It's finally been confirmed: Taylor Swift 's Eras Tour has been turned into a concert film, and it's set to be released in cinemas across worldwide in October 2023.

Directed by Sam Wrench, the Eras Tour concert film will give fans the chance to see Taylor up-close during the show, like you're right on stage with her, alongside incredible new camera angles that haven't yet been captured by livestreams from fans in the front rows and the nosebleeds.

The concert film, which is 2 hours and 45 minutes long , will be screened in participating cinemas across the world. Yep, after only announcing the North American release, Taylor has now confirmed that fans across the globe (in over 100 countries!) will be able to watch the film on the big screen!

• Seniors (age 60+): $13.13 (plus tax)

The prices listed above are for standard screenings. For Dolby Cinema and Imax showings, they may increase. Tickets are available to buy at AMC Theatres and Fandango now.

Demand to see Taylor's Eras Tour on the big screen will be massive. To prepare for the huge amount of fans wanting to see the show, AMC have stated that the film will play at EVERY SINGLE ONE of its U.S. locations at least FOUR TIMES a day, four days a week.

In Europe, every single Odeon cinema will also be playing the film. (Vue, Everyman, Empire and various other cinema chains in the UK will also be screening the film.)

Will Taylor Swift's Eras Tour movie be available online?

Not yet – it looks like the Eras Tour film will be a theatrical release, but that doesn't mean it won't come to streaming once Taylor has completed the tour in full.

The final Eras Tour date is November 23rd 2024. It's not confirmed, but it's possible that the full Eras Tour concert film may come to streaming by December 2024. We'll update this article as updates come in.

Will Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert film be released across the rest of the world?

Yes! After much disappointment from international fans who initially thought they'd be unable to watch the Eras Tour on the big screen, Taylor has confirmed that she'll be releasing the movie worldwide.

The Eras Tour movie will open in more than 100 countries worldwide on Oct. 13th.

However, some countries will have to wait until November 3rd to see it in cinemas. Those countries include: Brazil, Bulgaria, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Macau, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey and Vietnam.

If you couldn't afford a Taylor Swift ticket, or want to see the show again, or the show in your city was sold out, or want to see what the hype is about, there's good news.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Concert Film is coming to AMC theaters across the U.S., Canada and Mexico starting Oct. 13, Swift announced Thursday.

"The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I'm overjoyed to tell you that it'll be coming to the big screen soon," she said on Instagram . "Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged."

Tickets for the tour went on sale on Ticketmaster in November 2022, but the process went haywire , as the website crashed multiple times, prices fluctuated, sales were canceled and fans were left waiting for hours, only to end up empty-handed. The fiasco prompted Congress to investigate Ticketmaster's business practices.

Economists estimate her tour could generate $5 billion by its end in November 2024. The average Swift concertgoer has spent almost $1,300 to attend, including the price of a ticket, plus things like merchandise, hair and outfits and a hotel and flight for travelers, Maura Klaunig, an analyst at Camoin Associates, told NPR.

But if navigating marked-up resale prices isn't your jam, you can catch the show on the big screen for a fraction of the price. A standard ticket is $19.89 (a nod to the title of her 5th album, maybe?) and $13.13 for children and seniors. Upgraded tickets are also available for IMAX and Dolby.

Tickets have already gone on sale on the AMC and Fandango websites. The movie will have at least four showtimes Thursdays through Sundays at every AMC location.

In anticipation of the demand, AMC said it has strengthened its website and online ticket servers to handle "more than five times the largest influx of ticket-buying traffic the Company has ever experienced before." Members of AMC's Stubs A-List program won't be allowed to use their rewards or discounts for the film, and AMC is temporarily reducing the amount of online tickets sold for other movies.

Still, AMC warned that customers "may experience delays, longer-than-usual ticket-purchase waiting-room times and possible outages" and will try to fix them as soon as possible.

AMC is also partnering with other movie theaters, including Cinemark in the U.S., Cineplex in Canada and Cinepolis in Mexico to get Swift on more screens.

The film is directed by Sam Wrench, who is behind similar concert films featuring Lizzo, BTS, Mary J. Blige, Brandi Carlile, Billie Eilish, Jennifer Lopez and Pentatonix.

While there are undoubtedly still Taylor Swift fans out there who are salty with Ticketmaster for causing them to miss out on seeing the Eras Tour live, AMC’s getting ready to offer them a chance to see their idol in all her glory at movie theaters across the country.

Variety reports that AMC is bringing Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour — a filmed recording of Swift’s newest show — to every single one of its US theaters for multiple daily showings on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays beginning this October. Along with showings in regular theaters, AMC also plans for The Eras Tour to play in a number of its premium IMAX and Dolby locations. Here in the US, there are also plans in the works for the show to come to more theater chains, including Regal and Cinemark.

In an Instagram post about The Eras Tour coming to the big screen, Swift encouraged fans to come wearing their Eras attire and friendship bracelets and made clear that both singing and dancing along will be strongly encouraged.

In its own statement about the event, AMC emphasized how much of a cultural phenomenon the Eras Tour itself has been and noted that it wants to make its special showings as accessible (both in terms of availability and affordability) as possible. AMC also noted it’s upgraded its own ticketing infrastructure “to handle more than five times the largest influx of ticket-buying traffic the company has ever experienced before” in order to ensure that everyone who wants a ticket can get one.

“But AMC is also aware that no ticketing system in history seems to have been able to accommodate the soaring demand from Taylor Swift fans when tickets are first placed on sale,” the company said. “Guests wanting to be the first to buy their tickets online may experience delays, longer-than-usual ticket-purchase waiting-room times and possible outages. AMC is committed to ensuring any delays or outages are addressed as quickly as possible.”

In order to prevent scalpers from buying up tickets and reselling them at higher rates, AMC isn’t offering refunds for The Eras Tour showings, and people will be barred from using movie theater passes or theater-specific membership perks to secure seats. That said, for showings on regular screens, AMC is standardizing ticket prices — $19.89 plus tax for adults and $13.13 for children and seniors (prices for IMAX and Dolby Theatre will vary from location to location). Screenings of The Eras Tour are set to begin on Friday, October 13th, and tickets are now available on AMC’s website.

How Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Concert Film Scrambled (and Saved) the Fall Movie Season

Taylor Swift always knew her record-breaking Eras Tour wouldn’t be confined to the mega-sized stadiums she was selling out. And she was right: Her accompanying concert film — which brings the epic, three-hour show to its widest audience yet — enters theaters on Oct. 13 as one of the highest-grossing in history with $100 million in advance global ticket sales.

Before the tour of the summer made its way to the big screen in the fall, representatives from the pop star’s camp began holding meetings with major studios. They were hoping to find a distribution partner for an Eras Tour concert film, a cinematic rendering of her SoFi Stadium show in Los Angeles. Swift, who had previously met with studios in 2021 about a theatrical run for her short film “All Too Well,” was presented with full-blown plans that included marketing ideas and a strategy for later rolling out the film on streaming and home entertainment platforms.

But sources say Swift’s camp seemed less interested in where the film would ultimately play after moviegoers had a chance to see it in cinemas. They primarily cared about giving fans who hadn’t been able to spring for concert tickets (or were foiled by the TicketMaster meltdown) the opportunity to experience Eras in all its glory — friendship bracelets and glittery outfits encouraged. To that end, some of the major streamers didn’t engage much with the star, believing she wouldn’t be interested in what they had to offer.

Executives who tried to land a distribution deal felt burned by her unconventional route. And some studios are annoyed with AMC Theatres, believing the exhibitor has encroached on their territory. “All I know is she got a lot of free advice,” says one executive, who believes Swift was never really interested in finding a studio to distribute the picture.

A source close to the negotiations pushed back on the characterization. “This sounds like sour grapes,” the source said. “Everyone had the opportunity to bid on this, but ultimately Taylor decided to bet on herself.”

Others believe her approach has the potential to be game-changing for film distribution. Already, Beyoncé has announced that a concert film of her Renaissance World Tour is headed to cinemas in December, using a similar deal to the one forged by AMC and Swift. However, insiders point out that few other artists command that kind of zeitgeist-setting power.

Cutting out the middleman could be lucrative for the musician. Swift’s camp will receive roughly 57% of ticket sales, with theaters keeping the remaining revenues and AMC taking a small distribution fee (much less than what studios would have charged). As for exhibitors, many feel it’s a generous deal, noting that Marvel movies receive roughly 65% of box office profits.

Based on the “Eras Tour” movie’s massive pre-sales, Swift’s camp will receive at least $60 million, a sum that should climb even higher beyond opening weekend. That’s to say nothing of home entertainment. After its theatrical run, Swift can carve out a separate deal there — and may even choose to self-distribute again, where she could partner with a company like Apple to release the movie on iTunes.

Bypassing studios also allowed Swift to release the film in a timelier fashion, without needing to wait for distributors to find a convenient spot for her on the release calendar. Instead, it’s Swift setting the schedule for not just her film, but those around it. Four movies — “The Exorcist: Believer,” “Dumb Money,” Hilary Swank’s “Ordinary Angels” and Meg Ryan’s rom-com “What Happens Later” — have moved their debuts to avoid “Eras Tour,” which premieres on Oct. 13, Swift’s lucky number.

For movie theaters, however, it’s an unexpected boon in what would have been an otherwise desolate fall — especially after the vacancy left by “Dune: Part Two,” which moved from November to March 2024. Swift’s film is projected to open to at least $100 million (with estimates as high as $125 million or more) in North America alone. It would be the only film in October, the first since July, and the sixth of the year, to hit triple digits in its debut. Box office experts believe ticket sales may not hold as steady in the subsequent weekends and expect overall revenues to top out between $200 million and $250 million.

Swift’s film will achieve similar box office heights with far fewer showtimes. Another rarity: “Eras Tour” is only screening on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to make it feel less like a movie and more like an event. This way, the team behind the film hopes, there’s a better chance that audiences will be able to watch the concert extravaganza with a packed crowd and not in half-empty theaters during a Monday matinee.

And, of course, Swift is a global draw. Initially “Eras Tour” was only going to play on the big screen in North America, where the pop star has already wrapped up the first leg of her domestic tour. (She’s returning to the U.S. and Canada next October.) Then tickets started selling less like a concert film and more like an all-audience tentpole. It set a single-day domestic record for AMC after selling $26 million in less than 24 hours, besting the all-time benchmark previously held by “Spider-Man: No Way Home” ($16.9 million). With such strong momentum, Swift and AMC decided to release the film simultaneously in 100 countries around the world.

They’ve been able to amend plans so quickly because anything pertaining to Swift requires much fewer marketing dollars, at least compared to other films of this scale. Most of the promotion for “Eras Tour” has been limited to only a handful of social media posts by Swift, who has more than 350 million Instagram and Twitter followers. As they say, one post in the hands of the biggest pop star in the world is worth a million TV spots and billboards.

If you are in the united states:.

AMC theaters have entered into an exclusive agreement with Swift, allowing only their locations in the United States to screen The Eras Tour movie starting October 13. Canadian theaters will screen the movie as well.

Within minutes of theater tickets for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour being released, the AMC app crashed with fans attempting to buy advance tickets for the movie. This marks the second instance this year where Swifties caused a major website to malfunction, with the first being during the sale for the actual Eras Tour itself. AMC is currently promoting exciting additions for your cinematic experience including Eras Tour-themed popcorn buckets for $14.99+tax and drink cups for $11.99+tax. Exclusive cardigans have, unfortunately, still not been announced.

If you are outside of the United States:

On Tuesday 26th September, 2023, tickets for the official Eras tour concert movie were announced in over 100 countries around the world. Taylor Swift made the announcement on Instagram, sharing that the film will be in theaters in those countries from October 13, 2023.

Tickets were available immediately after the Instagram post went live. AMC have struck a deal with sub-distribution partners for more than 7,500 movie theatres in order to show the film in theaters around the world. Across Europe, the concert movie will be playing at Odeon theaters. Odeon also announced a special pricing for the event:

"In a nod to Taylor Swift’s 1989 album and her favourite number, 13, tickets in the UK and Ireland will be priced at £19.89 / €19.89 for adults and £13.13 / €13.13 for children."

Will The Eras Tour be on Netflix?

Despite the concert movie's cinematic release on October 13, there has been no announcement about where to stream Taylor Swift: The Era Tour online. Until further notice, the movie is available exclusively in theaters. However, given the record-breaking demand for tickets, it is very likely fans will be able to watch The Eras Tour on streaming services after its theatrical run ends.

There were also DVD releases of Taylor Swift: Journey to Fearless in 2010 and Speak Now World Tour – Live the following year.

Separately, Fandango reports that Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour broke the ticket seller’s first day sales for 2023 and ranks among their first-day presellers which include Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Spider-Man: No Way Home and others.

“Taylor Swift is giving moviegoing fans and the entire industry the ultimate gift by bringing Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film to the big screen,” said Jerramy Hainline, SVP, Fandango Ticketing. “Not only is Taylor Swift’s concert film the best first-day ticket seller of the year on Fandango, but the concert film is performing like the superhero she is and ranking among the best first-day ticket sellers of all time from franchises like Marvel, Star Wars, DC Comics and more.” 

PREVIOUS EXCLUSIVE, Aug. 31: Since going on sale at 7:15 a.m. CT this morning, ticket presales for AMC’s concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour are well past $10M and counting, we hear from sources. By the end of the day, this presales figure will be tremendously north of what we’re seeing. Swift’s presales here bury the one-weekend-play gross of Trafalgar’s BST: Yet to Come, which did $8M earlier this year.

This enormous presales figure for the pic’s four-weekend play is making distribution executives fall out of their chairs — and reach for their Just calculators. They’re trying to figure out how this concert film distributed to the top three circuits, and possibly more theaters, will do in its opening weekend, off what largely will be a marketing campaign fueled by circuits’ social media, email blasts to loyalty clubs and Swift herself.

What does The Eras Tour even comp to in regards to presales?

“Some Marvel movie,” adds a distribution guru.

They’re right: Days before Eternals opened, presales were at $13M. But The Eras Tour is poised to be crazy higher. Keep in mind that Star Wars: The Force Awakens did $20M on its first day of presales — nine weeks out from its release date back in 2015!

Certainly, AMC doesn’t have the marketing spend of a major studio a la Disney, Sony and Paramount, which opened their respective docu-concert movies to big numbers, i.e. Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert ($31M opening, $65.2M final in 2008), Michael Jackson’s This Is It ($23.2M, $72M in 2009) and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never ($29.5M opening, $73M domestic in 2011).

“They don’t need that,” cried one distribution boss today about the pic’s P&A spend. “All AMC needs is Taylor Swift posting about the movie on social media to her fans.”

AMC said in pre-release that it will limit the showtimes of other Hollywood pics due to the presence of the Swift movie, for which a separate movie ticket sales portal has been created to accommodate huge demand. Also, AMC Stubs members aren’t getting priority treatment when it comes to passes on the film or immediate queue access.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film will not compete with Universal/Blumhouse/Morgan Creek’s The Exorcist: Believer on its opening weekend, that female-skewing horror movie having just moved to October 6 within minutes after Deadline’s story posted. However, Swift will go up against Lionsgate’s Ordinary Angels on October 13, then versus Apple/Paramount’s Killers of the Flower Moon on October 20, and Uni/Blumhouse’s theatrical day-and-date of Five Nights at Freddy’s on October 27. The Eras Tour is really the only wide release during the first weekend of November, with Dune: Part Two now in March 2024 .

AMC, has tapped Variance Films to book the movie, did not return Deadline’s request for comment about Swift presales.

Where to watch Taylor Swift's Eras Tour movie in NYC: locations, tickets and show times

Missed out on all the Taylor Swift's Eras Tour mayhem when it came sweeping into MetLife Stadium  this past May? Never fear: you can experience all of those sparkly costume changes, surprise songs and "Cruel Summer" bridge scream-alongs for yourself when the record-breaking concert tour comes to a movie theater near you.

Yes, on Thursday, August 31, the performer announced the  Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film via an Instagram post. " The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon 😆 Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America! Tickets are on sale now. Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged 🫶 1, 2, 3 LGB!!!! (iykyk)" the singer captioned the post.

Beginning Friday, October 13, the concert movie will be screened at AMC locations throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico with at least four showtimes per day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Here's everything New York-based Swifties need to know. 

Where in NYC is showing Taylor Swift's Eras Tour movie?

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert movie will be playing at all AMC locations across the U.S., so in terms of the New York City area, that means you have 26 locations to choose from, with nine alone in Manhattan, from Kips Bay to Harlem, East Village to Lincoln Square. How much are tickets to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour movie?

All adult tickets to the concert film will be priced at $19.89 —yes, in honor of Swift's fifth studio album, 1989 —plus tax for all showtimes except branded premium large format screens; children's and senior tickets will cost $13.13 without tax. The movie will also screen in IMAX and Dolby Cinema at AMC, as well as in other premium large formats, for the standard up-charge fees. 

Tickets are on sale now at AMCTheatres.com and Fandango.com. And just a head's up, if you're an AMC Stubs A-List member, you won't be able to use your membership to reserve tickets, so plan accordingly!

We're all grinning like devils this morning. Well, if you're a Swiftie, that is.

Taylor Swift , the Grammy-winning pop star who just launched the next leg of her  economy-boosting Eras Tour , announced the tour is coming to theaters in North America on Oct. 13, where fans can watch her upcoming concert film, aptly titled " Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Concert Film ."

"The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon,"  Swift wrote in an Instagram post Thursday morning . "Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America! Tickets are on sale now at amctheatres.com. Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged."

How to get tickets to Taylor Swift Eras Tour concert movie

Prospective ticket buyers can visit  amctheatres.com  for tickets or access the theater's mobile app. As of Thursday morning, the AMC app was experiencing a short wait time as it experienced "high traffic volume" for some users.

The Eras tour began in March in Glendale, Arizona, and Swift has since performed all over the U.S. before heading to Mexico; she will traverse the world, including South America, Japan, Australia, Europe and back again to North America, as the tour continues well into 2024.

Swift will release her latest "Taylor's Version" album Oct. 27, " 1989 (Taylor's Version) ," which she announced at the end of her U.S. tour in Los Angeles Aug. 9.

We couldn't be more ready for it. And by it, we mean all of the above.
