the trip 1967 videos

While filming on location at a California beach, TV commercial director Paul Groves is chided by his estranged wife, Sally, for failing to appear to sign their separation papers. Cracking under the pressures of his personal and professional life, Paul asks his friend John, a guru, to guide him through his first LSD trip. After stopping off at a psychedelic nightclub and attending a freak-out at the weirdly appointed pad of a pusher named Max, the two men go to John's place where Paul begins his trip. At first, it is cool and serene, full of brilliant colors and idyllic landscapes. Gradually, however, Sally and the seductive Glenn, a blonde Paul met at Max's, enter Paul's hallucinations, and his journey becomes a phantasmagoria of sexual encounters, medieval rites, and paranoic visions in which he assumes the guilt of mankind. Despite Paul's plea for an antidote, John persuades him to "go with it," and the nightmare progresses to a point where Paul attends his own funeral. Although this episode should be the breakthrough, the trip continues as Paul "sees" John, his head bashed in, slumped lifeless in a chair. Fleeing from the apartment, Paul wanders in a daze about the city until Max sends him to Glenn's beachhouse where he is taken through the final phase of his trip during a sexual experience. When it is finally over, Paul believes he has died, been reborn, and is now standing on the threshold of a new life. Glenn, however, warns him ominously--"It's easy now. Wait until tomorrow."

The film was banned in the UK, because the censors considered it to be an advertisement for LSD. In 2003, the BBFC revised the decision and granted the film an 18 certificate.

Some of the music was provided by the group, The Electric Flag.

In order to prepare for the film, Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, Bruce Dern and Jack Nicholson all engaged in a group LSD trip.

Jack Nicholson wrote this screenplay for Corman based on his own experience of taking LSD under controlled laboratory conditions and also on his marriage break-up with first wife, Sandra Knight.

Paul (Peter Fonda), a director saddened by his failed marriage and unsatisfied with his work, is looking to start over. His friend, the cool, sage-like John (Bruce Dern), suggests that an LSD trip is exactly what Paul needs to get out of his rut. Paul decides to indulge, and experiences visions that are alternately beautiful and terrifying. His hallucinations, which include a carnival populated by dwarfs, bizarrely erotic encounters and even his own death, radically reshape his consciousness.

Probably better if watched while under the influence of drugs. Also needs more Dennis Hopper

the trip 1967 videos

This is a very interesting low Budget feature about the effects of LSD. The Trip, directed by Roger Corman with a script by Jack Nicholson is a well acted film that works as a commentary of drug use. The actors in the film to prepare for the film actually took LSD as well as the film's director, Roger Corman. For a low budget film, The Trip is pretty good for what it sets out to do. Considering its topic, this isn't a film for everyone, but to those who enjoy B movies, yo0u may enjoy watching this one. As it is, it's well acted, and it does show the effects of the drug. Eccentric, plainly weird and off the wall, this is among the most bizarre pictures that I have seen in quite some time. However, I quite the film, and the story, though flawed, is fairly good and the film's cast is engaging enough to keep you involved. Like I said, The Trip isn't a film for everyone, but this is mostly for Cult film fans, and even then, it's pretty weird. The film interesting in how it shows us the effects of LSD, and of course that's the centerpiece of the whole movie. Viewers looking for an elaborate, in depth film with a great story will be disappointed. The Trip has a good cast and story, but it never is anything excellent. This was made at the time where everyone was using LSD, so Corman naturally decided to make a film about its effects, it is an accomplished cult film and I've seen my fair share of farfetched films, but The Trip is definitely a prime example of eccentric cinema at its most unhinged.

The Trip is literally an acid trip, written by Jack Nicholson himself, and starring Peter Fonda as the guy on a trip, which is really psychedelic, but sometimes kinda slow and boring. Overall, good, but I didn't care much for it.

Pretty realistic, actually, but then, I wouldn't know first hand, of course. Ahem.

The Trip is a counterculture movie from 1967. The film stars Peter Fonda as Paul, a disillusioned television commercial director who feels increasingly distant from his daily life. Searching for a sense of purpose, he decides to take LSD in hopes of finding meaning and truth. Susan Strasberg plays Sally, Paul's estranged wife who still cares for him despite their separation. She is concerned about his experiment, but cannot bring herself to stop him. Bruce Dern appears in a supporting role as John, a hippie guide who takes Paul on his psychedelic journey.

The movie, directed by Roger Corman, is a visually stunning exploration of the psychedelic experience. Shot in vivid color, the film is a hallucinatory journey into one man's subconscious mind. The camera work is experimental, using innovative techniques to convey the disorienting effects of LSD.

The Trip is both a reflection of its time and a prescient look at the cultural changes that were to come. The film captures the emerging flower power movement and the rebellion against societal norms that defined the 1960s. It is a snapshot of a moment in history when young people were searching for meaning beyond the corporate culture of the day.

At its core, The Trip is a story about one man's search for the truth. Paul is a man of privilege who feels lost and disconnected from his life. His journey on LSD takes him to the limits of his sanity and brings him face to face with his deepest fears and desires.

Throughout the film, Paul is haunted by visions of his own mortality. He confronts his own mortality and wrestles with the meaning of life. These scenes are visually arresting, capturing the existential dread that accompanies the realization of one's own mortality.

Despite its dark themes, The Trip is a visually exciting and engaging film. The use of color, camera work, and editing create a psychedelic experiences for the audience. And while the film is undeniably trippy, it is also a thoughtful meditation on the human condition.

The Trip was a controversial film upon its release. Some critics praised its exploration of the counterculture, while others condemned it as propaganda for the use of LSD. The film was subject to censorship in some countries and banned outright in others.

Despite this, The Trip has endured as a classic of the psychedelic film genre. The film's themes of alienation, rebellion, and the search for truth continue to resonate with audiences today. The movie is a snapshot of a moment in time when young people dared to question the status quo and seek a new way of living.

In conclusion, The Trip is a thought-provoking and visually stunning exploration of the human mind. It is a film that captures a moment in time when young people were looking for answers beyond the materialism and conformity of the day. The movie is a testament to the power of counterculture and its enduring legacy.

The Trip is a 1967 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 25 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.1.

The Trip

  • A disillusioned TV commercial director is guided by his friend through an LSD trip, during which he evaluates his identity and his relationships with women.
  • Paul Groves (Peter Fonda), a television commercial director, is in the midst of a personality crisis. His wife Sally (Susan Strasberg) has left him for another man and he seeks the help of his friend John (Bruce Dern), a self-styled guru and advocate of LSD. Paul asks John to be the guide on his first "trip". John takes Paul to a "freak-out" at his friend Max's (Dennis Hopper) pad. Splitting the scene, they score some acid from Max and return to John's split-level pad with an indoor/outdoor pool. Paul experiences visions of sex, death, strobe lights, flowers, dancing girls, witches, hooded riders, a torture chamber, and a dwarf. Most prominent among his hallucinations, however, are two women: Sally, his memories of which, both good and bad, he cannot so easily let go of, and Glenn (Salli Sachse), an acquaintance of Max's whom he has only just met but feels an immediate connection with, as she admires those who dare to try LSD and wishes to see him again soon. He panics, but John tells him to "go with it, man." Would you trust John? — alfiehitchie
  • An idyllic Californian seafront. A man in a tuxedo ( Michael Nader ) and a woman in a shimmering silver dress ( Judy Lang ) are locked in a passionate kiss. The woman coyly turns to us and declares "Anything Is Possible... when you use April In Paris perfume". This is revealed to be part of a TV commercial being directed by Paul Groves ( Peter Fonda ), whose personal life bares little resemblance to the fantasy he has been crafting: as his crew prepares for the next setup, Paul is visited by his soon-to-be-ex-wife Sally ( Susan Strasberg ), who chastises him for failing to notify her of his commitment to the shoot, as she has been waiting for him to sign divorce papers with their lawyer. Although they are still affectionate to each other, it is implied that Paul's workaholism has contributed to their break-up. After the shoot, Paul and his friend John ( Bruce Dern ) travel to the communal mansion of another acquaintance, Max ( Dennis Hopper ), a self-styled guru who is hosting a marijuana-fueled "freakout". As John and Max make preparations, Paul strikes up a conversation with one of the guests, Glenn ( Salli Sachse ). He reveals that he intends to embark on a "trip" by taking LSD to gain personal insight. A mutual attraction between the pair quickly blossoms - Glenn finds people who try acid "groovy" - and they express a desire to see each other again. Paul and John go to the latter's house, where he lays out his procedure: Paul will take a single pill of acid (250 micrograms), that he is to "turn off his mind, relax, and then float downstream", and that he must have absolute faith and confidence in John, who promises to not leave him unattended. If Paul's trip turns bad, he will have the option of taking a pill of Thorazine, which will end the trip immediately. The drug - which Paul takes with a glass of apple juice - takes effect earlier than anticipated: his mind unexpectedly flashes back to his encounter with Glenn. On John's advice, Paul begins the trip proper by lying down and wearing an eye mask. In his mind's eye, he witnesses a parade of colors, accented by the beating of his heart, before imagining himself climbing a cliff amid the beaches of Big Sur, where he and Glenn watch as a pair of black-hooded figures ride on horseback. Returning to reality, Paul describes to John the flow of energy that he feels from everything surrounding him; he is especially fascinated by an orange, which to him radiates like the Sun. In his mind, Paul and Glenn are joined by Sally; he has sex with both women (alternately... or perhaps they have merged into one?) as they are bathed in a kaleidoscopic array of clashing, darkened colors. Paul tells John that he loves "her" (a possible reference to Sally, Glenn, or both, or even women in general), but that he fears that he will suffer if he does not know what love truly means. He then states that if one opens themself to sex and love, the process is easy. Paul and John take a walk outside (where Paul compares some nearby TV antenna towers to "crosses on the mount"). In his trip, Paul encounters Glenn, a dwarf ( Angelo Rossitto ) peddling a witch's brew, and the hooded riders, who chase him into a cave leading to the mansion of Roderick Usher (as seen in House of Usher (1960) ). At the same time as he traverses through the house, he runs across a field of sand dunes. In a secluded room of the mansion, he finds himself hanging from a noose; meanwhile, the Paul running through the dunes collapses in a Christ-like pose. Paul then undergoes a multitude of funeral processions - some more violent than others - and Sally mourns his passing. In reality, Paul (now swimming in John's pool) fears that he is about to die, and begs for the Thorazine; John pulls him out of the pool and towels him off. He calms Paul down and assures him that his fear of dying is "all in [his] mind", and advises him to "just go along with it" if he dies within the trip again. As John briefly leaves him alone to get him his clothes, Paul stares into a mirror and watches as an array of light and shadow sprout out of his and Sally's mouths; he tells John that he can see into his brain, and that he agrees with what he said about it being all in his mind. Returning to his hallucinations, Paul is led by the hooded riders to Sally and Glenn, where he walks with them through a forest and (in the nude) through a field of flowers. However, the scene suddenly turns to a vision (or perhaps a memory?) of Sally having sex with another man ( Michael Blodgett ). The scene transforms unexpectedly again: within a fun-house-like setting, Paul is strapped to a chair beside a carousel being ridden by another dwarf ( Roger Arroyo ), while Max is dressed like a judge and behaves as such. Paul's disjointed conversation with Max eventually turns to his profession as a commercial director, and the inherent inauthenticity of commercials themselves. Paul insists that it is a way of making a living, and that he is "not guilty". Max then turns to the topic of Sally: he makes Paul admit that he failed her as a lover, resulting in her having an affair. As they ride on the carousel together, Max encourages Paul to admit to his guilt, telling him that the pain he feels due to the fallout with Sally is a natural part of being one with the universe, but that he should not wallow in his suffering. Outside the house, night has fallen. Paul picks up a shell on John's desk and drops it into the pool, claiming that he has "saved" the universe. His hallucinations become more intense and erratic; he feels that he is dying again, but John encourages him to touch his hand, and reaffirms that he is his friend. John leaves the room briefly to get some more apple juice for Paul; alone, Paul checks out a nearby closet, but feels claustrophobic inside it. Upon coming out, he sees what appears to be John, slumped over dead with a bloody gash on his head. This prompts Paul to flee the house... just as the real John returns with the juice. Running through the neighborhood, Paul sees the glare of a car's headlights as a group of assailants beating him with shovels. Finding himself in a suburban home, he turns on the living room TV to coverage of the ongoing Vietnam War. He then encounters one of the home's occupants, a little girl named Alexandra ( Caren Bernsen ), who he helps get a glass of milk. Alexandra's awakening father ( Tom Signorelli ) mistakes Paul for an intruder, prompting him to again take flight. Paul finds himself on Sunset Strip, where he is dazzled by the blinding neon lights and marquees. He then goes to a laundromat, where a lonely and sarcastic woman, Flo ( Barboura Morris ), is eating fried chicken. At first amused by Paul's strange mannerisms and the attention he gives her, Flo becomes enraged when he pulls her laundry out of a dryer (as he believes Sally to be trapped inside), and rushes to call the police. Paul seeks refuge in Bead Game, a go-go club run by John's friend Cash ( Dick Miller ). Recognizing that Paul is stoned, a waitress ( Luana Anders ) ominously warns him that people sometimes unintentionally kill themselves while tripping out. Enraptured by the sights and sounds of the club - particularly a duo of painted topless dancers ( Frankie Smith and Susan Walters ) and a band playing an improvisational rock tune - Paul's attention is broken when he notices Glenn. As he mills through the crowd to reach her, he spots two police officers, and flees from them through the back entrance as Glenn leaves the club. As his mind is bombarded with images of a massive love-in, Paul rushes to Max's mansion. Max assures Paul that John is alive, and that he has been looking for him. Paul confides to Max that he is afraid; Max's girlfriend, Lulu ( Katherine Walsh ), confirms Paul's feelings while sharing a brief, intimate moment with him. Describing the events that have transpired since John's "death" (and, in Max's words, separating "the facts from the trip"), Paul believes that the police are after him as a result of his encounters with Alexandra and Flo. Concerned that Paul might unintentionally lead the police to the mansion and bust him for the large quantities of drugs in his possession, Max advises Paul to go to a restaurant on the Strip, where John will pick him up. At the restaurant, Paul finds Glenn, who is elated to see him again. Paul tells her of his concerns about being caught by the police, but Glenn tells him that she "[doesn't] believe in police". Paul, feeling the effects of the LSD wearing off, fears that he is about to "lose something" (Sally); Glenn advises him to let his feelings go. She drives Paul to her beach-side house, during which he flashes back to earlier moments of his trip and the day (especially his meeting with Sally), and imagines himself being chased by the hooded riders onto Big Sur. Paul spends the final moments of his trip passionately making love with Glenn. The hallucinations and flashbacks intensify until Paul is corned by the riders, who finally unmask themselves to reveal Glenn and Sally. His trip finally over, Paul lets Glenn sleep as he walks onto her porch, and watches as the sun rises over the beach. Unexpectedly, his life now bares something of a resemblance to the fanciful April In Paris commercial he had been making the day before. We then hear a conversation he has with Glenn once she awakens: she asks Paul if he found the insight he was looking for; he tells her that he thinks he loves her, "and everybody else". Her tone turning more ambiguous, she tells him, "It's easy now. Wait 'till tomorrow"; in response, Paul says "Yeah, well... I'll think about that tomorrow". [The original theatrical prints end with Paul's image shattering like glass, as if to imply that his trip has permanently fractured his state of mind. In the Director's Cut, there is no such effect, leaving the audience to decide for themselves how Paul's trip has impacted him, and what he will do with his renewed capacity for love.]

Kate, 42, dressed down in a hoodie and leggings, carried her own shopping as she strolled through the car park at a farm shop

Footage emerged just hours after The Sun exclusively revealed Kate had spent Saturday shopping in Windsor and Sunday morning watching her children play sport.

It comes amid weeks of vile and bullying online behaviour where wild conspiracy theories have spread unchecked.

Brave Princess Kate has since revealed she was diagnosed with cancer - but has revealed she is getting stronger.

Some even refused to believe our front page yesterday, despite Wills and Kate having being spotted by members of the public.

The Sun last week called on the world to 'Lay Off Kate' after she was harshly criticised for editing her Mother's Day family photo.

'MADNESS OF SOCIAL MEDIA'

We have chosen to both report her appearance in yesterday's paper, and show the footage today, in a bid to bring an end to what the Palace has called the "madness of social media".

Despite appearing fit and healthy, the princess remains under medical guidance to keep off work until next month.

No date has yet been given for a return to public duty after her abdominal surgery more than eight weeks ago.

It is understood she will return to work when she is good and ready.

Princess Kate video shows she's recovering well & warms my heart, says The Sun's royal photographer Arthur Edwards

IT’S lovely to see Catherine looking so happy.

People keep asking me, ‘Where’s Kate? How’s Kate?’

These pictures are the answer. She’s obviously recovering well from the quite serious operation she had in January.

The images of her smiling really warm my heart and I’m sure millions of others will be so pleased to see the Princess out and about.

There have been so many rumours circulated about her on social media - but they can now be put to rest.

It was lovely to see William at Kate’s side. I bet other visitors to the farm shop couldn't believe their eyes when they walked in.

But I know the shop and it’s close to their home and sells wonderful produce.

Kate was really hammered by some for doctoring her Mother’s Day picture.

I really felt for her - she was just trying to produce a lovely picture of her family.

So it’s nice to see these wonderful images of her with a beaming smiling and clearly working her way back to full health.

Now I’m so looking forward to her getting back to life as a working Royal, when she’s fully ready. She’s been missed by millions.

The Sun revealed yesterday that the Princess of Wales was well enough to go shopping at Windsor Farm shop.

Nelson Silva, 40, who took the video, was shopping for steak when he spotted Kate and William in the bread aisle.

He told The Sun: "I noticed a couple choosing loaves of bread and the woman turned her face and I felt like I had seen the face before. It was familiar. I knew it from somewhere.

"Then William turned back and I thought 'hold on I know this person'. I said to the staff 'I think it's them' as I paid.

"I went to my car and as they came out of the shop I just filmed them. I think they walked out through a gate out of the grounds. They just vanished and I didn't see a car.

"I just wanted to share with my family footage and show just how normal they were."

He said the couple had obvious "chemistry" and "were super relaxed".

"I didn't feel like they were hiding who they were. But they didn't quite know how people would react because there has been this build-up about their whereabouts and I got the sense they just wanted to be swift in there.

"Kate looked happy and relaxed. They look happy just to be able to go to a shop and mingle. Kate looked relieved like it was a success going to a shop. It felt natural."

Another eyewitness who watched the footage said it was "exactly what I saw".

They added: "It's just a woman shopping with her husband on a Saturday afternoon just like thousands of other couples across the country.

"I'm delighted that she is well and everyone else can see her back on her feet enjoying life again."

On a busy weekend the princess also joined William to watch their children George, 10, Charlotte, 8, and Louis, 5, play sports together.

The first footage of Kate since Christmas Day shows the royal mum-of-three carrying a full shopping bag of goodies at the farm shop, just a mile from the Wales’ home at Adelaide Cottage , Windsor , on Saturday.

Princess Kate and William seemed like a normal couple... they were happy and relaxed, says witness who saw shopping trip

A DAD-of-one has told how he saw Princess Kate on a shopping trip with William.

Nelson Silva, 40, who took a video of the "relaxed" couple, was shopping for steak at the Windsor farm shop when he spotted Kate and William in the bread aisle.

DRESSED-DOWN

She was filmed on a mobile phone for several seconds walking side-by-side with her husband from the shop back towards the car park.

Kate, usually dressed in latest fashions for official royal occasions, still looked elegant in her weekend wear as she donned a black three-quarter zip hoodie and matching black leggings.

Providing a glimpse of Kate's regular weekend 'dress-down' look she also wore grey socks pulled up over the bottom of her trousers and black trainers.

Kate appeared to be in good spirits smiling and speaking to William as her hair blew in the wind.

Wills wore a beige baseball cap, paired with a black rain jacket, blue denim jeans and grey trainers.

The future King also carried his bag with goods in from the Windsor Farm Shop.

And The Sun's royal photographer Arthur Edwards has told how the footage has "warmed my heart" .

He added: "It's lovely to see Catherine looking so happy. People keep asking me, ‘Where’s Kate? How’s Kate?’

"These pictures are the answer. She’s obviously recovering well from the quite serious operation she had in January.

"The images of her smiling really warm my heart and I’m sure millions of others will be so pleased to see the Princess out and about.

"There have been so many rumours circulated about her on social media - but they can now be put to rest."

Kensington Palace maintains Kate is “doing well” and will offer only significant updates as she recovers.

She spent 13 nights in hospital after requiring major surgery to her abdomen on January 17 at The London Clinic .

The palace said at the time: "The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private."

But in the past two months the internet has become a cesspit of unfounded gossip.

Conspiracy theories, which are far too ludicrous to be repeated in The Sun, spread around the internet.

Earlier this month a palace spokesman blasted the "madness of social media".

Kensington Palace has always said she would be out of action until April.

It is now believed that Kate may return after her children's Easter school holidays in the middle of April.

SERIOUS SURGERY

It has been a difficult nine weeks since the princess was admitted to hospital.

William, 41, visited his wife every day in hospital and took time off work to help her settle back home at Adelaide Cottage.

He has been carrying on the school run in an effort to make life as normal as possible for his young family.

Kate spent half term school holidays in February at Anmer Hall , in Norfolk, with William and their children.

But speculation was rife after William pulled out of a thanksgiving service for his godfather at the start of the month citing a "personal matter".

A photograph taken by a paparazzi photographer showing Kate in the passenger seat of a car with her mum Carole at the wheel was printed on a US showbiz website.

Kate apologised 24 hours after releasing a family photograph with her three children to mark Mother's Day after it emerged she had edited.

The Photoshop mistake led to a torrent of abuse hurled online at the Princess of Wales.

The Sun understood the princess had been under pressure to produce the best picture she could, and led with the front page headline 'Lay Off Kate' .

Sources close to the couple have indicated that they have been affected by the vile social media lies.

Kensington Palace last night declined to comment.

Experts have said the sightings are a “great sign” and show the country how well she is doing in her three-month recovery process.

An onlooker spotted the “happy” Kate and Wills before capturing video.

They said: "When I went inside I looked around and noticed them. They all looked happy."

The Sun exclusively revealed her farm shop outing over the weekend – but no images were published of the trip at the time.

It comes after wild speculation and gossip about her health and whereabouts left Kate and Wills “devastated”.

'Lay off Kate'

THE Sun last week  led the way in defending Princess Kate  when she was being criticised from all angles over the edited photo saga.

Social media trolls were quick to attack the  future Queen over her editing  of a  Mother’s Day family picture .

Media critics also weighed in with their opinions alongside the idiotic conspiracy theorists, but  The Sun stood alone in saying: Lay off Kate.

Our front page blasted: "The furious attacks on the future Queen over her photoshopping of a Mother’s Day family picture are not just absurd.

"They now look like a bullying campaign against a devoted mum, recovering from a serious operation, who simply wanted to offer the public a perfect portrait of her and her kids.

"She meant well, made a mistake and fessed up. Fair enough.

"Now leave her alone to get over her op."

Royal expert Hugo Vickers spoke exclusively to The Sun and revealed Kate's short outings are a "good thing" and show the country she is doing well - adding cruel trolls are a "waste of time".

He said: "We love her dearly. She does a fantastic job, and it's a pity that people have taken this sort of attitude towards her.

"But supposing there could be, let's say, some moving footage of her walking around the garden with the children , I would have thought something like that.

"I mean a shopping expedition, a visit to a school match. These are all very positive things.

Leave her alone, let her get better at her own pace. We admire her and respect her. And why are we treating her as if she's some sort of a criminal for having, maybe, you know, tried to improve a photograph one way or another Hugo Vickers

"These are things which so-called normal parents do very regularly and totally. It's a thoroughly good thing.

"We don't need to know everything about Catherine. What we do long to know is that she's well and up and about and soon you know, taking her place again, because she is an enormous asset to the Royal Family, much loved and much respected."

It comes after Kate was embroiled in hurtful criticism over a Mother’s Day picture which she altered using Photoshop.

The royal was trolled online for her attempt to edit the snap with her kids.

Hugo said the public should "leave her alone" during what is understandably a fragile time.

He added: "The photograph was well received when it first came out, and then it was criticised later.

"But as the week went on, I think the general attitude suddenly over here in Britain and amongst intelligent people was, oh, come on, you know.

"Leave her alone, let her get better at her own pace.

"We admire her and respect her. And why are we treating her as if she's some sort of a criminal for having, maybe, you know, tried to improve a photograph one way or another.

"It was very unattractive what was done last week, but I think the sympathy is absolutely there.”

Palace  sources told  The Sunday Times  that Kate is keen to speak about her health battle — but only when she returns to frontline duties.

One friend said: “She and William are at their most open when out interacting with the public.

“I can see a world in which the Princess might discuss her recovery out on engagements.

“If she was going to do it, that’s how she would do it.

“They appreciate the public’s love and affection for their children and know there is a public appetite to see them on their birthdays.”

'KATESPIRACIES'

The friend said  Wills and Kate  had been “shaken” by the online hysteria over her health and the fallout over her Mother’s Day snap.

But they said the couple refused to be pushed into revealing details.

The pal added: “They will want to be clear and more open, but they’ll do it when they feel ready.

“I would expect that to be her instinct and it will be her call. They are not going to be rushed.”

Kate was discharged 13 days after her January operation.

But as she recuperated speculation grew online over her health.

It was stoked further when William pulled out of a memorial service last month.

“Katespiracies” have ranged from her getting cosmetic surgery to appearing as a contestant on The Masked Singer.

Title: trip: temporal residual learning with image noise prior for image-to-video diffusion models.

Abstract: Recent advances in text-to-video generation have demonstrated the utility of powerful diffusion models. Nevertheless, the problem is not trivial when shaping diffusion models to animate static image (i.e., image-to-video generation). The difficulty originates from the aspect that the diffusion process of subsequent animated frames should not only preserve the faithful alignment with the given image but also pursue temporal coherence among adjacent frames. To alleviate this, we present TRIP, a new recipe of image-to-video diffusion paradigm that pivots on image noise prior derived from static image to jointly trigger inter-frame relational reasoning and ease the coherent temporal modeling via temporal residual learning. Technically, the image noise prior is first attained through one-step backward diffusion process based on both static image and noised video latent codes. Next, TRIP executes a residual-like dual-path scheme for noise prediction: 1) a shortcut path that directly takes image noise prior as the reference noise of each frame to amplify the alignment between the first frame and subsequent frames; 2) a residual path that employs 3D-UNet over noised video and static image latent codes to enable inter-frame relational reasoning, thereby easing the learning of the residual noise for each frame. Furthermore, both reference and residual noise of each frame are dynamically merged via attention mechanism for final video generation. Extensive experiments on WebVid-10M, DTDB and MSR-VTT datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our TRIP for image-to-video generation. Please see our project page at this https URL .

South Dakota legislator calls for inquiry into Gov. Noem’s Texas dental trip and promo video

A Democratic legislator on Wednesday called for an inquiry into South Dakota Republican Gov. Kristi Noem’s trip to Texas for dental work and a promotional video in which she praises the doctors for giving her “a smile I can be proud of and confident in.”

State Sen. Reynold Nesiba said he initially found the nearly five-minute video to be simply odd. Later he considered other questions and asked the Republican co-chairs of the Legislature’s Government Operations & Audit Committee to put the matter on the panel’s next meeting agenda in July for discussion and questions.

“I just thought it was a very strange video about how much she enjoyed having her teeth done at that particular place,” said Nesiba, a member of the audit committee.

Nesiba said he wonders whether Noem used a state airplane or public funds for the Texas trip and whether the governor paid for the dental procedure or if it was discounted because of her video.

Noem’s office did not respond to questions Wednesday about the promotional video posted Monday night to her personal account on X in which she praised the dentists and staff at Smile Texas, a cosmetic dental practice in the Houston area.

Paxton was expected back in court Tuesday, March 26, 2024, and closer than ever before to standing trial on felony securities fraud charges that have shadowed the Republican for nearly a decade. (Jon Shapley/Houston Chronicle via AP, File)

In the video, Noem complimented the dentists that recently “gave me a smile I can be proud of and confident in.” Noem, who is seen as a potential vice-presidential pick by former President Donald Trump, identifies herself as the governor of South Dakota and includes clips of her speaking at a Republican Party event with Trump signs in the background.

A woman who answered the phone at Smile Texas cited privacy under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act in response to The Associated Press asking to speak with a member of the practice. When asked if Smile Texas plans to use Noem’s video for promotion, the woman said, “No, she posted that,” then hung up when asked again.

South Dakota law bans gifts of over $100 from lobbyists to public officials and their immediate family. A violation is a misdemeanor punishable up to a year in jail and/or a $2,000 fine. The state attorney general’s office declined to answer questions about whether the gift ban applies to people who are not registered lobbyists.

Noem’s video, in which the governor says she went to Smile because it was “the best,” comes at a time when South Dakota has spent $5 million on a workforce recruitment ad campaign in which she stars in TV spots portraying herself as a plumber, electrician, nurse and other high-demand workers. In one ad, Noem portrays a dentist in blue scrubs, speaking over a patient with a dental instrument in her hand amid the sound of a drill.

Nesiba said the dental promotion “just undermines the millions of dollars that we have invested in her as being a spokesperson for South Dakota.”

Paul Miskimins, a Republican former state legislator who practiced dentistry over 37 years in South Dakota, said he saw nothing wrong with Noem seeking care out of state, noting he had sought dental care from a friend in Canada. Miskimins added that celebrities often give testimonials about dental work, and he didn’t see why a public official couldn’t do the same.

“I think that this is America, and we all have a right to choose where we receive our care,” Miskimins said.

Noem has previously faced ethics questions, including an investigation in 2019 about her use of a state plane to attend six events outside of South Dakota hosted by political organizations, including the Republican Governors Association, Republican Jewish Coalition, Turning Point USA and the National Rifle Association. At the time, the governor’s office defended the trips as part of her work as the state’s “ambassador” to bolster the state’s economy.

Noem also was criticized for having family members join her on several trips. But her office has said that was keeping in line with a precedent set by former governors.

Ultimately, South Dakota’s ethics board dismissed the complaint over Noem’s flights to the political events in 2022 because state law doesn’t clearly define what is meant by “state business.”

But the state ethics board did say Noem may have “engaged in misconduct” when she intervened in her daughter’s application for a real estate appraiser license.

The governor intervened with a state agency after it had moved to deny her daughter’s application for an appraiser license in 2020. Noem had called a meeting with her daughter, the labor secretary and the then-director of the appraiser certification program where a plan was discussed to give the governor’s daughter, Kassidy Peters, another chance to show she could meet federal standards in her appraiser work.

Noem has said she followed the law in handling her daughter’s licensure and that Peters received no special treatment.

Voters re-elected her in 2022 with 62% of the vote.

Michael Card, an emeritus political science professor at the University of South Dakota, said he has no ideas about the governor’s motivation for the video but found it puzzling.

“It just seems unusual for an elected official in office to make an infomercial like that,” he said.

Dura reported from Bismarck, North Dakota, and Funk reported from Omaha, Nebraska.

Caitríona Balfe & Sam Heughan Get a Blast From the Past in New 'Outlander' Season 8 Set Video

The eighth and final season of 'Outlander' is now in production.

The Big Picture

  • Season 8 of Outlander is in production, wrapping up Jamie and Claire's epic love story.
  • The show has gained a loyal following and has now spawned a prequel series, which is also currently in production.
  • Outlander Season 7, Part 2 premieres in November 2024, and will be set during the American Revolution.

The final chapter of Jamie ( Sam Heughan ) and Claire Fraser's ( Caitríona Balfe ) epic love story is being written as Season 8 of the long-running Starz series Outlander is now in production. A behind-the-scenes short shared today confirmed that cameras are rolling on the final season , with the pair of stars walking through the history of the show together before they jump in front of the camera for the last time. Although there's still a long wait until the series's conclusion reaches screens everywhere, it gives a brief look behind the curtain at all the costumes and props utilized throughout the historical romantic drama's decade-long run.

Outlander began airing back in 2014 and opened in WWII-era Scotland with the medic Claire who is transported back in time to 1743 where she meets her highland warrior soulmate, Jamie. Together, the couple's love has endured through pivotal events in history, from the Jacobite rising to the American Revolution , only growing closer through each adventure they face. All the while, the series has gained a loyal following and become one of Starz's flagship titles, also earning a prequel series in the upcoming Outlander: Blood of My Blood which will follow Claire and Jamie's parents . With Season 8 of the parent series, the show will have adapted all nine of Diana Gabaldon 's released novels, ending with 2021's Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone .

Following some uncertainty with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes last year and other minor delays , things appear to be full-speed for the Outlander team as they likely aim for a 2025 release date for the final season . It's unclear at this time exactly who will be aboard for the final run, but Sophie Skelton , Richard Rankin , David Berry , Charles Vandervaart , and John Bell are all likely to reprise their roles based on the content of the books. Fresh faces and other returning names are sure to be announced as Season 8 approaches.

'Outlander' Returns With Season 7, Part 2 This Fall

News of the finale's production comes amid a lengthy Droughtlander between the two halves of Season 7. Part 2 is set to premiere in November 2024 , over a year since the Frasers last graced Starz. They'll pick up right as the American Revolution kicks into high gear , leaving the family in peril once again. With the introduction of William Ransom (Vandervaart), Jamie's secret son , the rest of the penultimate season will continue to dig into how the war pits fathers against sons and tears families apart . The ramifications of the war are likely to be felt by Claire, Jamie, and their allies into Season 8 , but only time will tell how they'll endure such a tumultuous period in history.

‘Outlander’ Season 8: Cast, Plot, and Everything We Know So Far

Check out our guide above for everything we know so far about Outlander 's 10-episode final season. While you wait for the series to return, see the behind-the-scenes Instagram video featuring Balfe and Heughan below.

Claire Beauchamp Randall, a nurse in World War II, mysteriously goes back in time to Scotland in 1743. There, she meets a dashing Highland warrior and gets drawn into an epic rebellion.
