Anyplace you can go where you feel safe, yet, in possible danger from getting eatn from alligators and/or crocodiles (I heard they're in the Everglades- Crocs), then, ITS A GOOD TIME! Don't jump, swim or anything in the water. If you listen to the person running these airboats then you should be fine. Otherwise, you're stupid and shouldn't be anywhere near danger This place was great! Have fun!!

32 years in business and not a single customer eaten. Glad you had a good time.
If you're looking to really experience nature, travel with a real expert and come back with your thirst for knowledge satisfied, this is the tour for you! We did 1-hour River of Grass airboat trip to look for alligators in the wild, hiking, eat lunch and 1-hour Ten Thousand Islands boat ride. Everyone was so helpful and friendly - especially Heidi who took excellent care of my family ! We had an amazing day learning lots of things and we are truly grateful to her! Highly recommended! Everglades the highlight of our trip to Florida. We could not have been happier, all our expectations were met.

I surprised my husband with this incredible safari experience for his birthday, not really knowing what to expect. I'll admit, I had some reservations, but let me assure you, it was far from a disappointment! From the moment we met Heide until we reluctantly said our goodbyes, it was an absolute dream of a day. The timing of everything was perfect, creating a seamless and enjoyable journey. Heide's knowledge was seriously impressive - she had the scoop on everything from Florida's captivating history to the diverse array of plants we encountered. Her expertise added a whole new layer of appreciation to the adventure. We were both absolutely blown away by the variety of tours we embarked on - each one bringing a unique and exciting perspective to the local scene. But you know what? Some of the most unforgettable moments were the times we spent on the bus. Heide's engaging narratives and insights about Florida's past and present truly enriched the experience. I have to say, hands down, this was the highlight of our time in Florida. We're already making plans to return with our friends and family - we can't wait to share this incredible experience with them. Rest assured, we'll be enthusiastically recommending your safari tour to everyone in our circle and beyond! If you're looking for an unforgettable adventure that beautifully showcases Florida's charm, look no further. This safari tour is an absolute gem. A huge thank you to Heide and the entire team for making my husband's birthday so special and giving us memories we'll cherish forever. This is definitely a 5-star experience!

That's such fantastic feedback. I know everyone is in good hands when they are with Heidi and I'm happy she was able to deliver as usual for both of you. The everglades is an experience like no other but it really makes a difference having an amazing guide and I appreciate your recognition of her efforts.
I had Pete as a guide and he was fantastic! Incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife we saw on our hike (plants and animals) and very sociable as well. When we headed over to the airboat location, we were able to interact with some snakes and gators, which was really cool. A classic Florida experience. Both Pete and our airboat captain had a keen eye for spotting gators, birds, and turtles during the ride. Thanks for an amazing day!

Thank you for the very nice review. I'm glad you enjoyed the tour and appreciated everything we had to offer.
Such an amazing day with my daughter We saw 50 gators 29 different bird species and so so much more Two wonderful boat rides and a fabulous lunch inbetween Our guide Zach was so much fun I highly recommend him Our group was together for an entire day and his enthusiasm and knowledge of the land was incredible Again I would recommend this company!! And see another tour in my fu
the staff was friendly and very knowledgeable about the wildlife! rhett, our guide, was very friendly and engaging on our walk tour and i learned so much about the environment and different species in the area. i would definitely refer others here; what a great use of the day! definitely the highlight of my trip.

We appreciate you taking the time to give us feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your tour with Rhett. He's an excellent biologist and guide.
Overall this was a good tour and a full day led by a knowledgeable Florida native. Liked the walk through bald cypress park. A couple of comments though for those unfamiliar with Florida. Air boats do not provide an eco experience. There more like big tractors running through the wild, disturbing all the vegetation and wildlife with range of their loud, intrusive path. You might get headphones that deaden the sound some but wildlife don't have the same benefits. Seemed like the driver was chasing down the alligators for the riders viewing. If you really want an eco tour look for other experiences.

Hi Les and thank you for your comments. All airboats use automobile engines and an airplane propeller. While we would welcome a quiet airplane propeller, it simply hasn't been invented yet. Our airboats are muffled to reduce the noise and the captains do everything in their power to avoid disturbing wildlife. The lake has over 3000 alligators, making it difficult to avoid them all. That aside, this is a nature tour so our goal is to see wildlife in the least obtrusive manner as possible. I wish that you had enjoyed that portion of the day. We do the best that we can.
This tour started great. Was fun filled, and the guide was energetic, informed and offered information on a variety of subjects. The nature walk was made better by her knowledge base of the plants, animals, and history. Air boat ride took us literally through the plant life, and we saw alligators nesting and in the water. Operator was informed and made us feel welcome. Lunch was provided at the oyster house restaurant and was excellent. Thumbs up and then some. Don't miss this day in aw Florida
I cannot add much from what Tom P. and Dive H had to say. Our guide was Doug and he too was a walking encyclopedia of the area. The nature walk was flat and not too fast which was great for me and my bad knees. I was so glad that Doug informed us about the various plants and which to be sure not to touch. (Just don't touch any of them!) We saw quite a few gators, lots of birds and a couple snakes. The bugs weren't too bad but I wouldn't go in without bug spray on --which Doug had in his van for our use. The boat rides were also great and generous time-wise. The lunch place was interesting and most people liked their food just fine. We're not too fond of fried everything but it was ok. The bus ride did get uncomfortable especially the final trip back to Ft Myers. My companion and I were tightly packed on the middle seat for two. The fifth rating star would have been for a more comfortable bus ride, and some advance information on tipping (very awkward, we felt). ALSO, we would NOT recommend this trip for young children. The right age would depend on the kid of course, but if they might get antsy on a long tight bus, be afraid of the wild life, or get too tired or wild to keep up happily on the approx. 1 hour nature walk, then leave them with a sitter- they won't enjoy it. And the air boat is EXTREMELY loud-- I think perhaps dangerously loud for a very young child. They have ear covers to mute the sound a LITTLE but they are designed for adult heads and are kind of cheap-o. In the end we learned a lot of things we had no idea about, and about a 90% fun day.

Hello Barb and thank you for your kind comments. Doug is great and does a fantastic job with all of his guests. He's really good with kids too and we find that parents with children that love nature know that this tour is the right tour for them. Those with antsy kids know as well and choose our half day tour, Captain Bob's Excellent Adventure. Either way, children are completely safe on the airboat and the noise often lulls the little ones to sleep. Tipping is never expected but certainly appreciated. We state this in our confirmation emails and during the reservation process. It's a way of showing gratitude to a trained naturalist who has spent a wonderful day with you exploring the majestic Everglades!
We had a wonderful time. It was fun and interesting for all ages. My 5 year old daughter had as good of a time as her 68 year old grandpa! Ben was an amazing guide! He was very knowledgable about everything! We saw several ecosystems, many different birds, alligators, dolphins, and so much more! The airboat ride was fun, informative, and had a wonderful guide. Captain Ed got us so close to the dolphins we could almost touch them on the boat cruise! We also had a delicious lunch in Everglade City! I can't say enough wonderful things about the Everglades Day Safari and our wonderful guide, Ben!!!

OUR EVERGLADES STORY
Everglades day safari.
Everglades Day Safari began as a one van tour operation in Fort Myers Beach, FL in 1991. We offered true eco-tours when few people knew what the concept meant. Our tours would be educational and entertaining while protecting the environment of the Everglades. The tours became quite popular, eventually servicing the Sanibel area and by 1996, new owner Captain Bob Cowlishaw expanded our departure points to the greater Fort Myers area.
We soon added a second van and by 2000 the demand was so popular that families and kids joined in on the fun. Captain Bob’s Excellent Adventure was born and kids of all ages could enjoy Everglades activities including a hands-on reptile presentation.
Everglades Day Safari expanded across the state that same year, offering tours out of Fort Lauderdale under the guidance of Director of Operations Cindy Gregg.
In 2016 Captain Bob retired and longtime guide and wildlife biologist Pete Corradino purchased Everglades Day Safari and continues to help the business sustainably grow.
In 2021 Everglades Day Safari celebrated its 30th Anniversary.

Fantastic Tour/Day Trip that should be on everyone's bucket list!
We had 1 day where we wanted to go to Everglades National Park but were a little overwhelmed at the drive from Ft. Myers and also where to go for the best experience. Found this trip and thought it would be a great opportunity. It exceeded every expectation and then some. What makes this experience so fantastic is your guide. Yes we could have driven down to the same places. But we would have not had the same experience. Our guide was so knowledgable and we learned so much about the history and the environment and the wildlife and how all of those things interact. We came away from that day trip with such an appreciation that we never would have been able to achieve on our own. You are also using local outfitters for your boat rides who really know the area. I can't recommend this trip enough.
Interesting tour of the Everglades by foot and airboat. Great guide Rhett was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and entertained us all. Highly recommend if you don't have the time for an all day Everglades tour.
A great way to soak up some knowledge while having so much fun. There were birds and alligators everywhere. Also a mother alligator and her nest of babies. Gorgeous location. Highly recommend.
Absolutely recommend! Heidi knows everything about the wildlife, plantlife and history of the florida and the everglades. We had a great day. The boat captains were both excellent too.
Great day! Especially enjoyed the birds and the dolphins. Lots to see. Airboat ride was great and so was the boat ride from Everglades City. Saw so much more than we would have on our own.
very informative and great guides on all 3 outings. We got to see alligators, local birds, baby alligators, dolphins, and the local plants. And we had a great lunch
