Having first launched their universally acclaimed Rhapsody Tour with 25 epic shows across North America in 2019, Queen + Adam Lambert are bringing their highly acclaimed production, now expanded and updated, back to where it first began. After a 4-year long hiatus, Sir Brian May, Roger Taylor and their exceptional frontman Adam Lambert have announced they will set out on a spectacular North America run this fall. Produced by Live Nation, the tour kicks off on October 4 at Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena making stops in Toronto, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Denver and more before concluding at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. See full routing below.

Brian May says, “Our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever. So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious. Watch out world.”

And Adam Lambert says: “I can’t wait to tour North America one more time with the Rhapsody tour alongside the two unbelievably talented legends that are Brian May and Roger Taylor.”

Queen + Adam Lambert’s 150-minute career-spanning set list celebrates the band’s extraordinary back catalogue, lining up wall-to-wall immortal anthems like “We Will Rock You”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “Radio Ga Ga”, and “Somebody To Love” alongside classic deep cuts and vintage fan favourites. Featuring a dazzling state-of-the-art stage design, incredible special effects and set pieces, this sense-swamping extravaganza has been blowing critics and fans away the world over.

As with last year’s UK and European dates, the 2023 North American tour will see Queen + Adam Lambert supported on stage by their regular band members, long-serving Queen keyboard player and musical director Spike Edney, bass guitarist Neil Fairclough and percussionist Tyler Warren.

Having extensively toured over the last few years, the Rhapsody show is forever evolving. But it remains at heart a tribute to Freddie Mercury’s majestic legacy, a confirmation of Brian and Roger’s undimmed musical prowess, plus a magnificent showcase for Adam’s vocal skills and electrifying stage charisma, all of which adds up to a glorious full-blooded celebration of one of the greatest songbooks in rock history. Read more on the story of The Rhapsody Tour so far, including the special performance opening the Platinum Jubilee concert with the late Queen herself tea cup tapping to the beat of “We Will Rock You” HERE .

TICKETS: Tickets will be available via a general onsale beginning Friday, March 31st at 10AM local time at LiveNation.com .

MORE ON TICKETS:

Queen + Adam Lambert appreciate that it is an enormous task to try and stop scalpers from taking advantage of fans wanting to purchase tickets for the tour. In an effort to help minimize resale and keep ticket prices at face value for fans, the band are collaborating with the venues’ ticketing partners to restrict the ability to transfer tickets for The Rhapsody Tour so that they may only be transferred between fans at the original price.

Fans will still have protection against unforeseen circumstances. Those who purchase tickets and are no longer able to attend their show will be able to sell their tickets at the price they paid using a face value ticket exchange, including the Ticketmaster Face Value Exchange – which is free to use for buyers and sellers. More information on how the Ticketmaster Exchange works is available here .

Unfortunately, the states of NY, IL, and CO have laws in place which protect ticket scalpers – these laws prohibit artists from being able to restrict the transfer of their tickets to face value exchanges only. For shows in these states, Queen + Adam Lambert strongly encourage fans to only buy or sell tickets to one another on face value exchanges. More information can be found here , with more details to follow in the coming weeks.

Adam Lambert is a singer, songwriter and actor hailing from Indianapolis, Indiana, US who was born on the 29th of January 1982. His career truly began after coming second in the 2009 season of American Idol, since then he’s released two hit solo albums and is currently fronting Queen.

Adam Lambert could serve as a justification for every single music reality show we’ve had to endure for the past decade and a half or so. He’s a man talented enough to be a success any way he so pleased, he’s just chose to make it happen through the medium of American Idol, and fair play to him. Especially when being on that show means that he can be the first ever openly gay solo artist to top the Billboard 200, if that’s not an undeniable good move and sign of genuine cultural progress, I don’t know what is.

Lambert was born in Indianapolis, however his family moved to San Diego, California soon after he was born. He was a musical child from the get go, getting involved with local theatre productions and performing with the Metropolitan Educational Theatre network. His teenage years were spent pretty much entirely around theatres and performing arts companies, even during his high school years he took part in choirs and the jazz band among many others. By 19 he had his first professional performing job as a cruise ship singer and by 21, he was cast in a European tour of the hit rock musical Hair.

From 2001 until 2008 Lambert cut his teeth performing any which way he could. That period of time saw him fronting bands and working as a session singer while still performing on stage any way that he could. He saw some success at it as well, in 2004 he was performing opposite Val Kilmer in a production of The Ten Commandments: The Musical, and he was understudying in major productions like one for Wicked in 2005. However come 2009 he would become something very special indeed.

While spending a week at the Burning Man festival in Black Rock Desert, Nevada, Lambert had what he described as “a psychedelic experience” where he realized that he had the power to do whatever he wanted with his life, and with that freedom in mind, he auditioned for American Idol. Lambert was an utter sensation on the show, captivating everyone with every single performance that he made and was pretty much robbed of the top spot by some vanishing act called Kris Allen. However, the general consensus was that Lambert was going to be an enormous deal outside of Idol, and that was exactly what happened.

Since then, Lambert has continued to be a sensation in everything he’s done. His two solo albums headed straight into the top three and his second album was the first ever number one album on the Billboard 200 by an openly gay man. The world of rock has also fallen to Lambert’s charms as well, with his shows fronting Queen selling out and getting rave reviews the world over. A common complaint with artists who find fame through a talent show is that they haven’t truly “earned” their success like other artists have. One look at Lambert’s back story will tell you that this is far from true, and he’s only just reached his prime. We’re going to be seeing a lot more of him for a long time, and any pop fan around should be very, very glad of that fact. Highly recommended.

Live reviews

Adam Lambert is a brilliant singer in his own right. He is "entertainment plus". I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the concert fri night. His voice is out of this world. "I can't speak highly enough"of him. He kept everybody entertained all night. He's a great showman and the perfect choice for Queens frontman. I saw Adam at the palais theatre also, and he was fantastic. I will always go too see him when he's in Melbourne. I'm hoping that one day, I will be able too meet him in person and have a chat and a picture taken with him. Adam has a terrific sense of humour and made people laugh with his antics. He is a true showman all the way. He interacted with the crowd extremely well. He works so hard, and deserves all that is good in this world. He is tops in my book. Adam covered the songs of Queen with ease. I would have liked too have heard a few more of his songs. He's a star, in every sense of the word. He's worth every penny, too go and see, and witness this great entertainer in action. He sounds just as good live, as he does on CDs. I came away from the concert with such a buzz. It was great too hear Brian say, " that they wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Adam". I'm looking forward too seeing some more concerts of Adams in the future. The concert was such fun. I enjoyed singing along with Adam and Queen. I wasn't disappointed with any aspect of the show. Thanks for a really great night Adam you are amazing. Loved your outfits. I hope Adam and Queen enjoyed doing the show just as much as I loved watching it.

Thanks for a great night, Trisha Mac

Okay, this was my first concert, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I really think that that is irrelevant. THIS SHOW COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER! This light show, the videos, the presentation, were all perfection. The band members were amazing and gave their all; phenomenal work! And then there was Adam Lambert...I didn't know it was possible for a human to hit notes like that! I felt an electrical thrill run through me every time he hit a falsetto, and then he'd pull it down to a soft tender note, and I would shiver all the way down to my toes from the emotion he put into it. No one could stop themselves from dancing and singing along. It was infectious. The atmosphere that was created was ethereal, raw, powerful, and completely out of this world. If you have concerts to this show, you will have the time of your life without a doubt! Savour every moment! I would go again in a heartbeat.

In a word - spectacular!!

Lambert can flat out sing - an exceptional talent with an on stage presence that has matured. And it's clear that he's focused on ensuring people know he's about love and tolerance.

Just like at CMT earlier this week where he sang Girl Crush to an awe struck crowd in Nashville, Lambert simply crushed it in SD on Dec 4 playing a 45 minute set to his home town crowd.

New hit Ghost Town was his opening song and then onto Original High and Evil in the Night and the newly promoted Another Lonely Night. Adam also performed a few of his older hits to the delight of the nearly 3,000 attendees. The song quality of Adam's performance was the best of the night following Andy Grammer, Echosmith and Elle King who all performed admirably. It was Lambert, however, that folks came to see and his did not disappoint.

Im lucky, it wasnt my first Adam Lambert concert! And it wont he my last! He was simply wonderful - his voice & stage presence were superb & of course he was as handsome as ever.

I saw Queen & Freddie in 1977, & whilst Brian, Roger & the team were also unforgetable on Saturday night, with Brians guitar expertise out of this world; but as usual Adam stole the show.

Ive been a huge fan of his since 2009 when he sang Mad World on Idol on my Birthday that year - hes well schooled & such a gentleman with a crazy sense of humour - so I find it hard not to watch him sing etc. In the past 18nths Ive cut down on TV & watch Adam on youtube many nights each week. Hes truly an addiction.

Im a published writer & My greatest dream is to meet this wonderful man sometime soon. Cheers. Robina

This guy "Adam" is an absolute master.

He commands his voice so well, highs, lows, and on and on and on, I have now seen him front Queen 3 times across Australia. He is not here to replace Freddie (no-one can). but to bring us the great Queen music from when Freddie was alive, for us all to celebrate in today's times. Adam has the charm, cheekiness & charisma that I think Freddie would have approved of, Brain & Roger do ! obviously, after 8 years he is still touring with them.

I would love to see Adam (only) live, but I believe his passion will still shine through, it is hard to believe he is now 38yo. From watching him on Idol to watching him on stage just the other night, he is going to be a legend of our time.

Thank you Adam

To see Adam Lambert perform at Fall Fest from Fresh 102.7 radio station was a delight. I didn't really care about other artists playing that night. And they were little boring. But when Adam came out, the theater came alive. The choice of songs was great. Most from his newest album (The ogirinal High) and his biggest hit "What do you want from me". And his voice....The best. He interacted with the audience (like always), never disappointing his fans. I just wish he played more songs. I understand that there is a limit to how many songs artists can sing where you have several of them performing, but I can't get enough. I hope he is going to tour by himself.

queen + adam lambert was a great show. adam tries hard to act with the spirit of freגdie and still be unique so far it works.

the other band members also gave great and unique improv for a change.

the only downside perfomance wise, it was way too short, i would love new materials and to see classics like bicycle race, let me entertain you and i'm in love with my car live.

another con, relates to the production in israel. don't know if it gets to them, but it was very poor. bad venue, strict finishing hour, bad acoustics, too crowded for the venue both by parking which wasn't managed and viewpoints of the stage.

The Queen concert was brilliant in every way & I hope to see -at least- another one in London in July. The 2nd of July is already planned so I hope there is another after that? I also hope to see one of Adams own concerts sometime this year.

Adam is the greatest Singer & Showman on this planet; & being so handsome makes him so much easier to enjoy. Of course, the boys from Queen having so much talent makes them also easy to listen to, however Adam outshines everyone.

Ive been an Adam fan for 9years now & I wont change.

Songkick - please keep me informed of all of Adams performances.

Cheers. Robina

What a show! From the moment he strode out with the confidence of a young George Michael, to the closing number, Adam Lambert was phenomenal. He has grown into the role of Queen front man with all the glory and flare of Freddy, while retaining his own sense of style and humour. His vocals were perfection as always, soaring notes that carried the crowd to places that touched their souls. Great moments when he was dancing like no one was watching. You could not help but be carried by his joy of being on stage doing what he loves. A great performer, a beautiful soul, a wonderful experience.

Queen + Adam Lambert Unveil North American ‘Rhapsody’ Tour Dates: ‘These Are New Glory Days’

Queen Adam Lambert

“These are kind of new glory days for us,” said Queen guitarist and founding member Brian May, who was literally knighted by King Charles III earlier this month. “It’s nice to think that hopefully there will be the demand for that.”

But the guitarist, along with founding drummer Roger Taylor and singer Adam Lambert , was on the other side of the Atlantic in Thursday, in New York to announce the group’s 14-show North American leg of its “Rhapsody” tour — its first since 2019 — which runs from Oct. 4 through Nov. 11.

The tour follows last year’s 36-date summer tour across the U.K. and Europe, which included a 10-date residency at London’s the O2 Arena and opening the Platinum Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace in recognition of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-year reign.

Shows on the overseas “Rhapsody” tour dates featured around 25 songs plus four encore numbers, and included the hits “Killer Queen,” “Fat Bottomed Girls, “Another One Bites the Dust, “We Will Rock You / We Are the Champions” and the song with more than 2 billion Spotify streams that lent its title to a film and this tour, “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Queen promises some deeper cuts on this jaunt. Lambert says, “I’m not sure exactly what we’ll pull out for this one. Look, I would be happy just to show up and do what I was told if that was how it was. But I’ve been really fortunate to work with these two gentlemen who are very collaborative, and we get to all throw ideas in and work things out. I’m really grateful for that it makes me even more invested in it.

It’s been a decade since the group’s first live American concert, though the first time they performed was in 2009 when May and Taylor were guests on the eighth season of “Idol.” May remembers the first actual American concert in Las Vegas in 2013 for the iHeart Music Festival: “It felt so good both internally and from the [crowd] reaction that we thought, ‘My God, this is something we shouldn’t be letting go.’ I think we foresaw some kind of future, didn’t we? But not quite as big as it actually happened. It’s been colossal.”

Lambert agreed, “I don’t think I would have imagined that it would have been the gift that keeps on giving.”

The current Rhapsody tour features Queen + Adam Lambert’s regular band members, longtime keyboard player and musical director Spike Edney, bass guitarist Neil Fairclough and percussionist Tyler Warren. Founding bassist John Deacon left the band and effectively retired from music following Freddie Mercury’s 1991 death, and chose not to be present at Queen’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

Despite a 30-year-plus age difference between Lambert, 41, and May, 75 and Taylor, 73, the three have an easy camaraderie that’s evident both onstage and off. Lambert was only three when Queen’s iconic 1985 Live Aid performance rocked the world, but it was something he got to recreate at the Fire Fight fundraiser concert in Sydney, Australia in February 2020, a month before Covid shut down the world.

As a fan growing up, Lambert was familiar with Queen’s Live Aid footage. “But when it came time to first join the band on stage, I was like, ‘I have to know my stuff’ so I watched as much as I could. Besides Live Aid, one of my favorite things was Montreal concert where Freddie was running around in a pair of itty bitty white shorts and no shoes,” Lambert says. “I just I remember seeing that and going ‘This guy’s amazing.’ He was so free and ridiculous and just full of joy and I’ve been so inspired by that spirit. I try to approach shows with that same humor…”

“And shorts?” Taylor quipped.

“Not the shorts for me — Freddie had much better legs,” Lambert concluded.

A general on sale date for the Queen + Adam Lambert  U.S. tour is March 31, and in light of exorbitant ticket prices and “dynamic pricing,” the band stated in a release that “In an effort to help minimize resale and keep ticket prices at face value for fans, the band are collaborating with the venues’ ticketing partners to restrict the ability to transfer tickets for the Rhapsody tour so that they may only be transferred between fans at the original price.”

Queen + Adam Lambert Announce 2023 North American ‘Rhapsody’ Tour Dates

By Andy Greene

Andy Greene

Queen + Adam Lambert are bringing their Rhapsody Tour back to North America for their first shows on this side of the Atlantic since 2019. The tour kicks off Oct. 4 in Baltimore, Maryland, and wraps up Nov. 11 in Los Angeles, California.

“This tour has lots of new bells and lots of new whistles,” Queen guitarist Brian May tells Rolling Stone . “We’ve evolved as performers, I think. We’ve stepped up our game. We have better chemistry than ever. We understand each other better than ever, and we feel more free in the way that we interpret stuff. We’re very happy with it. There’s lots of new production and stuff we want to excite you with.”

The set will focus on Queen classics like “Another One Bites The Dust,” “Somebody to Love,” and “Radio Ga Ga.” But they sprinkled in deep cuts like “Tear It Up” and “A King of Magic” in Europe last year, and hope to keep doing that.

“This show has evolved since its been in America since we’ve taken it around the world,” adds drummer Roger Taylor. “It’s quite a different show in a way, while retaining all the big hits, which so many people want to hear.”

Ticket sales begin Friday, March 31. In an effort to keep prices low and reduce scalping, the band is going to utilize the Ticketmaster Face Value Exchange, which makes it impossible to sell tickets for more than face value. “It’s an experiment,” says May. “We got sick of seeing our fans get ripped off by scalpers. We’re hoping this works out.”

Editor’s picks

The 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history, every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term.

Queen + Adam Lambert first played together on the 2009 finale of American Idol. They began gigging together in 2012, and have stayed on the road consistently over the past decade. Filling in for Freddie Mercury was a daunting task at first for Lambert, but he’s grown very comfortable with the job over the years.

“I feel less anxiety now,” he says. “I’ve matured as a performer. I trust myself a bit more. I will say that when the movie [ Bohemian Rhapsody ] came out, we had all these new fans, and many of them were young, I felt this little pang of, ‘Oh, these are new fans that haven’t been to a show yet.’ I needed to prove myself again, which is good. It keeps me on my game.”

The 2018 movie was an enormous success that grossed $911 million and won four Academy Awards, including Best Actor for star Rami Malek. It ends at Live Aid in 1985, and there’s been scattered talk over the past few years of a sequel that would chronicle Mercury’s final years.

“We need a script,” says May. “That’s what it comes down to. It took us 12 years to get the script for Bohemian Rhapsody , and get the right team in place. I’m not anxious. I think if the right thing comes along, it might work. We have our wonderful producer, Graham King, on it. It’s a possibility. If the right planets align, it might happen.”

At the moment, this next leg of the Rhapsody Tour is just 14 shows, but it’s very possible they’ll tack on more. “People are buying tickets,” says Lambert. “And hey, we like performing.”

Having first launched their universally acclaimed Rhapsody Tour with 26 epic shows across North America during June & July 2019, Queen + Adam Lambert are taking their highly acclaimed production, now expanded and updated, back to where it first began.

Sir Brian May, Roger Taylor and their exceptional frontman Adam Lambert are returning for a further spectacular North American run of sold out shows which gets underway next week with its opening show Wednesday October 4 in Baltimore.

Promising an “even more ambitious show”, the band’s 23-date US tour begins October 4 with the first of two shows at Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena continuing throughout North America including stops in Toronto, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Denver and further cities before closing out with a pair of dates at Los Angeles’s BMO Stadium November 11 and 12. In addition, the band will perform a special one-off headliner on October 21 at the Formula 1 Lenovo U.S. Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas, Austin, Texas.

Brian May says, “We’re still calling our show “The Rhapsody Tour,” but the content has evolved massively from when you last saw it. New toys, new takes, but all the hits and more.”

Says Adam Lambert says: “I consider it a beautiful twist of fate that I was put on a path that aligned me with Brian and Roger. I can’t wait to tour North America one more time alongside the two unbelievably talented legends that are Brian May and Roger Taylor.”

Roger Taylor adds: “Adam is certainly a real force on stage. It’s been nothing but a riotously funny and enjoyable journey with him. He is simply one of the best vocalists in the world – FACT!”

Queen + Adam Lambert’s 150-minute career-spanning set list celebrates the band’s extraordinary back catalogue, lining up immortal anthems like “We Will Rock You”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “Radio Ga Ga”, and “Somebody To Love” alongside classic deep cuts and vintage fan favourites.

Featuring a dazzling state-of-the-art stage design, incredible special effects and set pieces, this sense-swamping extravaganza has been blowing critics and fans away the world over since its very first unveiling in North America in 2019 .

It has been over a year since the band last toured their acclaimed “Rhapsody Tour,” which was highlighted across the world in royal fashion Saturday June 4, 2022 with a special performance in front of London’s Buckingham Palace as the opener for the Platinum Jubilee concert celebrating the late H.M. Queen Elizabeth’s 70-year reign, providing an altogether magnificent opener for its UK & European run of sold-out dates which saw the band play the Rhapsody tour across the UK and 11 countries throughout Europe, in all playing a total of 36 concerts.

The 2023 North American tour will see Queen + Adam Lambert supported on stage by their regular band members, long-serving Queen keyboard player Spike Edney, bass guitarist Neil Fairclough and percussionist Tyler Warren.

Having extensively toured since it first debuted in North America in 2019, the Rhapsody show is forever evolving. But it remains at heart a tribute to Freddie Mercury’s majestic legacy, a confirmation of Brian and Roger’s undimmed musical prowess, plus a magnificent showcase for Adam’s vocal skills and electrifying stage charisma, all adding up to a glorious full-blooded celebration of one of the greatest songbooks in rock history.

Queen + Adam Lambert Announce ‘The Rhapsody Tour’ Fall 2023 North American Dates

Queen + Adam Lambert are back to rock North America one more time, announcing fall North American dates for "The Rhapsody Tour."

The trek is set to launch Oct. 4 in Baltimore, Maryland and will hit stops in the U.S. and Canada through a Nov. 11 finale in Los Angeles. See all of the dates, cities and venues listed toward the bottom of the page.

For fans wondering, Queen view the show as an evolution of the performances that they were putting on prior to the pandemic. "We were changing it and improving it as we went, and we are now going through all of those improvements again when it comes to this American leg," says drummer Roger Taylor to Billboard .

When asked about the changes to the set and production, guitarist Brian May was coy, explaining, "Well, we’re not gonna tell you that much, we don’t want to spoil it. [laughs] But the nice things is that the material is what ultimately gives the ideas, and we’re able to develop those ideas as we go along. We get to throw more and more stuff in, production-wise."

Lambert chimed in, "I will say, the technology has come so far, even in the 10 years that we’ve worked together. It gives us so much freedom when it comes to what we want to create, what environment we want to put around a song. We have all of these toys that we get to play with, which we all get a big kick out of. We have an amazing creative team that work with us — I mean, we add something in a couple of days if we have a cool idea. Once the show kicks off, the show is never locked. It’s never the same show every night, we have the ability to throw a new song in, move the set around, change the visuals. There’s so much freedom."

As for whether or not this is the band's final run, May commented, "Let me be clear, this is not a farewell tour. You can always do one more time … and then one more time … and then another time after that!"

Tickets for "The Rhapsody Tour" will go on sale next Friday (March 31) at 10AM local time via Live Nation .

Adam Lambert Says It Was 'Lovely' to Meet Kate Middleton at Carol Concert (Exclusive)

The rocker tells PEOPLE all about the "breathtaking" energy of Westminster Abbey

Janine Henni is a Royals Staff Writer for PEOPLE Digital, covering modern monarchies and the world's most famous families. Like Queen Elizabeth, she loves horses and a great tiara moment.

Adam Lambert helped kick off the royal family's festive season by performing at Kate Middleton 's Together At Christmas carol concert.

Lambert, 41, was among the artists tapped to perform at the Princess of Wales’ third annual Christmas carol service, which was held at Westminster Abbey last Friday. The American Idol alum exclusively tells PEOPLE that it was surreal to sing inside the historic abbey — and shared that he connected with Princess Kate ahead of his performance.

“I had the honor of meeting Catherine, Princess of Wales. She invited the performers she wanted to see at the service, and it was lovely to visit with her before we performed,” Lambert tells PEOPLE.

Lambert sang “The Christmas Song” alongside British singer-songwriter Beverley Knight shortly before Prince William delivered a Bible reading. An attendee said that George, Charlotte and Louis "watched intently" as Lambert and Knight sang the Christmas classic.

According to the artist, the atmosphere inside Westminster Abbey (where the Prince and Princess of Wales wed in 2011 and King Charles was crowned in May) was completely serene when it came time to hit the mic.

“Very still, which added a calmness to my energy. The song felt sort of like a lullaby,” Lambert says.

The "Whataya Want from Me" hitmaker, who first rose to fame on season 8 of American Idol , says that the depth of the setting added to the grandeur.

“I've always loved history and old architecture, and this is sort of my sweet spot. I was able to walk around a little bit after my rehearsal and just kind of take a little self-guided tour of some of the areas inside at the Abbey and it's just breathtaking, and the amount of history in here is nuts,” Lambert says. “You know you have the tombs of monarchs and poets and other iconic historical figures, so it's pretty wild.”

The “If I Had You” singer says he was honored to be included in the exclusive lineup, which was also highlighted by the Westminster Abbey choir, Jacob Collier , Freya Ridings and James Bay.

“It's such an honor to be performing at the Westminster Abbey, a place that I've seen on television and in photos for years but have never been to myself, so it is quite breathtaking."

He was also "excited" to meet the royal family in the intimate setting.

“I've performed for the royals during the Queen’s Jubilee but they were quite far away on the other side of the crowd," he says. "So this will be sort of up close and personal and hopefully bringing Christmas cheer to people that tune in on Christmas Eve.”

In June 2022, the star performed at the BBC's "Platinum Party at the Palace" concert celebrating Queen Elizabeth ’s Platinum Jubilee through the Queen + Adam Lambert collaboration. The musical partnership between the American singer and members of the iconic British rock band opened the show epically held outside Buckingham Palace during the weekend of festivities marking Queen Elizabeth’s record 70-year reign.

Although Together At Christmas was limited to a select guest list on Friday (Westminster Abbey can only seat about 2,200 people!), the public can tune into the Royal Carols: Together at Christmas special airing on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve, as in years past.

The latest carol service was linked to The Royal Foundation for Early Childhood’s Shaping Us campaign that Princess Kate launched in January to raise awareness around the early years, and Kensington Palace said that the Dec. 24 broadcast will feature additional content around the topic.

PEOPLE's new special edition, Christmas at the Palace: A Royal Family Album , is available now on Amazon and wherever magazines are sold.

"It's a really flattering invite to receive from Princess Kate, to come and sing at this special event,” Lambert told PEOPLE, adding that he hoped she enjoyed what they had "in store for her."

Adam Lambert Says He’s Dropped Nearly 60 Pounds in Vulnerable Health Update

D uring a rare Instagram Live session on March 21, 2024, “American Idol” alum Adam Lambert disclosed several major shifts in his health to fans, including losing 60 pounds over the last eight months.

Lambert’s impromptu late-night video chat has since been deleted from his Instagram feed, but excerpts have been posted online by fans. In his 40-minute session, the 42-year-old singer opened up about how taking Mounjaro, a prescription diabetes and weight loss medication, has positively impacted his health — including giving him the confidence to wean off antidepressants.

Lambert, who’s been the lead singer of Queen since 2012, said he hadn’t planned on “spilling the tea” about his weight loss and mental health, but when a fan question led him to discuss Oprah Winfrey’s recent ABC special on weight loss, Lambert decided to discuss his own journey.

Adam Lambert Says ‘I Feel Incredible’ Amid Changes to His Physical & Mental Health

Chatting with fans from a dressing room in Sydney, where he’s serving as a coach on the Australian version of “The Voice,” Lambert’s revelations about his health came as he answered questions from fans, including one who asked when he last cried.

“I’m really easy to make cry watching TV,” Lambert replied. “I literally watched the Oprah special last night about weight loss drugs and got teary. It was such a touching moment, like, Oprah got choked up, too, about it.”

Lambert then said, “Actually, I’ll use this opportunity to talk about — I’m dropping some tea on you guys right now! I’ve been on Mounjaro for the last, I think, eight months and I’ve lost almost 60 pounds. I feel amazing.”

Noting that his doctor brought up the medication because his blood sugar “was not in a good space,” Lambert said he first tried a prescription for Ozempic but experience side effects including “the worst acid reflux.”

“When I switched to Mounjaro, a lot of those symptoms went away and I had hardly any side effects and I feel incredible,” he said. “I feel better, I feel more confident. I feel like my actual body feels better, like my digestive system feels more regulated.”

Lambert said that taking Mounjaro has helped him eat less, drink less alcohol and even feel so confident and capable that he’s weaned off his antidepressants.

“It’s affected my mental health is a really positive way,” Lambert said. “Actually — I’m spilling all the tea — I was on antidepressants for a while.”

Lambert explained that he still has “bad days” and “occasional anxiety moments,” but said that he feels more capable of managing the negative thoughts than when he was first prescribed that medication.

Adam Lambert Has Experienced Ups and Downs With His Weight Since He Was a Kid

Lambert has spoken previously about having struggled with weight and body confidence issues for much of his life, including in interviews after he was named the “American Idol” runner-up behind Kris Allen in 2009. That year, according to CNN, he told the Sirius satellite radio’s Larry Flick of the Morning Jolt that he was heavy as a teen.

“When I was in high school I was 250 pounds and that creates some stuff … some body image stuff, some confidence issues,” Lambert told the radio host. “And I got a lot of my confidence from the validation I got as a performer.”

In February 2023, a fan posted excerpts of an Instagram Live Lambert conducted at the time, during which he admitted he’d gained “pandemic pounds” and that he’d seen online comments about his obvious weight gain.

“I’m like, ‘Yeah, thanks for pointing that out,” he laughed. “I’m fully aware! I live in this body, I know it’s bigger.”

During his March 21 Instagram Live, Lambert also said that he appreciated how Winfrey’s TV special explained emotional eating, which can lead to weight gain.

Lambert said, “I know that growing up, when I was heavier, I was…eating my feelings, they say. Like, I was emotionally eating for sure. And I’ve had moments throughout my whole life (of doing that) and if it’s not because I’m sad, it might be because I’m stressed. Or because, you know, a lot of the travel that I do around the world, I get jet lagged and, like, the only thing that made me feel better was food for some reason.”

Calling food an “emotional security blanket” for many, Lambert urged people during his Instagram Live to hold their judgment on how others heal their issues with weight and drop pounds, whether strictly through diet and exercise or by using a prescription drug.

“I don’t think we should be judging each other on how we choose to take care of our body or address how our relationship to food is,” he said.
