A new credit card hitting the market is a relatively rare event, and a new rewards program happens even less often. The new Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Visa® Card* begins taking online applications March 20 and coincides with the launch of Wells Fargo’s new travel rewards program. Both will give Wells Fargo a competitive edge in the travel credit card space, which has been previously dominated by competitors like Chase , American Express and Capital One .
We have the basics you need to know about this new card, plus four insider tips to help decide if you should make plans to add the Autograph Journey to your credit card lineup.
What you need to know about the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey Visa Card
Before we dive into the hidden features and benefits, here’s an overview of what you can expect with the Autograph Journey when online applications open on March 20:
- Earn 60,000 welcome bonus rewards points after spending $4,000 in purchases within three months of account opening
- Earn unlimited 5x points on hotels, 4x points on airlines, 3x points on other travel and dining and 1x on other purchases
- Receive an annual statement credit with a $50 minimum airline purchase
- No foreign transaction fees
- Other benefits include trip cancellation and interruption insurance, lost luggage reimbursement, roadside dispatch and cell phone insurance
- $95 annual fee
4 important details about the Autograph Journey
Here’s a rundown of four facts we discovered about the Autograph Journey that you should know when deciding whether to apply.
1. You can transfer points with Wells Fargo point-based cards
The launch of the Autograph Journey also marks the first transferable points program from Wells Fargo, which joins other card issuers like Chase and Capital One, which have their own pooling programs .
Autograph Journey will be able to do a points transfer with the no-annual-fee Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card . This is especially notable since the Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card offers bonus rewards in different categories than the Autograph Journey.
For example, the Autograph card earns unlimited 3x points on restaurants, travel, gas stations, transit, popular streaming services and phone plans, plus 1x points on other purchases. So you can maximize your point earning across different categories, then transfer your points to your Autograph Journey account to access premium travel redemptions.
2. It offers more options for earning bonus miles on travel than some competitors
The Autograph Journey will offer more flexibility than many travel rewards cards when it comes to earning more points on travel purchases. For example, cardholders earn unlimited 5x points on hotels booked directly with hotel brands and 4x points on airfare booked with airlines.
This helps the card stand out from other popular travel credit cards that offer the most bonus points only if you book travel through their portals. For example, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card * and the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card * only offer the highest bonus rewards on travel booked through Capital One Travel. The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card also offers its highest rate of 5X points on travel booked through Chase Ultimate Rewards, whereas other travel purchases earn 2X points.
Autograph Journey cardholders also earn a minimum of 3x points on other travel purchases, which could include rental cars, cruises and travel booked through online travel agencies like Expedia and Priceline.
3. The card may grow in value as more transfer partners join
The Autograph Journey Card will earn flexible travel rewards points that transfer to a selection of airline and hotel partners, similar to Amex Membership Rewards points or Chase Ultimate Rewards . While the list of transfer partners is limited, Wells Fargo stated in its initial press release that “more partners will continue to be added throughout the year.”
Points transfers could dramatically change the value proposition of the Autograph Journey, especially if new partners include domestic airlines and popular hotel loyalty programs.
Wells Fargo point transfers will be available to new cardholders starting on April 4. For now, Wells Fargo transfer partners include the following:
4. You may need to wait to apply
If you’ve applied for another Wells Fargo card in the last six months, you’ll likely have to wait a little longer before applying for the Autograph Journey.
Wells Fargo states in its terms and conditions, “If you opened a Wells Fargo Credit Card account within the last six months, then you may not qualify to open an additional Wells Fargo Credit Card account. We may also limit how many open Wells Fargo Credit Card accounts you have.”
So if you want the new Autograph Journey, you should steer clear of applying for other cards from Wells Fargo for now. If you’re approved and use the card responsibly for six months or longer, you can consider adding additional Wells Fargo credit cards to your portfolio.

There’s a new Chase Travel promo offering the chance to earn up to 10,000 bonus Chase Ultimate Rewards points. To take advantage of this promo, you’ll need to register and book 2 or more travel components through Chase Travel with a participating credit card.
Here are the details of this new Chase Travel bonus points offer.
A new promo is offering up to 10,000 bonus Chase Ultimate Rewards points when booking through Chase Travel . This deal is good for bookings made with an eligible Chase card through May 31, 2024, for travel through December 31, 2024. This promotion is targeted, and registration is required .
Of course, there are some details you’ll want to keep in mind.
- Book 2 qualifying travel components (a hotel stay with a flight, car rental, or cruise) to earn 5,000 points.
- Book an additional qualifying hotel stay, car rental, or cruise to earn an additional 3,000 points.
- Earn an additional 2,000 points if you haven’t booked with Chase Travel since March 1, 2023.
- All combined purchases must total at least $150.
- Purchases that are canceled or refunded won’t be eligible for bonus points.
- Direct link to offer
To qualify for bonus points, you must use the same card to purchase travel that you used to register for the promotion. Eligible cards include:
- Chase Freedom ® card (no longer open to new applicants)
- Chase Freedom Flex℠
- Chase Freedom Rise℠ Credit Card
- Chase Freedom Unlimited ®
- Ink Business Cash ® Credit Card
- Ink Business Plus ® Credit Card
- Ink Business Preferred ® Credit Card
- Ink Business Premier℠ Credit Card
- Ink Business Unlimited ® Credit Card
- Ink Cash ® Credit Card (no longer open to new applicants)
- Chase Sapphire ® Card (no longer open to new applicants)
- Chase Sapphire Preferred ® Card
- Chase Sapphire Reserve ®
We value Chase points at 2 cents each, so 10,000 Chase points (the maximum you can get with this promotion) would be worth about $200 . If you have reservations to book anyway and the prices through Chase Travel are competitive, getting an extra 10,000 points is a solid bonus, especially considering many eligible cards earn 5x to 10x points per dollar already through Chase Travel.
However, it’s important to compare prices before booking through an online travel agency like Chase Travel. Don’t forget to compare cancellation policies, too, as they can vary based on how you book. One last thing to consider when booking through Chase Travel is that if something goes wrong, you’ll need to deal with Chase Travel instead of the airline, hotel, car rental company, or cruise line, which can add an extra layer of hassle.
However, if the price and cancelation policy through Chase Travel is similar to what you were going to book anyway, this is a great opportunity to score a nice chunk of bonus points.
Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be redeemed in many ways, but our favorite way to use them is for luxury hotel stays and fantastic business class flights.
A new targeted promotion is offering up to 10,000 bonus Chase points by booking travel through Chase Travel. This deal is for bookings made by May 31, 2024, for travel through the end of 2024, and registration is required.
If you have plans to book through Chase Travel or you have upcoming travel that can be booked through Chase Travel, this is a great opportunity to earn some bonus Chase points.

Wells fargo announces a new travel rewards card, the autograph journey — get 60,000 transferrable points and much more, the wells fargo autograph journey credit card is amazing for travel spending and earns transferable points..
Wells Fargo is making a splash in the credit card space with the announcement of a brand new travel rewards card to go along with a revamped rewards program. The new Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Visa® Card features an exceptional return on travel spending and the ability to transfer points to a handful of travel partners.
The Autograph Journey card will be available at select Wells Fargo branches starting March 9, 2024 and online from March 20th of the same year. Here's what we know so far about this new rewards credit card , its benefits and how it stacks up against the competition.
What we know about the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey card
The Autograph Journey card doesn't mess around when it comes to earning points — here's what you'll get when making purchases this credit card :
- 5X points on hotels
- 4X points on airlines
- 3X points on other travel
- 3X points on dining
- 1X points on all other purchases
The earning structure of the rewards helps make the Autograph Journey a strong competitor in the travel card space. Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card , which also charges a $95 annual fee (see rates and fees ), earns 5X miles on hotel and car rental purchases — but only if you book through Capital One Travel, the issuer's travel portal. One of the Autograph Journey's standout features is that it lets you earn high rewards on hotel and airline spending no matter how you book. The points you can earn are unlimited, so your balance can grow quickly, especially if you spend a lot on hotels and airlines . Another way to quickly rack up points is through the card's intro bonus , which is worth 60,000 points after spending $4,000 on the card in the first three months.
The Autograph Journey card has a $95 annual fee, which is partially offset by a $50 annual airline credit, which you can earn each account anniversary year. To qualify for the credit, the transaction must be at least $50 (you can't earn a partial credit) and the merchant must fall under the airline or air carrier category. So this credit should apply to airfare, checked-bag fees, seat selection fees and more, as long as you meet the $50 threshold. The credit applies to the first transaction of $50 or more.
The Autograph Journey also has a solid lineup of credit card insurance benefits, including:
- Trip interruption/cancellation coverage
- Lost luggage reimbursement
- Travel accident insurance
- Rental car collision damage waiver (secondary coverage for rentals in the U.S.)
- Travel and emergency assistance services
- Roadside Dispatch®
- Cell phone insurance
Cardholders spend freely overseas because it has no foreign transaction fee .
With the announcement of this new card, Wells Fargo is adding the ability to access transfer partners to its no-annual-fee Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card (the new Autograph Journey will also give you access to transfer partners). The ability to transfer points is rare on a no-annual-fee card and instantly boosts this card's value.
Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card
Earn unlimited 3X points on restaurants, travel, gas stations, transit, popular streaming services and phone plans. Plus earn 1X points on other purchases
Welcome bonus

Right now, Wells Fargo has a smaller list of transfer partners, but more partners are expected to be added. The conversion ratio is 1:1 for all of the programs except for Choice Hotels, which is 1:2. Transfers to these programs go live on April 4, 2024:
- Aer Lingus AerClub
- Air France/KLM Flying Blue (partners with Delta)
- Avianca LifeMiles (partners with United)
- British Airways Executive Club (partners with American Airlines and Alaska Airlines)
- Iberia Plus (partners with American Airlines and Alaska Airlines)
- Choice Privileges
Wells Fargo told CNBC Select that with the addition of transfer partners, any Wells Fargo-branded consumer cardholders will be able to convert those rewards into transferrable points, if you have a Wells Fargo card that enables rewards transfers. This means you could earn 2% in cash rewards on every purchase with the no-annual-fee Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card and combine the cash rewards with a no-annual-fee Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Card , then transfer those points to partners (once transfers are live).
Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card
Unlimited 2% cash rewards on purchases
Earn a $200 cash rewards bonus after spending $500 in purchases in the first 3 months
0% intro APR for 15 months from account opening on purchases and qualifying balance transfers; balance transfers made within 120 days qualify for the intro rate
20.24%, 25.24%, or 29.99% Variable APR on purchases and balance transfers
3% intro for 120 days from account opening then BT fee of up to 5%, min: $5
Is the Autograph Journey right for you?
The Wells Fargo Autograph Journey℠ Visa® Card is aiming for the top travel credit cards with a competitive bonus and excellent rewards for popular travel purchases. And if you have any other consumer Wells Fargo-branded cards, getting the Autograph Journey instantly makes them more valuable. However, until Wells Fargo adds more transfer partners, this card's value is a tier below the top credit card travel programs , such as Chase Ultimate Rewards and American Express Membership Rewards .
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card doesn't earn as much for general travel spending and flights or hotels booked outside of the Chase Travel portal , but you can transfer Chase points to 14 partners, including valuable loyalty programs for World of Hyatt, Air Canada Aeroplan and United MileagePlus. The Sapphire Preferred also has more comprehensive travel protections including primary rental car coverage, trip delay reimbursement and baggage delay insurance.
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
Enjoy benefits such as 5x on travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards®, 3x on dining, select streaming services and online groceries, 2x on all other travel purchases, 1x on all other purchases, and $50 annual Ultimate Rewards Hotel Credit, plus more.
Earn 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. That's $750 when you redeem through Chase Ultimate Rewards®.

The Capital One Venture Rewards card, as mentioned earlier, is another travel card that charges a $95 annual fee (same as the Autograph Journey)(see rates and fees ). It earns fewer rewards than the Autograph Journey in some categories, but Capital One has a robust list of transfer partners (18 in total), including four of the same programs Wells Fargo partners with. The Venture Rewards can make your time at the airport a little more pleasant if you use its statement credit of up to $100 for a TSA PreCheck® or Global Entry application, valid every four years.
Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
5 Miles per dollar on hotel and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, 2X miles per dollar on every other purchase
Earn 75,000 bonus miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within 3 months from account opening
N/A for purchases and balance transfers
19.99% - 29.99% variable

Bottom line
The Wells Fargo Autograph℠ Journey Visa® Card is coming out of the gate strong and poised to compete with the top travel cards from other issuers. It has a reasonable annual fee , travel protections, a strong welcome bonus and an amazing return for all sorts of travel spending.

Credit Card Welcome Offer Reviews
Best for $1,000+ value in marriott points: marriott bonvoy brilliant® american express® card.
The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card is the best heavy hitter for Marriott enthusiasts. This metal credit card packs a real punch, with benefits as generous as its annual fee of $650 is hefty.
Right now, you can earn a whopper of a welcome bonus: 185,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points after you use your new card to make $6,000 in purchases within the first six months of card membership. This is worth 129500 by Business Insider's valuations.
Beyond the windfall of the welcome offer, Bonvoy Brilliant cardholders also enjoy up to $25 in eligible restaurant statement credits per month, generous travel benefits, including baggage insurance, rental car insurance, and a slew of other premium card benefits.

Best Beginner Travel Credit Card Bonus: Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
You can't go wrong with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card. Not only is this card our pick for best travel credit card , it's one of the best to start with if you're new to credit card rewards (or if you don't want to pay the whopping $550 annual fee on its premium sibling, the Chase Sapphire Reserve®).
The card currently offers a welcome bonus of 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. You can find out more about the card in our full Chase Sapphire Preferred card review .
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card comes with a 10% anniversary points bonus and up to $50 per year in statement credits for hotels booked through Chase. If you maximize this credit, you can shave off more than half of the card's annual fee.
The great thing about Chase Ultimate Rewards® points is their flexibility — redemption options include booking travel directly through the Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel Portal , transferring points to travel partners like United and Marriott, or cashing in rewards for statement credits, gift cards, and merchandise.
Best Pure Cash Back Bonus: Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express
If you like earning cash back and spend a lot on groceries and streaming services, the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express is tough to beat. It's now offering a $250 statement credit after you spend $3,000 in purchases on your new card within the first six months from account opening, and earns 6% back at U.S. supermarkets on up to $6,000 in spending per calendar year (then 1%).
You'll also earn 6% cash back on select U.S. streaming subscriptions; 3% cash back at U.S. gas stations and on transit (including taxis, rideshares, parking, tolls, trains, and buses); and 1% cash back on everything else. You'll receive cash back in the form of Reward Dollars, which can be redeemed as statement credits or at Amazon.com checkout). If you max out the $6,000 limit at U.S. supermarkets, you could earn $360 in cash back each year just from that category alone — that's more than enough to offset the annual fee of $0 intro for the first year, then $95.
Best Welcome Bonus for Earning Capital One Miles: Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card
The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card was launched last year, and it offers a massive welcome bonus of 75,000 bonus miles when you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening — worth at least 127500 in travel, based on Business Insider's valuation of Capital One miles .
The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card is packed with upscale benefits that can more than offset the $395 annual fee — which is lower than other premium travel cards ().
Cardholders receive $300 per year in credits through Capital One Travel purchases, Priority Pass, Plaza Premium, and Capital One airport lounge access (even for authorized users), a 10,000-mile bonus on each account anniversary (worth $100 in travel), access to the Capital One Premier Collection (a luxury hotel booking program), and Visa Infinite travel and purchase benefits.
Like other cards that earn Capital One miles , you can transfer rewards to over a dozen airline and hotel partners to book award travel.
Best Personal Amex Card Bonus: The Platinum Card® from American Express
The Platinum Card® from American Express is offering a solid welcome bonus: 80,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $8,000 on purchases on your new card in your first six months of card membership.
You can get hundreds of dollars in value from benefits such as up to $200 in Uber credits (including Uber Eats)** per year and up to $100 in annual Saks Fifth Avenue credits**. The The Platinum Card® from American Express also comes with excellent shopping and purchase benefits, including return protection, extended warranty, and targeted discounts and bonuses through Amex Offers **.
The Platinum Card® from American Express comes with valuable benefits, including up to $300 annually in Equinox credits**, $189 per year in credits for CLEAR® Plus membership**, up to $200 per year in credits toward eligible prepaid hotel bookings, up to $240 in annual credits toward eligible digital subscriptions**, a monthly credit for Walmart+ membership**, and up to $300 back for purchasing a SoulCycle At-Home Bike through Equinox+.
Travelers can take advantage of up to $200 in airline incidental fee credits** each calendar year, airport lounge access, complimentary hotel elite status with Hilton and Marriott**, travel insurance, and Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts . You can use the Amex Membership Rewards points you'll earn with the card to book flights, hotels, and more through American Express Travel, or transfer points to airline and hotel partners like Delta, British Airways, and Marriott.
The annual fee is $695. However, if you can put these new perks to use, you can get thousands of dollars worth of value from The Platinum Card® from American Express.
Best Mid-Tier Amex Card Bonus: American Express® Gold Card
The American Express® Gold Card is sometimes overlooked as the "kid brother" to its Platinum siblings, but it's actually one of our favorite rewards cards, especially for dining. You'll earn 4x points at restaurants up to $25,000 per year (then 1x) and up to $120 in annual dining credits** that you can use at select restaurants and on Grubhub and Seamless.
It also offers up to $120 Uber Cash ($10 per month credit) each calendar year (this is only applicable to U.S. Eats orders and Rides, and the Gold Card needs to be added to the Uber app to receive the Uber Cash benefit).
The card didn't always come with an attention-grabbing welcome bonus offer. But it's now increased its intro offer to 60,000 Membership Rewards® points after spending $6,000 on purchases on the card in the first six months of card membership. Considering you can transfer your Amex points to nearly two dozen travel partners, these points can unlock lots of options for flights or hotel stays
Best Welcome Bonus for Earning Citi ThankYou Points: Citi Premier® Card
The Citi Premier® Card is another card that doesn't always get the attention it deserves. It earns Citi ThankYou Rewards points that you can redeem for travel booked through the Citi Travel Portal , transfer to airline and hotel partners , or cash in for statement credits, gift cards, or merchandise.
In addition to offering a bonus of 60,000 bonus ThankYou® points after you spend $4,000 in purchases within the first three months of account opening, the Citi Premier® Card stands out for its wide range of bonus categories. Outside of the welcome bonus earning, cardholders earn 3 points per dollar at restaurants and supermarkets. This makes the card a great option for maximizing your everyday purchases — because everyone has to eat.
The Citi Premier® Card also comes with a hotel savings benefit that can offset its entire $95 annual fee. This perk will save you $100 once per calendar year when you book a hotel stay of $500 or more (excluding taxes and fees) through ThankYou.com. Here's our Citi Premier card review for all the details.
Best Credit Card Bonus for Booking Travel Through the Chase Travel Portal: Chase Sapphire Reserve®
The more premium sibling of the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, the Chase Sapphire Reserve® is offering a welcome bonus of 60,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
It also earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points, allows transfers to Chase airline and hotel partners, and offers the same variety of options for points redemption as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card.
The Chase Sapphire Reserve® has a $550 annual fee — substantially higher than the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card. However, if you can make use of the card's additional benefits — especially if you're traveling — the annual fee is certainly worth it.
Like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, the Chase Sapphire Reserve® got a refresh, with improved or new bonus categories and benefits like access to the new Chase Sapphire Lounges , which are open at Hong Kong Airport (HKG), Boston Airport (BOS), JFK and LaGuardia airports in New York.
Newer locations will continue to open at San Diego (SAN), Phoenix (PHX), Las Vegas (LAS), Philadelphia (PHL), and Washington Dulles (IAD).
Cardholders can also access Chase's Sapphire Terrace at the Austin airport (AUS), an indoor-outdoor space offering free drinks, grab-and-go bites, and Wi-Fi. Read our full review of the Chase Sapphire Reserve® here .
Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders receive up to $300 in statement credits toward travel purchases each cardholder year — effectively reducing the net annual cost to $250. Chase also recently added two complimentary years of Lyft Pink All Access membership; $5 per month in DoorDash in-app credits for cardholders through December 2024; and one year of free Instacart+ with up to $15 per month in statement credits on Instacart.com purchases (activation required by July 31, 2024). Here's our Chase Sapphire Reserve® credit card review .
Credit Card Signup Bonus Frequently Asked Questions
What is a sign-up bonus.
A sign-up bonus, also known as a welcome bonus or intro offer, is a reward of points, miles, or cash back for new cardholders who meet designated requirements. Usually, these requirements involve meeting a minimum spending threshold within the first few months after you open your new credit card account.
Do credit card sign-up bonuses change?
Yes, credit card sign-up bonuses change frequently. If you're considering opening a new rewards credit card, do your research to see whether the card you want has previously offered a higher bonus. If it has, it could be worth waiting until that elevated offer returns, or you may even be able to find that higher offer through the credit card issuer's website.
What is the best credit card sign-up bonus?
The best credit card sign-up bonus depends on the person. Even if one card offers more points, not all points and miles are valued equally. There are also different types of credit card rewards — points, miles, and cash back — so the best welcome bonus for you depends on the rewards you value most.
How can I use a credit card sign-up bonus?
Typically, you can use a credit card sign-up bonus in a variety of ways. If you earn a cash-back welcome bonus, you could be able to use it toward a statement credit to reduce your credit card bill, or you could receive the money in check form. With a travel rewards card, you could use your points or miles to book an award trip, or cash them out for gift cards, money back, or merchandise. The exact options depend on the credit card you have and its specific rewards program.
Is a credit card without a sign-up bonus still worth it?
Yes, a credit card without a sign-up bonus is still worth it. Intro offers can be a great incentive to apply, especially if you're looking at a card that has an annual fee, but not every good credit card offers an intro bonus. For example, the Wells Fargo Reflect® Card is one of the best balance transfer credit cards , but it doesn't offer a welcome bonus or earn rewards. It could be worth forgoing an intro bonus if that card's 0% intro APR for 21 months from account opening on purchases and qualifying balance transfers made within 120 days (then a 18.24%, 24.74%, or 29.99% variable APR) appeals to you.
Should I earn credit card rewards if I don't plan to travel yet?
Yes, you should earn credit card rewards even if you don't have upcoming travel planned. Earning a welcome bonus now can put you in a great position to use points and miles for your next vacation, whenever that may be. But before you apply for a new credit card , make sure you understand how credit card applications affect your credit score.
Why You Should Trust Us: How We Chose the Best Credit Card Welcome Offers
Business Insider looks carefully at the potential value of welcome bonuses and categorizes them according to which profile each will best serve. We also look at the ongoing benefits and earning rates of these cards, but our chief goal is to uncover the biggest, juiciest intro offers.
Our credit cards team is primarily concerned about one thing: that you open the right credit card for your lifestyle. There are lots of excellent credit cards out there (and just as many bad ones) — but even a credit card with an enormous value proposition isn't necessarily for you. Our job is to help you find the perfect product for your unique situation.
See our full methodology for how Business Insider rates credit cards .
Get more from your rewards with these transfer bonuses — including new offers from Amex
Editor's Note
If you truly want to maximize your points and miles, periodic transfer bonuses can offer lucrative opportunities for fantastic award redemptions . You can sometimes get significantly more value from your rewards by transferring them to a specific airline or hotel partner during one of these bonuses.
However, these are limited-time offers.
We've compiled the transfer bonuses for the major transferable rewards programs to make tracking these offers easier. Just note that transfer bonuses are sometimes targeted, so some may not be available to you.
American Express Membership Rewards
You can currently transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to Avianca LifeMiles with a 15% bonus. The promotion, which is being offered through LifeMiles , will run through March 15.
Since the offer is through LifeMiles, you'll only see the transfer bonus post after the transfer has been made. Membership Rewards points transfer to LifeMiles at a 1:1 ratio, so with this promo, you'd get 1,150 LifeMiles for every 1,000 Membership Rewards points transferred.
Cathay Pacific is also offering a 10% transfer bonus when you transfer Membership Rewards points or Citi ThankYou points to your Cathay Pacific Asia Miles membership account.
You must register for the promotion and make your transfer by March 31. Cathay Pacific's website notes that it could take up to 10 weeks after the promotion ends for the bonus to make it to your Asia Miles account.
Finally, Amex has a 20% transfer bonus running with Etihad Guest . Since Membership Rewards points typically transfer to Etihad Guest at a 1:1 ratio, utilizing this bonus would turn 1,000 points into 1,200 points. The offer runs through April 4.
How to earn American Express Membership Rewards points
You'll need Membership Rewards points to maximize Amex transfer bonuses. If you're looking to earn Membership Rewards points, the following Amex cards could be useful additions to your wallet:

Should you transfer points?
We only recommend transferring points if you have a short-term plan to use them. Many programs have implemented devaluations over the last few years, so any speculative transfers could be a losing proposition.
Transfers are irreversible, and you don't want to be stuck with thousands of points in a program you have little use for.
If you don't have a specific redemption in mind but still want to earn miles, you're likely better off earning rewards through credit card welcome bonuses and everyday spending.
Bottom line
When a transferable currency program offers a transfer bonus, running the numbers is important to see whether it is worthwhile.
Generally, you won't want to transfer your points without a specific redemption in mind. After all, a large part of the value of transferable points comes from their flexibility — which you'll give up the moment you convert them to a partner's currency.
However, if you use the program frequently or plan to redeem soon, a transfer bonus can help you get more value from your points.

Chase credit cards that enable point transfers
Chase airline transfer partners, chase hotel transfer partners, how to earn chase ultimate rewards® points, which chase sapphire transfer partners are the best, is transferring your chase ultimate rewards® points worth it.
Chase Ultimate Rewards® are some of the most valuable transferable points available. Points can be redeemed for travel through the Chase Ultimate Rewards® portal for 1.25 cents each if you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or 1.5 cents each if you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve® . However, people who own three 2024 Chase cards can potentially get far more value by shipping them off to one of Chase's transfer partners, where they get converted to even more valuable travel rewards currencies.
People with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card , the Chase Sapphire Reserve® or the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card , can transfer points on a 1:1 basis to about a dozen airline and hotel loyalty programs that partner with Chase. And assuming you hold (or someone in your household owns), one of those three Chase cards, you'll very likely unlock even greater value out of your spending rewards when you use one of the Chase Ultimate Rewards® transfer partners.
Here's a summary of each Chase transfer partner and how you can get the most from your Chase points.

Of the 14 Chase Ultimate Rewards® transfer partners, 11 are airline mileage programs, which are:
Air France-KLM Flying Blue
Flying Blue is the loyalty program of Air France, KLM, Kenya Airways and a few smaller airlines. Because many Flying Blue airlines are members of the SkyTeam alliance , you can transfer points from Chase to Flying Blue to book award flights on other SkyTeam member airlines, such as Delta Air Lines.
The Flying Blue program offers a monthly Promo Rewards promotion that discounts certain routes by up to 50% — which can make Flying Blue sweet spots even a better deal.

Aer Lingus AerClub
Aer Lingus AerClub became one of the Chase travel partners in 2017. While not officially part of the Oneworld alliance, Aer Lingus partners with several Oneworld airlines — most notably British Airways, Iberia and Qatar .
Use AerClub Avios to fly to Ireland for as few as 13,000 Avios each way in economy.
Or, connect elsewhere in Europe for as few as 17,000 Avios each way. Though, factor in elevated taxes and fees on awards when determining if it's best to transfer points from Chase versus booking a cash fare.
Air Canada Aeroplan
There are plenty of reasons not to overlook Aeroplan — the newest of the Chase Sapphire airline partners. Air Canada is a Star Alliance member, so you can use Aeroplan points to book award flights on any Star Alliance airline, including United.
Aeroplan sweet spots include flying from the U.S. West Coast to Hawaii on United for 12,500 points in economy or 25,000 points in business class. Travelers can fly from the U.S. East Coast to Europe from 60,000 points each way in business class. These and other valuable redemptions help boost the value of Aeroplan points to 1.4 cents for award tickets.

British Airways Executive Club
Most travelers might think of flights to London when thinking about British Airways. However, that's not where the value of British Airways Avios lies. In fact, most British Airways Avios sweet spots don't involve flying British Airways.
Instead, use this Chase transfer partner to book inexpensive awards on American Airlines, Alaska Airlines and other Oneworld partners — including flying to the Caribbean for just 7,000 Avios each way.
» Learn more: The complete guide to the British Airways Avios program
Emirates Skywards
Dubai-based Emirates Airlines is best known for its glitzy business- and first-class products. And while premium cabins command huge cash prices, paying with miles through the Emirates Skywards loyalty program is possible and considered the best use of miles (as opposed to using miles to book in the Emirates economy class ). A NerdWallet analysis found that you only get about 0.6 cent per mile in value for Emirates economy, but the value of Emirates miles jumps up if you redeem an award in Emirates business class.
Unfortunately, the Emirates Skywards sweet spots are limited — particularly on partner airlines. That said, the Skywards program is one of only a few ways to book Emirates first class with points since the airline restricts award availability through partner airlines.
» Learn more: The guide to Emirates Skywards
Iberia Plus
Just like British Airways, Iberia is a member of the Oneworld alliance and uses the Avios program. And after Iberia's recent overhaul to its award chart , award rates to book American Airlines flights match the British Airways Executive Club’s rates on partner airlines. However, other Iberia sweet spots include some incredible gems.
For example, fly to Europe for as few as 17,000 Avios each way in economy or book business class to Europe for as few as 34,000 Avios each way. That's one of the cheapest business class awards to Europe currently available.

JetBlue TrueBlue
JetBlue uses a revenue-based TrueBlue points program in which the required number of points for an award roughly equates to the cash price of the flight. That means you can't get outsized value from redeeming TrueBlue points.
However, just because the program doesn't have an upside doesn't mean JetBlue isn't a good Chase transfer partner. TrueBlue points are worth 1.5 cents per point — making it a valuable currency for economy flights among U.S. airlines.

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
Singapore Airlines is another Star Alliance Chase travel partner that can provide excellent premium cabin redemptions. Singapore KrisFlyer sweet spots include flights to Europe and Hawaii, and flights within the continental U.S. Luxury travelers also flock to KrisFlyer, as it's typically the only way to book the award-winning Singapore first class product with points.
» Learn more: The guide to Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer frequent flyer program
Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards
Like JetBlue, Southwest uses a revenue-based redemption program, where points prices correlate with cash prices. This means you don't have to seek out sweet spots to get good value from your Southwest Rapid Rewards points.
Instead, the value of Southwest Rapid Rewards is a predictable 1.5 cents per point when redeemed for Southwest flights. Steer clear of other Rapid Rewards redemptions for hotels, rental cars or merchandise though, as the redemption value can drop to 0.6 cents per point.
» Learn more: The complete guide to Southwest Rapid Rewards
United MileagePlus
United joins JetBlue and Southwest as the three U.S.-based Chase Sapphire airline partners. MileagePlus miles are worth around 1.2 cents per mile when redeemed for United economy flights .
In addition to redeeming miles on United, you can redeem United MileagePlus miles for award flights on other Star Alliance partners. Just keep in mind that United can charge more miles for partner awards.
» Learn more: The complete guide to United MileagePlus program
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
London-based Virgin Atlantic is a member of the SkyTeam alliance and it uses a different redemption chart for each partner, meaning the Flying Club sweet spots are just as diverse as its partners.
Sweet spots include nonstop Delta flights from 7,500 points each way, Delta business class to mainland Europe from 50,000 points each way and ANA business class from Hawaii to Japan for 35,000 points each way.

Chase has just three hotel loyalty program parters, which are:
IHG One Rewards
The IHG loyalty program is good, but it's generally a weak Chase transfer partner.
NerdWallet values IHG points at 0.8 cent each. But since Chase points transfer to IHG One Rewards at the same 1:1 transfer ratio as all other partners, that makes for a pretty bad transfer that can actually devalue your points. Unless you find a killer IHG redemption, only transfer points from Chase to IHG to top off your account if you're a few points shy of booking a hotel you want with the rest of your IHG points. Otherwise, you’re generally better off booking IHG hotels within the Chase Ultimate Rewards® portal.
» Learn more: What you need to know about IHG One Rewards
Marriott Bonvoy
Marriott Bonvoy is one of the largest hotel loyalty programs around. You can redeem Bonvoy points for free nights and room upgrades at over 7,000 properties across more than 30 brands.
However, bigger isn't always better. When NerdWallet analyzed the value of Marriott Bonvoy points , we found that points were worth around 0.8 cent each. That puts Marriott in the same category as IHG, where points often lose their value when you transfer them from Chase to Marriott Bonvoy.
Marriott just transitioned to a dynamically priced award program , so the value of Marriott Bonvoy points is still in flux.
Considering Chase points can be redeemed for 1.25 cents or 1.5 cents each (depending on which Sapphire card you have), make sure that you're getting at least this much value before transferring Chase points to Marriott Bonvoy — which is unlikely. With that, save Bonvoy transfers only for situations where you find an outstanding hotel deal, or if you need just a few more points to book using your existing Bonvoys.
» Learn more: The complete guide to the Marriott Bonvoy program
World Of Hyatt
World of Hyatt is undoubtedly Chase's most valuable hotel transfer partner — and perhaps its most valuable travel partner overall, too. In NerdWallet's analysis, World of Hyatt points are worth 2.3 cents each when used for award stays.
Hyatt is one of a few hotel loyalty programs that still publishes an award chart . That means predictability in planning how many points an award stay may cost. Award nights start at 3,500 points, meaning you can really stretch out your Chase points at Hyatt hotels.

The most common way to earn Chase Ultimate Rewards® points is through spending on a Chase credit card that participates in Chase Ultimate Rewards®. You might earn points through taking advantage of introductory offers — where you can get a windfall of points upon meeting a certain threshold within a window of time upon card approval — and via ongoing spending.
Just note that not all Chase credit cards earn transferable Ultimate Rewards points. That said, Chase cards that do earn transferable Ultimate Rewards points include:
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
Chase Sapphire Reserve®
Chase Freedom Flex℠
Chase Freedom Unlimited®
Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card
Ink Business Cash® Credit Card
Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card
Some of these cards offer bonus points in certain categories, so someone seeking to maximize their points earning might have multiple cards in their wallet to use depending on the transaction. To maximize points, you might use the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card to pay at restaurants (it earns 3 points per $1 spent on dining), the Chase Freedom Flex℠ to pay at drugstores (it earns 3% back at drugstores) and the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card to pay the monthly internet bill (it earns 5% back on internet, cable and phone services, up to a combined $25,000 in annual spending).
Even though the latter two cards don't let you transfer your rewards directly to any of the above airline or hotel partners, you can transfer them to another card that you hold (or that someone in your household holds), as long as that card is one of the cards that allows for transfers to partner airline and hotel brands.
The three Chase cards that allow for transfers to Chase's hotel and airline partners are the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card , the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card .
How do you transfer Chase points?
Use this guide to learn how to transfer Chase points between two credit cards you own. If you're transferring points from one household member to another (such as to a spouse), use this guide .
Once you've got all the points you need in one account, you're ready to then send them to the actual airline or hotel loyalty program you want to convert your Chase points into. Learn how to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards® points to travel partners here.
Chase may lag other transferable bank point currencies like American Express, Capital One and Citi when it comes to the raw number of transfer partners. However, Chase's transfer partners cover every airline alliance, a range of domestic and international airlines, and some major hotel loyalty programs. Particularly given its connection to Hyatt (which has what NerdWallet considers among the most valuable hotel rewards programs out there), that in turn makes Chase Ultimate Rewards® points among the most valuable transferable points available.
While you might find individually great redemptions while using Chase transfer partners for specific trips, there are — generally speaking — about a half-dozen Chase transfer partners that are most worthwhile. NerdWallet's power ranking of the six best Chase transfer partners (with No. 1 being the best) are:
World of Hyatt.
Air Canada Aeroplan.
Air France/KLM Flying Blue.
Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.
Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards.
JetBlue TrueBlue.
As far as Chase's airline transfer partners go, Air Canada Aeroplan comes out on top. Even still, you can easily get more than 1 cent per point in value from Chase points when you transfer points from Chase to fixed-value programs like Southwest Rapid Rewards and JetBlue TrueBlue.
Other airline transfer partners can be hit-and-miss, such as Emirates, which is generally a miss when points are transferred to book Emirates economy class . But, it's usually a massive hit if you can transfer Chase points to be used for booking the incredibly-swanky Emirates business class on points.
Here's a complete overview of Chase's current partners and their transfer ratios:
While you might book hotels and airfares with cash or through Chase’s travel portal called the Chase Ultimate Rewards® travel portal , it’s often a better deal to put in the extra effort and transfer your points to one of Chase’s transfer partners — especially those named above. That said, folks seeking to maximize value should always calculate the value of the Chase Ultimate Rewards® points relative to the price to pay for airfare or hotel rooms in cash.
Use NerdWallet’s Chase points calculator below to determine the value of your points, based on both the baseline and NerdWallet estimated values:
With a little bit of research, you can get even more value through other Chase Ultimate Rewards® transfer partners versus using them to book travel directly through the Chase travel portal.
