Winamax Poker Tour plans 2022 live relaunch

The Winamax Poker Tour (WiPT) is set to resume its live event offerings after enduring a hiatus now entering its third year. In a Thursday announcement, the France-based site revealed its tentative plans for live 2022 events in Spain, Slovakia, and Ireland.

The planned events are the first for the Winamax Poker Tour since a four-stop 2020 slate was wiped away by the COVID-19 pandemic. Two of the three stops returns to locales that Winamax had planned for 2020.

According to Winamax’s Benjo Dimeo, the first Winamax Poker Tour stop of 2022 will occur in Madrid and is scheduled to run May 7-15. Back in March of 2020, Madrid was to host the live finale of the 2019 Winamax tour, which had several stops in Spain, but the coronavirus forced it to be cancelled just days prior to its start. The new 2022 stop is thus a reunion of sorts, being held at Madrid’s Grand Madrid Torrelodones Casino. Winamax has revealed that the stop will include a €500 6-max Main Event with multiple opening days, but the company is withholding other details.

Next up is a tour stop scheduled for the autumn in Bratislava, Slovakia. Slated to run September 26 – October 2, 2022, the stop replaces possible returns to Lloret de Mar, Spain or Marrakesh, Morocco, which had hosted earlier WiPT stops. Besides revealing that the series will be held at a Crowne Plaza hotel adjacent to the Danube River, which bisects Bratislava, no other details have been release.

The third Winamax Poker Tour stop in the works for 2020 is a late-year return to its origins as a live stop, in Dublin, Ireland. A hoped-for 11th edition of the Winamax Poker Open is tentatively penciled in for late November or early December. “We will do it,” wrote Dimeo, “if the health situation allows it again in Ireland.”

Winamax Club Trophy to be decided in April

There’s one other live event being planned by Winamax in 2022, and it will occur before any of the WiPT stops. Winamax also announced that its annual gathering of local club champions, will be held in April. Winamax continues to partner with local poker organizations in France, and members of 113 clubs are eligible to play for the Club Trophy, normally awarded annually but offered here for the first time since 2019. The gathering will be held April 2-3, 2022 at Disneyland Paris.

Winamax’s 2022 revival of its live-poker offerings resumes a history more than a decade in the making. Though based in France, the company’s first major live-event foray was the 2010 Winamax Poker Open, which was held in Ireland. The true Winamax Poker Tour launched in late 2011 in France, where it ran successfully for several years.

Changes in France’s gambling laws regarding live poker events forced Winamax to move the WiPT completely online in 2018, while live events were held outside of France, most frequently in Spain. That setup remained in place until the COVID-induced 2020 cancellations.

Winamax Announces Three Stop Tour in its Return To Live Poker in 2022

• French online poker giant, Winamax, has announced a tentative live stop schedule for 2022, comprising three stops in three countries.

It is the first time in two years that the operator has scheduled its full suite of live events.

• The schedule’s first stop will be in Madrid, Spain in May, followed by Bratislava, Slovakia in late September, and finally in Dublin, Ireland towards the end of the year.

French online poker giant, Winamax, has announced a tentative live stop schedule for 2022, consisting of three stops in three countries — which puts the schedule in line with pre-pandemic days.

Live poker events are scheduled in Spain, Slovakia, and Ireland and are spread over the course of the year, but detailed information on events remains scant.

The last time Winamax announced a three-stop live tour was back in early 2020 , before the coronavirus caused industry-wide cancellations.

For the new edition of the Winamax Poker Tour 2022, Soixante-Seize got back to us, this time with a new and challenging spot for TV and Digital featuring the Poker tour online-onlive in a very special environment: the magic of the forge of a blacksmith. A challenge that makes us grow and become, better, faster, and smarter. That would be the big title of our process. We challenged ourselves again the software Unreal to create a very realistic blacksmith in his forge shaping the Sword that represents Winamax Epic Tour. With each hit, there is a projection of sparks representing 5 scenes explaining the Poker tour highlights. That was the second challenge, modeling and animating these scenes and then adding millions of particles that we created, and moving them as they were coming from this metallic hit. Nevertheless, it took us a million headaches that become a very well-shaped accomplishment, and to add a bit more difficulty on top, how we would be able to integrate these 2 worlds, the realistic and the particle poker world.

Motion Capture & Metahuman Pipeline

We wanted a photorealistic appearance for the blacksmith. Using face and motion capture techniques, we recorded all the movements and expressions of the character with the help of an actor. With a previous clean-up, we transferred all to UNREAL ENGINE’s METAHUMAN, for 3D development. In addition, the face was created from scratch in Character Creator, to be able to have an original character without presets from Epic games. In addition, our hero’s clothes were created by Marvelous designer to emphasize texture, quality, and realism. This helped us achieve the look we were looking for our main character and to shorten post-production times.

Unreal Engine Environment

We started the environment process with an in-depth investigation of what a blacksmith workspace looks like. Our 3D team modelled and textured all the objects using Cinema 4D and Substance Painter. All of them were imported into Unreal Engine, to create a complete space and end up giving the last lighting touch. Finally, to give a cinematic view, fire, and smoke details were added in post-production achieving the look and feel we were looking for.

Houdini Particles

Each hit of the blacksmith, in the 5 scenes, explains the highlights of the Poker Tour in particle form. All 3D characters were modelled and animated by our team in Cinema 4D. Sparks of fire were created using the simulation of millions of particles, synchronized with the character movement, which was done and rendered in Houdini.

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. Do they speak English in Moscow?

Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. Clement Bonnant Leads Final 14 Players in WPO Bratislava Main Event

After another 19 Levels of play, the Day 2 field of 371 players has been whittled down to 14 in the Winamax Poker Open Bratislava Main Event at the fantastic Casino Banco . All of them are vying to become the winner of the biggest six-max live poker tournament in the history of the French online poker and sports betting giant.

France's Clement Bonnant is the player in pole position to get the lion's share of the biggest prize pool to take place in Slovakia. He'll be doing everything he can to capture the title and €120,000 of the €977,240 purse.

However, just ten big blinds separate the top four biggest chip stacks, with the likes of Adrien Guyon , Vincent Malet and Romain Semler just one big pot away of taking the chip lead.

All of the players who returned to the felt today locked up the €1,000 min-cash, however when all was said and done on Day 2, just three tables remained. The players who are still in contention have all secured a minimum payday of €7,500.

Of those still in with of a shot of achieving WPO glory, Nacho Barbero is the most notable name. The Argentinian poker player won his first gold bracelet this summer at the 2022 World Series of Poker . He took down the $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty event and the $587,520 first-place prize.

Nine members of the world famous Winamax Team Pro made it through to Day 2, with Romain Lewis going the furthest. Loic Debregeas had bagged the chip lead from Day 1d and was a top ten stack coming into today's play however, it soon evaporated in the fast and furious action that Day 2 saw.

Gherciu was unable to make a set and Matraruga's nines remained best to send his opponent out in 18th place.
