Introducing Vogue World: New York, A Fashion Show And Street Fair Coming To NYFW

In celebration of its 130th anniversary, Vogue will present a live editorial fashion show, street fair and special surprises during New York Fashion Week next month. Vogue World: New York will be a first-of-a-kind event – featuring a runway show presenting our favourite looks from the autumn/winter 2022 collections, with pieces from Balenciaga, Dior, Gucci, Valentino, Burberry, Coach, Michael Kors, Brother Vellies, Bode, Conner Ives, Christopher John Rogers, Collina Strada, Matty Bovan, Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch and many other designers. In-person and virtual attendees will also have the chance to shop limited-edition pieces. The event will take place on 12 September.

In addition to the show, there will be a street-fair experience made up of Vogue -curated newsstands and limited-edition items created in partnership with leading brands. There will also be a shoppable selection of runway looks via partners including Moda Operandi, Mytheresa, Net-a-Porter, Nordstrom and Ssense.

“Fashion is changing and Vogue is doing something special to celebrate it – a fashion show-meets-street fair that captures the creative spirit of our community now,” says Anna Wintour, chief content officer, Condé Nast, and global editorial director, Vogue . “New York is the perfect place for this – a city that is as restless, as dynamic, and as revitalised as fashion is today.” 

For those not in New York, there are many ways to celebrate the event. On 12 September, viewers can tune into via a cinematic livestream on Vogue.com, the Vogue Runway app and Twitter. 

There is also an immersive augmented reality component, created in partnership with Snapchat, in which custom AR lenses allow viewers anywhere to “try on” looks from the show.

A. Entering Bids

To bid, find a lot page, enter a value in the bid box, and click “Bid.” If you click “Bid” on a lot, you will be prompted to either log in to your Charitybuzz account, or create a new one if you do not have one already.

Once you’ve created an account you will be presented with the lot details, conditions of sale, and standard shipping and redemption details. Once you have accepted the Conditions of Sale, you may proceed with placing a bid on that lot. All bids placed for any lot are governed by the Conditions of Sale for that lot.

You may bid at or above the starting bid displayed as the “Current Price” in a lot page’s bid box. The current leading bid, along with a list of a lot’s full bidding history, will be visible to other users. If the status of your bid changes, you will receive notifications via email and push (if you have the Charitybuzz App installed).

B. Cancellation Rights

As soon you place and confirm your bid amount, your bid is submitted. You accept and agree that bids submitted by you are final. Charitybuzz is not responsible or liable for any problems, delays, or other issues resulting from the use of the Internet, including but not limited to transmission, execution, or processing of Bids.

Charitybuzz nor the Seller is responsible for any errors in bidding. A bidder should make certain to bid on the correct lot. The Bidder should make sure the bid price they enter (including any taxes or fees) is the price they are willing and able to pay. Once the hammer has fallen and Charitybuzz has announced the winning Bidder, that Bidder is unconditionally bound to pay for that lot, even if the Bidder has made an error.

A bid(s) entered by mistake on the part of a bidder is NOT grounds for cancellation of that bid. Each bidder is responsible for his or her own account and bids. In addition, allowing access to another who enters a bid without your knowledge is NOT grounds for cancellation of a bid.

C. Fraudulent Bidding

All Bidders must meet Charitybuzz’s qualifications to bid. Any Bidder who is not a client in good standing of Charitybuzz may be disqualified at Charitybuzz’s sole discretion and will not be awarded lots. Such determination may be made by Charitybuzz in its sole discretion, at any time prior to, during, or even after the close of the Auction. Charitybuzz reserves the right to exclude any person from the auction.

Bids will not be accepted from minor persons under eighteen (18) years of age without a parent’s written consent containing an acknowledgement of the conditions herein and indicating their agreement to be bound thereby on behalf of the bidder.

If an entity places a bid, then the person executing the bid on behalf of the entity agrees to personally guarantee payment for any successful bid.

Any bidder that represents a purchaser is personally and individually responsible for any obligations of the purchaser set forth in these terms and conditions. All purchasers purchasing pursuant to a valid resale license will need to provide appropriate documentation for removal of state sales tax.

D. Winning & Disputes

The successful bidder is the highest bidder acknowledged by Charitybuzz. In the event of any dispute between bidders, or in the event of doubt on Charitybuzz’s part as to the validity of any bid, Charitybuzz will have final discretion either to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the lot in question. If any dispute arises after the sale, Charitybuzz’s sale record is conclusive. While Charitybuzz makes every effort to guarantee accuracy, in the event of an error, and a lot is accidentally declared sold by mistake, Charitybuzz reserves the right to cancel the sale and relist the lot in its sole discretion.

By accepting the Conditions of Sale, Bidder personally and unconditionally guarantees payment.

Title to any lot remains with the Seller, any secured party of the Seller, or assignee of Seller, as the case may be, until the lot is paid for in full by the Bidder. Charitybuzz reserves the right to require payment in full before delivering any lot to the successful bidder.

A maximum bid is a secret amount you enter, that represents the maximum amount you are willing to bid. It is higher than the current price and also higher than the next allowable minimum bid amount. If you enter a maximum bid, we’ll bid on your behalf up to that maximum bid amount in response to other bids, according to Charitybuzz’s bidding tiers.

The value and status of your maximum bid will be visible only to you, unless it is the leading bid.

Charitybuzz strongly encourages the use of Max Bids to increase your chances of winning.

When an auction reaches the final 10 minutes before it closes, any bids received in that final 10 minutes push out the previous close time by an additional 10 minutes. This recurring 10 minute extension is known as “Extended Bidding,” and is signified by a banner above the auction timer on the lot page.

This dynamically extending period is designed to protect against a practice commonly known as “sniping” or “last second bidding” where bidders attempt to enter a quick bid in the final seconds of an auction to secure a win before competing bidders have a chance to counter.

Live bids lots are a special type of auction lot on Charitybuzz. Live bid lots on Charitybuzz are paired with a real world, physical auction, where that real world auction is often scheduled to occur at a later date. You can distinguish Live Bid lots by the “Live Bid” label in the title of the lot, and additional description text at the start of the lots “Overview” tab.

In a Live Bid lot on Charitybuzz, a lot is created that is similar to any other auction lot on the site. These special lots last for similar amounts of time and bidding occurs normally by our users.

Things start to differ after a Charitybuzz Live Bid lot closes. After it closes and the winning bidder is chosen, that winning bidder’s bid amount or (if it exists) the max bid amount associated with that winning bid, are taken and entered into the associated real world auction. For example, if a bidder on Charitybuzz wins at $12,000 with an unrealized max bid of $15,000, then that $15,000 dollar amount is passed on into the real world auction.

Before the winning bidders bid or max bid amount is passed on, someone from Charitybuzz contacts that winner after the Charitybuzz lot closes and before the real world auction opens. This is to confirm if the bidder would like to increase their bid or max bid amount before it’s entered into the real world auction.

What happens during the real world auction? Each individual one may vary. Charitybuzz does not own or operate any real world auctions, nor does Charitybuzz require any partners to follow a specific auction model. We make no claims to the consistency of real world auction experiences and encourage bidders to contact us for more details as needed.

In our experience, real world auctions tied to Charitybuzz Live Bid lots are typically executed by our partners in a few common ways.

In one scenario, if an auction house and an auctioneer is present, winning live bids from Charitybuzz Live Bid lots are treated as “absentee” bids. This normally means that the Charitybuzz winning bid is placed in the auctioneers books as a bid. As the auctioneer conducts the auction, they will bring up and enter the Charitybuzz winning bid during the course of the auction as the current price or next minimum bid value approaches the Charitybuzz winner’s bid amount. In this scenario, other people in the real world room are expected to bid against the auctioneer, not the Charitybuzz winning bidder. If no one is bidding in the room, the auctioneer will typically keep bidding up the price until the Charitybuzz Live Bid winner wins the real world auction.

In other models, an audience member (including, but not limited to a charity partner employee) might act as a proxy for the winning Charitybuzz bidder. They will usually bid on behalf of the winning Charitybuzz Live Bid winner during the normal course of that auction, using whatever means provided for that auction house (i.e. paddles, etc.)

After the auction is completed, someone from Charitybuzz contacts our bidder to let them know the outcome. If that Charitybuzz Live Bid bidder has won, payment occurs as usual. If that Charitybuzz Live Bid bidder did not win, they will be notified accordingly.

A reserve bid is a bid placed by Charitybuzz on behalf of the seller up to the minimum reserve (if applicable). Bids placed by Charitybuzz on behalf of the seller up to the amount of the reserve, will be counted toward the total bid count displayed on the lot page’s bid box.

Refunds are rewarded on a case by case basis and at the sole discretion of Charitybuzz, LLC.

Experiences auctioned on Charitybuzz.com go through a specific redemption process to coordinate details and complete. That process normally involves messaging and scheduling between all parties (i.e. winners, charities, sellers, venues). Details discussed include but are not limited to experience dates, arrival procedures, airfare, hotel accommodations, restrictions, will-call requirements, and any other on-site notes. Scheduling requires an initial request sent by the customer, and a followup confirmation submitted by relevant redemption contacts.

By using Charitybuzz to bid and win lots, bidders agree to use the Redemption Center exclusively (where enabled) to message and schedule all experiences – doing so is a requirement of redeeming experiences through Charitybuzz. In addition, bidders agree that they are bound by all site terms of use and auction conditions of sale.

Getting your item - Items will either be shipped directly from Charitybuzz or from the item seller (Third Party) as indicated. Items shipping from Charitybuzz will be sent within five business days of payment settlement by the winning bidder. All third party items will be shipped within the times indicated on the lot page. Will Call Pickups - In some cases, tickets will be left at the venue’s “Will Call” window under the winner’s name. Winning bidders may be required to submit the names of attendees up to several weeks ahead of the event. A valid photo ID for each person listed at Will Call is often required. When available, Charitybuzz will attempt to provide an onsite point of contact, but makes no guarantee that this information will be available for any given lot. Will Call tickets are typically available at the Will Call window at least an hour before the event, unless otherwise specified. The Will Call window is usually located near the venue's main entrance.

After winning - Detailed redemption information will be emailed to the winning bidder. Redemption contact information will be emailed to the winning bidder within two business days of payment settlement by the winning bidder. The redemption contact will work with the winning bidder to fulfill the lot within the appearance times, time constraints, event dates or locations, and other particulars listed in the lot details.

Madonna invited Cardi B onstage in Los Angeles Monday night for the fifth and final performance of the singer’s Celebration Tour stop at the Kia Forum in Inglewood.

The Bronx rapper joined the Queen of Pop for a steamy performance during the show’s highly Instagrammable — and often NSFW — ballroom runway segment.

In what is typically one of the most talked-about moments of the show, Madonna brings a fellow celebrity to the stage to serve as a guest judge during a fierce dance-off while she performs her 1990 global hit “Vogue.”

The bit features Madonna’s dancers — including her 11-year-old daughter Estere — trying to impress the two judges sitting at the end of the stage.

Monday night, Madonna and Cardi B — wearing matching blonde wigs and a version of Madonna’s iconic cone-bras — expressed themselves by showing the dancers signs that read either the number “10” or the word “Chop.”

Former guest judges for the segment include Amy Schumer, Donatella Versace, Kelly Ripa, and even Santa Claus.

The “Hung Up” singer’s 12th concert tour, a celebration of her r ecord-breaking four-decade career, kicked off in London in October after a health scare forced the 65-year-old mother of five to delay its start by three months.

Last week, the multi-Grammy-winning singer reflected on her “near-death experience” during her first night at the Kia Forum, telling thousands of fans about a bacterial infection that forced her into a 48-hour medically induced coma: “It was pretty scary,” she said.

The 80-stop tour is officially set to wrap up in Mexico City on April 26. However, last week, Rio de Janeiro’s official tourism office, Visit Rio, told Brazilians to “get ready” for “a free and historic” show with Madonna at Copacabana Beach, adding the singer has chosen the city to wrap her international Celebration Tour.

The Woman Who Tried to Make Porn Safe for Feminism

How the archive of Candida Royalle, a porn star turned pioneering director, landed at Harvard — and inspired a new book challenging the conventional history of the sexual revolution.

Harvard’s Schlesinger Library is the nation’s leading repository for women’s history, home to the papers of suffragists and social reformers, poets and politicians, the collective behind “Our Bodies, Ourselves” and iconic figures like Amelia Earhart, Angela Davis and Julia Child.

But in its basement vaults, carefully preserved in a box, you can also find a rather different artifact: a costume from the 1978 pornographic comedy “Hot & Saucy Pizza Girls.”

The movie, starring John C. Holmes as a pimp who oversees a prostitution ring masquerading as a pizza delivery service, was history-making in its own way, as one of the earliest examples of what became a classic trope — porn with pepperoni . But the costume is at the Schlesinger because of another name on the bill: Candida Royalle.

Royalle, who died in 2015 , was a minor celebrity in her day. She was a porn star from the 1970s golden age who moved to the other side of the camera, producing feminist erotica that focused on female fantasies, and female audiences.

During the so-called sex wars of the 1980s, Royalle faced off against anti-porn feminists like Andrea Dworkin and Catharine MacKinnon, who dismissed women in the profession as stooges of the patriarchy. And in the 1990s, she became a godmother to the mediagenic sex-positive feminists riding feminism’s third wave.

Today, Royalle’s name may ring few bells. But her voluminous archive is now housed at Harvard, where the trove of diaries, letters, photographs, scrapbooks, videos and memorabilia is opening up a new window onto the sexual revolution.

That is the argument made by Jane Kamensky, the historian who spearheaded the acquisition of Royalle’s papers. In the new biography “Candida Royalle and the Sexual Revolution: A History From Below,” Kamensky puts Royalle at the center of an ambitious, ambivalent history that aims to unsettle any idea of a conflict with firm battle lines.

“She is way too critical and self-critical for many of the sex-positive feminists,” Kamensky said. “And she absolutely does not fit into an anti-pornography box.”

Royalle’s story, Kamensky said, “shows us that we have the wrong boxes.”

Kamensky, a leading scholar of the American Revolution who recently left Harvard to become president of Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, is not the person you would expect to write the biography of a conflicted late-20th-century porn queen.

But the sexual revolution may not be wholly different from that 18th-century political struggle, which divided would-be Americans against each other — and within themselves — far more than we remember today.

“It’s a struggle of ideas, but also a struggle with people’s bodies on the line,” Kamensky said. “And every gain is alloyed with loss.”

‘Is There an Archive?’

In the 1990s, as a vogue for porn studies swept some corners of the humanities, Royalle made appearances on college campuses, marveling at her climb “from slut-drug addict to politically correct successful entrepreneur spokeswoman for women’s sexuality,” as she wrote in her diary.

Still, when Kamensky came across her obituary in September 2015, she had never heard of Royalle. Kamensky was a few weeks into a new job as faculty director at the Schlesinger, with an eye toward expanding its holdings beyond its predominantly upper-middle-class, liberal, educated, “Acela corridor” purview, as she put it. Reading about Royalle, she wondered, “Is there an archive?”

Two months later, Kamensky was passing out business cards at Royalle’s memorial in New York, where hundreds of guests paid tribute and snacked on cherry tomatoes from her garden.

Royalle’s executor was Veronica Vera , a Wall Street trader turned journalist (and sometime Robert Mapplethorpe model), who, since 1989, has run a downtown Manhattan outfit called Miss Vera’s Finishing School for Boys Who Want to Be Girls. She had become close with Royalle in 1983, after a baby shower where she and a group of other women in the sex industry, including Annie Sprinkle, Veronica Hart and Gloria Leonard, shut down the party dancing together to “West Side Story.”

They started meeting regularly as Club 90 (named after Sprinkle’s street address), sometimes described as the first porn star support group, which also staged self-aware performances at downtown arts spaces. And when Royalle fell ill with ovarian cancer, they rallied to tend her and her legacy.

When the Schlesinger came calling, Vera asked why the library wanted the archive. Kamensky explained that it already had the papers of Dworkin, MacKinnon and the group Women Against Pornography , and wanted “the other side.”

“That was very meaningful to me,” Vera said. “For so long, it’s always the anti-porns that get quoted and the people that actually work in the industry are left out.”

Since arriving at the Schlesinger, the Royalle papers have become an “anchor,” as Kamensky put it, for additional sex-positive acquisitions , like the archives of Club 90’s other founding members and the papers of Jeanette Zinkan (a.k.a. Mistress Antoinette), a clothing designer who helped popularize polyvinyl chloride fetish wear.

In 2017, Kamensky taught a research seminar, Feminisms and Pornography, with Janet Halley, an expert on feminist legal theory at Harvard Law School. Beforehand, she invited Halley to look through some of the Royalle collection, which had started arriving.

“You would take stuff out of a box and glitter would fall all over,” Kamensky recalled. “This was not the papers of Betty Friedan.”

Dreams of Being Famous

One morning last December, the library’s curator for gender and society, Jenny Gotwals, and a senior archivist, Mark Vassar, had laid out a sampling of the archive.

There was no loose glitter and no pizza, saucy or otherwise. But there was a mannequin in a staff jacket from High Society, the pornographic magazine for which Royalle was a columnist in the 1980s, and a suggestively shaped award trophy for “Hottest Group Sex Scene.”

But mostly, the tables were covered with diaries, letters, scrapbooks, photographs and ephemera that Royalle — “a budding archivist” even as a child, Kamensky writes — had carefully preserved.

Royalle was born Candice Vadala in 1950 into a Catholic working-class family on Long Island. Her father, Louis, was a professional jazz drummer who was given to rages. When Candice was 2, her mother left the family. Candice never saw her again.

Louis remarried, and the family eventually settled in the Bronx, where Candice started her first diary on New Year’s Day, 1962.

The small red leatherette volume, complete with flimsy brass lock, is full of entries about girlish crushes and family fights, usually illustrated with a drawing of her outfit that day. But in an entry from September 1963, she describes a sexual assault in a park near the family apartment, accompanied by another drawing.

“I had my liatard on thank God!” she wrote, misspelling “leotard.” “It’s horrid riding in a police car!”

Candice and her sister were also preyed on by their father, who exposed himself to them and demanded “lover” kisses. He read their diaries, sometimes adding lewd comments and propositions — some still visible, Kamensky notes, despite his effort to erase them.

Archival ethics can be tricky, even when there’s no sex involved. How much right does a researcher have to publish the most intimate and traumatic details of people’s lives?

Writing during her final illness, Royalle wondered if her journals and photographs would “end up in junk stores & flea markets,” where strangers would “paw at my memories without even knowing my name.” But it wasn’t a “burn this” moment, Kamensky said.

“I think she feels deep ambivalence about parts of her work and her world,” Kamensky said. “And yet she documented it.”

Vera, the executor, who is currently preparing her own archive to send to the Schlesinger, agreed.

The diaries “seemed to be written with the idea that someone was going to read them later,” Vera said. “There was this idea she was going to be famous.”

As a girl, Royalle studied ballet and dreamed of being a “famous dancer,” as she wrote at age 11, in a letter to her future self, titled “My Secret Desires.” In 1972, after leaving the City College of New York, she went to San Francisco, where she worked odd jobs and performed with avant-garde troupes like the Angels of Light, an offshoot of the anarchic drag collective the Cockettes .

In elaborate scrapbooks collaged with photographs and psychedelic drawings, Royalle — a name she started using in 1974 — records her desire to make it as an artist. Like others in her circle, she dabbled in escorting and nude modeling to pay the bills, and shot a few loops — short, blunt films that played on repeat in X-rated arcades.

In 1975, she scored a part in “The Heartbreak of Psoriasis,” a musical starring Divine, which she hoped would be her big break. It closed after three performances. In her diary, she declared herself “a failure once & for all.”

“No more middle of the road” stuff, she wrote. “If you’re not gonna do straight legitimate theater you’re gonna have to shock ’em.”

In the months after, she shot seven loops and two X-rated features. And porn, as Kamensky put it, “is a door she walks through that turns out to swing only one way.”

Kamensky’s account of Royalle’s years in Los Angeles, where she moved in 1976 hoping to break into “real” acting, evokes the rollicking golden age of porn captured in the movie “Boogie Nights.” She had a brief appearance in an orgy scene in Blake Edwards’s “10,” where she was credited as “third female sex performer.” But mostly she made porn, ultimately appearing in nearly 50 films.

Her diary entries from those years are edged with both pleasure in her beauty and power and despair at feeling stuck. During a 1980 tour of strip clubs, she wrote: “Each time I know I have to go onstage soon I feel like screaming and crying.”

That year, Royalle and her new husband, the son of a Swedish pornography producer, moved to New York, where she started writing for the booming sex press, sometimes critiquing the sexist clichés of hard-core pornography. In 1984, she and Lauren Niemi founded Femme Productions, with the goal of making woman-centered films intended for couples, who could now watch porn from the intimacy of the bedroom, thanks to the VCR. Femme’s first release did not include a single “external male orgasm,” as Kamensky puts it.

The venture put Royalle in collision with the rising anti-porn feminists, who had allied with conservative politicians. Kamensky describes a chaotic 1985 episode of “Donahue,” where Royalle and other pro-sex feminists debated MacKinnon , who icily declared that their attempts at enlightened pornography had “failed.”

Royalle’s archive includes plenty of mail from grateful women, like one who wrote under her husband’s name on Muppets stationery and another who reported watching Femme films with her mother. But the company struggled financially, while the mainstream industry became, Royalle lamented, “a trash heap of over-the-top extremities of the most violating acts.”

And a new type of empowered, media savvy porn queen, to her dismay, was ready for it. Kamensky quotes Royalle’s bitter frustration at Jenna Jameson, whose 2004 tell-all, “How to Make Love Like a Porn Star,” reportedly sold 150,000 copies in one month.

A few years later, Royalle made notes for a memoir called “Sexualized No More: My Journey In and Out of the Porn Business.”

“No publisher,” Kamensky writes, “wanted that book.”

There are many unprintable words in Kamensky’s book, but few as charged as the V-word: victim.

For anti-porn campaigners, women in the sex industry were victims of brainwashing, or worse. MacKinnon, a lawyer, at one point represented Linda Lovelace , the star of “Deep Throat,” who said that her husband had forced her to appear in the film at gunpoint.

Kamensky describes how one of Royalle’s friends suggested she call the biography “From Victim to Victor.” But in truth, Kamensky writes, “she was always both.”

These days, you can pay $9.95 to stream Femme titles like “Three Daughters,” a tastefully upscale tale that Time magazine called “a cross between ‘Debbie Does Dallas’ and ‘The Waltons.’” Or you can just go to porn sites, where a search for “Candida Royalle” yields free slices of “Hot and Saucy Pizza Girls,” along with a clip labeled “Weird Retro Orgy.”

Today, Kamensky said, “you can see much of her career in exactly the way she would want least.”

But how we see her life story is a different question. Vera said she hoped the biography would further Royalle’s goal of “expanding what a feminist is.”

Royalle herself never stopped her inner explorations. In 2013, during her final illness, she wrote in her journal: “Still trying to unlock the key to myself.”

An And Just Like That… Guide to New York City

Has there ever been a fictional character with a more glamorized lifestyle than Carrie Bradshaw? She’s worn designer bags as well as shoes that have sold out immediately afterwards, made Magnolia Bakery world-famous, and, this past summer, even had a pop-up “experience” dedicated to her in an empty space in SoHo. One doesn’t need to “couldn’t-help-but-wonder” why: Carrie made being single and living in New York seem like an endless, well-dressed adventure, where carriage rides in Central Park with romantic millionaires, fabulous parties in Tribeca, and trips to the Vogue closet were always in reach. So when visiting New York City, it’s always fun to see the sites that made up her fantasy.

Many of the places featured in Sex and the City have closed since the show ended in 2004 (RIP Barneys). However, as And Just Like That season two airs on HBO, a new set of hotspots serve as the setting for Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte—as well as new additions Lisa, Nya, and Seema’s—escapades.

Below, an And Just Like That guide to New York City.

After an initial address mixup, Carrie and Aiden reunite at Benoit, the Michelin-starred Alain Ducasse restaurant. This year, Benoit is celebrating its 15th-year anniversary—an accomplishment for any business, especially one in the notoriously difficult New York City hospitality field.

It’s as close as one can get to a classic French bistro this side of the Atlantic: their onion soup is divine, as is its escargot. Although And Just Like That didn’t show what Carrie and Aiden got for dessert, we’d like to imagine it was their famous chocolate soufflé.

Whereas Sex and the City saw Carrie and co going to an adventurous array of watering holes to pick up men—who remembers the fireman calendar contest on Staten Island?— And Just Like That… shows Seema, Nya, and Carrie going to the bar five-star Baccarat Hotel. (Seema assures the crew it’s “ the place to meet single men”—and she’s right, they do.) The 60-foot bar offers fine wines and exquisitely crafted cocktails, all served in Baccarat Crystal and under Baccarat chandeliers.

Seema has a disastrous lunch with Zed and his ex-wife at Daniel, Daniel Bouloud’s two-Michelin-starred restaurant in Midtown. It’s one of New York’s most critically acclaimed and fanciest eateries—the main dining room serves a four-course prix-fixe menu or a seven-course tasting menu–however, for more casual a la carte dining, you can sit in their lounge.

Herbert and Lisa have drinks at The Mark Bar to celebrate being child-free after they send their kids off to summer camp. Designed by Jacques Grange, the room’s cow print couches have always attracted a glamorous Upper East-side set looking to grab martinis after work.

Charlotte is horrified to find her daughter, Lily’s, Chanel dress on “The Real Deal” during lunch at Le Coucou with Lisa. Even worse—it’s on sale. (“I think that’s Lagerfeld’s last collection,” Lisa says, rubbing salt in the wound.) The tell-tale sign? The 18th century-inspired mural by New York-based painter Dean Barger, which you can spy in the background. The interior design as a whole was carried out by the critically acclaimed firm Roman and Williams.

“Juan Jose was my longest relationship: Ten years of blowouts and confidences,” Seema laments to Carrie about her hardest breakup—her hairdresser. In the background is the distinctive blue bar of Kyu, the Asian-fusion restaurant in NoHo known for its salmon crispy rice, Mongolian pork belly, and coconut cake. (In addition to New York, they also have locations in Miami and Mexico City.)

Herbert Wexley brags to his wife, Lisa, that he got a reservation for Valentine’s Day at Monkey Bar: (“I just got us a table at Monkey Bar,” he says. “Let’s just say that Henry is no longer going to college.”) And with good reason: it’s one of the hardest-to-get reservations in town after reopening in 2022 under the team behind 4 Charles. (The Midtown restaurant has been around since 1936, but closed during the pandemic.) The Art-Deco dining room is best known for its Ed Sorel mural, which depicts Jazz Age icons.

Seema and Carrie go to get Valentine’s Day massages at The Well, the 13,000 square foot Flatiron spa that has an impressive crowd of devotees ranging from social media influencers to CEOs thanks to its East-meets-West medicinal approach. (An example? A facial that combines Biologique Recherche products with acupuncture.)

When Carrie meets Aiden’s ex-wife for coffee, she does so at La Mercerie, the French restaurant in SoHo that also doubles as a furniture store and flower shop, among many things. The brainchild of Roman and Williams—who also designed another restaurant on this list, Le Coucou—it’s known as an easygoing yet elevated hotspot in the bustling downtown neighborhood. “We knew we wanted it to be a place where people could spend the day,” co-founder Robin Standefer told Vogue in 2017 . “That’s why we decided to have a café, a bookstore, and flowers.

“Look at all this gorgeous glass!” Charlotte coos in the middle of the Tin Building, Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s 53,000-square-foot food emporium housed in the old Fulton Fish Market. The ladies also have brunch at Seeds and Weeds, its aptly named vegetarian restaurant. To drop a familiar name, the Tin Building was also designed by Roman and Williams.

After selling an Alex Israel painting, Charlotte celebrates at Chapel Bar—perhaps a little too hard: She returns to her Upper East Side apartment drunk and without her phone. (She thinks she left it in a pitcher of margaritas.) The space, which is now part of the Fotografiska Museum, has a fascinating history: Built in the 1860s by James Renwick Jr.—the same architect behind St. Patrick’s Cathedral—the small brownstone chapel originally served as a chapel for the seminary next door. Several years later, the building became a school for girls. By the late 1900s, it had fallen into disrepair. Yet by the late 2010s, the building had attracted a new investor: notorious fraudster Anna Delvey, who eyed it for her members club that, uh, never materialized.
