REVIEW: Redsbaby SKIP Really is the Ultimate Travel Pram
Before we had children, my husband and I loved to travel. We loved eating out, exploring new cities, visiting attractions, seeing sights and discovering new places.
That’s been trickier as parents, but we recently took our five-year-old and two-year-old on holiday to melbourne and were lucky enough to have a new redsbaby skip stroller along for the trip..
Did we like it? Keep on reading to find out.
Get skipping with Redsbaby
It’s hard to overstate how much easier this travel stroller made our holiday. It meant we could keep our little runner safe when we were in the busy city streets and moving around airports (no Home Alone moments for us!). We enjoyed the freedom we had knowing he was safe and secure while we explored, took photos, saw sights and enjoyed our holiday.
The handle on the SKIP was at a comfortable height for both myself and my husband to hold. And we definitely made a lot of use out of the basket below the seat (nappy bags, shopping, snacks, drink bottles – the works!)
The SKIP was great for everything from just ducking out to a cafe to taking for a whole day adventuring.
Accessories for days!
The SKIP is also a super compact pram so fit easily into our car with all our luggage for nearly a week away. There’s a really handy carry strap too, so we could sling it over a shoulder while boarding the plane, getting onto a bus or climbing stairs and still have our hands free for the kids.
And the accessories, oh the accessories! There’s a whole swag of them and all just as well-designed as the stroller. The SKIP organiser attaches easily to the handle and was the perfect place to store my phone, the map when we were at the zoo, public transport cards for touching on and off – it was super handy and I found myself using this pocket all the time. The head pillow and seat liner easily attached to the pram and added to the comfort, especially for extended trips. It would also be easier to clean the liner than the pram itself, and I loved how it fit perfectly and matched the SKIP.
While we mostly had good fortune with the Melbourne weather, we were grateful for the rain cover when caught by sudden showers. It was easy to use and provided excellent coverage, keeping our little one snug and dry. We also tried out the sun and sleep shade – it’s very easy to attach to the pram hood and provides cover to the entire pram. The cup holder was another favourite accessory – it easily slides on to the side of the handle and it can go on either side (which I was particularly impressed with as a leftie). It was great having a drink bottle conveniently located right by my hands.
This super handy travel pram retails for $399.

Our 5 favourite features of the Redsbaby SKIP
1. the compact fold.
It folds up small enough to fit in the overhead luggage compartment! This means you can roll right up to the gate of the plane – our excited two-year-old was safely buckled in right up until he had to be safely buckled in! It also meant we had the SKIP right with us as we claimed the rest of our luggage and made our way through the busy and crowded airport.
2. Easy and total recline
While my son rarely naps at home these days, huge outings and late nights on holidays meant he was nodding off in the Redsbaby SKIP . This was perfect as we could just lay him back and the three of us could keep exploring (and even enjoy a sneaky ice-cream while he napped).
3. Excellent sun cover
The shade provided by the sun cover was wonderful for Australian adventures! We had great luck with the Melbourne weather with warm days and sunshine for most of our trip, so the generous hood on this travel pram came in very handy.
4. Lightweight yet sturdy
This also makes the Redsbaby SKIP easy to manoeuvre to get through tight spaces like markets and shops, getting on and off public transport, and into restaurants and other places you might find and want to explore. It also handled just fine over bumpy surfaces like uneven paths and cross country through parks and grassy areas. And when we had to carry it, the light 6.5 kilo weight meant no sore shoulders or awkward lifting.
5. Handy 20kg capacity
I highly recommend the Redsbaby SKIP to anyone looking for a quality travel pram , or even a compact and lightweight pram for everyday use and running around. It’s a great option and it really made our holiday.

This would be the perfect stroller for holidays, trying to juggle two small ones up to the boarding gate can be a struggle, but this would be amazing.
As a short person the adjustable height would be great
What a great way to enjoy numerous all Aussie adventures with a Redsbaby Skip, Whether it be rain hail or shine the ease and comfort will mean any outing is a hit!
We have our first family OS trip booked for next year as a family of 7. Knowing our bubbas transportation is sturdy, lightweight, compact and super stylish would make our site seeing so much more enjoyable.
How good would this be! I love that you can fold it up and carry it!
The compact fold is amazing on this! Imagine being able to fit things in the car alongside the stroller instead of playing tetris everytime you wanted to buy something.
I love that this pram is stylish as well as compact! Not many travel prams offer both comfort and the looks
This looks incredible! I’m currently pregnant and we have our first trip (Uluru) coming up when baby is 6 months old. This would be just perfect for travel. I also love how light it is as we don’t have a car.
This pram is perfect – folding up and able to carry it!
We love our skip we recently purchased for a trip. The grandparents would love one for when they have the grandkids!
We have a rickety old pram for the baby and would love to try this awesome looking one. 🙂
Perfect for going Down to Melbourne to visit family, we have an old pram that is on it’s last legs.
I’ve searched online for hours for the perfect compact travel pram for my 4-month-old (meaning deep recline necessary) that can also hold my incredibly tall 3-year-old when she needs a rest. This is by far the most promising as none of the others seem to meet that need! We are going to visit my family and friends on a multi-stop USA vacation in 3 weeks and I would be over the moon to have this pram for the trip.
Love this pram!

They have some issues with the container and my order arrived just few days before my trip overseas. The bad fits the uppababy vista but you have to take all the wheels off. You can also pack another few small items. I just wish it would have 4 wheels instead of 2. It is very hard to pull while you are giggling all your luggage
Recently purchased this bag for a two week trip interstate with our 5 month old. It was awesome! Kept the pram protected as check-in baggage and had so much extra room inside to stuff extra shoes or baby things. Highly recommend if you’re planning to fly and take your pram!
We recently travelled on a plane and this was a must-have. Super easy to use and kept our pram safe from any damage.
We have a Redsbaby metro pram with bassinet. The Edward's and Co travel bag fit our pram and accessories without issue and was a life saver for travel, ensuring our pram didn’t get a single scratch or dent.

Redsbaby METRO2 review
- Becky Gower
In a nutshell
A new, reasonably affordable buggy that's set to take the UK market by storm
What we tested
- Easy fold, large seat, pockets on seat, generous basket, get car seat adaptors for Britax infant car seat
- Car seat adapters for Maxi-Cosi, Cybex, Joie and Be Safe sold separately at £20
Showing item 1 of 18
Key features of the Redsbaby METRO²:
- Age suitability: From birth to 20kg (approx 4 years)
- Type of buggy: travel system
- Fold: Two-handed, compact
- Weight: 10.5kg (chassis and seat)
- Carseat compatible: Yes, for a Britax infant carrier the adaptors are included, but for Maxi-Cosi, Cybex, Joie and Be Safe car seats the adaptors are sold separately at £20
- Features: Adjustable handle bar (to 108cm), extra tall seat, adjustable footrest, extendable hood, ventilation panel
- RRP: £475 (including carrycot)
Launched in 2013, Redsbaby is a popular and award-winning Australian brand that is relatively new to the UK market.
It promises attention to design and functionality in equal measures, and its small range of pushchairs is understated and sleek. They include the Jive², which can be converted into a tandem, and the METRO², which is its lightest and most budget-friendly travel system.
With a generous seat, the METRO² is suitable from birth to approximately 4 years, as the seat is tested to an impressive 20kg load. The METRO² seems to be sold on the fact that it suits city living and a sociable lifestyle, with its lightweight and compact credentials - easy to fold and transport, to pop in and out of a car, travel on bus, train and so on.
Its RRP of £475 (which includes the carrycot) is very reasonable and compares well with competitors. The Babystyle Hybrid Edge , for example, has an RRP of £499 (without carrycot), although it can be converted into a tandem; while Bugaboo’s Cameleon costs upward of £800.
You can buy the METRO² directly from Redsbaby .

First Impressions of the Redsbaby METRO²
My first impressions were how easy it was to put together and what a lovely rich green the ‘forest’ colour was (it is also available in black with brown faux leather accents). Inside the box was the frame, the seat unit and the four wheels which slotted straight on, taking me less than two minutes to assemble.
We have had a few pushchairs over the years, and I was immediately impressed with this one. As I wasn’t familiar with the brand, I was unsure how it would compare to some of the more expensive and well-known models I have tried, but it can definitely compete.
What age is the METRO² suitable for?
If you go for the option that includes the carrycot, you can use the METRO² from birth - or you could also use it in carseat mode, with additional adaptors. Unusually, the seat is also tested to a massive 20kg, which is approximately 4 years old, so this travel system should see you through well into toddler-hood.
The METRO² can also be used as a full travel system, you can buy the pushchair with or without the carrycot, and you can also buy separate adapters to add a Maxi-Cosi car seat.
The carrycot looks lovely and cosy for newborns. It has the same design details as the toddler seat, with peekaboo window and ventilation in the hood - really well designed. I think this pushchair is great value as a travel system, as it will last you from newborn until your child is able to walk everywhere.
How much does the Redsbaby METRO² weigh?
The METRO² weighs 10.5kg for chassis and seat together, making it very easy to lift and transport. It was so easy to get in and out of the boot of the car and onto public transport.
How do you fold the Redsbaby METRO²?
The METRO² can be folded in seconds - and in one piece if the seat is world facing (two pieces if it is parent facing): You retract the handle bar and then push two levers on the sides of the chassis and fold the buggy down.
The safety clip engages automatically, keeping the buggy from coming apart again, so it is really easy to transport. The fold is quite compact as the seat moulds around the frame, with the adjustable footrest tucking in nicely too.
With seat attached the fold is 79x37x61cm, so quite reasonable for a full-sized travel system.
We've also reviewed the Redsbaby Jive2 buggy , here's what we think about it.
10 of the most compact folding buggies
How well does it cope with different terrain?
The METRO² feels easy to push and makes light of curbs. The puncture-proof tyres make it ideal for all terrain and I had no problem in parks and cobbles with the large rear wheels. It was also lovely and smooth when out shopping.
How do you engage the brake?
The brake is easy to use and located along the back bar and the frame feels strong and durable.
Is the handlebar comfortable?
The height of the handle is adjustable up to 108cm using the levers on both sides and I found it a great height for me on the tallest setting (I am 5’9’’). It is made of a soft leatherette.
What is the seat unit like?
The seat unit is generous and easily accommodated my, admittedly petite, 2-year-old with plenty of growing space. I think the seat, which Redsbaby describes as ‘extra tall’ 53cm, would accommodate an average 3-year-old really well, and is certainly more generous than many of its competitors. In fact it is designed to accommodate a load of up to 20kg, which corresponds more to your average 4-year-old.
Best buggies for large babies and toddlers
In addition, the five point harness feels secure and consists of five separate straps that all clip together so you can just do up the shoulder straps or just the waist straps if you want. It was secure and my daughter was unable to get out of it on her own.
Does the seat recline?
The seat has three recline levels and lies back to a near-flat position perfect for nap times.
What is the hood like?
The hood is huge with a panel that can zip out and another panel that can be unzipped to allow ventilation. It also has a magnetic peekaboo flap to allow you to check on your little one.
How accessible is the basket?
The basket on this pushchair is very generous - secure and easily accessible whichever way the child is facing. It holds 10kg and is one of the largest I have seen on a travel system.
One of my favourite things about the pushchair though are the pockets on the back of the seat. They are very well designed and hold quite a bit which means you can pop a lot in there - readily accessible - for a short trip. It easily accommodates some nappies and wipes in one side and a phone and purse in the other.
What’s in the box?
- Carrycot (if selecting combined option)
What accessories are available?
- Maxi-Cosi carseat adaptors (£20)
- Pushchair Organiser (£25)
- Liner (£25)
- Cocoon (£50)
- Cup holder (£15)
- Cup holder insert (£10)
What should you know before you buy this pushchair?
It's good to know that you now get the rain cover free with your buggy, instead of buying it as an additional extra.
However, the pushchair is currently on sale on the Redsbaby website for £325 without the carrycot or £375 with it, which I do think is great value as this pushchair rivals many of the big names in the market and the add-ons are all competitively priced.
Who would the Redsbaby METRO² be best for?
If you buy the toddler seat/carrycot combination, you should be able to use the METRO² for many years. As the seat can be used up to 20kg, you can trust it to last up until preschool, which is great news. It is also very reasonably priced with the design details of a more expensive system, so it’s well worth considering for first-time parents.
Best pushchairs for an infant
MadeForMums verdict:
The Redsbaby METRO² is a fantastic pushchair rivaling many of the most well-known and popular names in the market. It is so well-designed - the brand really has thought of everything, and the Metro² is perfect for a modern family.
How we tested the METRO²
Becky has been testing the Redsbaby METRO² with her petite 2-year-old daughter. With three separate school runs and a busy social life, they are on the go a lot and I need a pushchair that can keep up, but also offers a comfortable place to nap on a long day.

Redsbaby SKIP2
We love this as a travel pram. Super light weight and easy to use! Would highly recommend.
So easy to use!
Absolutely love this stroller! It is so easy to put up & down. I purchased the sunshade as well and it makes it easier for my baby to nap in. I love how it goes completely flat and has a big basket at the bottom. The hood is also very big. Comes with a storage bag too. Highly recommend!
Excellent travel pram!
Really great travel pram that is quickly becoming our go to pram for everyday use. My 9 month old sleeps well in this pram as it reclines back further than any other travel pram we looked at. It also has a generous canopy for sun protection. Basket underneath fits my Oioi nappy bag. Folded pram fits in the overhead compartment on a plane. Would highly recommend.

2. Easy and total recline. While my son rarely naps at home these days, huge outings and late nights on holidays meant he was nodding off in the Redsbaby SKIP. This was perfect as we could just lay him back and the three of us could keep exploring (and even enjoy a sneaky ice-cream while he napped). 3.
