Best Caribbean Destinations For Yacht Charters

These caribbean yacht charters are the best way to island hop..

Planning to island hop? A sailing charter through the Caribbean is the best way to do it. Not only will you hear the calming sounds of the ocean waters gently splashing against the sides of your chartered yacht, but you'll do so in luxury, style and comfort. Combine that with the joy of discovering someplace new, and you have a Caribbean sailing charter that won't soon be forgotten.

Wander through the lush, tropical environments of the Spanish Virgin Islands. Or consider hiking a volcano on St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Ever wanted to try a true painkiller, straight from the source? Head to Jost Van Dyke's White Bay and its Soggy Dollar Bar.

Here are some of the best Caribbean charter destinations that will take you through some of the lushest islands and hidden gems.

The British Virgin Islands

The British Virgin Islands

Often thought of as the boating capital of the Caribbean, the British Virgin Islands are paradise found. Snorkel tiny coves cradled within leafy, castaway cays, or hit the popular Virgin Gorda Baths or Norman Island Indians. Palm-shaded hammocks await on Jost Van Dyke's White Bay, home to the Soggy Dollar Bar and its famous Painkillers .

Considering a bareboat yacht charter? The British Virgin Islands is the place to begin, as the protected waters of the Sir Francis Drake Channel are ideal for novice sailors. It's easily one of the best destinations to book Caribbean yacht charters.

The Windward Islands - St. Vincent and the Grenadines

The Windward Islands: St. Vincent and the Grenadines

Mesmerizing in their beauty with a rich French-English-Creole heritage, the 40-mile island chain known as the Windwards are verdant and tropical. With beautiful, secluded anchorages, the volcanic islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines are all fairly close together so you're never out of sight of land.

Hike La Soufrière, a volcano on spectacular Bequia, pick up a mooring on secluded Petit Mustique, or snorkel the prolific waters of Tobago Cays Marine Park. Caribbean yacht charters often begin on either St. Lucia or St. Vincent.

The Leeward Islands - St. Martin, Anguilla, St. Barts, St. Kitts and Nevis

The Leeward Islands: St. Martin, Anguilla, St. Barts, St. Kitts, Nevis

Ninety miles east of the British Virgin Islands, the Leeward Islands are a mix of 18th-century colonial history, European heritage and laid-back Caribbean charm. For more traditional island hopping, boaters can easily spend a week traveling between St. Martin, Anguilla and St. Barts.

Visit the vibrant Creole market in Marigot, St. Martin's French capital, anchor at Colombier on the quiet tip of glamorous St. Bart's, and snorkel Pelican Point in Aguilla's Crocus Bay. With 10 days, add stops on the unspoiled rainforest islands of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The Spanish Virgin Islands

Best Caribbean Islands for Sailing Charters | Culebra Puerto Rico

While everyone else makes plans to hit the well-known Caribbean yacht-charter destinations, you can escape the hullabaloo in the Spanish Virgin Islands. Just six miles southeast of Puerto Rico, the Spanish Virgin Islands are mellow and laid-back in the way the British Virgin Islands were 30 years ago.

This lesser-known tropical eden is made up of Vieques and Culebra along with tiny islets and cays like Isla Culebrita, Isla Palominos and Cayo Luis Peña. Spend a day lounging on Culebra's secluded Bahia Tortuga, stroll along the Malecon waterfront in vibrant Esperanza on Vieques, or take an evening kayak tour through the bioluminescent waters of Puerto Mosquito.

Things to know before visiting the Gili Islands

Apr 21, 2024 • 6 min read

Boat at Sunset in Gili Islands, Indonesia

Whichever island you're on, head to the west coast for the best sunset views © Marcos Welsh / Getty Images

As far as tiny, picturesque islands go, the Gili Islands have it all and then some. Glassy waters full of colorful marine life, local tradition and culture, a rowdy nightlife scene, and also plenty of places to completely relax under the sun – it's the real deal.

These three islands – Gili Trawangan , Meno and Air – are generally safe and fairly easy to navigate. As a first-time visitor though, you'll want a quick travel guide on a few specifics regarding trip planning, respectful etiquette, and safety before you arrive.

Take note of these 11 tips for a smooth journey around the Gili Islands.

people waiting for a horse drawn cart on Gili Islands indonesia

1. Pack light, or at least skip the giant suitcase

We've been there and witnessed it: giant suitcases piled into the back of the Gili boats, later being lugged around on dusty laneways by sweaty, regretful travelers under the hot sun. Trust us on this one: packing light is the way to go for the Gili Islands. Either leave your suitcase at accommodations in Bali or use a service such as Bali Store Luggage to take care of it while you're island hopping. Between the logistics of getting on and off the Gili boats, plus the fact that the Gili Islands don't have any motorized vehicles – you're much better off bringing only what's comfortable to carry on your back.

2. Decide how to split your time between the three islands (or just wing it)

Whether you enjoy a quick weekend getaway or slowly move through all three islands over the course of a week, deciding how to split your time in advance is advantageous. Each island brings a different personality, with Gili Trawangan being notorious for parties and nightlife. Gili Meno, in the middle, draws a more laidback crowd – those seeking tranquility (and a decent number of honeymooners). To the east, Gili Air falls somewhere in the middle of the chill scale, where it's easy to bliss out in silence or get social at one of the island's many cheerful beach bars.

Even though the islands are small, you can have a completely different experience depending on where you go and what you do. Plan accordingly.

3. Team up with other travelers to share boats between islands

It's possible to take public boats between all three Gili Islands, but they don't run very frequently – usually just a couple times per day – and plans are subject to change. If you're looking to travel on the fly, or completely on your own schedule, the best way to move between the Gili Islands is to team up with other travelers and share a private boat transfer. Walk down to the port and chat up some of the friendly boatmen waiting for your business, preferably with a friend or two to split the cost. Expect to pay around 300,000Rp for the entire boat for a one-way, depending on your negotiation abilities.

4. Dress and behave respectfully

While you explore the Gili Islands, you might encounter a few signs that say "no swimwear in the village" – or simply a picture of a bikini with a big red no symbol on top of it. Most residents of the Gili Islands are Muslim, and dressing modestly is important for traveling respectfully. There's no issue rocking swim trunks or a bikini when you're actually at the beach – but cover up when you're heading inland, especially when passing through residential areas. Keep a big t-shirt and sarong in your bag, and you'll be good to go.

5. Check the calendar for any holidays

There are two holidays to be aware of, both bring different experiences in the Gili Islands: Ramadan, a Muslim holiday, and Nyepi, a Balinese holiday. Ramadan is usually around March or April where people fast from sunrise to sunset each day for a month. You can still travel to the Gili Islands, but be advised that some businesses will close earlier and parties are limited during this time. During Nyepi, Bali's day of silence which typically falls the first or second week of March, the entire island shuts down – leading many travelers to head to the Gili Islands where businesses remain open. This can make things pretty busy for two or three days over Nyepi.

6. Lock up your bicycle when you're not using it

You won't find any motorized vehicles on the Gili Islands, where the best method of transportation is either via foot or bicycle. Petty theft isn't all that common – but locking your bike whenever you're not using it is a best practice just in case. Insurance for bike theft isn't really a thing here, so if someone were to roam off with it, you'd be on the hook for covering the cost. Most folks simply put the lock around their tire rather than fastening it to a stationary object.

7. Always drink purified water

Tap water is not safe for consumption across Indonesia so always only drink water you’ve either purified yourself; you have purchased in a sealed bottle; or have refilled your reusable from a clean water source to stay hydrated. A lot of people brush their teeth with the tap water without experiencing any issues, but if you're really concerned, use bottled water for that too.

8. Watch out for mosquitos

Catching dengue fever is the biggest risk from mosquito bites here – not to mention uncomfortable itchiness. Mosquitos are a year-round experience in the Gili Islands, slightly less so during the dry season from roughly June until October. The best way to prevent bites or mosquito-induced illness is by preparing yourself with bug spray, especially around dusk.

9. Drugs are illegal in Indonesia

You might've heard stories of magic mushrooms in the Gilis from other travelers – and it's true, several beachside cafes openly advertise the sale of magic mushrooms despite the fact that Indonesia has strong anti-drug laws. It's not uncommon to get offers for "magic shakes" or mushrooms while walking on the street, either. Do beware: Indonesia has extremely strict laws against illicit substances, including mushrooms.

Intoxication or possession is punishable by lengthy imprisonment (or worse!). According to Indonesia's tourism board , "Possession is punishable by 4 to 12 years of imprisonment. There is also IDR 800 million to 8 billion (US$89,600 to US$896,000) worth of fines."

Beer at sunset on Pulau Island Gili Meno

10. Stick to beer and wine if you want to drink

Throughout the years, there have been countless reports of travelers in Indonesia becoming ill due to methanol poisoning from alcoholic spirits. The consumption of this illegal tainted alcohol – which has occurred even in fancy, upscale resorts – can cause severe illness, blindness, or even death. Methanol-tainted alcohol is typically the result of cost cutting, oftentimes far earlier in the supply chain before bars and restaurants have any say in the matter. The safest way to get a buzz is by drinking beer or wine, so load up on the Bintang beers or get champagne tipsy all day long.

11. Head west for sunset

When the fiery sun begins to descend closer to the horizon, make your way west. Regardless of whether you're on Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, or Gili Air – the best sunset views are on the west coast, accompanied by views of Bali's towering Gunung Agung volcano off in the distance. It's the best way to slip into the evening, typically accompanied by sherbet-colored hues in the sky and good vibes.

IPS plans to transfer school building to charter network in unique facilities deal

The front entrance of a high school.

Sign up for Chalkbeat Indiana’s free daily newsletter to keep up with Indianapolis Public Schools, Marion County’s township districts, and statewide education news.

Indianapolis Public Schools hopes to renew its agreements with three KIPP Indy charter schools that are part of the district’s network of autonomous Innovation schools, although officials have identified some academic areas needing improvement.

Additionally, in a unique collaboration between charters and IPS, the school board will vote Thursday on a plan to transfer ownership of the Julian Coleman School 110 building to KIPP Indy . IPS would also provide $10 million for a building expansion at the site, with the remainder of the cost to be covered by KIPP Indy.

The report by IPS officials recommends renewing its Innovation Network agreements with Unite Elementary, KIPP College Prep Middle School, and KIPP Legacy High School. Their renewals, which the full board will vote on Thursday, would last for five years. The schools’ state exam results and other academic indicators were mixed when compared with similar schools and IPS as a whole, the report found.

The transfer of the School 110 building, where Unite Elementary and College Prep are located, represents a striking collaboration between IPS and local charters. That’s because school facilities have frequently been the subject of disputes between the two parties. In recent years, IPS enrollment has dipped and the district has closed several schools, while charters in general have sought new space as their enrollment has grown.

KIPP Indy officials say the building addition will provide space for a school that has long offered a stable educational option in a community where multiple schools have closed. Right now, the building is operating at 140% of capacity.

The two schools in the building serve around 1,100 students combined.

Both IPS and KIPP Indy officials say the agreement represents a strong collaborative partnership.

“IPS is going to leverage unique sources that they have access to to invest, and we’re going to work hard on our end to identify resources as well,” KIPP Indy Executive Director Andy Seibert told Chalkbeat, referring to the agreement for the School 110 building. “And together we’ll do it.”

KIPP hopes for more classrooms, common areas

The School 110 building, which was rated in poor condition based on an analysis of district facilities , is already set to receive roughly $18.5 million in capital improvements funded through the referendum that voters passed last year .

That funding will cover deferred maintenance needs such as electrical and mechanical updates, roof repairs, gym improvements, and new flooring.

But Seibert hopes the proposed building expansion will add about 10 classrooms and more common spaces like a “cafenasium” — a combined gym and cafeteria. He anticipates construction to begin in the spring of 2025.

Plans and details of the building addition — including its total size, layout, and number of stories — have not yet been finalized. KIPP Indy would need to meet several obligations — including operating at at least 50% capacity and remaining in good standing with its authorizer — in order to be eligible to retain building ownership.

Math, English, and literacy results are mixed

The IPS staff report on the three schools’ academic performance found some areas where they outperform their peers, but other areas where they fell behind.

At Unite Elementary, the percentage of students reaching proficiency in both the math and English section of the state’s 2022-23 ILEARN exam was just above the average proficiency rates of schools with similar demographics, the report said. Proficiency for Unite’s Black and Hispanic students, in particular, was higher than similarly situated schools.

Yet the school’s IREAD proficiency rates fell below the average of comparative schools for both the 2022-23 and 2021-22 school years.

ILEARN proficiency rates at College Prep are also lower than the comparison school average, including for Black students.

Suspensions at both Unite Elementary and College Prep are also higher than the district and comparison school averages.

Seibert acknowledged a need for improvement, but said he hopes the network’s track record in student growth will lead to increases in proficiency.

Legacy High School, too, has a graduation rate higher than the IPS and statewide average.

Brian Dickey, the district’s executive director of portfolio strategy, pointed to the elementary and middle school’s increasing enrollment as a positive.

“The overall sustainability from an enrollment standpoint I think is just a testament to the work that the leadership, the board, has put in to building that trust within the community,” he told the IPS school board Tuesday.

KIPP Indy’s Innovation agreement with IPS is the first to come before the board since lawmakers changed how much the district can charge Innovation schools for goods and services.

It also comes as the district prepares to lose an estimated $4 million in property tax revenues to charter schools under another state law passed last legislative session.

KIPP Indy’s renewal agreements say IPS will provide transportation for Unite and College Prep students who live in Zones 2 and 3 of the district’s new enrollment zones. IPS will also provide districtwide transportation for Legacy High School.

The plan to transfer ownership of the School 110 building dovetails with the district’s expected renewal of its Innovation Network agreements with KIPP Indy.

Kings Island is more than an amusement park. It's the reason I have my family

island charter trips

Few places give adults the same magic feeling they felt when they were kids.

For me, Kings Island takes me back to 10-year-old David. The distant sound of cheers. The smell of funnel cakes. The rush I feel when riding Diamondback or The Beast .

But the 52-year-old amusement park is more than an adrenaline destination for me.

It's part of my family's story.

My favorite childhood park

I first visited Kings Island when I was about 4 years old. It instantly became one of my favorite places in the world. I made my grandfather ride The Racer with me four times, twice frontward and twice backward . That was when they actually had the backward facing coaster.

My family and I then made the park a regular hangout spot during the summer. We'd spend weekends there. I'd go there with classmates. Friends would take me with their families or vice versa.

It was the anticipation I felt pre- Drop Zone (I refuse to call it Drop Tower) . Or the competitive juices that flowed when my friends and I competed in the 3-point shootout. We always wanted to win a jersey but never could.

Those were among the experiences that brought me back.

It also made tough days better.

I was on a Kings Island trip during LeBron James' infamous "Decision" special in 2010. As a big Cleveland Cavaliers fan , I failed in my search for a TV. So I snuck into a bathroom and called my friend, who then put his phone next to his TV's speaker (this was pre-FaceTime).

"I'm going to take my talents to South Beach and join the Miami Heat," I heard James say, as I huddled in a corner next to a trash can.

I hung up the phone, crushed. But I at least eased the pain with some blue ice cream .

The trip that changed everything

One trip during my freshman year of high school changed my life forever.

My buddies and I went to Kings Island on a Saturday in May. I had a youth group event at my church the day before and learned one of my church friends was also going with her school the same day.

Her name was Macey. We had been friends for a while but never actually spent time together outside of our friend group at church.

She didn't even hang out with her classmates that day, choosing to ride rides with me and my friends instead.

And we had ourselves a time, screaming on Delirium . Eating snacks. She playfully picked on me while on The Beast.

Our friendship started feeling ... different.

My friends said they could tell we liked each other, which hadn't crossed my mind before. I previously "talked" to her best friend (you know, the term us millennials used for pre-dating). She did the same with my cousin.

But we started texting more after that trip. We had more inside jokes, and spent more time with each other over our friends.

Weeks later, we were dating.

Kings Island's special place in my heart

May 14, 2024, will mark 13 years since that trip. May 27 will be the 13th anniversary of when Mace became my girlfriend and our eighth wedding anniversary.

After that day in 2011, we continued visiting Kings Island, reliving that fateful day our lives changed.

My mom used to get us season passes for Christmas every year. When we moved to Cincinnati in 2014, we would just go on random week nights. Or when we just need something to do. One year, we got a season-long meal plan, and I'd just go to the park to grab lunch (I was a broke college kid).

It was our home away from home.

I haven't been back since 2019. COVID-19 messed things up for a couple years, then my wife couldn't go on rides when she was pregnant in 2022 and 2023. We welcomed our first two children those years.

But I still often reflect on those memories.

On the childhood trips with friends. On the random concerts I attended at the park's Timberwolf Amphitheatre . On going there for senior skip day in high school or eating lunch in the Festhaus . Or of all the dips into the wave pool at Soak City .

So whether you're 4 years old going for your first time, or you're taking your kids to your favorite childhood park, I hope you too make magical memories this amusement park season.

If you are obtaining a quote, information, booking travel for and/or securing or procuring a Charter (as that term is defined in Section 1 below) for more than just yourself, all references below to “Charterer” or “you” (and derivations thereof) shall be read to mean you on behalf of yourself and each individual within your group for whom you are obtaining a quote, information, booking travel for and/or securing or procuring Charter.

These Terms shall be read together and construed, to the fullest extent possible, to be in concert with any other agreement by or among Broker and Charterer. To the extent they cannot be so construed, then in the event of any direct conflict between these Terms and any other agreement by or among Broker and Charterer (including but not limited to the agreement executed by Charterer for a Charter Reservation (as that term is defined in Section 1 below), these Terms shall prevail.

  • Prepaid Charter Reservations . Typically, Broker negotiates charter rates in advance with the yacht owner or charter company (“ Charter Provider ”) to obtain cost-effective rates, and facilitate reservations and availability for yacht charters, excursions and travel (the “ Charter ”). Broker also provides services to you by facilitating the booking of reservations for consideration and receives a commission from the Charter Provider (the “ Broker Fee ”). The Broker Fee is included in the pre-negotiated Charter rate provided to you, plus taxes and other fees where applicable. You agree that your payment is for the total amount set forth in the applicable Charter agreement (which Charter Provider may refer to as a Charter Contract, Charter Agreement, Booking Terms & Conditions, Instructions and Terms for Accommodations, as well as other derivations) provided to you by Broker (“ Charter Agreement ”). Upon execution of the Charter Agreement and receipt of the applicable deposit, you will have made a reservation for the Charter that authorizes Broker to facilitate the Charter on your behalf (“Charter Reservation”), including making payment arrangements with the Charter Provider. You further agree that Broker is a third-party beneficiary to the Charter Agreement and shall have the right to enforce such agreement to the extent it deems such enforcement necessary or advisable to protect its rights hereunder or under the Charter Agreement.

Broker retains the Broker Fee as compensation in arranging your Charter Reservation. The Broker Fee varies based on the amount and type of Charter and/or services provided by Broker.  By making a Charter Reservation, you accept and agree to the relevant cancellation and no-show policy of the Charter Provider set forth in the Charter Agreement. Cancellation and no-show policies vary for each Charter. Carefully read the Charter Agreement and additional information provided to you by Broker. It is expressly agreed by Charterer that the Broker Fee is earned at the time the Charter Reservation is made. Late payment, wrong credit card or debit card details, invalid credit or debit cards, or insufficient funds are for your own risk and account, and you will not be entitled to any refund of any prepaid amount unless the Charter Provider expressly agrees otherwise under the Charter Agreement or in some other signed writing.

  • Charter Rules and Restrictions . Additional terms and agreements will apply to your Charter Reservation and any purchase or rental of equipment or other items, supplies, provisions and travel you may select. Please read those additional terms carefully. In particular, if you have purchased airfare, please ensure that you read the full terms and conditions of carriage issued by the supplier. You agree to abide by the terms of purchase imposed by any supplier with whom you elect to deal, including but not limited to payment of all amounts when due and compliance with the supplier’s rules and restrictions regarding availability, charges, fares, and use of products and services.
  • Payment . All payments must be made by personal check, bank/wire transfer, ACH payment and/or with a major credit card unless otherwise expressly stated. The total price for the Charter Reservation will be billed in U.S. Dollars unless otherwise stated. Some banks and credit card companies impose fees for international transactions. If you are making a reservation from outside of the United States on a US credit card, your bank may convert the payment amount to your local currency and charge you a conversion fee. This means the amount listed on your credit or bank card statement may be in your local currency and therefore a different figure than the amount provided by Broker for the Charter Reservation. In addition, a foreign transaction fee may be assessed if the financial institution that issued your credit card is located outside of the United States. Booking international travel may be considered to be an international transaction by the financial institution or card company. The currency exchange rate and foreign transaction fee is determined solely by your financial institution on the day that it processes the transaction. If you have any questions about these fees or the exchange rate applied to your booking, please contact your financial institution. Broker shall not be liable to you for any such service, conversion, or exchange fee.

Broker expressly reserves the right to cancel your Charter Reservation if full payment is not timely received as set forth in the Charter Agreement.

  • Cancellation and Rescheduling . You may cancel or change your Charter Reservation as set forth in the Charter Agreement by and among you, the Charter Provider and/or Broker. Please note that some Charter Providers do not permit changes to or cancellation of reservations after they are made, or after a certain date, as indicated in the Charter Agreement. You agree to abide by the terms of the Charter Agreement with respect to your Charter Reservation. Broker will not be responsible for reimbursing Charterer for any previously tendered deposits or payments by Charterer and disclaims all liability for the failure of a Charter Provider to refund or return any such funds.
  • Credit Card Transactions and Chargebacks . If for any reason, any Charter Provider is unable to provide the Charter, or any part thereof, for which you have contracted, your remedy lies against the Charter Provider, and not against Broker. However, Broker will use reasonable efforts to assist you and Charter Provider in reaching a resolution to a dispute between you and the Charter Provider. In the event that your payment has already been transferred from Broker to Charter Provider or to an escrow account, you agree that you will not seek a chargeback against Broker for such amounts transferred. You further agree to indemnify and hold Broker harmless from and against any liability, loss, damage or expense (including without limitation, reasonable attorneys’ fees) that Broker may incur in connection with chargebacks against Broker or under the Charter Agreement and your performance thereunder. If Broker incurs any costs, including but not limited to attorneys’ fees, to recover any payments charged back by your credit card company or other financial institution, you agree that you will be liable for these costs. If your payment is declined for any reason, you agree to settle any amounts owed to Broker via money order, cashier’s check, personal check or bank/ACH transfer immediately.
  • Broker Responsibility . Broker makes arrangements with the Charter Provider. Broker additionally makes additional arrangements with other suppliers for the various components and other services that comprise your Charter (“Charter Suppliers”). Broker is not an agent of these Charter Providers or the Charter Suppliers (and the Charter Providers and Charter Suppliers are not agents of Broker). Broker expressly disclaims any liability for the actions or omissions of the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers. The Charter Providers and the Charter Suppliers reserve the right to refuse service to you at their sole discretion. Broker assumes no liability for the acts of the Charter Provider or the Charter Suppliers in refusing service. Broker is not responsible for schedule changes and does not offer compensation for those changes. Broker is not responsible under any circumstances for any injury or damages you may suffer, in connection with sea, air or ground transportation, hotel accommodations, or other travel or excursion services arranged by Broker.

You understand Broker is not the source or supplier of the Charter or other travel services you requested and acts solely as a broker for the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers. You consent to and request the use of the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers and agree to not hold Broker responsible should any of them: (i) fail to provide the Charter or travel services you purchased, whether or not such services are listed in the Charter Agreement or otherwise, (ii) fail to comply with any applicable law, or (iii) engage in any negligent act or omission that causes you any sort of injury, damage, delay or inconvenience.

By using Broker’s services, you waive and release any claim against Broker, its affiliated and subsidiary companies, and their respective officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents, arising out of or in connection with any loss of or damage to property or injury to any person caused by reason of (i) any defect, negligence, or other wrongful act or omission, or any failure of performance of any kind, by any Charter Provider, Charter Suppliers, or any other provider of sea, airline, hotel, ground transportation or any other travel provider connected to or otherwise associated with the Charter, (ii) any claim for inconvenience, loss of enjoyment, mental distress or other similar claim, (iii) any delayed departure, missed connection, substitute accommodation, termination of service or change in fares or rates, and (iv) overbooking, flight or other travel cancellation, lost or misconnected personal property, or any claim arising out of the air transportation portion of your travel, and (v) or any other claim arising out of or otherwise related to the Charter Agreement or services provided by the Charter Provider and the Charter Suppliers.

Excepting only liability that directly arises from the gross negligence or willful misconduct of Broker, you will not hold Broker responsible for any injury, damage or loss you may suffer while on a Charter, whether incurred on the Charter or in connection with any other rental, purchase, excursion or activity, regardless of the relationship of any of the foregoing with the Charter Provider or the Charter Suppliers.

  • Your Responsibility . By booking a Charter with Broker, you agree to defend and indemnify and hold harmless Broker, Charter Provider, Charter Suppliers, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees and agents, from and against any and all claims, causes of action, demands, recoveries, losses, damages, fines, penalties or other costs or expenses of any kind or nature, including but not limited to reasonable legal fees, arising out of or in connection with: (i) your breach of these Terms or the documents referenced herein; (ii) your violation of any law or rights of a third party; or (iii) your use of the Broker website.

You will review your Charter Agreement and travel documents for accuracy upon receipt. You understand that it is your responsibility to review the accuracy of all details in the Charter Reservation provided to you, and that you may contact Broker if you have any questions.

You assume full and complete responsibility for checking and verifying any and all passport, visa, vaccination, or other entry requirements of your destination(s), and all conditions regarding health, safety, security, political stability, and labor or civil unrest at such destination(s).

You understand that Broker recommends purchasing travel insurance to cover certain risks inherent in travel such as supplier bankruptcy and the inability to travel due to a medical or personal emergency.

  • No Warranties . All Charters, products, services, advice and information is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied to the fullest extent permitted under the law, including but not limited to, warranties of title or implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality or fitness for a particular purpose. Broker has no special knowledge regarding the Charter Provider’s or Charter Supplier’s financial condition, unsafe conditions, health hazards, weather hazards, or climate extremes at locations to which you may travel during or otherwise in connection with your Charter.

  • Limitation on Liability . In no event shall Broker, Charter Provider, Charter Suppliers, and/or their respective affiliates, or any employees, agents, officers, directors, members or managers of any of the foregoing (“Broker and Charter Releasees”), be liable for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special or consequential damages arising out of, or in any way connected with, your access to, display of or use the Broker’s website, the Charter or services provided to you in connection with the Charter (including, but not limited to, your reliance upon opinions of the Broker), whether based on a theory of negligence, contract, tort, strict liability, consumer protection statutes, or otherwise, and even if Broker and/or any other of the Broker and Charter Releasees have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

If, despite the limitation above, Broker or the Broker and Charter Releasees are found liable for any loss or damage which arises out of or in any way connected with any of the occurrences described above, then Broker, Charter Provider, Charter Supplier and the Broker and Charter Releasees will in no event exceed, in the aggregate, the greater of (a) the Broker Fee, and (b) One-Hundred Dollars (US $100.00).

The foregoing limitation of liability reflects the allocation of risk between the parties. The limitations specified in this section will survive and apply even if any limited remedy specified in these Terms is found to have failed of its essential purpose. The limitations of liability provided in these Terms inure to the benefit of Broker and/or its providers.

The foregoing does not affect any liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

  • Limitation on Time to File Claims . ANY CAUSE OF ACTION OR CLAIM YOU MAY HAVE ARISING OUT OF RELATING TO BROKER’S SERVICES OR THE WEBSITE MUST BE COMMENCED WITHIN ONE (1) YEAR AFTER THE CAUSE OF ACTION ACCRUES, OTHERWISE, SUCH CAUSE OF ACTION OR CLAIM IS PERMANENTLY BARRED.
  • Waiver . No waiver by Broker of any term or condition set forth in these Terms shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such term or condition or a waiver of any other term or condition, and any failure of the Broker to assert a right or provision under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
  • Severability . In honor of Earth Day 2024, today's Google Doodle takes us on a trip around the world

island charter trips

Want to take a trip around the world? You can in two seconds thanks to Google.

Releasing its annual Earth Day doodle, Google displays the beauty of all six continents around the world. Using satellite technology, the search engine giant created a collage with each Google letter that shows the global sustainability efforts within each continent. The goal for this doodle is to give the audience a tour of positive environmental change in the world.

Here's a look at the Google Doodle for Earth Day:

When is Earth Day 2024?: Get ready to help your planet with our guide to the holiday.

Letters in Earth Day Google Doodle represent climate change progress

Location: Turks and Caicos Islands

Turks and Caicos is home to many biodiversity areas. In an effort to preserve the countries conservation, the island has made an effort to protect natural resources such as reefs and restoring endangered species like the rock iguana.

Location: Scorpion Reef National Park, Mexico .

Flying to the Gulf of Mexico, Google makes a stop in Arrecife de Alacranes. This is the largest reef in the southern Gulf of Mexico and the UNESCO biosphere reserve. In this marine protected area, many coral and several endangered bird and turtle species call this area home.

Location: Vatnajökull National Park, Iceland

If you like the cold you'll love Google's pitstop in Iceland. Although the country is well-known for its polar bears, the country has more beauty offer. In 2008, the UNESCO World Heritage Site was established as a national park to protect the ecosystem in and around Europe’s largest glacier. With the mix of volcanoes and glacial ice, this area is able to produce rare landscapes and flora.

More than 30,000 Rhode Island families applied to attend charter public schools in 2024-2025, a 27% increase in applications when compared to the previous year, the Rhode Island League of Charter Schools (RILCS) said in a news release on Tuesday.

The league said that 2,500 seats were available in 2024-2025, not enough to meet demand.

“While the lottery is an exciting time for some families, many, many more are left disappointed,” said Chiara Deltito-Sharrott, Executive Director of the League. “Thousands of Rhode Island families, primarily those with limited financial means, are looking for a public school that fits the unique needs of their child. I applaud Rhode Island’s charter public school leaders for assisting these families with their search and guiding them through the process.”

The demand for charter schools has been increasing steadily over the past five years, the RILCS said. Last year, more than 28,000 families applied.

The Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council found that charter school students have extra 90 days of learning time per year on average compared to students in traditional public schools.
