The Barrett Explores program offers honors students the opportunity to travel to major American cities, destinations in Arizona, and to National Parks.

Barrett explores

Traveling is one of the best ways to develop an understanding of diverse places, people and cultures. Through travel, students learn self-sufficiency, tolerance, independence and resourcefulness. Barrett alumni report that traveling was among their most important, meaningful, and memorable educational experiences.The Barrett Explores program offers honors students the opportunity to travel to major American cities, throughout Arizona, and to national parks. Each trip is specially designed to include educational, cultural and networking experiences.

Barrett Explores: Arizona showcases the beauty found within the Grand Canyon state and gives students the opportunity to learn about and visit nearby attractions. Barrett students can explore unique parts of Arizona through this program while making new friends, learning about Arizona ecosystems, and seeing different parts of the vast Arizona landscape. There are two Barrett Explores Arizona trips each academic year.

National Parks

The Barrett Explores: National Parks program allows students to explore the diverse landscapes and rich ecosystems that are preserved and protected in our national parks system. Barrett students can explore different national parks through this program while making new friends, learning about different national park ecosystems, and seeing different parts of the country. There are two Barrett Explores: National Parks trips each academic year; they take place over Fall Break and Spring Break.

Great American Cities

The Barrett Explores: Great American Cities program encourages students to explore the cultural, historical and artistic aspects of some of the finest cities in the United States. Barrett students can explore different Great American Cities through this program while making new friends, learning about different cities, and seeing what makes each city unique and beautiful. There are two to three Barrett Explores: Great American Cities trips each academic year; they take place over Fall Break, Spring Break, and summer if a third trip is offered.

Class Connections

Class Connections brings students from each graduating class together to get to know each other while visiting fun and interesting destinations. Each trip will be open to students within the corresponding class first and, if space is available after the designated registration period, any Barrett student may sign up to participate.

Arizona State fans bowl travel announcement

Undefeated and ranked 4th in the BCS standings, the Arizona State football team is coming off a strong, 44-20 victory against Washington and is eligible for post-season play. With the team off to a 7-0 start, Sun Devil fans can now begin making their travel plans to follow the Sun Devils this bowl season. ASU Athletics, the Sun Devil Club, and the Arizona State University Alumni Association will partner with Premiere College Sports, one of the nation's leading sports travel firms, to offer fans unique, first-class travel and hospitality packages for any bowl game in which ASU participates through the creation of "Sun Devil Sports Travel."

" Dennis Erickson , his staff, and team are really giving the Sun Devils an exciting 2007 season. We are proud of our football team and pleased to introduce Sun Devil Sports Travel to our fans. We hope that all of our fans take advantage of this great program and support our team during bowl season" said Lisa Love, Director of Athletics.

"Sun Devil Sports Travel" will offer an array of travel packages for all Sun Devil fans to follow their team in the postseason. Packages could include air transportation, deluxe accommodations, hospitality as well as other tour amenities.

"The Sun Devil Club is very excited to partner with Premiere College Sports to create a travel program in which all fans can participate" said Stephen Ponder, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development. "Sun Devil Sports Travel will offer our fans first class travel options that will make following the Sun Devils on the road this bowl season, convenient and fun."

Fans can visit the dedicated website for ASU bowl travel now to sign up for travel information on any number of bowl games in which ASU could participate.

"The Alumni Association is pleased to join the Sun Devil Club and ASU Athletics in offering travel packages to our alumni and fans for a post season bowl game" said Christine Wilkinson, President of the ASUAA. "Let's show how strong our ASU spirit is by filling the stadium with gold. Go DEVILS!"

About the Sun Devil Club Since 1947, the Sun Angel Foundation's membership has been making a difference in the lives of the men and women who proudly wear the Maroon and Gold. Salary Range:

$50,000.00 – $60,500.00 USD annually

As part of Arizona State University’s charter to provide access and excellence, ASU Preparatory Academy (ASU Prep) shares this commitment by demonstrating all students can achieve at the highest levels, regardless of their background. To scale our current impact, ASU Prep is advancing a major expansion program taking fundamental responsibility for the communities we serve.

The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) works under the supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide therapy services to eligible students. The SLPA will collaborate with other school professionals to ensure that the student’s needs are being met to able the student’s peak performance in the classroom. Also, the SLPA will act as a point of contact for the student’s guardians and be present and participate in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree with a Speech Language Pathology Assistant certificate required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in speech pathology, speech-hearing science, speech and language disorders, or equivalent degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years or more experience working with children in a therapy setting preferred.
  • Arizona SLPA certification
  • Valid Arizona DPS-Issued IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Spanish bilingual abilities, highly preferred but not required.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct speech and language screening without interpretation, using screening protocols specified by the supervising SLP.
  • Provide direct treatment assistance, identified by the supervising speech-language pathologist by following written treatment plans, individualized education programs, individual support plans or protocols developed by the supervising speech-language pathologist.
  • Document student progress toward meeting established objectives as stated in the individualized education program without interpreting the findings and report this information to the supervising speech-language pathologist.
  • Assist the speech-language pathologist in collecting and tallying data for assessment purposes, without interpreting the data.
  • Act as a second-language interpreter during assessments.
  • Assist with informal documentation during an intervention session by collecting and tallying data as directed by the speech-language pathologist, preparing materials and assisting with other clerical duties as specified by the supervising speech-language pathologist.
  • Schedule activities and prepare charts, records, graphs or other displays of data.
  • Perform checks and maintenance of equipment.
  • Attend meetings, ASU Prep activities and trainings.
  • Sign and initial treatment notes for review and co-signature by the supervising speech-language pathologist
  • Represent ASU Prep in a professional manner.
  • Maintain open communication with students, parent, community and staff.
  • Protect and maintain the confidentiality of students.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, codes, rules, regulations and statutes.
  • Knowledge of ASU Prep’s policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of speech therapy theories, models of practice, principals, and evidence-based practice, as well as their application.
  • Knowledge of oral-motor skills and childhood development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively under supervision.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional delivery techniques.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in documentation/observation skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, parents, community and staff.
