Official Baltimore Ravens History

Since their founding in 1996, the Baltimore Ravens have won two Super Bowls (in 2000 and 2012). Head coach John Harbaugh — who joined the team in 2008 and who was named the 2019 NFL Coach of the Year — has led the Ravens to a playoff berth over numerous seasons (2008–2012, 2014, 2018–2020, and 2022).

Since 2008, Baltimore has been tied for the league's fourth-most playoff wins (11), has advanced to an impressive three AFC Championship contests, and has achieved a regular season all-time record of 243–190–1, the third-highest in the NFL. The Ravens have also produced several members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including Ray Lewis, Jonathan Ogden, Ed Reed, Shannon Sharpe, and Ron Woodson.

Preseason commanders vs ravens.

It was amazing I’m talking mind blowing but the way out was packed and by the time we go out it was 10:30 at night in Baltimore and we had 2 hours to ride home still but over all it was awesome.

Christmas Eve game

Coldest day of the year. Seats were pretty good. Game was good. Had some drink jerks in the row behind us using profanity nonstop. Buying tickets for family of four is expensive took me a year to save up the money, basically ruined by a group of drink 20 somethings. My wife and daughter didn't want me to cause a scene so unfortunately, I didn't say anything. Bummer.

Marvelous day

Excellent experience. I like everything at MT Bank Stadium. I enjoyed the game a lot.

Always fun NFL games

Love going to ravens games. There’s nothing like night games but even afternoon games such as this one bring a good time. And concessions are reasonably priced unlike other teams!

I came 1/2 the game and was change very expensive after I shared my location to Ticketmaster the price went doble the price. Other than that the game of course was great.

Patriotic Experience

It was a cold Fall day, perfect football weather! I got to my seat in time to see the marching Ravens and they were killing it with the formations they were doing. I was moved by the honoring of military vets, having soldiers run out on the field with players as they carried American flags and the Navy Cadet Choir was the best version of the National Anthem yet. The fireworks were great and having the Warthogs flyover was to topping on the cake. My seat was awesome, Ravens fans are always cool and we won! A good time all over!!!

I enjoyed everything about my visit to Baltimore. The fans were amazing! The walk to the stadium was not too bad. We got a chance to visit a few local vendors along the way and the wait to get in the stadium was not long at all. Once in the stadium, the lines were long for some food vendors, but that was expected. Finding our seats was relatively easy and staff was available to assist, if needed. My husband and I had an amazing view and we got to meet Poe and take a picture. I can't wait to visit again! It felt good to see our team in person at M&T Bank Stadium!

Great stadium

My one night stay in Baltimore coincided with a Ravens game so had to go. The stadium was easy to get to and plenty of parking meant i had a very short walk to the stadium. The atmosphere around the stadium was great before and after the game. Gates weren't too crowded and no long queues to get in which meant it only took 5mins to get in. Once inside you're inundated with different food and drink options on every level. The stadium is cash free so make sure you remember your bank card and one other thing i found was that if you have a contactless bank card you're able to skip most of the queues as some of the registers only accept contactless payments and i believe its not as common as it is in the UK, where I'm from, so i didn't have to wait to order food and drinks. My seats were easy to find and the view was fantastic. The atmosphere inside the stadium was fun with everyone fully up for the game. Great game and i would definitely come to another if I'm ever in Baltimore again 🏈.

Ravens Game vs Cleveland

Everything about the game was great! Parking, ease with security check in, and food as expected. My seat had a great view and the Ravens won!

Ladies night

I enjoyed meeting Jimmy Smith and other Ravens. I also, enjoyed running reps on the field. Good exercise for me.

Ravens Team Overview

After 12 seasons without a professional football team, Baltimore received its newest NFL franchise when Art Modell relocated the Cleveland Browns to the city in 1996. Taking his own players and personnel but leaving behind the heritage, colors and team name, Modell formed an expansion team that's now valued at $2.98 billion. The team name was chosen after a telephone poll proved overwhelming support for it — having been inspired by Edgar Allen Poe's famous poem, "The Raven," which was authored in Baltimore.

One of the newest teams in the NFL, the Baltimore Ravens are one of just two teams to be undefeated in multiple Super Bowl appearances (alongside the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ) — having taken home the Vince Lombardi Trophy in both 2000 and 2012. The Ravens' current season is their 16th under head coach John Harbaugh, the older brother of former Ravens quarterback, Jim Harbaugh. Not only is he the only head coach in NFL history to win a playoff game in each of his first four and five seasons, but also the only head coach in NFL history to win a playoff game six of the first seven seasons of a coaching career. Additionally, he has the most road playoff wins by a head coach and has surpassed Brian Billick for the most wins by a head coach in Baltimore Ravens history.

ABOUT RAVEN

the ravens tour 2023

ladsJOHN GALLAGHER: Lead Vocals, Bass, 12 String Bass MIKE HELLER : Drums MARK GALLAGHER : Guitar, Vocals

RAVEN are that rare thing in music,  true originals – cut these guys with a razor and they will BLEED true heavy metal – a more intense live band does not exist on this planet!

Hailing from Newcastle Upon Tyne in North East England back in 1974 (yes – 46 YEARS ago!!!) the brothers Gallagher cut their teeth playing the pubs & clubs until solidifying their line up in 1980 with drummer Rob Hunter.

The trio went on to release three of the most influential metal albums of the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) inspiring every band of that era and beyond.  Basically,  without Raven you just would not have thrash/speed metal…. after all, the band did give Metallica & Anthrax their first tours!

Following a tumultuous move to the USA, deals with Atlantic Records, indentured servitude and commercialism,  Rob left the band in 1987 to be replaced by drummer extraordinaire Joe Hasselvander, who had made his name in cult doom band Pentagram, Savoy Brown and his own solo projects, adding a new dimension to the band.

In 2001,  guitarist Mark Gallagher was involved in a near fatal accident – but fought his way back from the brink and the band proved they were stronger than ever!  This renewed spirit and attitude was reflected in the title of their 2010 album “ WALK THROUGH FIR E” and in the career overview DVD “ ROCK UNTIL YOU DROP ”.

2014 found the band opening for Metallica (the band that Raven took on their first tour back in 1983) in Sao Paulo in front of 70,000 fans, and completing their finest album to date – ExtermiNation ” which was released to universal acclaim from fans & critics alike in 2015!

After a serious heart attack in May 2017 Joe Hasselvander has had to unfortunately relinquish the drum stool….taking over drum duties is the phenomenal  Mike Heller (Fear Factory, Malignancy) who has immediately injected high energy into the band!

Following an insane blur of world touring over the last 3 years including a 40th anniversary All for One tour; the lads are set to release the next RAVEN opus, “ All Hell’s Break Loose ” on June 30th, 2023… a scorcher of immense proportions!

In a cynical musical landscape these days, where bands are not “gangs “but faceless corporations, RAVEN are a band that are REAL not FAKE – and proud of it!

Great band, an '80 metal band that still makes hot concerts and nice albums ....

Better than the most famous metal band in the world

THEY REALLY KICK ASS !!!

As soon as everyone was gathered in the room people started chanting ‘Raven, Raven, Raven’ and the drum kit was slowly illuminated as drum beats started beating - increasing the suspense. Suddenly the other members of the band exploded onto the stage, jumping around and stoking everyone’s energy to a fever pitch! Wearing a lot of leather, long hair and growling along to the lyrics, Raven were the embodiment of a perfect heavy metal band! Definitely one of the most exciting bands I’ve ever seen live! Raven was formed by brothers John and Mark Gallagher and their strength as a unit really comes across during the band’s performance! They all bounced off each other’s enthusiasm and their love of the music which made it even more enjoyable to watch and to be a part of!

Raven were formed in 1974 so have a lot of music available to listen to! I would definitely recommend their first album ‘Rock Until You Drop’ which was released in 1981 to a lot of praise. Their most recent album, ‘Walk Through Fire’ was released in 2009 and is also great! Even better: Raven are currently on tour! For the duration of October and November they will be touring in the US and there are plenty of dates available for you to go and see them! I promise, you will love it!

Ravens hc john harbaugh 'fired up' to have derrick henry: 'we've had our hands full trying to stop him'.

Headshot_Author_Kevin-Patra_2020

Around the NFL Writer

The Baltimore Ravens signed King Derrick Henry in 2024 to add some oomph to their backfield and stop the string of injury-riddled seasons that have left John Harbaugh's club piecemealing the position.

After years of Henry being the engine of the Tennessee offense, the big question this offseason is how the running back fits into a scheme that revolves around Lamar Jackson 's unique dual-threat ability. Harbaugh told NFL Network's Steve Wyche at the Annual League Meeting on Sunday that Henry's ability to reach any gap makes him a diverse back.

"We'll, that's just it. People talk about attacking the full width of the field, especially in the run game," Harbaugh said. "You could do it in the pass game too or extend some runs or call them screens and things like that. These are all things Lamar is so good at. Lamar does it by throwing the ball. He could do it by reading the defense and keeping it or going a different way. We could take the back, and Lamar could go vertical. We've got a lot of different things that we like to do. So, A gap, B gap, C gap, D gap, alley, or all the way to the sideline, you want to attack a defense like that, right? That's important in the run game, and Derrick Henry can attack every single one of those areas just as well. He could come downhill, there's no doubt about it. He's going to get after that A gap and he's going to make people defend to force the defense to tuck in their real nice."

Harbaugh noted that Henry's big plays against his defenses in recent years stuck out when the Ravens contemplated signing the bruising back this offseason. In four career games against Baltimore, Henry rushed for 277 yards on 55 carries with three touchdowns. Most of that damage came in the past two battles. In 2020, Henry rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries. Last year in London, he averaged 8.1 yards per tote, netting 97 yards on 12 carries with a score, including a 63-yarder.

"Well, it's a big buzz, big guy and a big player," Harbaugh said. "He has a great personality and loves football. We played against him all those years. When you play against a guy, you earn respect for a guy, and we've had our hands full trying to stop him. So, it kind of speaks to us. How we want to play and approach the game, so I'm fired up to have him."

Injuries forced the Ravens to shuffle through backs last season, from J.K. Dobbins to Gus Edwards to Justice Hill to Keaton Mitchell to eventually signing Melvin Gordon and Dalvin Cook . Not only does Harbaugh hope Henry stops the cycle, but that the big back brings a different element that has been missing from the Baltimore offense.

Harbaugh is glad his defense no longer has to tackle Henry.

"Well, defensively, he's just real football," he said. "There's one thing to have a reputation, it's another thing to have the challenge of defending him. Just the fact that you have to tackle him. If he gets a head of steam, whether it's in the A gap or outside -- he took a fake reverse about 70 yards against us last year in London. You don't forget those things. Those things sting, and they stay stinging for a long time. So, we respect him, and he's going to help us."

Ravens are on track to lose one of their key players from 2023 season after latest report

B altimore Ravens have plenty of work left to do after they exited the playoffs earlier than they wanted to just a couple of months ago.

One issue that currently strands is their edge rusher depth. Jadeveon Clowney is a free agent and is trending toward leaving in free agency, it appears

View the original article to see embedded media.

Clowney was one of the better signings for the Rabens last go around and tied a career-high in sacks with 9.5 of them. After coming over from the Cleveland Browns and recording just two sacks in 2022, Clowney turned things back around the right way with Baltimore.

If he is to leave the Ravens, it does not look like he is going far. The Jets are a team that will want to take a big step with Aaron Rodgers back and trying to replace Bryce Huff with one of the better players left on the market shows that.

The Ravens are set up to need to draft an edge rusher early on in the draft next month. Perhaps they’ll take a swing on a guy like Darius Robinson at the end of the first round.

Currently, it would be Odafe Oweh and David Ojabo as the top two ends for the Ravens. They are interested in Clowney coming back, but they not be able to pay him what New York or another team can.

Clowney traditionally takes a while to sign in free agency, though this year could be trending toward an earlier contract before the draft.

They traded for Aaron Rodgers last April, giving their fanbase hope and true championship expectations for the first time in a very long time. Then Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon in his first game wearing a Jets uniform. New York shuffled through several replacement quarterbacks but never found an answer and stumbled to a 7-10 record. All the while Rodgers was making headlines for his appearances on the Pat McAfee Show and injury recovery saga.

It was quite a busy season for a team that didn't make the playoffs. This offseason they're trying to fix that. The Jets have addressed several areas of weakness in free agency, headlined by the free agent acquisitions of veteran All-Pro tackle Tyron Smith to protect Rodgers' blind side and former first-rounder Mike Williams for reinforcements at the receiver position. They own the No. 10 overall pick in the NFL Draft to further improve the roster.

Given how active the team has been this offseason there has been plenty of discussion surrounding their moves. But it's nothing compared to last year around this time. Head coach Robert Saleh told NFL Network's Steve Wyche on Sunday he's perfectly fine with that.

"I think (general manager) Joe (Douglas) has done a really nice job adding some really cool pieces to the football team, but, yeah, quiet," Saleh told NFL Network's Steve Wyche at the Annual League Meeting on Sunday regarding the Jets' free agency. "Last year was a little loud. We welcome a little bit of quietness."

This will be the last stretch of "quietness" for the Jets if everything goes according to plan. Rodgers should be on track to return from his injury in time for training camp. The organization has already added a few big names on the open market and will add even more talent when the draft kicks off in April. They are a team with legitimate championship aspirations and will be treated as such by the general football public. Every decision made will be under a microscope.

Rodgers himself is also a lightning rod for extra attention. He spent much of the 2023 season promising to return in time for the postseason. And while Saleh is right that things are quiet right now, it was only a few weeks ago that Rodgers was being mentioned as a potential vice presidential candidate. With a personality like his on the roster, quietness is only a temporary state of affairs.

The Jets have positioned themselves well to bounce back in 2024 after a difficult season. The noise surrounding the roster and the organization's contender status will only grow louder as the new season draws near. Saleh is well off enjoying the quiet while he can.

Baltimore Ravens big board: Options at No. 30 starting to come into focus

The Baltimore Ravens have enough experience drafting in the 30s where the uncertainty of what will happen with all the picks in front of them won’t be an unfamiliar feeling.

Three years ago, they made a pick at No. 31, selecting outside linebacker Odafe Oweh with the selection they obtained from the Kansas City Chiefs in the Orlando Brown Jr. trade. They selected quarterback Lamar Jackson with the No. 32 pick in 2018 after trading back in the first round.

Other first-round picks in the 30s produced safety Matt Elam, who went No. 32 in 2013 and is in the conversation as the organization’s biggest draft bust; and tight end Todd Heap, the 31st pick in 2001 who is in the team’s Ring of Honor.

In other words, drafting late in the first round has produced a mixed bag for Baltimore.

This year, the Ravens need to hit. General manager Eric DeCosta has been relatively busy in recent days on the free-agent market, but many of his moves have been depth signings, which are nonetheless important. But the Ravens have some holes along their offensive line, where they’ve lost three 2023 starters, and at edge rusher and cornerback. They are also still looking to add to their offseason wide receiver mix, which is a yearly pursuit.

Ravens free-agency tracker: Arthur Maulet returns, Kevin Zeitler signs with Lions

The Ravens currently have nine picks, including one each in the first, second, third, fifth and sixth rounds, and two each in the fourth and seventh rounds. The focus, though, leading into the 2024 NFL Draft will be on what the Ravens will do with the No. 30 pick in the first round.

Their options on April 25 are starting to come into focus. Let’s take a look at 10 of them (where they rank on Dane Brugler’s big board is in parentheses):

Keon Coleman , WR, Florida State (No. 28)

Coleman’s a polarizing prospect with some questions about his vertical speed. Yet, the 6-foot-3, 213-pound receiver brings a skill set the Ravens lack. He’s a big and physical receiver who specializes in making contested catches and playing “above the rim.” His ability to make highlight reel catches speaks to his size, physicality and ball skills. Selecting a fourth first-round receiver in six years is probably a stretch for Baltimore, but Coleman certainly would diversify the team’s receiving corps.

Cooper DeJean , CB, Iowa (No. 23)

Alabama’s Terrion Arnold and Toledo’s Quinyon Mitchell are the consensus top corners in the draft, but DeJean is a strong candidate to be the third one off the board. At 6-foot-1 and 207 pounds, he has the size and athleticism to make a quick transition to the NFL . He’s a playmaker with seven interceptions and three pick sixes in his final two college seasons, and he’s also a physical tackler and explosive blitzer. Some pundits feel he’ll eventually end up at safety depending on what defensive scheme he’s in, but the Ravens love versatile defensive backs. He’s also a standout punt returner, which would be attractive for a Ravens team that lost Devin Duvernay in free agency.

Tyler Guyton , OT, Oklahoma (No. 18)

Several offensive linemen, including Notre Dame’s Joe Alt , Oregon State’s Taliese Fuaga , Washington’s Troy Fautanu , Penn State’s Olu Fashanu and Alabama’s JC Latham , are expected to be gone by the time Baltimore is on the clock. Guyton is probably a long shot to still be there. If he is, it would make for a relatively easy decision for DeCosta and company. Guyton (6-foot-7, 328 pounds) is a plug-and-play right tackle with extreme upside due to his athleticism and range. He didn’t play a ton of college football, so there’s a rawness to his game. However, there is so much to work with and the Ravens trust their ability to develop offensive linemen.

Laiatu Latu , OLB, UCLA (No. 22)

Teams will have to be comfortable with Latu’s medicals. He’ll need to be more consistent as an edge setter, too. As far as a pure pass rusher, Latu is widely considered the best in this draft class. He had 23 1/2 sacks and 34 tackles for loss over his final two college seasons. He also had an FBS-best 24.6 percent pass-rush win rate in his final season. The 6-foot-4, 261-pound outside linebacker has a strong understanding of pass-rush moves and fundamentals and plays with outstanding effort. He’d check a ton of boxes for the Ravens, who need more pass-rush help.

the ravens tour 2023

Amarius Mims , OT, Georgia (No. 17)

Mims is in the same boat as Guyton in that it’s unlikely he’ll still be available for the Ravens. However, if one of the projected early-to-mid first-round tackles falls, it could be Mims because he has limited experience (he started just eight games in college) and has battled some injuries. Mims, though, has all the tools to be a standout right tackle at the next level. At 6-foot-7, 330 pounds, he has the ideal size and length for the position. He plays with power and awareness. If not for the injury concerns, he’d almost certainly be hearing his name in the first half of the first round.

Adonai Mitchell , WR, Texas (No. 35)

The former Longhorn has been a hot name in the pre-draft process with pundits predicting that he’ll be taken sooner than people think. It’s easy to see why. Mitchell has the size (6-foot-4, 192 pounds), speed (4.34 in the 40-yard dash) and ball skills to become a front-line receiver in the NFL. There were some inconsistencies with his performance at Texas and his route running needs polishing. However, the Ravens would be getting a big-play threat, proficient in separating, catching jump balls and deep passes, and picking up yards after the catch. He averaged 15.4 yards per reception at Texas and had 18 touchdowns in 35 college games. He started his career at Georgia, playing under current Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken.

Jordan Morgan , OT/G, Arizona (No. 32)

If the Ravens are determined to get a tackle at No. 30, Morgan figures to be one of their most likely options. Most projections have him coming off the board either late in the first round or early in the second. He’s not physically imposing at 6-foot-4 and 312 pounds, but he’s very athletic and shows good footwork and fundamentals. He played mostly left tackle at Arizona. Yet, he has the tools and smarts to move to the right side. Some evaluators think he projects best as a guard. He’s also now a year removed from an ACL injury, so a team should be getting a healthier player than the one it watched on tape.

Chop Robinson , OLB, Penn State (No. 26)

The Gaithersburg, Md., native put on a show at the NFL Scouting Combine, displaying his speed and physical gifts. He’s an explosive pass rusher who plays with a strong combination of athleticism and power. At 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds, he has room to grow, too. The question for the Ravens, though: Would they be willing to take another first-round shot at a Penn State edge rusher with eye-popping physical traits but modest college production? Oweh, Baltimore’s first-round pick in 2021, had made progress, but the Ravens need immediate pass-rush help and would have to be convinced that Robinson, who had 11 1/2 sacks in 30 college games, could provide it.

Kingsley Suamataia , OT, BYU (No. 38)

Most mock drafts have him going in the second round, but the league-wide need and interest in tackles could push him into the first. Suamataia got extensive snaps at both left and right tackle in college and carries a nice combination of size (6-foot-4, 329 pounds) and athleticism. There are questions about just how high his ceiling is and whether he’d be able to consistently handle speed rushers on the next level. Ravens offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris has a strong track record in developing offensive linemen, and there’s a lot to like about Suamataia.

Nate Wiggins , CB, Clemson (No. 25)

The Ravens love long and athletic corners who can run, and Wiggins fits that profile. He’s 6-foot-2, 185 pounds and clocked a 4.28 in the 40-yard dash, so he can keep pace with any receiver. He’s lanky, so there’s some concern that he could get overmatched physically on contested throws and jump balls. However, he’s held up just fine to this point. He allowed only one catch over 20 yards in his final college season. He also has two defensive touchdowns and a blocked kick on his resume. He’s a name to watch if an offensive lineman the Ravens covet isn’t available at No. 30.

Others of potential interest: Graham Barton , OT/G, Duke; Kamari Lassiter , CB, Georgia; Ladd McConkey , WR, Georgia; Kool-Aid McKinstry , CB, Alabama; Ennis Rakestraw Jr. , CB, Missouri; Darius Robinson , OLB, Missouri; Xavier Worthy , WR, Texas.

2024 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys, Lions make big splashes to improve offense; NFC team moves all around the board

This mock features trades galore, and not just for quarterbacks.

usatsi-21438500-xavier-worthy-horns-wr-2023-1400.jpg

Let's get crazy with trades in this mock draft. Or maybe, realistic? In the 2023 first round, there were six trades. The year before that, a record nine trades went down.

With that in mind, trades are the theme of this mock draft as we close in on draft month. And they won't all just be for quarterbacks, although there's bound to be at least one of those inside the top 10, right?

For more draft coverage, you can hear in-depth analysis twice a week on  "With the First Pick"  -- our year-round NFL Draft podcast with NFL Draft analyst Ryan Wilson and former Vikings general manager Rick Spielman.
