We Just Dined at the Most Expensive Celebrity Cruises Restaurant

Le Voyage on Celebrity Beyond is the most expensive specialty restaurant in the Celebrity Cruises fleet; is it worth the extra cost?

Le Voyage Celebrity Beyond

Share this post:

Celebrity Beyond is home to four complimentary main dining rooms. While these venues offer an array of menu options, the ship is also home to several specialty restaurants. These up-charge restaurants promise more expertly prepared cuisine and personalized service. So, on our last Celebrity Beyond cruise , we decided to break the bank and try the most expensive restaurant on the ship, Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud. Did it live up to its hefty price tag? Well, we are back with our detailed review of Le Voyage on Celebrity Beyond.

Dining at Le Voyage on Celebrity Beyond

Nestled mid-ship on deck 4, the façade of the restaurant is simple yet elegant. This inviting entrance offers the first hints of what separates this venue from other restaurants on Celebrity Beyond .  Unlike other specialty restaurants nearby, like the Fine Cut Steakhouse or Le Grand Bistro , Le Voyage is closed off from the music and crowds of the Grand Plaza.

Once the sliding door closes, diners are immersed in an upscale and intimate dining experience. Once inside, one quickly forgets that there are 3,000 other guests also sailing on Celebrity Beyond. With many cozy nooks, guests can settle into a quiet table set aside just for their dining party.

le voyage restaurant celebrity beyond

Interior decor features shades of red and pink which blend with the crystal and beadwork adorning the restaurant. It certainly feels exclusive and reserved. With only 50 seats in the entire restaurant, it is the most sought-after dining reservation on the ship.

Luckily, we reserved months in advance so we could dine here on one of the two evening chic nights during our cruise.

Dining At Le Voyage

Le Voyage is the brainchild of chef Daniel Boulud. This award-winning French chef mixes cooking styles from around the world, adding his unique French flair. Thus, the menu is peppered with selections from North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.

Once seated, it didn’t take long for our server to stop by the table and introduce himself.

Reviewing the menu, our waiter asked about dietary restrictions and allergies. I advised him of my scallop allergy because Le Voyage is a seafood-heavy restaurant. But, knowing what I would order beforehand, he assured me the options would be perfectly fine.

Le Voyage on Celebrity Beyond

Dinner begins with a complimentary welcome glass of champagne and an amuse-bouche to prime the appetite.

With our server’s approval, I opted for two starters. The Tuna Crudo Riviera was light with sushi-grade tuna and just the right hint of spice. However, my favorite appetizer was the Tamarind and Peanut Crusted Prawns. These pan-seared crispy shrimp came topped with a light, tangy sauce that was just spicy enough to give the appetizer some dimension.

le voyage restaurant celebrity beyond

Further, Heidi’s Vidalia onion tart was certainly distinct from a main dining room version of this classic starter.

For dinner, Heidi went with the Poulet aux Morilles. This sliced chicken dish was served with a lush gravy, asparagus, and mushrooms. She gave the dish her approval.

le voyage restaurant celebrity beyond

A true standout at Le Voyage was my entree, Risotto au Homard. It featured chunks of lobster claw and tail meat, accompanied by a light tomato sauce and zucchini. Each bite just melted in my mouth. The flavor was not overpowering, with al dente risotto and just the right of amount of sauce.

When it comes to picking desserts, it is always a test of which of us will select the best option. Again, my selection of the Café Cardamom was the clear winner (in my opinion).

This heavenly chocolate dessert was smooth and rich, and big enough to share. So, I didn’t feel too bad offering Heidi a spoonful. Though, her raspberry and lime pavlova was a decent dessert contender.

le voyage restaurant celebrity beyond

If you aren’t already full enough, the restaurant delivers even more sweet treats including a small tray of candies and madeleines that are irresistible.

Was It Worth it?

With the cover charge and gratuity, our dinner clocked in at $180 for the two of us. This $90 per person charge was the most we have ever paid for a specialty dinner. In fact, it is the most expensive specialty restaurant in the Celebrity Cruises’ fleet .

However, combining global flavors with a modern twist, Le Voyage delivered one of the finest meals we have had at sea or on land. Our dishes’ rich, savory flavors paired well with the cocktails and glasses of wine we ordered as part of the Celebrity Cruises’ Premium Drink package .

Celebrity Beyond Cruise Ship Scorecard Review

The personalized service and intimate setting made this formal night dinner even more special. The dining experience took around two hours. Yet, the pacing between courses never felt delayed.

The menu is rather seafood-centric, so it might not be a good option for some cruisers. Meat lovers might want to head over the Fine Cut Steakhouse instead.

In conclusion, cruisers with a broad palette, or those looking to try something a bit different, will appreciate this fine dining experience. Despite the price, we would certainly dine at Le Voyage again in the future.

All The Details of Le Voyage on Celebrity Beyond

Le Voyage is open nightly for dinner from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and the restaurant requires reservations. We strongly recommend booking pre-cruise, as it fills up quickly due to the limited capacity.

The restaurant offers an a la carte menu for $75 that includes one starter, entrée, and dessert. Although, you can probably persuade the servers to bring an extra appetizer or dessert to the table to sample. Extra entrees do have a surcharge.

Le Voyage Celebrity Beyond

Or, cruisers can opt for a decadent 5-course tasting menu for $125. To complete this expertly crafted experience, guests can even opt for a wine pairing at an additional $100. All charges are subject to a 20% service charge.

Celebrity Beyond is currently the only ship in the fleet boasting this exclusive dining experience. But, that won’t last for long. The newest ship in the fleet, Celebrity Ascent, is debuting soon with its own version of this epicurean delight.

I liked it better.  We did the dinner menu not the tasting menu and loved every dish, service was excellent.  For us they would rank 1. Le Voyage, 2 Fine Cut 3. Eden

Best meal/service we had on Beyond. I have it booked twice on my next Beyond cruise.

did you do the pairing with the wine? I just booked it but now wondering since we have a drink package..

We didn’t do the pairing because we had the premium drink package.  The sommelier recommended wines to go with each course and they were all the excellent.

Did not do the wine pairing, however I did have the drink pkg and had a couple glasses of Decoy Merlot.

Great restaurant on Beyond. Can't go wrong. We do a tasting menu and a la carte with one of their great bottles of champagne each time. Very special evenings.

For an upcoming 11-night cruise, we have Le Voyage booked three nights, then Eden for three nights (I believe 2nd best restaurant), Raw on 5 for three nights (IMO, 3rd best restaurant as their seafood tower plus a few sides that my S.O. and I like make for a great, slow dining event), then LPC booked for two nights (not so much for the show, but my S.O. loves the food).

We tried Fine Cut once on prior cruise. Not to our liking, when compared to steakhouses in Dallas, San Francisco, or Chicago.

Though we are in the Retreat and our stateroom includes the unlimited dining, we feel the specialties are much better than Luminae.

We have same premium package, so perhaps I wont do the pairing

We loved Le Voyage.  😋

I cruised aboard the Celebrity Beyond in February 2023 and greatly enjoyed my dinner at Le Voyage. This is a small and attractive venue with outstanding food and service. In fact, I have booked dinner at Le Voyage for my cruise on the Celebrity Ascent for February 2024. I also really like Eden.

dreamer321

I ate in Eden on night 1 and 3 on my Beyond cruise in January. I also ate at Le Voyage on night 5. I enjoyed the food and service much more in Eden. I enjoyed Eden so much I ended up booking Eden for night 7 as well.

I wasn't feeling the greatest the night I went to Le Voyage so that my have clouded my opinion of it. It's worth a try at least once if the menu looks appealing to you.  The service is very formal in Le Voyage, much more so than in Eden. The food was good but Eden just matched my palate much better.

I was so excited to try Le Voyage.  It was good not great.  My husband and I couldn’t decide if we wanted to do the tasting menu.  So we did regular.  Food was ok.  Not super good.  No windows and no view.  Rather dark.  Eden was nice.  We sat and saw the wake at the back of the ship.

I have an upcoming Transatlantic cruise on Ascent. I've already booked Eden for five nights, Le Voyage no nights so my $$ show where I think I'll enjoy the food most.  I hope the new ship meets or exceeds the high standards I received in Beyond.

I agree that Le Voyage felt cave-like with no windows or views and dim lighting.

We did a B3B on Beyond in February and went to Le Voyage 5 times……We loved it and gave it a slight edge, food and service wise, over Eden. (Eden does have a spectacular view) Food and service was great and it is a very intimate dining experience in a very small venue, that they only half full at a time because kitchen is small we were told.

thks everybody! I booked it! Took the tasting with wine pairing but wonder if that was a mistake since we hav the premium package, or is the selection of wines are really nice and worth it, if anybody knows..

I did the wine pairing.  They went through the list and said, "we have this wine but not this other wine, so we'll substitute".  I think out of 7 courses (?) they substituted 3-4 wines.

I thought the food and wine was good.  I wish the ambience was better.  On Beyond you're in a large windowless rather dark room.

I'm sailing on Beyond in August and can't see where to make reservations for Le Voyage on the app. Does this mean it is sold out? As a retreat guest, should I be able to make a reservation via the concierge upon boarding or are we screwed and need to stalk the app looking for cancellations?

I am likewise in the Retreat on the Beyond in August and the shoreside team reached out to me for all requests, dining among them.

The shoreside team has been quite responsive.

I should think as a Retreat guest that you would receive communication, as well. Perhaps verify that your email/telephone number details are accurate?

This forum has a good amount of experience with Celebrity. You are likely to hear other helpful responses.

Peace to you.

If you sailing next month I think you may be too late . Le Voyage sells out very early (unless you are in a top suite and then anything is possible ) . Check on board for cancellations

I would call the Retreat desk before, which I think is 1-877-RETREAT or talk to your butler on boarding the ship.

Agree, for me Le Voyage was a one and done.

I also preferred the ambiance in Eden and Fine Cut.

Celebrity Cruises’ Edge-class ships are extremely similar in most ways. First came the class’ namesake ship Celebrity Edge , then Celebrity Apex and Celebrity Beyond. The cruise line amped up its game a bit with Beyond, including a brand-new specialty restaurant: Le Voyage by acclaimed chef and Celebrity’s Culinary Ambassador Daniel Boulud. The intimate, upscale venue features warm lighting, soft tones, and a globally-inspired menu.

For a three-course meal at Le Voyage — one appetizer, one entrée, and one dessert — it costs $75 per person.

Restaurant Le Voyage (Celebrity Beyond)

Top : Le Voyage Restaurant (Celebrity Beyond)

With the beginning of its newest ship, the Beyond, Celebrity Cruises is adding a specialty restaurant to its already extensive offering on board Edge Class ships. This is a French restaurant on the theme of travel: its creator, the Michelin-starred Chef Daniel Boulud, has designed a menu made up of dishes inspired by his many travels around the world.

le voyage restaurant celebrity beyond

At the crossroads of a gourmet restaurant and a “fooding” trend, this restaurant offers 3 ways to discover the dishes:

The first is the most classic: à la carte. From a wide selection, you have to choose a starter, a main course and a dessert. To this will be added an amuse-bouche as well as sweets. The price is then $75 per person.

You can also let yourself be carried away by a 5-course menu, with an alternative at each stage. In this case, the meal is $125 per person.

Finally, it is possible to register for the “Chef’s Table” dinner, which will take place one evening of the cruise in a specific room inside the restaurant. Animated and commented by a Chef as the dishes are served, the meal is also a 5-course menu with a few more surprises. And it will be $139 per person. The wine pairing is in addition, at $60.

On the menu, à la carte, the dishes I was able to taste were all excellent, clearly marked by their origin, such as a Tunisian beef tartare or prawns with tamarind and peanuts… just like the lobster risotto, very generous.

le voyage restaurant celebrity beyond

I decided to try the Chef’s Table as well. It’s actually the equivalent of the 5-course menu, with the participation of the Chef in charge of the restaurant who, in addition to a few dishes borrowed from the standard menu of the restaurant, allows himself to bring a personal touch (during my dinner, an Italian-inspired dish in addition to what was on the menu).

le voyage restaurant celebrity beyond

Again, everything was very good. Undoubtedly one of the best “Chef’s Table” that I have tried, if not the best. The only downside I will bring is that the menu is largely modeled on the restaurant menu, which differs from the other Chef’s Tables that I had been able to test on other companies, since these meals were then completely independent from any restaurant on board.

The service is worthy of a great restaurant and everyone takes great care of the guests. And at least some servers spoke French, which is generally not the case in so-called “French” restaurants on most companies.

It should be noted that to the various prices announced (rates for the month of June 2022), the service (18%) and the tax (in the Mediterranean, for cruises departing from Spain in any case), of 10% must be added. Pay attention to the addition, then!

Le Voyage: A Culinary Discovery on Celebrity Beyond

le voyage restaurant celebrity beyond

Star Trek meets Morocco as you enter the fascinating Le Voyage , an exclusive restaurant on Celebrity Beyond. The restaurant’s angular doors that automatically open are so seamlessly hidden in the ship’s Grand Plaza that you have to know they’re there and just walk toward the wall until they open.

From the moment you step inside the restaurant inspired by master chef Daniel Boulud , the experience is a treat for all the senses. The ambiance of the restaurant comes from Parisian architect and design team of Sanjit Manku and Patrick Jouin , who were inspired to create its Moroccan-tent theme from their previous work designing the bars and restaurants of the hotel La Mamounia in Marrakech. They’re also behind the design of the three-level Grand Plaza on Celebrity Beyond, with its dramatic multi-toned chandelier.

le voyage restaurant celebrity beyond

We’re escorted into the round room whose curving net-like dividers are studded with quartz crystals that add sparkle to the golden candle-lit scene. There’s an adjacent private dining room that seats up to eight for special occasions.

We start with a complimentary glass of the always welcome Veuve Cliquot Champagne and peruse the menu that offers eight appetizers and eight entrees inspired by Michelin-starred New York restaurateur Daniel Boulud. As Celebrity Cruises’ Culinary Ambassador, the chef previously created dishes for venues on sister ships Celebrity Edge and Celebrity Apex , but Le Voyage on Beyond is his first full restaurant at sea.

le voyage restaurant celebrity beyond

The amuse bouche that arrives with the wine menu is a showpiece: salmon tartare topped in an ultra-thin pastry cone topped with salmon roe. How the salmon can be so densely packed into such a delicate shell is a mystery the chef keeps to himself.

Breads arrive and they’re wonderful. The mini brioche and multi-grain bread are still warm from the oven. We opted to have another glass of  Veuve and having a premium drinks package, the Champagne that’s normally $20 a glass only required a $6 additional charge.

le voyage restaurant celebrity beyond

Nuanced is a good way to describe the Alaskan king crab salad I ordered as an appetizer, built with discs of avocado, radish, mango and a well-balanced ginger-lime vinaigrette. Every bite is a new mingling of flavors. Other appetizers range from Riviera-style tuna with crudités and black olives to a Tunisian-style beef tartare.

My entrée, Loup de Mer au Za’atar is presented over an intriguing fennel confit framed by broccolini. The rich white fish (aka branzino) is broiled with the north African herbal spice blend za’atar along with a hint of orange rind to give a final top note. Every bite was a delight.

My wife ordered the lamb chops a la Grecque and they’re like nothing we’ve encountered in Greece. The chops have been  marinated then aged for five days, which makes them extremely tender and they’re accompanied by sweet and sour eggplant and topped with pistachio pepper pesto. It’s inventively done and delicious.

Black Forest with a difference

For dessert, the black forest is like none you’ve ever had before. It’s a rich chocolate mousse with brandied cherries studded with dark chocolate feathers that soar high into the air. It’s decorative as hell and scrumptious besides. And to top this all of there are chocolate truffles, raspberry gelées and a basket of fresh from the oven madeleines dusted with confection sugar. You can ask to take them back to your room to enjoy later if you’ve indulged too much already.

Yes, a cover charge of $75 a guest for Le Voyage is among the highest for a specialty restaurant on any ship, but the experience of a dinner here early in our cruise was such a revelation that my wife and I decided to make a reservation for a second visit even before we’d finished dessert.

On that second encounter, we were tempted to order the tasting menu, at $125 a person, which gives you choices of five courses. As tantalizing as that was, that’s a lot of food in one meal. If you purchase the tasting menu, there’s also the option of a wine paired with each dish, for an additional $100.

We stuck with an appetizer, entrée and dessert option. This time, I chose a lobster risotto that was a wonder of delicate spicing with rice that had just the right al dente firmness. My wife had been dreaming of having a second experience with the lamb chops and again, they were dreamy.

My dessert this time was a vegan berry Pavlova, whose  multiple layers and lavish construction including flecks of gold leaf was almost too beautiful to eat. ..but it quickly disappeared once I had a sample taste.

le voyage restaurant celebrity beyond

We paired that meal with a bottle of wine from an extensive volume of old and new world vintages that are not included in the wine-by-the-glass options that come with Celebrity’s wine package. While you get a 20 per cent discount on the price of the specialty wines by the bottle if you have the premium wine package, by the time the service charge and tax are added, the final bill comes out to about the same as the menu price.

My only real quibble with Le Voyage was that the oh-so personable and eager to please multitude of staff could sometimes seem a bit too eager and their explanations of the menu often seemed scripted. There were so many waiters, assistants ,sommeliers and and maitre d’s tending our table that it seemed there was someone every couple of minutes coming by asking “How do you like it? Can we get you anything else?”

The service on our first visit also felt a bit rushed, so we let them know on the second visit we weren’t in a hurry to head to one of the evening shows and it was more relaxed.

If Le Voyage restaurant was on land, I’d make it a regular haunt for celebrations. But you don’t need a special occasion to experience this on Celebrity Beyond. It’s its own occasion that has to be experienced to be truly appreciated.

Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud

World renowned chef Daniel Boulud, our Global Culinary Ambassador, has created his first signature restaurant at sea—Le Voyage SM  by Daniel Boulud. Just as the name implies, travel is the inspiration for Chef Boulud’s tasty dishes. The global flavors he has infused into his menu are designed to give you a taste of the places that inspire him. To accompany the culinary experience is the most awarded wine collection at sea.

From the moment you step inside Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud, your experience will be so much more than a meal. The ambiance of the restaurant is the result of Jouin Manku’s Parisian creative talents—the duo architect-designer, Sanjit Manku and Patrick Jouin, responsible for the bars and restaurants of La Mamounia Marrakech as well as our own extraordinary Grand Plaza on all our Edge® Series ships. This imaginative duo draws inspiration from a multitude of cultures and merge cutting-edge technology with old-world craftsmanship. For Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud, the aesthetic is intimate and upscale, featuring soft tones, private banquette seating, and a stunning entryway.

Plus spacieux. Plus luxueux. Plus connecté. Celebrity Beyond℠

Stovalaya 57 GUM Moscow exterior

Bosco Cafe GUM Moscow - Exterior
