Crumb announce UK tour

crumb band uk tour

Following the recent release of their new album Ice Melt, Crumb return to announce new North American, EU and U.K. tour (see dates below). The U.K. dates include a show at Electric Brixton on March 23rd 2022.

In conjunction with the tour announcement, Crumb are sharing a taste of what fans can expect on the road in the form of a live performance video taped at Ulster Performing Arts Center in Kingston, NY, which is also where they filmed the majority of their “Trophy” video. The session features performances of standout Ice Melt tracks “Up & Down,” “Seeds” and the album’s title track.

Convening in Los Angeles to work with producer Jonathan Rado, Crumb tapped into atmosphere-creation like never before, building experimental compositions that are at turns head-nodding and surrealist, energetic and euphoric. Singer and guitarist Lila Ramani characterizes the album as a “return back down to earth,” a deeply felt examination of “real substances and beings that live on this planet.”

Ice Melt is the follow up to Crumb’s critically-acclaimed debut Jinx, which Pitchfork described as having a “hypnotic quality [that] grows ever more romantic and tense with repeat listens,” and includes the previously-released singles “Trophy,” “Balloon” and “BNR.”

Watch Crumb’s performance video and listen to Ice Melt above, see tour dates and album details below, and stay tuned for more from Crumb coming soon. About Crumb: Crumb’s second album, Ice Melt, takes its name from the coarse blend of salts that you can buy from your local hardware store for $9.99 a bag. When sprinkled on your wintry steps, this mixture absorbs water and gives off heat, transforming the snow and ice into a viscous, briney slush and, eventually, nothing at all. Beginning with the dynamic chaos of “Up & Down,” and ending with Crumb’s closest thing to a lullaby, Ice Melt’s ten tracks combine, like ice sculptures melting into a glistening puddle, into the liquid record of a tumultuous, cathartic journey to safer ground. “Is it like magic or a dream?,” frontwoman Lila Ramani sings on the title track, weaving mythological undercurrents into mundane earthly processes. “It all drips down into the sea.”

From the start, Crumb was a nebulous project, stitched together from various locations, inspirations, experiences, and relationships. Even in their early days, living in jam-packed Boston apartments in 2016, the group knew that cohesion was best achieved through plumbing their individual strengths—Ramani’s earliest songwriting, which catalyzed the group’s first two EPs, Crumb (2016) and Locket (2017); Bri Aronow’s knack for building (dis)affecting soundscapes; Jesse Brotter’s melodic bass playing, a Crumb mainstay; and Jonathan Gilad’s drums, which give the music an otherworldly vitality. Even as their fan base grew, they chose to remain independent, self-releasing each album, and now Ice Melt, through their own label, Crumb Records. These early decisions have made Crumb a project of self-discovery, four creative minds converging around an idea that is always shifting and reforming.

Early 2020 found the members of Crumb convening in Los Angeles to work with producer Jonathan Rado, engineer/mixer Michael Harris, and walls of instruments and vintage hi-fi recording equipment at Electro-Vox Studios and Sonora Recorders. Working with Rado and Harris allowed Crumb to tap into atmosphere-creation like never before, building experimental, hypnotic compositions that are at turns head-nodding and surrealist, energetic and euphoric. Spectral synth drones buoy lilting bass and drums through noise guitar interruptions, digital glitch, and processed vocals on “Trophy.” “Balloon” builds into a warbling disco with helium-sucking alien voices inviting you to dance.

Ramani, who made many of the album’s initial demos on a trip to Los Angeles in 2019, characterizes the album as a “return back down to earth,” a deeply felt examination of “real substances and beings that live on this planet.” Ice Melt finds Ramani’s vocals in deeper interplay with her indelible guitar lines, which weave in and out of every track, the tones of each calibrated for the specific feeling of the moment. Aronow, inspired by their interest in the uninhibited nature of improvisation, transmutes colors and textures into the sonic backdrop of each track, creating the layered, synth-anchored nervous system of the album.

And if Ramani and Aronow provide something like the heart and gut to Ice Melt, Gilad and Brotter provide the bodily grounding, the arms and the legs of the project’s multiplex anatomy. Gilad’s thrashing, leveling percussion—using an expanded palette of samples and drum machines alongside his live kit—provides a focused, rhythmic vessel while allowing the album to reach ecstatic heights. And beyond Brotter’s bass, dexterous and elegant as ever, his attention to creative detail is apparent in every measure and miniscule production choice—well exemplified by his delicate backing vocals, which add a tenderness to tracks like the mercurial “Tunnel (all that you had).”

Crumb Crank Up The Terror On Another Enthralling New Single “Dust Bunny”

Crumb is back with new music with the release of “Dust Bunny,” another eerily invigorating offering from the beguiling four-piece. Crumb is back with new music with the release of “Dust Bunny,” another eerily invigorating offering from the beguiling four-piece. It’s the second single they’ve shared since the release of their glacially sonic sophomore album Ice Melt and follows the release of the dark space-age pop track “Crushxd.” The band has also begun a run of tour dates , which will include stops at The NOVO in Los Angeles on May 6 and The Observatory in Santa Ana on May 7 .

Comprised of Lila Ramani (guitar/vocals), Jesse Brotter (bass/vocals), Bri Aronow (synthesizers/keyboard/saxophone), and Jonathan Gilad (drums) the band known as Crumb have found themselves caught in a meteoric rise ever since their first EP. If you haven’t yet had the pleasure to be engulfed in their absorbing soundscapes then their new single “Dust Bunny” is as sublime a song as any in their discography.

Against a smattering of breakbeat percussion and haunting electronica, it draws you in like many a Crumb track might: with a dually melancholic but beckoning lyricism that’s given life to Ramani’s breathy murmurs. Her lambent words beam alongside the band’s dreamily-sleek synth tones and droning guitar lines. Listening to a Crumb song often sounds and feels like what you might expect slipping into a wormhole of the mind might sound and feel like.

In “Dust Bunny,” that journey into such an intimate phantasmagoria is reflected in the band’s enthralling lyrics as well. “How long ’til it comes? Pull the weight off my tongue,” a dreamy surrealism melting into the sonorous background. “And where will it land in the harsh beating sun?” Yet all the anxiety and terror that seems to edge from the track only makes its captivating melodies and the gloaming drawl of their words all the more enticing.

Huge 1990s band announces new tour 30 years after record breaking chart-topping hit

Wet Wet Wet

Wet Wet Wet are heading back on the road for two UK tours in 2025.

Now fronted by Liberty X singer and The Voice winner Kevin Simm, the iconic 1990s band – still with founding members Graeme Clark and Graeme Duffin – will be travelling the country with their epic catalogue of hits.

With a run of shows in January and February followed by a second stint in October, they will be celebrating 30 years since Love Is All Around topped the charts.

Back in 1994, Wet Wet Wet’s take on The Troggs’ beloved 1960s song – which they covered for Richard Curtis film Four Weddings And A Funeral – spent a record 15 consecutive weeks in the top spot.

It’s a feat which is yet to be beaten, while there 56 career appearances on Top of the Pops, including 19 in 1994 alone, is unmatched by a Scottish band.

Kevin said: ‘It’s so exciting to be going back out on tour throughout 2025! Our recent concerts created some fantastic memories for us all and it was an incredible experience that I will never ever forget!’

Duffin added: ‘The sold out 2024 tour was the most joyful and celebratory tour I’ve been on. I am eagerly looking forward to these dates in 2025.

‘It is such a pleasure and privilege to have the opportunity to play to such lovely appreciative audiences, and I can’t wait to do it all over again, see you soon!’

The group – who also found success with the likes of Angel Eyes, With A Little Help From My Friends, Julia Says, Goodnight Girl and Sweet Little Mystery – will be joined on the tour by M People singer Heather Small, known for belting out mega hits like Moving On Up and Search For The Hero.

Clark revealed: ‘We were headlining a festival in Dubai recently where we bumped into the wonderful Heather Small and we are absolutely delighted that she’s accepted our invitation to join us as special guest on all of our tour dates next year.

Wet Wet Wet

‘Simply put, these shows are not to be missed!’

Heather added: ‘I’m so excited to join Wet Wet Wet on their extensive tour in 2025. I’m a fan of their music, so to be able to share these stages with them will be a real pleasure, it’s going to be one big party!’

Former Liberty X man Kevin has been part of the Wets’ lineup since 2018, when original member Marti Pellow left to focus on his solo career.

Wet Wet Wet tickets go on sale Friday, March 22 at 10am from  Ticketmaster.co.uk .

Who is Crumb? Meet Psych-Rock's Newest Obsession

With the hallucinogenic music videos and jazzy psych-rock vibes, one could assume Crumb is a '60s band transplanted into 2019, searching for nirvana. (Maybe they are.)

The New York-based quartet have been blowing up the indie channels with a unique sound reminiscent of the groovy tunes of bands like The Moody Blues and Moby Grape. With lead singer and song-writer Lila Ramani's expertise in creating songs that can both calm you down and hype you up, Crumb is making a name for themselves with their unique influences and sound.

The four members; Ramani, bassist Jesse Brotter, keyboardist-saxophonist Brian Aronow, and drummer Jonathan Gilad met five years ago at Tufts University, where they all studied. At Tufts, the quartet experimented with funk, soul and rock as they found their individual and collective sound. The band formed to explore lead singer Ramani's songwriting, expanding on her already-complete songs, as bassist Brotter recalls to Paste :

“Lila had these tracks that she was willingly un-protective of and let us, as a group, open them up...honestly, we started playing out of a love for her songs, but then it morphed into this creative process that turned into being a band.”

With two EPs under their belt by 2018, its safe to say that the band is more than a creative amalgamation of Ramani's work, as the quartet find themselves bringing in their own individual sounds and influences to create a sound that is not only unique, but popular, driving from Brazilian soul and '60s psych rock. Check out their single "Locket" from their 2017 EP Locket, which has almost 12 million views!

Part of Crumb's charm comes from their music videos, which evoke a sense of peace and chaos akin to the hallucinogenic vibes from psychedelia. Their music videos echo their music, as band member Aranow told Pitchfork, “A big part of the music is about being detached and taking you to a specific place in your own mind.” See the video for their hit "Bones," and see for yourself!

Since the band's first EP, Crumb hit the stores in 2016, the foursome has seen massive success thanks to a sound that is irrevocably unique, with more than 20 million streams on Spotify. The band has kept the momentum going, releasing their full debut album on June 24, 2019 titled Jinx . The band has seen a lot of support from their fans, so much so that their album is completely self-funded and independently released. When asked why they decided to self-release the band said,

" It’s a really crazy time to be making music and releasing it independently: using different platforms and pairing visuals with things and thinking about how it’s gonna be received while not sacrificing our little enclosed world. "

The band has celebrated this release with a fall tour shortly after the album's release, treating fans to their take on psych rock with intimate performances that serve to give the band exposure to the fans that make their work possible. Check out one of their performances below!

With 2020 on the horizon, there is much in the air for where music will be taken in the next year. One thing is for certain, however, Crumb is just getting started.

Crumb Ice Melt

By Brian Coney

May 14, 2021

On their 2019 debut, Jinx , Crumb slowly lowered dazed psych-rock into a loungey abyss, evoking the feeling of one long summer day spent entirely inside the endless buzz of an anxious mind. It was unnerving and terrific. Before forming at college in Boston, the Brooklyn-based quartet honed their chops in low-profile jazz, soul, and rock groups. After a couple EPs, they flourished in the softly lit chasm of their debut—now Ice Melt captures a band breaking free of the trance for a little more clarity. Even at its most blasé, Crumb’s music can sometimes feel, well, dreadful. “Trophy” calls to mind sudden vertigo that won’t shift. “Ice Melt” captures the singular unease of coming up in a bad frame of mind. Crumb have distanced themselves from being a band that makes music that simply wafts in and out of the room on a lazy afternoon (“I wouldn't want to chill to our music,” singer-guitarist Lila Ramani told Pitchfork in 2019). Highlights here like “Up and Down,” a helter-skelter of slinking arpeggios with hat-tips to the golden era of trip-hop, support the position. Beyond a general air of cosmic longing, aided by violinist Maeve Feinberg on songs including “Gone,” Crumb zone in on the low-key doom they have always dabbled in. With Foxygen ’s Jonathan Rado co-producing, Ice Melt pushes the band forward with more lucidity and more manipulated space. While the thrashing, high-gain climax of “Tunnel” sounds like a band briefly weary of nuance, the empty drift between “Seeds” and “L.A.” feels like forever. Speaking to Rolling Stone , bassist Jesse Brotter revealed one of the more curious advances: “We’d take a microphone, put a condom on it, put that in a bucket filled with water, and then play a sound source at the water, so you would get a slight underwater effect that you could merge it with the original sound source.” The punch-drunk panning of Bri Aronow’s synth work on “Gone” and “Up & Down” sounds like an obvious success story here. Paired with Ramani’s phaser-doused shapes, they sit like swells of seafoam in the mix.

As the band’s main songwriter, Ramani has always threaded Crumb’s songs with oblique impressions akin to an interior monologue when people-watching. On Ice Melt , whether loosely riffing on belonging (“Retreat!”) or characterizing strawberry seeds as shoes on her feet (“BNR”), she continues to grasp the power of ambiguity, while offering a reminder that simply being a human in the world can feel just as unknowable. Occasionally, though, outliers such as “Gone” buck the trend: “Ma rolls in the waves/She wants someone to save her/Says she used to be a beauty/Then they took her soul/So far away from here.” She cryptically referred to her family on Jinx highlight “Faces” (“All of my heroes are people I know”), but by directly evoking her artist mother, Ramani pushes biographical detail through a haze of sleepy non-sequiturs. According to Brotter, the hallucinatory scenes that made up Jinx stemmed from a collective exploration of “loss and fate and some other myth around the band.” Even at its most hope-sapped, Ice Melt sounds like four old college friends brightening the corners of their twilit sound. By refining their reality, and allowing themselves to be a little more seen, they feel more reachable than ever.

The newly-announced dates are in addition to an extensive North American tour that begins with an appearance at  Coachella Festival  on April 14, and runs through to  Bonnaroo Festival  on June 14. Following that, the band will travel to Europe for a series of festival shows, including  Latitude ,  Roskilde ,  Rock Werchter  and  Bilbao BBK .

Khruangbin’s UK and European tour dates are:

OCTOBER 31 – Amsterdam, AFAS NOVEMBER 1 – Amsterdam, AFAS  2 – Antwerp, Lotto  4 – Paris, Olympia  5 – Paris, Olympia 7 – Berlin, Tempodrum  11 – Milan, Alcatraz  12 – Zurich, Halle 622  15 – Glasgow, OVO Hydro  17 – Manchester, O2 Apollo 18 – Manchester, O2 Apollo  20 – London, Eventim Apollo  21 – London, Eventim Apollo 22 – London, Eventim Apollo  24 – Dublin, 3Arena

The American trio worked with singer-songwriter  Leon Bridges  on a second collaborative EP, entitled ‘Texas Moon’, back in 2022 and the new album marks their first original music as a band since 2020, aside from various remixes.

The band also graced  NME ‘s cover back in 2020.  Speaking about their perceived rapid rise to fame at the time, the band’s Laura Lee said: “You have no idea how long it’s going to last when you’re starting out. The whole of last year was a real ‘Holy shit!’ moment. We set out to be a worldwide band – and we got it.”
