Cancellation Policies
We at Telluride Helitrax pride ourselves on our exceptional customer service and the Heliskiing experiences which we provide. In return we ask that our guests understand that we must make advanced financial and time commitments in order to provide these services. Helicopter skiing/riding is a shared risk experience. We put every effort into making sure all of the ingredients over which we have control of are in place to provide you with an exceptional ski experience. We ask that you understand that certain elements of the experience are beyond our control, including weather, snow conditions and skier ability levels on a particular trip.
Cancellations more than 30 days prior to your reservation date will be refunded, minus a administrative fee of 20% of the trip cost. Less than 30 days prior to your reservation, your entire deposit of 50% is non-refundable. Less than 7 days prior, full payment, including your deposit, is non-refundable. This policy is in effect whether or not we are able to operate on your cancelled dates. Guests absent, failing to complete a ski day, or who leave the field early for any reason, will be charged in full. In addition, those guest(s) may be charged for additional flight costs incurred to remove the guest(s) from the field and/or for shuttle fees to return the guest(s) to their respective accommodations. Excessively tardy guests cannot join the day and will be charged in full. Due to the costly advanced commitments that Telluride Helitrax must make to provide our services, we cannot provide any refunds even in cases of sudden illness, injury, canceled airline flights, family emergencies or any other disruptions to your schedule. To offset this risk we highly recommend obtaining Travel Guard or another brand of travel insurance.
TRAVEL AND MEDICAL INSURANCE
Travel and medical insurance are not included in this package. We strongly recommend that you purchase insurance to cover personal injury, cancellation, or interruption for your experience. You will need to separately purchase any trip interruption insurance through an outside provider. This must be done shortly after making your reservation (some require insurance to be purchased within 15-20 days of initial trip deposit).
We also recommend that you carry insurance to cover the risk of injury while you are at your destination. If you are injured, you will be charged the ambulance expenses associated with your evacuation as well as any expenses related to your medical care. Medical and evacuation insurance will help to cover these costs.

7 Captivating Colorado Helicopter Tours
August 3, 2022 By // by Bella Beckler
Colorado is famous for its beautiful mountains and stunning vistas, and the easiest and most thrilling way to see them is on one of the helicopter tours located around the state. Luckily, a number of companies throughout Colorado offer tours. While most offer routes within the mountains or the eastern section of the state, there’s likely an option no matter your location.
Most tours operate during the summer months and all helicopter rides are heavily weather-dependent. Book tours in the early morning for the best chance at good weather, and be flexible to avoid getting rained out or delayed.
Year-round Helicopter Tours
These sightseeing tours make for an adventure you’ll always remember. Soar high above the Rockies and some of the most scenic places in the state.
Royal Gorge / Colorado Vertical
Royal Gorge Helitours operates out of Cañon City and has been in operation since 1989. In 2011, Colorado Vertical Adventures took over operations, but tickets can still be booked either through Royal Gorge or through Colorado Vertical. All tours use a Robinson R66 helicopter, which seats 4 passengers in addition to a pilot.
The company features a number of different tours, the most budget-friendly of which is Bridge Run Adventure, a 5-minute ride that provides incredible views of the Royal Gorge Bridge. For a more extended adventure, consider the incredible Pikes Peak Experience. This stunning ride takes approximately 50 minutes and offers views of Pikes Peak, the Royal Gorge, and the Red Canyon.
Alpine Heli Tours
Departing from Animas Airpark in beautiful Durango, Alpine Heli Tours provides passengers with incredible views of the San Juan Mountains. There are a few different tours to choose from, but one of the most impressive is the Cascade Canyon Descent which winds along the Animas River through Cascade and Lime Canyons.
Visitors can see some of Durango’s most famous sections of whitewater and as an added bonus, much of the route follows the path of the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
Other options include the premier mountain tour, the mountain lake tour, and the budget-friendly Animas City tour. Most tours are scheduled in the mornings to avoid bad weather. All tours are private, and passengers are encouraged to bring along camera equipment and phones to document the trip.
Gateway Canyons Air Tours
Located west of the mountains near the Colorado-Utah border, Gateway Canyons Air Tours is a unique touring company with a number of incredible flight paths to choose from. The most simple tour is the Castle Valley Scenic, which features 30 minutes of flight time spent above the red rock canyons near Gateway , Colorado.
For more adventure, consider the Arches Fly n’ Ride. This bucket-list experience includes a flight to the Canyonlands Airport near Moab, a guided tour of Arches National Park on the ground, and a return flight to Colorado. Flight time is approximately 1 hour. All tours use the impressive Eurocopter AStar B3 which has air conditioning, leather seats, and noise-canceling headsets.
Macdonald Heli Tours
A smaller company operating out of Loveland , Macdonald Heli Tours offers helicopter rides in scenic northern Colorado. One of the popular tours visits Horsetooth Reservoir, Devil’s Backbone Open Space, and Carter Lake. The ride lasts 45 minutes, and tours depart from the Fort Collins-Loveland Jet Center.
A maximum of three passengers are permitted on one tour, and the maximum weight for the party is 500 pounds. Reservations are required. Children of any age are permitted, but anyone two and older must have their own seat.
Zephyr Helicopter Company
Also in Northern Colorado, Zephyr Helicopter Company operates out of Steamboat Springs . The typical tour lasts one hour and includes a detailed look at historic Steamboat Springs, the ski area, and the beautiful wilderness surrounding it. For visitors with specific wishes, the company can arrange custom tours.
Zephyr Helicopter Company flies a Bell 206L-3, which can accommodate 5 passengers and a pilot. Children are allowed, but they must be at least two years old and under adult supervision. Be sure to bring your camera!
Winter Heli-Skiing
When winter comes and the snow begins to pile up, pair a helicopter tour with some of Colorado’s world-class skiing by trying out heli-skiing. This adventurous activity combines stunning views with fantastic backcountry skiing.
Telluride Helitrax
Located next to Telluride Ski Resort, Telluride Helitrax is a family-owned heli-skiing business that provides access to over 200 square miles of beautiful Colorado wilderness. Flying in the Eurocopter AS350 B3e, passengers can expect fantastic views and a unique way to drop in on some world-class slopes.
With so much ski-able land to choose from, Helitrax offers hundreds of helicopter drop points. Most runs are approximately equivalent to double blue or single black, but expert routes are also available for advanced passengers.
For a taste of what heli-skiing can offer, consider taking a ride on one of the 15-minute Telluride Scenic Tours that occur each afternoon during the winter months, depending on the weather of course. The helicopter can hold up to five passengers, and the cost is per ride, independent of the number of passengers.
Silverton Mountain
With heli-skiing available 7 days a week during the winter months, Silverton Mountain is one of the premier places for helicopter-accessed skiing in Colorado. The most popular package is the 6 Run Heli Day, which includes 6 drops across 29,000 rugged acres. For large parties or those looking for a more individual experience, consider booking a private helicopter for the day.
Heli-skiing is an expensive activity, but Silverton Mountain makes it manageable by providing single runs for a much smaller fee. Additionally, visitors staying in Telluride can book the High Flyer Package for helicopter transport between Telluride and Silverton.
Most reservations can be made online, but calling to book or for more information is also an option. That’s a wrap on some of Colorado’s most popular companies offering helicopter tours and heli-skiing. Enjoy the view!

Vail has become synonymous with skiing not only in America, but around the world, and for good reason — this little Alpine town is home to some of the best quality snow in the country, an array of luxurious five-star resorts and an extensive lift system covering the resorts.
Like many other places in Colorado, snow density is as light as it gets. The Back Bowls of the mountains span nearly 3,000 acres while falling off the backside into some of the most gorgeous scenery in the area, ideal for midwinter powder skiing.
Cross country skiing is popular here and it’s a great way to take in the fresh mountain air and breathtaking sites. Many of the resorts offer dining options and other activities to keep you satisfied, but if you’re not that interested in skiing, there’s plenty of other things to do around town .
Despite it’s stature as a small Rocky Mountain town, the culinary scene here is diverse and exciting, with dining options that rival some of the most vibrant cities around. Lionshead and Vail Village offer a wide variety of shops including boutiques, outdoor equipment and art galleries.
The pedestrian-friendly streets are perfect for taking a stroll while you enjoy the backdrop of Gore Range and Vail Mountain, and with so many bars and clubs within walking distance, your nightlife options are just as plentiful. Vail is home to warm summers and cold winters thanks to its elevation — depending on which classification you’re using, it can be either an alpine or subarctic climate.
The town sees an average of 200 inches of snowfall per season and even more in the surrounding mountains, with low temperatures rarely rise above freezing point from late September to late May. Roads sometimes close during heavy snowfall in the winter months.
Summer temperatures can reach the 80s, but usually hang around in the mid to high 70s. Combine the mountain breezes with beautiful views of the Rocky’s, and summertime in Vail can be considered absolutely sublime.
You already know to leave room in the jet for your ski equipment, but did you think to bring your golf clubs? If you’re heading to Vail during the summer months, make sure to schedule a tee-time at one of the area’s golf courses.
The rocky refreshing rocky mountain air along with a warm, breezy climate create an incredible atmosphere for a day on the links. Check out some of our top course choices in the area.

Private Airports for Vail Jet Charters
Air Charter Advisors utilizes the following airports to fly clients privately to/from Vail, Colorado and neighboring areas of the Centennial State.
Runway Length: 9,000 feet FBO: Vail Valley Jet Center https://www.flyvail.com/
Start your ski trip with a luxury private flight to Eagle County Regional Airport (IATA: EGE, ICAO: KEGE, FAA LID: EGE) , also known as the Vail/Eagle Airport .
Due to the airport’s larger runway accommodating larger aircraft, (EGE) Eagle County Regional experiences a seasonal traffic spike in the Winter months as people flock to the resorts in Vail, Beaver Creek, Copper Mountain, Keystone, and Breckenridge — it becomes Colorado’s second busiest airport during ski season as many visitors use Eagle County as an alternative to Denver International.
EGE’s terminal features a single concourse with five gates, and customs facilities for private aircraft are located at the Vail Valley Jet Center. In 2009, runway repaving and extension project was completed, increasing the runway length to 9,000 feet which allows long-range jets, heavy jets and airliners to utilize the airfield.
Longest Runway: 6,400 feet FBO: Leadville–Lake County Airport http://www.klxvairport.com/
Clients can also choose to arrive/depart at Lake County Airport (IATA: LXV, ICAO: KLXV, FAA LID: LXV) , a county-owned public-use airport also known as Leadville Airport . LVX is located two nautical miles southwest of the central business district of Leadville in Lake County, Colorado
At an elevation of 9,927 ft (3,026 m) above sea level, Leadville holds the distinction of being North America’s highest elevation airport — pilots even receive a commemorative certificate upon successful landing. It’s also home to RAVCO, the highest helicopter flight training school in the world, and many operations focus on high-altitude testing.
(KLXV) Leadville | Lake County Airport is located about 46 miles to the south of Vail, and quick helicopter transfer can be arranged using LXV’s 150 x 46 meter H1 concrete helipad; for private jets, turbo-props and piston aircraft, runway 16/34 measures 6,400 feet and Leadville–Lake County Airport offers FBO services for private fliers.
Landing Pad: 100 x 100 ft (turf)
After arriving at either EGE or LXV, we can arrange for a private helicopter charter to bring you to Vail Junction Heliport (FAA LID: CD74) , the only aircraft facility in town.
Lake County offers a massive dedicated helipad, and Eagle County offers helicopter transfers in as little as 15 minutes. From here, you can also venture out to other resorts using helipads in Breckenridge (CO75), Beaver Creek (4CO9), Telluride (O72), Aspen (78CO & CO03).
