A wonderful river cruise

Lively commentary by Captain Jack who is very knowledgeable with the local wildlife and the River he cruises on. The pelicans were delightful and seeing the Kites dive down to grab the herring provided was an amazing experience. The damper, which is made by Jack's Mum, is yummy and I am going to give it a go. Take this tour and you won't be disappointed. TOP NOTCH LOL

Thank you so much😊

“Absolute must” while in Albany! Captain Jack has an amazing sense of humour, an awesome day of wildlife entertainment, local food tastings and incredible local history story telling repetoire. Loved every minute. Thank you for a great day.

Thank you for. your review Jack does very well.

This was the absolute hilight of our trip. Captain Jack is a truly gifted storyteller and fantastic host. His knowledge is extensive. His love of his job obvious. The interaction with birds is so cool. The damper is yummy mmm. This is a must do.

Thank you for yet another great review now on more than 600 5. 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟 this makes me a proud Dad.

It was excellent from start to finish.Jack sharing info on so many subjects - birds in particular but oysters, mussels, fish , seagrass, trees, bees, mariners, explorers, history, geography, early settlers etc etc. His enthusiasm was infectious and he tops everything off his own poetic compositions. :) Lovely cuppa and excellent damper, as well.

Well all reviews are so important to us this one is oh so special! Number 600 five star! Thank you. So now 600 five star 37 four star and one three star. I found the one 3 star quite funny some years ago as I was so surprised our opposition could read and write. 🥳👏🏻🎶😂🤣

Wonderful experience, Captain Jack has a wealth of local knowledge and shared the history of the harbour and Kalgan river so well. The jokes and his poetry along the way were very entertaining. We stopped on the banks for a photo then back on the Kalgan Queen for a cuppa and some home made damper. The pelicans put on a wonderful show for us, as did the local eagles. Well done. Would certainly recommend the Kalgan Queen scenic cruise. Catherine and Syl

Thank you so much for a great review we are happy you had a great time.

As a keen photographer I was able to take action shots of the sea eagles diving for the fish, performing Pelicans and other bird life along the river. We were all captivated by Captain Jack's stories and history lesson. It was a great 4 hours of fun and the damper was delicious. Do take a jacket no matter what the forecast is! Well worth it, can thoroughly recommend.

Thanks Captain Jack for sharing your knowledge of the Albany area and Kalgan River. We all had a great day and enjoyed your commentary. I would recommend your cruise to anyone wanting a great Value family day out. All the best Jack

It was informative and full of special experiences. I had an interaction with a bird, that had been rescued and cared for by the captain, that was good for my soul.

Fantasic cruise with excellent commentary which provided a great insight into the local history. Captain Jack is brilliant - really a superb tourist experience. We fully recommend it to anyone visiting Albany Paula and Joe Warwick WA

Kalgan Queen River Cruise

This is a brilliant cruise. Captain Jack is very informative about the local history of Albany and the wildlife. Lots of personality, fun stories and poems. The mussels, damper and tea/coffee were excellent. Fully recommend this river cruise. You won't be disappointed

albany river boat tours kalgan queen cruises reviews

As I say thank you for a great review I am also not disappointed at the way our cruise is so highly rated by our customers.

Great day out even though the wind was a bit strong. Tea and damper was awesome as well as the honey and lip balm. Learnt alot about the area and the local history. Great captain with poetry along the journey. Also lots of laughs. Highly recommend.

Yes Albany is often windy at this time of year so 21 years ago I built a boat that could go up to 50k out to sea so it is very stable in the waters of Oyster Harbour and the Kalgan river. Thank you for a great review.

Decided to take this cruise down the river Kalgan . It was a real treat . It was full of fun and captain Jack is an excellent host full of fun humour and is an encyclopaedia of local history and tells the stories like a poet . Very entertaining. Included in the four hour trip is a taste of local muscles (delicious) also some wonderful damper and tea or coffee. The wildlife is amazing and Jack has a few pelican friends that are super friendly. He can even get two of the pelicans to dance . The river is nice and calm . It a four hour round trip and well worth the $95 pp cost for the cruise . It was one of the best boat trips we have had . It a must if you are in Albany . Highly recommended . Thank you For a wonderful trip .

We advertise in many areas but our most affective form of advertising is word of mouth. Thank you for your review.

Jack's awesome sense of humor combined with his knowledge about the wildlife in the area is simply mind-blowing. On top of that, he has amazing homemade honey and dampers with beverage to keep you refreshed throughout the trip. I'd definitely go back to Kalgan Queen Cruise when I'll revisit Albany.

Thank you for a great review we look forward to seeing you again.

There was not one thing that was my favourite part the whole cruise was so good Highly recommend .captain Jack kept everyone highly entertained any the pelicans were amazing ❤️

River Cruise with a difference!

Fabulous cruise with very interesting information regarding Albany history, beautiful river scenery and so amazing to get a close up view of pelicans and osprey. The damper and cuppa were awesome and the honey was yummo.

albany river boat tours kalgan queen cruises reviews

20 plus years has built up a trust with the wildlife which is why it’s so up close and personal. Thank you for your kind review.

Great for all ages! Beautiful scenery, lots of local knowledge about the region, history, language, poetry, humour and telling a story. Well worth doing!

Self praise is no recommendation which is why your five star reviews are so good.

What a great experience. Jack has a comprehensive knowledge of the history and wildlife of the region. He is an entertaining skipper and guide and shared many interesting and funny stories as well as some of his poetry. The cup of tea and damper was delicious. Our day started out rainy however we were nice and cozy in the boat. The harbour and river is very well protected so made for a comfortable journey.

Many people go out into King George Sound and get sea sick this Cruise has been going for more than 20 years and never had one! Thank you for your kind review.

What a fabulous morning on the Kalgan Queen with Captain Jack. Amazing scenery, incredible interaction with the bird life and fabulous commentary from Jack. The Damper and Steaming Hot Coffee were delicious. Captain Jack was so welcoming, fantastic with the kids and so knowledgeable. I cannot recommend the Kalgan Queen any more highly.

Thank you so much we have been Cruising now for over twenty years and I still love this kind of review.

My favourite part on the kalgan queen was the meeting with all the birds and watching the feeding. Another great part was the customer service.

Thanks that’s what we love to hear.

Loved it, great scenery, great stories and history, loved the diversity in birds and wildlife. Great day 😊

Great review thank you there’s something for everyone on the Kalgan Queen.

  • Belinda L 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Relaxing & Interesting Cruise A very enjoyable and relaxing cruise on the Kalgan River. You will not be disappointed. Jsck was very informative about the Kalgan River and the wildlife. We booked a week in advance. We picked the perfect day to go in October as it reached 26 degrees in the arvo. Captain Jack was very entertaining with his own poems, talk of his family and telling his story about his beloved Pelican Perch who he hand reared until able to let it go. Perch the Pelican was very photogenic. We were able to see Osprey nests very clearly and Captain fed the Osprey as he flew by. We were lucky enough to taste his Mum's homemade Damper bread and enjoyed fresh honey from his Bee farm. If we had one criticism and it is very minor it would be nice to have an hour to ourselves on the boat without any commentary so we could chat to the people we met from all over the world. Just a tip, remember to bring warm clothing or a warm fleece or jumper because at 9am in Albany it's very chilly out on the water and you will feel it. Best to go prepared and bring some water. Next to the grave a marker which reads, quote: - Adjacent to, and on the right of this marker, lies the grave of the late Reverend Arthur Ernest White, a Church of England clergyman and padre, 44th Battalion, First Australian Imperial Force.

On 25th April 1923, at Albany in Western Australia, the Reverend White led a party of friends in what was the first ever observance of a Dawn parade on ANZAC Day, thus establishing a tradition which has endured, Australia wide ever since.
