On the Downtown Denver Food Tour , you’ll taste everything from authentic Neopolitan pizza to Colorado green chili, delicious baked empanadas to Southwestern fusion cuisine. The Cocktail Tasting Tour includes small plates at two stops and features tastings like pulled pork sliders and house-made focaccia. The Denver Wine Walk features paired bites like French onion soup and a flight of locally-made chocolates. The RiNo Arts District Food Tour includes everything from slow fermentation sourdough pizza to Mexican street tacos to mochi donuts.

Our Denver food tours include under one mile of light and leisurely walking.

Snow is common in Denver through the winter, but as all tastings are indoors and walks in between are limited, we bundle up and run our food tours year-round. Tours may be canceled for a major snow storm, in which case all guests will be fully refunded. We recommend that guests dress warmly and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Denver is a great place to visit as a foodie. It’s located 5,280 feet above sea level, giving it the nickname of the ‘Mile High City’, and sits right in the heart of Colorado.

It’s best known for outdoor adventure, just a stone’s throw from the Rocky Mountain National Park and iconic peaks like Mt Evans. But the food and drink scene in Denver has seen something of an explosion in recent years, attracting a different kind of traveler.

There’s the typical western American fare, with beef and game being popular in dishes like bison steak and game meat tartare. The strong Mexican influences can be found in breakfast favorites like the green chili burrito and chilaquiles. And then there’s the unusual oysters… (more on that later)!

Food for Thought delivers food each week to McMeen Elementary students in Denver

Many families who are newcomers to Denver are still struggling to find stability with housing and food. They don't have work permits and that means they aren't earning enough to pay for rent or regular meals. 

Some teachers at  McMeen Elementary School  are seeing students fighting hunger. McMeen has been working to adjust to the large numbers of new students arriving from Venezuela and Colombia.  

Food for Thought is one organization stepping in to help by delivering bags of food every week for students to take home. Those bags contain nonperishables and snacks meant to last. 

Some educators say the food isn't even making it home because the children are devouring the snacks right away or saving it in their desks, to eat later. 

"When kids have food insecurity they tend to hoard that food, because you don't know when you're going get that next meal. And if you're 8 years old, 10 years old and you don't know when you're getting your next meal of course your desk filled with half-eaten goodies for the week is going to look excellent," said Bryn Shouse, a behavior aide at McMeen. 

The Denver Public Schools Foundation has granted more than $276,000 to 25 schools, including McMeen, that have enrolled large numbers of students who are new to this country. DPS has activated its community hubs at schools across the city to help meet the basic needs of these students.
