"The wind was tricky out there and the course was pretty firm, so if you don't hit it where you want to it can pretty much bounce anywhere," Strom told ladieseuropeantour.com .

"I played steady today, I had eight birdies, but I made some mistakes as well. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the score, there's still some things I need to figure out especially in the right to left wind, but hopefully I can work that out tomorrow and continue to play well."

Boulden added: "It was tough out there. I played here two years ago, and it played quite different to then. It's a great test of golf especially with the wind out there, so just trying to keep the ball in play really.

"The fairways are narrow, but my game plan is hit the driver and try to get over a lot of stuff, with the greens I've been pitching on the front and hoping that it stops."

The Ladies European Tour begins in Kenya

T he Ladies European Tour is about to kick off the 2024 season with the Magical Kenya Ladies Open, which will be held from 8 to 11 February at the picturesque Vipingo Ridge course, in Kilifi County, Kenya. In this tournament, we will have the opportunity to see only one Italian representative on the field, Alessandra Fanali.

Ladies, schedule

The focus is on three players who made a big impression in last year's Race To Costa del Sol, namely India's Diksha Dakar (placed third), Spain's Ana Pelaez Trivino (fifth place) and Germany's Alexandra Forsterling (eighth place).

These talented players are ready to challenge a competitive field of participants. Other players competing include names such as the English Gabriella Cowley, Lily May Humphreys, Meghan MacLaren, Liz Young and Bronte Law, the Iberian Nuria Iturrioz, the South Africans Lee-Anne Pace and Nicole Garcia, the Finnish Tiia Koivisto, the Belgian Manon De Roey, Russian Nataliya Guseva, Argentine Magdalena Simmermacher, Northern Irish Olivia Mehaffey, Slovenian Katja Pogacar and Ana Belac and Swiss Elena Moosmann and Chiara Tamburlini.

Alessandra Fanali, with a good season behind her, aims to consolidate her success after achieving five top tens and a team victory in the Aramco Team Series Riyadh in her first season on the Ladies European Tour. She kept her "card" thanks in 46th place in the money list and is now ready to continue growing, taking advantage of the positive experience gained.

The prize money up for grabs for the tournament amounts to 300,000 euros, and promises to be an exciting competition. From the low and sandy coast of the Indian Ocean, the territory of Kenya proceeds inland. Its geography is quite complex.

It is located in East Africa and is crossed by the equator. Despite being an equatorial and tropical country, it has very varied climates. In the north there are desert areas and in the central south plateaus with forests and savannahs.

The nation is crossed by long mountain chains. The morphological element that most characterizes Kenya is the Rift Valley, which cuts it from north to south. The internal waters are represented by fresh and salt water lakes and numerous boraciferous showers and geysers.

However, there are few rivers, of which only two have a notable flow and length (the Tana and the Galana). The coastal strip, over 400 km long, is succeeded by a region of arid and steppe plateaus; the central one, which rises to altitudes between 1,500 and 3,000 metres, is divided by the fracture of the Rift Valley which forms the basin of Lake Turkana (or Rodolfo).

On the sides of the Rift Valley, imposing volcanic massifs rise, the largest of which is Mount Kenya (5199 m), one of the highest in Africa, and Mount Kilimanjaro (5895 m) on the border with Tanzania. The plateau slopes to the west, near Lake Victoria, and to the north, where the territory is occupied by a large desert plateau.
