“[Jay Monahan] Stabbed Rory in the Back”: PGA Tour Legend Makes a Brutal Revelation

T he PGA Tour’s merger with PIF and LIV Golf when announced on June 6, 2023 took the entire golf world by storm. It was brought to everyone’s attention after the amalgamation news went viral that the Tour Commissioner, Jay Monahan had kept the update under the wraps and did not inform anyone. Not even the Tour’s most favorite golfers, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods . The backlash that Monahan received at that time was unmatched. As it turns out, the golf world is not yet done calling him out for keeping things secret!

In a recent appearance on the No Laying Up podcast, former PGA Tour pro, Ken Green, who is renowned for his candid nature, charged Jay Monahan with the accusations of keeping the pros in dark. He also reflected on the fact that he believes that Monahan’s actions caused a deep sense of betrayal amongst the Tour players such as the Northern Irishman and the Spaniard, Jon Rahm .

According to Green’s claims, Jay Monahan and the PGA Tour board were masterminds of deception and withheld the core information from the players they claim to represent. Emphasizing his point, Green said, “You know, didn’t give them a heads up on the LIV so-called merger and all this…just stabbed Rory in the back because Rory was basically the tour spokesman. “

Green also hinted at McIlroy’s subsequent change of stance towards the Saudi-funded league and said, “He’s gone and done a complete 180.”  He claimed McIlroy’s’softened’ stance as evidence of Monahan’s miscalculated tactics. The 4x major winner went from an outright LIV Golf critic to accepting that he was “too judgemental.”  The 65-year-old not only spoke about how McIlroy was stabbed but also shared his two cents about Rahm’s $560 million defection.

Rahm, although he never directed any strong criticism towards LIV Golf, never favored the league either! After days of his rumored defection, he announced his move and created havoc in the golf world . One might wonder: why exactly did the reigning Masters champion jump the ship—for money? for a better schedule? No! As per Green, “ he (Rahm) didn’t just switch without a reason,” but  instead “he made it feel like he got stabbed in the back, and he said, Scr*w you.”

Ken Green said that, for his deceitful move, Monahan should have been fired immediately. Calling the entire “wrong” way the merger was handled a “scam,”  the 5x PGA Tour winner was surprised that the commissioner still had the job. He also said that the holistic sport is “just too good a game to be, you know, playing all the shenanigans in the back door.”

Getting critically scrutinized for his decision appears to have become the new norm for Monahan. Even at the latest PGA Tour event, he was booed by the fans when he came forward to present the trophy to Scottie Scheffler .

Jay Monahan often finds himself at the center of criticism

Golfer Jimmy Walker also chose to show disapproval of whatever Monahan had to say. As per Walker, he does not pay much attention to the Commissioner’s words because “he’s full of it.” In his conversation with Bunker, Walker reiterated his stance and said, “ They’ve kept us in the dark, and a lot of this has been handled extremely poorly. Do I have any faith in the tour? I don’t know. I really don’t think we’ve got some of the best and brightest working on it. ”

On the contrary, according to Monahan, he is the best man to lead the way for the PGA Tour, but not everybody seems to think that way , and some may even believe that he still has “ a long way to go. ”

Just a day after his announcement, Monahan seemed to have seen the flaws in his methodology. “In allowing confidentiality to prevail, I did not communicate to very important constituents and I regret that. I really do. But as we sit here today, I think it’s important to reiterate that I feel like the move that we’ve made and how we move forward is in the best interest of our sport.” he said to Golf Channel.

With the merger talks still lingering, the final outcome remains to be seen. But for now, all Jay Monahan could do is prove that he truly is the best man to do the job!

Madonna kicks off Celebration Tour with nonstop hits, performance from her daughter

The singer kicked off her world tour in London.

Madonna officially kicked off her Celebration World Tour in London over the weekend, wowing fans with a litany of hits and memorable surprises.

Among the highlights of the show at O2 Arena on Saturday was when the pop icon sang a snippet of "Little Star," which she dedicated to her daughter Lourdes Leon, who celebrated her 27th birthday on opening night.

Leon appeared alongside Madonna's 11-year-old daughter Estere, who impressed the crowd when she vogued onstage.

Madonna and Leon both looked on proudly as Estere moved across the stage.

Many of the Queen of Pop's most beloved songs were included in the set list, from "Into the Groove" to "Open Your Heart" to "Vogue," as well as "Live to Tell," "Like a Prayer," "Ray of Light" and "Holiday."

Variety noted that she threw some snippets of other artists' songs into the mix, including Sam Smith and Kim Petras' "Unholy" and Prince's "Let's Go Crazy." She also performed a cover of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" and did a mashup of her late friend Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" and her own hit "Like a Virgin."

Madonna highlighted the controversy she's caused in her career by showing news headlines and video montages throughout the evening, according to Variety. The video screens also paid tribute to friends she'd lost to AIDS, and she offered a plea for peace in the Middle East. At various times, she "flew" over the crowd in an illuminated "portal" that took her through different eras in her career.

Bruce Springsteen returns to the stage in Phoenix after health issues postponed his 2023 world tour

Bruce Springsteen plays his guitar on stage during his concert of Bruce Springsteen and The E...

PHOENIX (AP) —  Bruce Springsteen  and the E Street Band returned to the stage Tuesday evening at the Footprint Center in Phoenix in a triumphant reboot of the Boss’ postponed 2023 world tour.

In September Springsteen, 74, announced his tour would  be delayed until 2024 , citing doctor’s advice as he recovered from peptic ulcer disease.

“The Boss” arrived on stage to an audience chorus of “Bruuuuce!” Wearing dark jeans and a rolled up red plaid flannel shirt, he had the energy of a man half his age. His signature “One, two, three, four” was the only thing that separated most songs, showing no signs of his illness from the previous year. Once he shouted, “Good evening, Arizona” the show was off and running.

Springsteen spoke to the crowd briefly about his illness prior to playing his final song “I’ll See You In My Dreams” solo on stage. “Phoenix, first I want to apologize if there was any discomfort because we had to move the show last time. . . . I hope we didn’t inconvenience you too much.”

The 29-song show came in just under three hours, but “The Boss” hardly broke a sweat while showing off a strong voice, all the while dancing, tearing into guitar solos, playing the harmonica and even ripping his shirt open near the end of the show.

On stage with Springsteen was the legendary E Street Band which features drummer Max Weinberg, bassist Garry Tallent, keyboardists Roy Bittan and Charlie Giordano, guitarists Stevie Van Zandt and Nils Lofgren, saxophonist Jake Clemons — nephew of original and still missed sax man Clarence Clemons who died in 2011 — guitarist and violin player Soozie Tyrell, a full horn and brass section and four backup vocalists. The only missing member of the band was Springsteen’s wife, singer and guitarist Patti Scialfa.

Springsteen performed most of the hits in his vast collection, minus “Born In The U.S.A.,” but he added covers “Nightshift” by the Commodores, “Because The Night” by Patti Smith Group, and a surprise: “Twist and Shout” by The Beatles. Fans went wild for “No Surrender,” “Born To Run,” “Rosalita,” “Dancing In The Dark,” “Glory Days” and “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” that left the rocker grinning from ear-to-ear as he conducted fans singing along like his own chorus.

This year has been particularly challenging for Springsteen. In addition to his health issues, in January his mother, Adele Ann Springsteen, a fan favorite who could frequently be seen dancing at his shows,  died . She was 98.

Two days after her death, Springsteen performed at  the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year  event, which honored Jon Bon Jovi for his musical achievements and philanthropic efforts.

The 2024 edition of the tour kicked off in Phoenix and ends Nov. 22 in Vancouver, Canada. It hits 17 countries across 52 dates, including a special performance on Sept. 15 where Springsteen will headline the Sea.Hear.Now Festival in his hometown of Asbury Park, New Jersey.

Mother of murder victim in Connecticut speaks ahead of sentencing hearing for killer

“i feel like i failed her. i failed my daughter because i didn't get justice,” said kathy daversa, shelley stamp’s mother., by jennifer joas • published march 20, 2024 • updated 2 hours ago.

The family of Shelley Stamp prepared to face their daughter’s murderer in court on Wednesday for a sentencing hearing.

Stamp was randomly attacked in Waterbury in October 2022.

She was a para-professional at Waterbury Public Schools and worked with children with special needs including autism. Stamp also waitressed to make extra money and was returning home from work when the attack happened.

Heather Anderson attacked Stamp in her apartment, broke in, killed her and robbed her, according to prosecutors.

“She was left to die in a puddle of her own blood. The woman said, 'I heard the death rattle and I thought about calling 911.' She knew my daughter was dying. She continued to ransack her apartment and her refrigerator and take food. She was looking for more money or things she could pawn while my daughter lay dying on the floor,” said Kathy Daversa, Stamp’s mother.

During the sentencing hearing, Stamp’s mother and sister will be able to read their victim impact statements and face Anderson one last time.

The Stamp family hoped for a life sentence, but Anderson agreed to a plea deal of 30 years in prison, with a minimum of 25.

On Wednesday, Anderson was sentenced to 30 years, with 25 minimum to serve.

“I feel like I failed her. I failed my daughter because I didn't get justice. I tried and 30 years getting out in 25, who knows if things change, maybe sooner? It's not fair,” said Daversa.

Daversa said her daughter was a smart, caring woman who had a beautiful singing voice. She was also a big sister and an aunt to two nieces.

“They were her life and they miss her terribly. And her sister and her were only a year and a half apart. They were best friends and I was always so proud of that relationship they had. My daughter is just lost without her. We all are. She was a big part of our family,” Daversa said.

The other woman, Shannon Gritzbach, who is accused of driving the car Anderson was in is facing misdemeanor charges and is not in jail.

From the moment Daughters took the stage you could feel the energy building FAST. The second they started their 1st, the place EXPLODED!!! This new album “You Won’t Get What You Want” showcases the EXTREME GROWTH they have harnessed from taking an 8 year hiatus.

Daughters have always been ahead of their time. It seems that the break they took allowed everyone to catch up. From beginning to end they gave EVERYTHING and then they gave MORE!!! The set ended with such a finale no one could possibly expect an encore. You were just left standing there in pure awe of what you just witnessed.

Amazingly Crafted Live Show. If your lucky enough to have Daughters come to your town AND get your hands on a ticket? Do all you can to get there. You will witness something very special. A band at the TOP of their game.

This whole new album is so on the pulse of the atmosphere of the planet. And that scares me to my core.

A specific truth that encompasses our already distopian world.

I was in the front row and suffered all forms of abuse: I got spat on, kicked, and pushed by the singer, my feet got stomped on, I got feet put in my face by crowdsurfers. And I loved EVERY.DAMN.SECOND.OF.IT.

THIS SHOW WAS THE BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE. It was entrancing in a very cathartic way, it felt as if it could all go horribily wrong at the drop of a hat in the best way possible. Insanity bottled up that just exploded on stage for the whole show.

I can only wholeheartedly recommend you go see Daughters live. You've been warned, but you'll never be ready.

What a show.

Just as before at the Bottom of the Hill Club Daughters did exactly what they do best. No Bullshit. Raw. Deep. Inflective. Confirms my doubt in the security of my children’s lives. This world, is opening UP!!! How’s your wage going? Hmm? How’s that paycheck? You gimme gummies SON OF A BITCH!!! See how dollars hold when water is scarce. Please and thank you ARE FUCKED. THANKS D.

Side note, Gauge Away brought some raw emotion. If they are touring with Daughters in your town? That’s a 2fer. Go get it.

Positively terrifying. I've been going to gruesome punk shows for years but this is an entirely different variety of abrasion and thunder. Daughters are dark. Daughters are loud. Daughters want to have a good time. I think. Truth told, it's hard to tell.

They will wear you out. They will scare you. They will entertain you. They will send you back to the first show you were ever intimidated at and bring you back.

Let's see: there were multiple crowd surfers (including Alexis himself), I got crushed and pushed around multiple times, I almost fell to the ground some of those times, multiple pokes in the ribs, a few knocks on the head, the short girl in front of me almost choked me out with her head so I had to move it to the side.

It was awesome, I want to do it again!

Daughters really care about what they do. They're technically proficient, talented, and creative, but what they really want you to know is that they give a damn. I've never been to a more intense show in my entire life and I don't know where I'll go to see another.

One of the best concerts I've been to. Alexis the vocalist gave it his all as well as the rest of the band. Great sound, great performances. Tight and assertive. A journey and onslaught. Recommended!
