built in Lenin's honour - the Russian State Library - and the State Duma.
  • The Lubyanka KGB headquarters is notorious to members of older generations and although nowadays, the face of the secret police has changed dramatically, the looming enigmatic building on the waterfront maintains its aura of mystery, shrouded in a variety of murky rumours and dark myths. Then, there’s another of Moscow's main attractions - the marvellous Bolshoi Theatre, yew simply cant leave Moscow without taking in its breathtaking architecture. Engrained in the fabric of Russia's cultural heritage, virtuoso performers such as prima ballerina Galina Ulanova, opera singer Feodor Chaliapin and pianist, composer and conductor Sergei Rachmaninoff once stood centre stage of this vaunted institution.
  • The memorial complex on Poklonnaya Hill was constructed in the glory and honour of our heroes who defended our nation in the many crucial battles of the Great Patriotic War (WWII). This is a place that embodies a particularly acute and inextricable link between older ancf younger generations. Moving on to the Moscow International Business Centre, not dubbed ‘Moscow City' for nothing, a true glimpse of the future in the present. This incredible, rather jaw-dropping project in the capital has shown that Moscow has come to accept the age of the skyscraper. Finally, the stunning views from the observation deck at Sparrow Hills will leave professional and amateur photographers alike itching to capture them. How could one resist?

The most beautiful of all the world's cities - lady Moscow invites you out on a date!

Customer

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Moscow, a City Like No Other

Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.

Moscow Kremlin in the times of Ivan III

Moscow Tours centering on Russian History

Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.

Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers

What is the best time to visit moscow.

Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide

How many days are enough in Moscow?

If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you. While the bands have previously played on the same bill, this tour will mark the first time the two have shared a tour together. “Dispatch has always been a name on our white-board wish-list for bands we wanted to tour with,” said O.A.R.’s sax player Jerry DePizzo.

Dispatch – formed by Chadwick Stokes and Brad Corrigan while in college in Vermont – have forged their own path outside the mainstream music industry as one of the most successful artists in the roots rock scene. The band recently released their extraordinary eighth studio album, Break Our Fall , to critical acclaim.

O.A.R. is one of music’s most consistent & dependable rites of passage for rock fans across the country.

Gonna be good.”

Throughout their rise, both bands have taken every opportunity to use their success for good, launching charitable organizations to fight poverty and mass incarceration, raising funds and awareness for environmental causes, schools and hospitals on the road, and even traveling as far afield as Nicaragua and Zimbabwe to work with children and communities in need. O.A.R.’s Heard the World Foundation raises money to create education-based opportunities, including music therapy programs in hospitals, scholarships, donating computers to schools and even providing an infrastructure in Flint, MI, to help with the ongoing water crisis. Dispatch’s Chadwick Stokes’ Calling All Crows joins bands and fans together in collective activism that has raised more than half a million dollars, while Dispatch’s Brad Corrigan’s Love Light + Melody helps amplify the stories of children who live in extreme poverty.
