We wish to bring our nanny of 3 years from UAE to Doha when we move there in a few months. Her residency in UAE expires 3 weeks before she would enter Doha with the sponsor’s wife and children (who would enter family visit visa) so not sure of the ETA option for nanny. The sponsor (husband) already has a QID for Doha so could apply from within. How can we bring nanny in direct from Dubai? Really feeling lost. Thank you.

If you are planning to travel in the next 3 months it is a good idea to apply now (especially considering the delay in approvals).

Qatar Tourist Visa is available to nationals of all countries , except GCC citizens, who can avail of visa-free entry to Qatar.

  • The visitor’s passport should be valid for at least three months from the date of entry.
  • If arriving by air, the visitor should have a return ticket .
  • The visitor should have confirmed accommodation . This can be “ Family and Friends Hosting ” or “Other Accommodation” (hotel booking or rented apartment).
  • The visitor should have health insurance (as per MOPH guidelines) if staying for more than 30 days. This need not be purchased during the application stage.

Please note that nationals of more than 90 countries are eligible for visa-free entry to Qatar .

Qatar Tourist Visa costs QAR 100 (USD 27) per visitor. Some nationalities are exempt from this requirement.

The Tourist Visa you receive through the Hayya platform is valid for 30 days from entry date. Many visitors were able to renew it for 30 more days after entering Qatar.

Entry Permits are valid for 90 days from the date of issue so visitors must enter Qatar within those days.

Currently on Business Visa Indian National. Planning to bring wife during vacation with A1 visa. Indians needs either host or hotel accommodation. My doubt is if I booked a hotel through Discover Qatar for 2 days or 1 week and apply for A1 visa, will the visa will be valid for the booking period only or will be as normal like 30 days. ?

Hai I am Qatar with Hayya A1 tourist Visa, While I am trying to extend my visa via Ministry of Interior (MOI) portal it shows error as the “Visa is no possible for Extension. You have reached Maximum on your Stay” even though my visa valid for another 12 more days . Also I have purchased the 30day Insurance in regard of extension

Could you please assist me with these doubts? 1. My wife and baby currently hold valid Hayya A1 visas. Can I apply for a family residency visa for them before or after they arrive here? I have all the required documents ready. The visit visa process is getting delayed, and the MOI service centers are not allowing visit visa applications. 2. What steps do I need to take to change their visas? Do they need to leave the country to change to a family residency visa, or is it possible to do it from here?

Dear Team, Can I apply for A1 tourist visa multiple times by exiting Qatar? Is there a time frame between to issuing the visa? Thank you for your guidance.

Hi, i have extended my mom A1 hayya visa in MOI its shows validity for extra 30days, but I am not able to take any printout of it, how can I confirm it is extended

hayya already sent me invitation letter.also I have proof of address of my family’s stay.so what should I take to airport.print out of email or hotel booking.Do they need same mode of accomadation or any confirmed authorised acvomadation

Hi Alia, You should show the same mode of accommodation that you have been approved for. If you got Hayya approval with hotel accommodation, show the hotel booking details.

I got A1 visa through travel agencies.they shown hotel booking as accomodation and I got visa.but I have plan to stay with family.so I got invitation email through hayya but after getting entry permit.so will it cause any problem

Hi Alia, If you want to change accommodation type after approval, then you have to contact Hayya helpline and the application will be under process again. This means it should be approved again. The easiest way is not to make any change, collect the hotel booking confirmation from the travel agency and enter Qatar. You are free to stay anywhere after entry.

Hi, I am a srilankan. Now I am currently in qatar. My A1 Tourist Visa expire on 6th of march. Can I extend my visa online?

Hi Mohamed, A1 visa extension is not available for some nationalities. So please call 109 or 800 2022 to confirm this before purchasing medical insurance.

Update on Extending Hayya Tourist Visa (A1) in Qatar

Hi DG and all,

I wanted to share some good news regarding extending Hayya Tourist Visas (A1) in Qatar. As of now, it’s possible to extend the visa for an additional 30 days.

My niece’s family, including children, applied for their Hayya Tourist Visa (A1) in December 2023 and received it within a few days. They arrived in Qatar during the second week of February 2024 and recently successfully extended their visas for another 30 days i.e., in Total 60 Days Stay in Qatar.

Please note that attempting to extend your Hayya Tourist Visa (A1) through the Ministry of Interior (MOI) website may result in an error message stating that your insurance is not linked to the visa. In this case, you need to visit the Airport Passports Department in person to complete the extension process. You can find their location by searching “Airport Passports Department” on Google.

I hope this information is helpful!

Hi Mohammed, Thank you very much for sharing this.

Hi tourist A1 visa After 30 day extension we need medical for example my family staying 42 day , need medical

Hi Alpesh, For an A1 tourist visa extension, you only need health insurance. A medical test is only required for a family visit visa extension.

Hi I have applied A1 visa friend visit on 2023 December 25 but still in process I am a srilankan and called and asked but they said still under process that should wait can you please reply me

Hi Riza, Normally it wouldn’t take 2 months. Please double-check if there is any issue with the application, or call the helpline again to confirm.

I plan to bring my wife on an A1 visa on 7th March. However, it has been reported that the A1 visa period ends on February 24. Let me know if you can bring it.

Hi Beldone, Only Hayya With Me (C) category ends on 24 Feb. Other types of Hayya visas will continue. You can apply for A1 visa now.

Hi, My wife visa application is still pending and it has been nearly 4 weeks, I applied on (17 Jan), I leave next week with my wife to Doha, will need the visa to come this week, Im really hoping it does. Do you think it will come this week, are there cases where people recieved them 4 weeks later or a month later. In Sha Allah it comes, I am really hoping so, please advise if you can, called and email the support team over 10 times, they said to wait, are these delays normal?

Hi Shakib, This happens in some rare cases. Most applications are approved in one week.

Hello Doha Guides Team. Good Time. Excuse me, I have a question. My friend has Iranian nationality and resides in Oman Can he apply for a tourist visa (A1) and travel from Iran to Qatar? Or should he apply for a tourist visa (A2) and travel from Oman to Qatar? I got a little confused Thank you for guiding me

Hi Hadi, Both are fine. A2 will be easier to get approval (as GCC Resident).

Thanks for your answer, but one more question: Can my friend travel to Qatar from Iran as a GCC resident?

Hi Hadi, If it is an A2 visa, his airline may not allow travelling from a non-GCC country. In that case, it is better to apply for an A1 visa.

Hi Doha Guides , Is A1 visa is multiple entry to Qatar or not. My mom wants to visit Saudi after and come back to Qatar. So is that possible with the A1 visa.

Please let me know.

Hi Fazav, A1 visa is a single entry. You will need to apply for another visa if you exit the country.

Hi doha guide team, I’m from Pakistan and planning to visit Qatar for 1 month visit visa by A1 visa if I get approved my application do I still need health insurance for 1 month visit visa or no. Please details and help me to guide me how can get approved my visa thanks

Hi Muhammad, If you are staying for 1 month you will need health insurance during travel (not during application).

Hello, Thank you so much for the information, I just wanted to ask 2 questions. 01) What is the last date to enter Qatar under a Tourist A1 visa? 02) If the visitors stay 3 to 5 days, do they need travel insurance?

Thank you 🙂

Hi Muhammadu, (1) The last date to enter will depend on when the visa was issued. The last date will be printed on your visa as validity. (2) As per the Qatar Government Helpline, insurance is only compulsory for those staying above 30 days. It is recommended for all visitor (but not compulsory). However some airlines are asking this even if you visit for short period because this is not clearly written on official websites.

Hi, I want to apply MOPH for my mom for A1hayya visa, I want to extend it to 30 more days as well, totally 60 days. In this case, should I purchase the insurance for 60 days? Please help me on this

Hi Hezia, The standard procedure is that you buy insurance for 30 days and then another insurance for 30 more days during visa renewal. The price is same even if you buy at once or separately.

I am here in Qatar , i have Hayya Portal in my phone can i apply for tourist Visa A1 for my Wife and a baby from my Portal at the same time also is it possible to extend A1 Visa for more 60 Days after arrival time.

Thanks and Kind Regards Bija y Siwa

Hi Bijay, This is a two step process: (Step 1) You should register as a host from your Hayya account (upload Tenancy Contract or National Address Certificate) and add wife and child as guests. (Step 2) Create a new Hayya account for your wife (using another email id) and apply for both visas from that account.

Qatar Visa Information And Travel Requirements For Philippines

Qatar Visa Information And Travel Requirements For Philippines

Qatar, an Arab country located in Western Asia, is becoming an increasingly popular travel destination. With its glittering skyscrapers, intriguing cultural sites, and reputation for luxury, Qatar attracts visitors from all over the world. However, before booking your flight from the Philippines to Qatar, it’s essential to understand the country’s visa and entry requirements.

This guide provides comprehensive information on everything Philippines passport holders need to know about obtaining a Qatar visa and preparing for hassle-free travel to Qatar.

Types of Qatar Visas for Philippines Citizens

Citizens of the Philippines can apply for the following types of Qatar visas:

Tourist Visa – Allows stays in Qatar for up to 30 days. This visa cannot be extended or renewed.

96-hour Transit Visa – For short stopovers in Qatar for up to 4 days when traveling to a third destination.

Work Visa – Various categories are available for employment purposes, including skilled and unskilled work. A local sponsor is required.

Business Visa – For short business trips, meetings, conferences etc. A letter of invitation is required.

Family Visit Visa – For visits to immediate family members living and working in Qatar. Requires sponsor letter.

Student Visa – For studying at an accredited educational institution in Qatar. The school must apply for this.

The type of visa you should apply for depends on the purpose and duration of your planned visit to Qatar. Tourist visas allow only short-term stays for tourism activities.

How to Apply for a Qatar Tourist Visa

Citizens of the Philippines can obtain a Qatar tourist e-visa entirely online without having to visit an embassy or consulate.

Here are step-by-step application instructions:

1. Access the eVisa portal through the Ministry of Interior website and create an account.

2. Select the type of tourist visa based on the duration of your trip. 30 days is the maximum stay allowed.

3. Fill in the online form with your personal details, passport info, and travel plans.

4. Upload supporting documents like passport copies, ID card, return flight booking etc.

5. Make the visa fee payment securely online via credit or debit card.

6. Track your Qatar visa application status online after submission.

7. Once approved, print out the tourist visa to present on arrival in Qatar.

If your application is successful, the eVisa will be displayed as approved immediately. Processing usually takes up to 5 working days. Ensure all information submitted is accurate to avoid delays.

Entry Requirements when Visiting Qatar

In addition to holding a valid Qatar visa, Philippines citizens must also present the following documents upon arrival at Doha International Airport or other ports of entry:

• Passport with 6 months minimum validity and at least 3 blank pages

• Copy of your confirmed hotel reservation in Qatar

• Confirmed return flight ticket booking

• Proof of sufficient funds – at least QR 300 per day

• Health / Medical travel insurance to cover your entire stay in Qatar

• Negative result of a PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before your flight

Qatar requires tourism insurance that includes COVID-19 medical coverage from visitors of most nationalities. Your airline may ask to see this policy when checking in for your flight.

It’s also mandatory to register all foreigners’ details in the Ehteraz health tracking mobile app on arrival. You may need to take another COVID PCR test when landing at a Qatar airport.

Keep your passport and Qatar visa handy when going through immigration procedures and follow instructions from government officials and airport staff.

How Long Can Philippines Citizens Stay in Qatar?

Philippines citizens who enter Qatar on a tourist visa are permitted to remain for up to 30 days only. This is a single-entry visa valid from your date of entry and cannot be renewed or extended once you are in Qatar.

Overstaying beyond your permitted 30 days will lead to fines, blacklisting, detention, and deportation. Exit the country before the visa expiration date stamped in your passport upon arrival.

Those traveling to Qatar for work, business, or family visits can apply for longer term visas permitting stays for several months up to a year. Employment visas allow residence based on your work contract and position.

What Are the Rules and Customs in Qatar for Tourists?

While exploring this fascinating Gulf nation, Philippines visitors must respect the local laws, etiquette, traditions, and Islamic culture to avoid offending Qatari citizens. Key things to keep in mind are:

• Dress modestly in public places – shoulders and knees should be covered

• Displaying affection and intimacy in public is strictly forbidden

• Be respectful when photographing local people and ask permission

• Learn basic Arabic phrases and greetings

• Remove shoes before entering mosques and some museums

• Use your right hand only when eating or accepting gifts

• Avoid public discussions about politics and religion

• Do not consume pork or alcohol products outside of licensed venues

• Never use swear words or make insulting remarks

• Tread carefully when interacting with the opposite gender

Abiding by Qatar’s customs and regulations will allow Philippines tourists to stay safe and avoid misunderstandings. Use common sense and be culturally sensitive.

Exiting Qatar – Airport Tax and Departure Procedures

All visitors must pay a departure tax when leaving Qatar from the airport. This Qatar exit tax is currently QR 100 per person and must be paid in cash only in Qatari Riyals.

Have the exact QR 100 fare ready before proceeding to the immigration counters for your departing flight. Note that not paying or attempting to evade the exit fee constitutes a violation of Qatar’s laws.

At the end of your fabulous Qatar holiday, proceed through these steps to exit smoothly:

• Settle any pending bills at your hotel

• Check out of accommodation and arrange transport to the airport

• Clear immigration procedures and security checks

• Pay QR 100 airport tax at dedicated customs counters

• Request a tax receipt as proof of payment

• Locate your departure gate and enjoy duty-free shopping until boarding

Conclusion – An Incredible Qatar Adventure Awaits

From luxurious hotels to thrilling desert safaris, magnificent museums to world-class shopping malls, Qatar promises an unforgettable Middle Eastern experience for Philippines tourists. Gain hassle-free access by securing the right visa in advance and fulfilling all mandatory entry conditions. Respect local culture and comply with regulations for a smooth Qatar trip.

Filipinos who plan to visit Japan for a short stay must first apply for a tourist visa. The Japanese embassy categorizes these guests based on their purpose of visi t:

  • Foreign residents for tourism (hotel stay)

Moreover, Philippine passport holders have the option to apply for a multiple entry visa. To be eligible, they must have a record of previous visits to Japan and demonstrate their ability to cover travel expenses. Alternatively, if they have visited a G7 country within the past three years, they may also qualify. Spouses or children of individuals meeting these criteria can also apply for a multiple entry visa.

Requirements for Single Entry Visa

How to Get to Japan From Qatar

There are numerous flights available from Qatar to Japan, with a travel time of approximately 10 hours from Doha to Tokyo. Various airlines operate flights on this route, including Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Jetstar Japan, and Saudia Airlines. Ticket prices typically range from $400 to $500.

Popular Destinations in Japan

Based on a popular travel website, Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Osaka are the most sought-after destinations in Japan. If you haven’t finalized your itinerary yet, you can consider these recommendations.

Tokyo, the capital of Japan, offers a blend of ancient and modern attractions. Sensoji Temple, the oldest Buddhist temple in the country, is a must-visit. Follow the incense trails, believed to enhance one’s health. Hamarikyu Gardens showcase the city’s past as Edo, ruled by feudal lords.

To explore Tokyo conveniently, you can choose from tourist buses or opt for the efficient train system.

Fukuoka is another destination known for its ancient temples. Nanzoin Temple houses a magnificent reclining Buddha. Additionally, the city boasts Fukuoka Tower, the tallest tower offering breathtaking views of the sea and mountains from its top.

Remember to check if there are entrance fees and confirm the operating hours for each destination.

Learning About the Japanese Culture

The Philippines and Japan share a common history. Before embarking on your trip to Japan, why not familiarize yourself with the culture to enhance your journey?

Learn some basic Japanese phrases so you can converse with some of the locals. Start by learning “konnichiwa”  (hello), “ano” (excuse me?), and “arigato” (thank you) .

As with most Filipino households, there are some places where you are supposed to remove your shoes before entering. For reference, you should remove your footwear as well if you see that there are shoes left in the entrance. Moreover, if the floor at the entrance is raised, it means that you should also take off your footwear.

It is considered rude to eat or drink while walking in Japan. While there have been leniency in the past years, it is still considered bad manners to do so. What you can do is stay still in one place while you consume your food.

On the other hand, it is perfectly acceptable to slurp your soup or noodles. It is your way of appreciating the wonderful meal that the cook prepared. In addition, you should remember to use your chopsticks properly. You should not stick it in your food when you are not using it nor should you use another chopstick to pass food.

Remember to be respectful at all times. This means being on time, giving up your seat for the elderly, or not skipping lines. As a visitor, you are expected to abide by these.

A Philippine Visa is an endorsement made on a travel document by a consular officer at a Philippine Embassy or Consulate abroad denoting that the visa application has been properly examined and that the bearer is permitted to proceed to the Philippines and request permission from the Philippine Immigration authorities at the ports of entries to enter the country.

The visa thus issued is not a guarantee that the holder will be automatically admitted into the country, because the admission of foreign nationals into the Philippines is a function of the immigration authorities at the port of entry.

Definition of a Foreign Tourist (Temporary Visitor)

A “foreign tourist” is defined as a person without distinction as to race, gender, language or religion, who is proceeding o the Philippines for a legitimate, nonimmigrant purpose such as sightseeing, sports, health, family reasons, training or study (excluding enrollment in schools for the purpose of obtaining a title or degree), religious pilgrimage, business, cultural and scientific purposes.

Standard Procedure/Minimum Requirements for applying a Temporary Visitor’s Visa

Application for a temporary visitor’s visa must be made in person. In the case of a minor under eighteen (18) years of age, the application may be made for him by a person who, in the opinion of the consular officer, is responsible for his/her welfare.
