Adventure Travel with Kit Parks - Host of the Active Travel Adventures Podcast By cover art

Adventure Travel, Worldwide, Podcasting, Trekking Kit Parks Podcast Host Active Travel Adventures Hi, I'm Kit Parks.  I discovered adventure travel when I impulsively joined a friend backpacking volcanoes in Nicaragua when I was 56, and got hooked. Adventure travel - a foreign concept to me until that fateful adventure - turned my world around and galvanized me to start the popular Active Travel Adventures podcast.  If I hadn't heard about adventure travel, then maybe others hadn't either, and I wanted to spread the word. On the show, I seek to inspire and empower others to lead a bigger life through adventure travel.  I encourage folks to step outside of their comfort zone, train, and then go on an epic adventure.  The show features adventures that regular folks can do on their vacation. Over the past six years, I've hiked, biked and paddled my way across all seven continents and have never looked back. https://activetraveladventures.com/ Summary In this conversation, Kit Parks, the host of the Active Travel Adventures podcast, shares her travel journey and insights into adventure travel. She discusses her transition from being a workaholic to embracing travel and adventure. Kit emphasizes the importance of taking small steps outside of one's comfort zone and the value of training and preparation. She also provides advice for finding a compatible travel partner and highlights the need for women to consider safety when traveling. Kit shares her favorite travel experiences and reveals her dream destination. In this conversation, Kit Parks shares her journey of discovering walking holidays in Scotland and how it inspired her to start a podcast to spread the word about adventure travel. She discusses the importance of inspiring real people to go on adventures and shares transformational stories from her adventure trips. Kit and Jason also explore the benefits of adventure travel, including personal growth and the power of connection. They emphasize the role of shared experiences in bonding and encourage listeners to go out and explore the world. Kit provides information about her website, ActiveTravelAdventures.com, as a resource for adventure travel information and inspiration.

Active Travel Adventures

My mission is to inspire and empower YOU to lead a bigger life through adventure travel! – Kit Parks

It’s is all about making it easier for you , the fit and active traveler, to find the perfect adventure for your next vacation.  .

My name is Kit Parks, and I comb the planet to find the best multi-day active travel experiences for fit folks like yourself. I share my findings with you on this website, in my monthly email newsletter, and in my podcasts:  Active Travel Adventures showcases amazing adventure holidays you can take, and the companion podcast, Adventure Travel Show podcast, which teaches you the skills you need to take on these cool adventures.

I’m not talking climbing Mount Everest here — or anything crazy or dangerous.  Think more along the lines of a cycling tour through the stiletto heel of Italy, or a week long hike from one medieval village to the next through the lochs and moors of Scotland.   On a scale of 1 – 5 with five being extremely difficult, most will be around a 3.

active travel adventures podcast

I’m a widow in my 60’s who discovered adventure travel AFTER I turned fifty.  All of the adventures are something that I can do, and so can YOU if you are reasonably fit, especially if you do a little pre-trip training.

The common denominator is that on all of these adventure vacations, you have to MOVE !  You’re going to have to hike, bike, paddle, horseback ride, or somehow self-propel yourself from one place to the next – sometimes in combination!  Often these trips have a cultural component, such as a regional cooking class or wine tasting, or some other immersion with the locals.

My recommended active holiday vacations nearly always require that you get a little (sometimes a lot) sweaty and dirty.  Sometimes the accommodations are basic or you may need to camp because there simply aren’t hotels available.

But all trips will be epic and worth it!

“I’ve been listening to ATA for a few years, finding it while I was considering taking a trip with the Active Adventures tour company she often mentions in the podcasts.  It has given insight into a few destinations I might not otherwise have considered.  I truly enjoy listening to others who prefer to see the world on their feet (or on a bike or paddling) vs touring on a bus checking off boxes of destinations.  Kit and I even got to travel together on a trip in 2019 and will be doing so again this year, if travel gets to resume by the fall.  Or whenever it resumes!”

Active Travel Adventures podcasts have inspired me so much and my “bucket” list has significantly increased to include all sorts of destinations and adventures I had never imagined or even knew about before a couple of years ago.      After listening to Kit’s podcasts and her interviews with her guests, I was able at age 63 to gather the confidence to book my very first multi-day hike in my life!     I’m so excited to start this new way of travel and I hope will be the first of many of this type of trip for me.
