• The Supreme Court has now permitted visit to Tajmahal by moonlight.
• The Tajmahal by moonlight shall be open on Full moon day and 2 days before and 2 days after the full moon.
• On every Friday, it shall remain closed. ( even for moonlight visit it shall remain closed on Friday ).
• The entrance tickets presently are as follows : Adult : Foreigners - Rs 750/- Indians - Rs 510/- Children : 3 to 15 years Foreigners - Rs 500/- Indians - Rs 500/-
• The tickets are issued ONLY ONE DAY in advance from ASI, Agra office.There is NO same day issue of tickets.
• The timings for ticket purchase are 1100 to 1700 hours one day before.
• The tickets are computer printed individually with full details of the guests and are non transferable.
• ASI needs following details in advance on the application form for ALL guests and same can be deposited thru representatives also. Name Sex Passport Number Age Nationality For Indians need age / address and full names for all guests.
• ASI shall allot tickets for any batch as per availability. The guests shall have to reach at Shilpgram parking on their own 30 minutes before and then they shall be taken in the batches of 50 persons per group by police escort in battery van and back.
• There is no charge for battery van.
• The guests are permitted for 30 minutes only inside Tajmahal and entry is ONLY till first Red Sandstone platform at the entrance gate.
• Video cameras / hand bags are not permitted. Only still camera and binoculars are permitted.
• During the months of Dec and Jan heavy fog is anticipated hence the visibility from the platform shall be very poor. The timings are 2030 to 2400 hours. Eight batches of 50 persons. Total 400 visitors per day.
• Guides are not allowed and if required separate full ticket as applicable to Indians ( Rs 510/- ) shall have to be purchased. Tajmahal for moonlight visits shall NOT be open to visitors during the month of RAMZAN.

1. Taj Mahal

Rightfully considered as the most beautiful monument in the world, Taj Mahal is located in the historical city of Agra. Popularly known as the “symbol of love”, Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a memorial for his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal who died while giving birth to their 14th child in 1631.

Every year millions of visitors from India and all over the world pass through the magnificent gates to catch a glimpse of this breathtaking monument, and almost none leave feeling disappointed or underwhelmed by the grandeur of this monument.

The Taj Mahal was constructed using white marble imported from Makrana in Rajasthan. Over 20,000 people from all over India and Central Asia worked on this grand building and it took almost 17 years to complete the construction of the Taj Mahal.

The construction was finally completed by 1653 AD. The tomb is laid out in a rectangular shape, and can be approached through a massive gateway which has an arch and alcoves on both sides of it.

Each of the corners of the mausoleum platform is graced with 40 meter high white minarets.  Within the Taj you will also find an inlay of thousands of semi-precious stones carved with flowers.

The four Taj features impressive vaulted arches containing pietra dura scrollwork and the quotations from the Quran. The whole structure is topped off by four small domes.

Agra Fort was the main residence of the Mughals till 1638, after which the capital was shifted from Agra to New Delhi. Agra Fort is one of the best-known monuments built by the Mughals and has intricately decorated buildings.

It is a magnificent blend of the Mughal style of art and architecture and is one of the most visited tourist spots in Agra. The Red Fort in Agra covers a vast area of three kilometers and is surrounded by a 70 feet tall wall. The walls are made of red sandstone and they completely surround the fort from all the directions.

The Fort has four main gates on its four sides. Built solely out of red sandstone, this expansive architecture looms over the beautiful city of Agra. Within the premises of the fort lie the most exquisitely built Pearl Mosque, Diwan-i I Khas, Diwan-i I Aam, Musamman Burj, Sheesh Mahal, Moti Masjid, Nagina Masjid and Jahangiri Mahal.

3. Mehtab Bagh

Mehtab Bagh was originally built by Emperor Babur as the last park in a series of eleven parks on the Yamuna’s east bank. This was long before the Taj was constructed.

The Garden eventually fell into a state of disrepair until it was little more than a huge mound of sand. The park was revived again to protect the Taj Mahal from the erosive effects of the sand blown across the river.
