Apart from the beautiful sights that you will get to see, you will also enjoy the following experiences.

Boating or Canoeing:

A canoe is a simple wooden boat, pointed at both ends, It is rowed with a single-bladed paddle. Since it is small in size, a canoe can take you to the narrowest of the canals in the backwaters and you can, therefore, explore the backwaters to a great extent. It is quite an experience. But if canoeing is not possible, then you can definitely enjoy a boat cruise. The relaxing boat cruise will allow you to absorb the scenic beauty of Kumbalangi. You will see interesting village scenes, other colourful boats and get a picturesque view of the backwaters.

Crab Farm Visit:

The crab farm in Kumbalangi has two varieties of crabs – the red ones and the green ones. Both varieties are famous for their nutritional value and great taste. At the crab farm, you will learn many exciting details not only about crab meat but also about crab catching.

After a few activities, you will be served lunch in an authentic Kerala style. Upon request, we can arrange for the lunch to be served on a banana leaf so that you can have the traditional experience. And then after lunch, you enjoy some other exciting activities.

Coconut-related activities:

Kerala’s coconut trees add marvellous beauty to the land. It is interesting to note that the state of Kerala produces 45% of India’s coconuts. The speciality of a coconut tree is that you can use every part of the tree in some way or the other. From the husk, you can make coir and use the coir to make handicrafts. The leaves can be used to make doormats or baskets. Even the shell is used to make ladles and big spoons. The fruit, of course, can be eaten or processed to make hair oil and cooking oil. During your tour in Kumbalangi, you will see the harvesting of coconuts, dehusking of coconuts, extraction of coconut milk, coconut processing, broom making from coconut leaves and yarn making from coconut fibre. These activities are an interesting sight to watch, and it’s quite thrilling to see how the tree is used in so many different ways.

Coir Making from Coconut Fibre:

The coir products of Kerala are ideal take-home souvenirs. You will simply love them. Something else you will love is watching the process of making these coir products. In fact, you can also see how coir is made from coconut fibre using weaving wheels. Most local women keep themselves busy during the day, making coir and coir products.

Agriculture Farm Visit:

The farms of Kumbalangi grow various crops, including coconut, toddy, banana, different spices, and many other fruits and vegetables. They may also be housing rabbits, ducks, and hens. A visit to the farm at Kumbalangi can be a refreshing experience.

Chinese Fishing Nets Operation:

Just the sight of Chinese Fishing Nets is quite beautiful in itself. But since the operation of these fishing nets is a unique method of fishing, watching the operation can intrigue any traveller who hasn’t seen it before. At least four men are required for the operation of a single fishing net.

Clam Meat Processing:

Many locals are involved in clam meat processing as a means of livelihood. Usually, men collect clam fish from the waters, and the women steam it to separate the meat from the shell. It is an interesting sight to watch. After the process is done, they go to the market and sell the meat.

The Casting of Fishing Nets:

A Kerala fisherman will throw fish food, usually grated tapioca, in the waters and when the fish come to eat; he casts his net and catches all the fish at once. The casting of nets requires great skill and is an interesting sight to watch. It is definitely a must-see activity.

Fishing Using Fishing Rods:

The shallow regions of the backwaters have a great variety of fish; so it is ideal for fishing. With a simple fishing rod, fishing line and a hook, you can catch much fish. Earthworms are usually used as bait for the fish. Using a fishing rod requires a little bit of skill, but it is definitely a fun activity.

Tuk-Tuk Rides:

Kerala’s tuk-tuks are simply adorable to look at. But the real experience of a tuk-tuk is when you enjoy a ride in it. Tuk-tuks are quick, and more interestingly, the skills of the driver would really impress you, seeing how they can just take the tuk-tuk anywhere and everywhere.

Toddy Tapping:

A toddy tapper climbs right to the top of a coconut tree to collect sap. Then, the sap is fermented to make toddy. Climbing a coconut tree requires great skill and Kerala’s toddy tappers have mastered that skill. Watching the scene is quite a visual. Toddy tapping takes places in mornings and evenings only.

After enjoying the many relaxing activities at Kumbalangi, you will enjoy a refreshing cup of tea along with hot and yummy Kerala snacks. Then, we will drop you back at the Cochin Port on the cab or bus.

There are plenty of things to do on the Kumbalangi village tour. Let us explore them one by one for you to plan for your next visit. You can feel the essence of nature in your tour. So without further ado, let’s check out the activities.

Fish Farming

Fish farming is one of the best things to do in the Kumbalangi village tour. In the village, fish are raised in fish ponds or tanks. Some are used for manual consumption while some are raised to promote aquaculture and maritime culture.

You can learn about the process of raising fish, and their feeding habits. A considerable amount of time can be spent among the fishermen, being acquainted with the way they tend the fish every day. The fish species cultivated are salmon, carp, catfish and tilapia.

Chinese Net Fishing

Chinese net fishing is one of the key attractions in the Kumbalangi village tour. In colloquial language, they are known as Cheena Vala. The fishing nets are fixed at a place and then used for the catch. There is a technique by which the nets need to be operated.

You can visit the Chinese net fishing zone and experience the way the fishermen use the nets. It’s an interesting concept and skill to watch. You can try your hand with them and check your skill in using the net to catch a fish.

If you are opting for a Kumbalangi village tour during the summers, then you must never miss the opportunity to relish the coconut water.

Inside the village, you can find people selling coconuts beneath the trees in the open air. So feel the cool breeze and sip into the coconut water for that soothing effect. You not only will be relieved of any tiredness but can gain momentum to engage in many other fun activities inside the village.

Weaving coconut leaves

One of the interesting things to experience in the Kumbalangi village tour is watching the village women weaving coconut leaves. It’s wonderful to find unity among them. They remain jovial, enthusiastic and cool while carrying out their work. The coconut leaves are used mainly for house fencing and roof thatching.

The artistry and skill are worthy of appreciation along with the hard work involved in creating such amazing and simple things faster and seamlessly. You can sit with the womenfolk of the village and try your hand at weaving. A wonderful experience of witnessing the handmade artistry of the villagers.

Crab Farming

Another interesting activity to participate in and enjoy as part of the Kumbalangi village tour. Being known for marine life, there are a lot of crabs found along the waters flowing past the village. Within the village, a crab farm is maintained under the expert supervision of the villagers. The breeding of the crabs and then catching them for various purposes are regular activities on the farm.

The crabs are found in various sizes and weights, some being 500 gms and some as high as 3 kgs. These crabs are exported outside across the international borders as well. You can engage with the villagers on the crab farm, learning about the different types of crabs, their survival and breeding habits. You can also try your hand in catching the crabs with the help and guidance of the villagers. It’s somewhat a thrilling activity. The villagers are very lively and cooperative with the tourists visiting the crab farms.

Coir Making

Coir making is a traditional activity in many rural areas of India. You can experience the same thing on the Kumbalangi village tour. The ripe coconut husks are at first soaked in water. Then the husks are defibered. The coir is then made with the help of looms. The coir making is mainly performed by the village women. You can visit the coir making area inside the village.

It is wonderful to watch the entire process, the way systematically the activities are done by the villagers. You can participate with them in any of the activities and get a feel of the end to end process of coir making. This is a way to support the traditional method of rural India and promote eco-tourism.

Pottery is common in many villages across India. Kumbalangi village is not an exception. You can visit the pottery section of the village and watch the artistic process by which the pots are made. There are types of pottery to be observed there, earthenware, porcelain and stoneware.

At first, the clay part of the pots is kneaded then either de-aired or wedged. The pots are given different shapes utilizing various techniques. Once the shape is finalized or curated, the pots are dried and then fired for the final product. The artistic hands of the village folk are to be really appreciated. You can sit with them, speak and understand the entire process.

The best is to try making some of the pots with the villagers and then maybe carry some mementoes with you as a memory. Also, you can promote the age-old tradition of India among your friends, family and acquaintances.

Basket Making

One of the best parts of the Kumbalangi village tour is to watch the traditional method of basket making. It’s wonderful to watch the techniques of basket making, the skill behind the art of weaving them into beautiful shapes and sizes.

The baskets are used for several purposes. The villagers use them for their daily use. The fishermen for their regular catch and selling them. You can enjoy a good time with the villagers and learn basket making or weaving. Besides, you can purchase some artistic baskets from them as memoirs and carry them back home.

You must not miss boating on the backwaters while availing of the Kumbalangi village tour. Soaking into the freshness of the breeze and gazing at the scenic views around are bliss while floating on the backwaters. There is another interesting piece to the boating story.

The art of watching how the boats are made. You can check them out in the village. Mostly the boats are made from the wood of trees from jack and teak. Both small and big boats are made out of them. The small boats are majorly used for fishing.

The big ones are used by the visitors to enjoy boating in the backwaters. While boating you can also watch the different methods used by the villagers for catching fish.

Broom Making

The villagers tie the midribs of the coconut leaves for brooms. The brooms are used mainly for sweeping floors. Since the houses in the village mostly have mud floors, hence the brooms are appropriate to use. They can even be used to clean up portions outside the houses.

The process is quite simple and easy to learn. So you can check out the villagers making the brooms and learn the process from them. You can also sit with them and prepare some on your own.

Copra Processing

Copra processing is one of the skilful activities to watch in the Kumbalangi village tour. The entire process is a pleasure to watch. The villagers first cut the coconut into two pieces. Then they dry them under the sun to extract the coconut oil.

Usually, it takes approximately 3 days to extract the complete oil from the coconut pieces. The process of separating the copra from the coconut shell is something you must not miss out on during the tour. The copra is dried coconut. The villagers perform the activity in a group full of zeal and enthusiasm. You can join them, learn the process and try to perform the copra separation activities with them.

Clam Meat Processing

Clams are a kind of marine animal, a shellfish that is found in brackish waters. In Kumbalangi village, many of the villagers depend on clam meat processing for their survival and livelihood. It’s been done for generations and the family members accept this as part of their regular activities.

The responsibility of the men is to collect the clam fish from the backwaters. The ladies then steam the clamshell so that they can separate the meat from the shell easily. You can spend time with the villagers and participate in both activities. Catch some clams with the menfolk and then join the womenfolk to perform the separation activity. You are definitely going to enjoy it.

Toddy Tapping

If you love to enjoy some local drinks, then you can find out the process of toddy tapping in the Kumbalangi village tour. Toddy is made out of the juice from palm fruits. The men are usually experts who climb up the palm trees to pluck the fruits. The fruit juice is then extracted and fermented to prepare Toddy.

The alcohol content is 8.1 % and is natural. The local people of Kerala consider Toddy as a health drink. You can watch the entire processing of Toddy and then sip into it to feel the flavour and essence of the drink. Indeed it is a great experience.

We plan for tours into many prominent destinations in India. But then being in a natural environment and enjoying the blissful nature along with the local people is such a surreal feeling. So next time when you visit Kerala, especially Kochi, then do not forget to visit Kumbalangi village. You may even stay at the village overnight to enjoy an eventful visit.

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Moscow, a City Like No Other

Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.

Moscow Tours centering on Russian History

Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.

Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers

What is the best time to visit moscow.

Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide

How many days are enough in Moscow?

If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you. Russia Moscow Tour

Day 1 Panoramic city tour

Welcome to the glorious capital of Russia, Moscow! You’ll be met by your driver at the airport and taken to your centrally located hotel.

After check-in and rest, meet your private guide at the hotel lobby for a comprehensive tour of Moscow by car. Visit the starkly contrasting Theatre Square to see the stunning Bolshoi Theatre, pass Tverskaya Street, the city’s main boulevard and home to the landmark Yeleseyevskiy Grocery Store.

You’ll enjoy a panoramic drive along the Moskva River, where a huge, controversial state of Peter the Great was erected. Pass by the legendary Gorky Park and the White House before a stop at the architecturally stunning Novodevichy Convent, and the observation platform at Sparrow Hills, for a bird’s eye view over this staggering megalopolis.

Day 2 Red Square and Kremlin

After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will take you on a walking tour of the historical city centre. Stroll through the Red Square, the hub of cultural life in Moscow, with its elaborate ‘stone flower’ fountain and fantasy-like St Basil’s Cathedral – a postcard-perfect symbol of the nation. Admire the grandiose façade of GUM, the city’s most luxurious shopping centre, and visit Alexander’s Garden, with its eternal flame and the chance to watch a changing of the guards.

Break for lunch before continuing on a tour of the Kremlin and Armoury Chamber, famous of its collection of tsarist fashion, with regalia such as jewel-encrusted crowns, orbs and sceptres as well as arms and armour, exotic gifts from the leaders of faraway lands, and an illustrious case of Imperial Faberge eggs.

As an option* spend an evening on a sumptuous dinner cruise, taking in the stunning sights and city lights of this mesmerising metropolis by night.

Day 3 Metro and Arbat Street

Start a day with a tour of Metro, stopping on the way to marvel at some of the most elaborately decorated stations of the world-famous Moscow subway system. Take a stroll along Old Arbat street - the most famous street in Moscow. Through the centuries Arbat used to be one of the most bohemian places in Moscow. Today Arbat is a promenade full of small cozy cafes and street life.

The afternoon is free for you to either enjoy the rest of the day on your own or choose among optional excursions to explore more of Moscow. Visit the Tretyakov Gallery or Pushkin State Museum to admire Russian art. Join locals for a stroll at the Gorky or VDNH park.

Visit beautiful Kolomeskoye Estate or Izmailovo Kremlin, or spend a day exploring the beautiful city of the Golden Ring (Russian province) - Sergiev Posad. In the evening you will be transferred to the airport for your departure to your next destination.

PEOPLE'S 24 Hour Food Tour: Chicago

It may be known as the Second City, but Chicago is second to none when it comes to a memorable and diverse food scene. We pick the best places to eat in one delicious day

Writer Ari Bendersky has covered Chicago’s dining scene for nearly 20 years. From serving as founding editor of Eater Chicago to writing for many local and national publications (including WSJ magazine, New York Times, and Food & Wine) to launching his own Substack newsletter, Something Glorious , he continues to deliver the goods on where to eat, what wine and spirits to drink, and what’s happening in the lives of some of the world’s top chefs.

Chicago is inarguably one of the top culinary destinations in the U.S. From its legendary humbler fare (Chicago-style pizza and the requisite Chicago hot dog "dragged through the garden") to on-the-rise young chefs cooking the food of their cultures to some of the most lauded high-end cuisine in the country (there’s a reason the annual James Beard Foundation Awards are held here each year), there's something for everyone within the city limits.

That, of course, makes it almost impossible to put together an itinerary for a visitor looking to try the best of the city's eats in just one day. In fact, narrowing down your options might be some of the toughest decisions you ever make, up there with "Do I go to a top college to study engineering or go straight to work in a hot tech company?" and "Is a ticket to see Taylor Swift more important than covering my rent this month?"

Like we said, these aren't easy decisions, but you have to make the choice and just go with it. From breakfast to dinner to a late-night indulgence, Chicago has more options than you have time, so choose wisely — ideally with some guidance from those of us who take this "research" seriously. Here are our picks for where to dine during one day in one of the country’s best food cities.

Breakfast: Tiztal Cafe

Tiztal Cafe

No matter where you’re staying, grab a rideshare or hop on the “L” train and head to Uptown to this super cute Latin women-owned gem. Yes, you can get pancakes, scrambled eggs or an omelet, but Tiztal’s Mexican breakfast, especially the chilaquiles, is why you come here. Made with fresh crisp tortillas and green salsa, the dish gets topped with warm baked chihuahua cheese and cilantro (go extra and top it with steak and eggs, their specialty). Or opt for the huevos rancheros or chorizo scramble. But if you want simple eggs, be sure to ask for some pico de gallo and tortillas on the side. Pro tip: if it’s warm out, ask to sit on their recently renovated hidden backyard patio filled with Mexican art.

Lunch: Lula Cafe

Kyle Kissel

A mainstay in Chicago’s culinary world, Lula Cafe has been serving some of the best lunch (and let’s not forget dinner) for 25 years. The restaurant is led by chef/owner Jason Hammel, a multiple James Beard Award nominee and champion of the farm to table movement. Lula elevates brunch — you can order off the full brunch and lunch menu between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. — while remaining utterly cozy.

Keep it simple with buttermilk pancakes, or opt for a perfectly cooked French omelet filled with butternut squash, ricotta, and pear mostarda that’s served with a petit salad of local greens. Or go for baked French feta with marinated olives and a punchy jalapeño basil oil; the classic Lula ‘99 turkey sandwich layered with avocado, lettuce, and chili oil; or this writer’s favorite warming chickpea and fennel tagine with spiced green harissa and sweet golden raisins. Your table might be about to buckle after ordering everything that sounds delicious, but you should also treat yourself to one of their brunch cocktails — you’re on vacation, right?

Sweet Treat: Mindy’s Bakery

Aliza J Sokolow

After winning a James Beard Award for outstanding pastry chef, running a successful restaurant, and launching a massively successful edible cannabis brand, what’s left for Mindy Segal to do? Open her namesake bakery. Set in Wicker Park, Mindy’s Bakery sees people lining up early for an array of baked goods pulling from European and Middle Eastern traditions. Her housemade bagels and bialys are a huge draw, but if you're indulging an afternoon sweet tooth, you can’t pass up a twice-baked almond croissant, hot fudge glazed donuts, marbled sour cream coffee cake with cocoa nib streusel, and the smattering of hot-out-the-oven cookies, bars, brioche tarts, and cakes.

(Bonus pick: If you're here on a hot day and need to chill out, check out Pretty Cool Ice Cream , with locations in Logan Square and Lincoln Park, for inventive ice cream pops from award-winning pastry chef Dana Cree.)

Dinner: Shaw’s Crab House

Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants

There are any number of newer hotspots we could send you to (some recent favorites include Maxwells Trading , Obelix , Brasero , or Daisies — and frankly, if you have more time, definitely go to any one of these). But for a true "classic Chicago" dinner out, the city's 40-year mainstay Shaw’s Crab House is a fun stop with something for everyone.

It's two restaurants in one – the more formal dining room that throws back to the Rat Pack era and a casual and boisterous oyster bar. You can get steak or chicken, but it is a "crab house," after all, so definitely indulge in some of its popular seafood. Start with a dozen oysters flown in fresh from around North America. Move on to jumbo lump crab cakes or a cup of creamy New England clam chowder. Then settle in for seared Alaskan halibut, a lobster roll, or chilled stone crab claws (when in season).

Late Night Snack: The Wiener's Circle

Gabriella Zammuto

When you want a side of sass with your Chicago dog, head to the infamous Wiener's Circle . With a counter team known for dishing out fiery insults to an often drunk late-night (and even daytime) crowd, Wiener’s Circle has all the classic Chicago hot dog stand staples: Chicago dogs, char cheddar burgers, char Polish, cheddar fries, and more.

You might also get a side of a celeb sighting with your ketchup-free dog: Ed Sheeran has served food from behind the counter; Eagles center Jason Kelce arrived to find the restaurant’s sign reading “Welcome Taylor's Boyfriends Brother” (and gave back as good as he got), and global DJ Marshmello recently performed from the rooftop. This spot is definitely a vibe.

Spot a Celeb At: RPM Steak

Lindsay Eberly / Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants

This Chicago steakhouse, located in the heart of busy River North, has long been a beacon for the rich and famous. That should come as no surprise, since RPM Steak is owned in part by Bill and Giuliana Rancic.

Recent visitors include Chris Rock, Sophia Bush, Mariah Carey, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and they’re not just coming for its welcoming hospitality. It’s all about the food and drinks here.

The draw is the nearly 20 steak options like the 28-day dry-aged, 16-ounce New York Strip and four cuts of Japanese wagyu (priced per ounce) you can pair with decadent sauces and butters like black truffle bearnaise or king crab Oscar. But the giant seafood towers, warm Parker House rolls, spicy miso lobster, and whole roasted Dover sole add to the appeal. The extensive and impressive wine list? The cherry on top of it all.

Final-round recap: Scottie Scheffler wins the Masters

Change Text Size

Scottie Scheffler has won the 88th Masters in a final-nine runaway.

Scheffler carded a final-round, 4-under 68 at Augusta National Golf Club for an 11-under total, four strokes clear of Ludvig Åberg on a sun-kissed Sunday in Georgia. Scheffler earns his second green jacket and ninth PGA TOUR title.

Read below for a look at how Sunday afternoon unfolded at Augusta National, as Scheffler emerged from a four-way co-lead late in the front nine with six birdies in a 10-hole stretch around the turn, a decisive triumph amidst the loblolly pines.

7:00 p.m.: It's a coronation.

Scottie Scheffler makes a comfortable par at the par-4 17th, setting the stage for a heroic walk up the par-4 18th hole as the adoring patrons offer their appreciation. Scheffler takes the tee with a four-stroke lead over Ludvig Åberg, and he tugs his tee shot just slightly, the ball rolling into a fairway bunker. His second shot lands near the green's front edge and feeds back into a collection area short-right, meaning he needs to hole out in five strokes or fewer to secure his second green jacket.

Scheffler pitches to 3 feet and

6:35 p.m.: After a par at the par-5 15th hole, Scottie Scheffler strikes a quality mid-iron at the par-3 16th, perfectly placed 10 feet below the hole, and converts the birdie to take a four-shot lead at 11 under. It's his sixth birdie in his last nine holes, as he continues to make a statement as to his dominance in professional golf.

Ludvig Åberg holds solo second place (7 under) as he plays the 18th hole, with Collin Morikawa in solo third at 5 under.

6:10 p.m.: You can't stop Scottie Scheffler. You can only hope to contain him, and that could be a tall task for years to come.

Scheffler sticks a wedge to kick-in birdie range at the par-4 14th, moving to double digits under par for the first time this week. It's a good time to reach that mark. Scheffler stands 10 under, three clear of Ludvig Åberg, who makes par at the par-5 15th. Max Homa (through 15) is the next closest at 5 under, five strokes back.

5:55 p.m.: Ludvig Åberg keeps the pedal down with a wedge to 7 feet for birdie at the par-4 14th, moving to 7 under and keeping pace with the leader Scottie Scheffler, who two-putts for birdie at the par-5 13th to maintain a two-stroke lead at 9 under.

It appears Åberg is the only player with a realistic chance at catching Scheffler. Max Homa holds solo third at 5 under (through 14).

On a Sunday that featured a four-way co-lead midway through the front nine, Scheffler is yet again proving why he's the unquestioned world No. 1.

5:40 p.m.: Masters first-timer Ludvig Åberg isn't fading gently into the good night, as the Swede stripes a 241-yard approach at the par-5 13th to 18 feet, en route to a two-putt birdie. He moves into solo second at 6 under, two back of Scheffler.

5:30 p.m.: Scottie Scheffler plays a safe shot to the front-left portion of the par-3 12th green, shades of Tiger Woods in 2019 en route to his fifth green jacket. Scheffler knows there's no need to press matters around Augusta National with a three-stroke lead, and he safely two-putts for par to remain three clear of the field.

5:20 p.m.: Things are unraveling for all players not named Scheffler.

Max Homa pulls his tee shot long and left into the brush on the par-3 12th, a short but vexing hole that has loomed large in several Masters through the years. He proceeds to make double bogey, falling to 5 under for the week.

Meanwhile, Collin Morikawa makes double bogey at No. 11, his second double bogey in three holes, falling to 3 under for the week. He's suddenly five strokes back of Scheffler, who makes a safe bogey at the 11th; he misses the green short-right, pitches to 9 feet and two-putts.

Scheffler, 8 under, now stands three strokes clear of Homa and Åberg. Tommy Fleetwood has moved into solo fourth place at 4 under.

The three-hole stretch known as Amen Corner, Nos. 11-13, often provides clarity in a Masters. It has seemingly done so once again.

5:10 p.m.: Scottie Scheffler watches on at the top of the hill of Amen Corner as Ludvig Åberg cards a round-derailing double-bogey 6 at the par-4 11th.

As the young Swede and Max Homa walk to the famous 12th hole, Collin Morikawa makes the same mistake, pulling a long iron left on No. 11 into the hazard.

5:00 p.m.: Is it inevitable? Scottie Scheffler takes control of the 2024 Masters Tournament with three birdies in a row, heading into Amen Corner. After backing off the 9-foot putt on the 10th green, Scheffler makes no mistakes with the right-to-left breaker, finding the center of the cup.

As this happens, 300 yards ahead, his nearest competitor Ludvig Åberg makes his first mistake of the round, and what a costly one it could be. The young Swede misses left and finds the water hazard greenside at the par-4 11th.

4:50 p.m.: Max Homa joins the dart party at the par-4 10th hole. After splitting the fairway with a drive, Homa hits his second from 161 yards to just 3 feet. Tapping in the putt. he joins Ludvig Åberg who made a routine par, at 7 under heading into Amen Corner.

4:45 p.m.: How things can change so quickly at Augusta National. Scottie Scheffler nearly adds another hole-out to the collection. Could this be the turning point? From 89 yards the world No. 1 uses the slope behind the pin on the ninth green – reading it almost like a putt – and the ball scares the hole, finishing an inch away. This happens while his playing partner has to pitch out to the front bunker and fails to escape on the first attempt, leading to a double bogey. Morikawa falls three back of Scheffler's lead, who makes the walk up the hill to the 10th hole at 9 under.

4:35 p.m.: Ludvig Åberg drains a lengthy downhill birdie putt at the par-4 ninth, joining Scheffler and Morikawa as co-leaders at 7 under. Masters first-timer Åberg turns in 3-under 33, looking to become the first player to win his Masters debut since Fuzzy Zoeller in 1979.

Homa two-putts for par at the ninth to turn at 6-under total, one off the lead.

As they say, the Masters begins on the final nine Sunday. We are here.

4:30 p.m.: The final pairing of Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa both make birdie at the par-5 eighth, moving into a two-way co-lead at 7 under.

Max Homa and Ludvig Åberg, playing the ninth, are each a stroke back at 6 under.

4:25 p.m.: There's now a four-way tie for the lead as the final nine beckons at the Masters.

Max Homa two-putts for birdie at the par-5 eighth, moving into a share of the lead at 6 under, alongside his playing partner Ludvig Åberg and both of the final pairing's competitors in Collin Morikawa and Scottie Scheffler.

4:10 p.m.: After back-to-back two-putt pars at Nos. 5 and 6, Scheffler finds a precarious spot at the par-4 seventh, as his tee shot caroms across the fairway into a spot where trees impact his approach. His second shot catches the front greenside bunker; he splashes to 11 feet and two-putts for his second bogey in four holes.

Scheffler now shares the lead at 6 under with Ludvig Åberg (who made birdie at No. 7 in the group ahead) and Collin Morikawa.

Max Homa is one stroke back after a bogey at No. 7.

3:30 p.m.: After flying his tee shot over the green at the staunch par-3 fourth, leader Scottie Scheffler can't get up and down, as his 14-foot par putt slides by. With a bogey, Scheffler falls to 7 under. He's now just one clear of Max Homa and Collin Morikawa. Ludvig Åberg is two back.

3:20 p.m.: After opening with back-to-back pars, overnight leader Scottie Scheffler stuffs a wedge to 3 feet for an easy birdie at the short par-4 third, which he birdied Saturday via a 35-footer. Scheffler moves to 8 under, two clear of the field.

3:00 p.m.: Max Homa gets up and down for birdie at the par-5 second. It's his first birdie in 34 holes, and he moves to 6 under, one back of Scheffler's lead. His playing partner Ludvig Åberg matches the birdie to reach 5 under.

2:55 p.m.: J.T. Poston won't win the Masters, but his closing stretch Sunday offers clues as to the scoring chances that await. Poston made birdie on Nos. 13, 14 and 15, and he adds a lengthy birdie at the par-4 18th to post 2-under 70 for a 5-over total.

2:40 p.m. ET: As we begin this blog and the final pairing gets underway, let's take stock of notable storylines that emerged early Sunday amidst Augusta's loblolly pines:

• Five-time Masters winner Tiger Woods completed his 100th career round at Augusta National, signing for a final-round 77 to complete the week at 16 over. Although Woods will fall short of a record-tying sixth green jacket, his week will be forever etched in Masters history, as he set a tournament record with his 24th consecutive made cut, surpassing the mark he shared with Fred Couples and Gary Player.

Woods played the final round alongside amateur Neal Shipley, who carded 1-over 73 Sunday (12-over total) and will earn low amateur honors as the only of five amateurs to make the cut.

• The conditions softened overnight and the course was ripe for the taking early Sunday. Tom Kim took advantage with a closing 6-under 66, one off the tournament's low score thus far (Bryson DeChambeau's opening-round 65). Kim's score was an 11-stroke improvement from a third-round 77. Kurt Kitayama rebounded from a third-round 82 with a closing 68, and four players carded 3-under 69 in the day's early portion: Keegan Bradley, Min Woo Lee, Jason Day and Camilo Villegas.

• Rory McIlroy stands even-par Sunday through eight holes, 3-over overall for the tournament. Trailing the lead by 10 strokes with 10 holes to play, it appears his quest to complete the career Grand Slam will have to wait another year.

Meghan Markle’s former aide confirms she was interviewed regarding allegations that staff was bullied

A trusted royal aide has confirmed that she was interviewed regarding bullying allegations leveled against Meghan Markle.

Samantha Cohen, who was a member of the royal staff for nearly 20 years, shared in a recent interview with the Herald-Sun that she was one of 10 staff members questioned about the claims.

Although she declined to elaborate, Cohen, 54, alluded to the staff turnover.

Meghan Markle and the Queen.

“I was only supposed to stay for six months but stayed for 18 – we couldn’t find a replacement for me and when we did we took them on tour to Africa with Harry and Meghan to show them the ropes but they left (quit) as well while in Africa,” she said.

News of Markle’s alleged bullying first became public days before her and Prince Harry’s explosive 2021 sit-down with Oprah Winfrey.

The Times of London reported that the “Suits” alum, 42, occasionally reduced staff members to tears while she lived at Kensington Palace.

Two senior members of the palace staff were allegedly bullied into quitting their jobs.

The couple’s communications assistant at the time, Jason Knauf, reported the behavior to Prince William’s then-private secretary, Simon Case, in October 2018.

“I am very concerned that the Duchess was able to bully two PAs out of the household in the past year. The treatment of X* was totally unacceptable,” the HR complaint read.

“The Duchess seems intent on always having someone in her sights,” Knauf reportedly continued. “She is bullying Y and seeking to undermine her confidence. We have had report after report from people who have witnessed unacceptable behavior towards Y.”

He added, “I remain concerned that nothing will be done.”

The Palace later announced it would be launching an investigation, but the findings would not be released.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex strenuously denied the claims and issued a strongly-worded statement.

Meghan Markle.

“Let’s just call this what it is—a calculated smear campaign based on misleading and harmful misinformation. We are disappointed to see this defamatory portrayal of the Duchess of Sussex given credibility by a media outlet.”

In “Spare,” Prince Harry, 39, defended his wife as an exemplary boss who “checked on staff who were ill, sent baskets of food or flowers or goodies to anyone struggling, depressed, off sick.”

She also “bought pizza and biscuits, hosted tea parties and ice-cream socials” for staff members.

Cohen worked closely with the late Queen as a private secretary and was asked by the late Monarch to work with the Duke and Duchess.

She was invited to the couple’s 2018 wedding and is said to have played an important role helping Markle prepare for her first appearance as the Duchess of Sussex at a Buckingham Palace garden party.

But according to royal author Valentine Low, the relationship was difficult.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

In his book “Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown,” Low wrote that Cohen was “screamed at” before and during the pair’s first official tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand, despite organizing it.

“Sam always made clear that it was like working for a couple of teenagers,” a source is said to have told Low.

“They (Meghan and Prince Harry) were impossible and pushed her to the limit. She was miserable.”

Tour of Britain Women Salvaged from Shutdown, Returns as Four-Stage Race for 2024

Women's worldtour stage-race reboots as four-day event starting from wales on june 6, with plans to expand to six days in future..

Officials confirmed details of the rebooted and rebranded Tour of Britain Women after a wild 10-week scramble to keep the race on the 2024 calendar.

Event organizer British Cycling revealed Monday a four-stage route from Wales and into Manchester for the inaugural edition of the race after its predecessor six-day “Women’s Tour” was effectively shuttered due to sponsorship shortfalls.

“It’s been a monumental effort by the whole team over the past 10 weeks to confirm the stages for this year’s Tour of Britain Women,” said newly appointed race director and former Team Sky/Ineos mastermind Rod Ellingworth.

“The race will take in four competitive and challenging routes, some challenging climbing in Wales and what I’m sure will be brilliant crowds on the roadside throughout,” Ellingworth said.

The news comes as a boon for the ailing British grassroots racing scene and gives hope for the future of the formerly named Women’s Tour.

The previous event was one of the OG stage-races of the Women’s WorldTour and counts Marianne Vos, Elisa Longo Borghini, and Demi Vollering on its roll of honor.

The first Tour of Britain Women rolls out from Welshpool in mid-Wales on June 6. Full stage details are due to be revealed in coming weeks.

“There’s clearly so much support and fondness for the race, both at home and further afield,” said Lidl-Trek racer Lizzie Deignan, who won the GC of the Women’s Tour in both 2016 and 2019.

“The four stage hosts deserve credit for their commitment to women’s racing and for helping to make the race happen, and I’m sure that together we can put on a brilliant show in June,” Deignan said.

It’s all-change this coming season for the Women’s WorldTour race and its partner 2.Pro-ranked Tour of Britain Men.

Both races faced shutdown at the turn of the year when former promoter Sweetspot entered liquidation  and new commercial partners could not be found.

National governing body British Cycling stepped in as organizer of both races at the final hour and established “British Cycling Events”.

Former Team Sky / Ineos Grenadiers staffer Ellingworth was appointed as race director soon afterward, and officials scrambled to design courses for both its men’s and women’s races.

Both events were shortened for 2024 due to both logistical and financial reasons.

The Tour of Britain Men  will take place across six days this September.

The formerly named “Tour of Britain” typically serves as a key tune-up for many riders heading to road worlds, with Wout van Aert, Mathieu van der Poel, and Julian Alaphilippe among recent GC winners on British roads.

British Cycling intends to bring both the Women’s and men’s tours to six days in the future as it continues to seek sponsorship partners.
