What Is the Longest Uber Ride Ever Recorded?

MrBeast, a Youtuber known for his over-the-top stunts, holds the record for the longest Uber ride. He recorded the ride for publicity and as an advertising gimmick for his sponsor, Quidd.

The ride went from from North Carolina across the country to Los Angeles, California in an incredible 2,256 mile and 39-hour journey!

The Uber driver, Anthony, asked permission from his wife before accepting the challenge and embarking on the long trip, which would span several days by the time he returned.

Fortunately, Anthony had plenty of experience driving long distances as a commercial truck driver.

MrBeast and Anthony completed the trip, breaking records and making history as riding and driving in the longest trip in an Uber ever.

MrBeast’s cross-country Uber ride cost an impressive $5,500—plus an equally generous tip.

The trip was quite profitable for the driver, even after deducting Uber’s fees, gas, and tolls.

For the passenger, practically speaking, it would be quicker and more cost-effective to fly instead. It would even be faster and cheaper to take a train.

However, the trip was sponsored as an advertising stunt — and based on the publicity the expensive ride received, it was very worthwhile for the sponsor too.

Other Longest Uber Rides

While MrBeast’s ride holds the record, other riders have taken an Uber for some outrageously long trips too.

vector graphic to display the longest uber rides in history

Brent Pfieffer’s 680 miles from Dallas, Texas to Nashville, Tennessee in 2018 may have been the longest Uber ride before MrBeast’s challenge.

Three travelers from Hong Kong, China flew into Texas on a Sunday with the plans to get a connecting flight to Nashville for their business meeting the following day.

Unfortunately, their flight’s departure was delayed, then it was canceled, and, in desperation to make it to the meeting in time, they called an Uber.

Pfeiffer, their driver, drove for 650 miles, over 11 hours, including a few stops.

He estimates that he netted around $800 from the trip and remembers it as a fun trip with lots of conversation and camaraderie despite the passengers missing their suitcases and last-minute improvised plans.

The previous record-holder for longest Uber drive was the 397-mile drive from Williamsburg, VA to Brooklyn, New York in 2016.

The 64-year-old Uber driver Janis Rogers drove a passenger from Williamsburg, VA to the woman’s boyfriend’s home in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York.

Rogers drove the 400 miles straight for a whopping seven hours and forty-two minutes without taking any breaks — and then headed right back for Virginia!

While we don’t know the passenger’s name, the driver remembers her as being a young woman who was waiting in front of a Ben & Jerry’s with her luggage. The woman slept in the back seat for most of the ride.

She asked Rogers how far she could drive and looked grateful when the driver offered to take her all the way to her destination in New York City.

This lengthy journey cost the passenger just $294.09, considerably less than a yellow cab in New York City would have cost.

Rogers didn’t make much profit off of the ride — she figures she netted only about $9 an hour after factoring in gas and tolls — and she didn’t receive a tip either.

Rogers did, however, gain fame, albeit without the fortune, and an awesome story to tell.

Joe Strandell’s 320-mile drive from Santa Barbara, California to Palo Alto, California on September 19, 2014, was another record-breaking ride.

Strandell picked up his passenger, an Indian woman with a suitcase, in front of a hotel.

She has been in Santa Barbara on vacation and needed a ride back to Palo Alto.

Strandell initially didn’t believe that the passenger wanted to take the Uber for the five-hour trip, but he accepted the ride when she offered to call another Uber instead.

Though she slept for almost the entire way, she told him she took an Uber on the trip to Santa Barbara as well!

How much did this surprisingly long Uber trip cost? Strandell was shocked to see that it came to a lucrative $658.

Strandell was thankful for the profitable trip, but it was too much for him to drive back that same day, so he stayed over for the night in an Airbnb.

Before heading home the next day, he took advantage of the unexpected vacation to tour Hearst Castle in the area.

In 2019, South Africa recorded its longest-ever Uber trip from Johannesburg to Durban. The 580km (360 miles) journey took about six hours.

Although they didn’t release the details of the trip, according to Uber’s standard rates in the area, the trip would have cost between R4103 to R9488 ($272 to $630), depending on the type of Uber.

It looks like long-distance Uber rides may not be as rare as we thought.

Frequently Asked Questions

Uber drivers can and do accept long trips. The driver’s Uber app alerts them with the estimated drive time, and the drivers can choose to accept or decline the trip.

If the driver accepts the drive before realizing the time and distance involved, they can cancel it before beginning the drive, and the passenger can call another Uber.

One point to keep in mind is that the Uber app may automatically stop the trip after several hours . If that happens, the passenger can put in a new ride request which the driver can accept and continue on the long journey.

Yes, an Uber driver does not have to accept a long ride if they don’t want to take the job. The drivers know the estimated drive time before they accept the ride request.

If the ride looks too long or inconvenient for them, they don’t have to take it. Hopefully, another driver in the area will accept it.

Uber drivers generally prefer longer trips for better cost-effectiveness, as they reduce time spent traveling to pickups and waiting for passengers.

However, excessively long trips without a return fare can be less preferred due to the time lost returning. Many favor average-length trips, especially if a return passenger is likely.

Although an Uber driver doesn’t have a time limit, the programmed trip does. Uber currently sets a maximum trip of a few hours for each trip.

However, if your trip is longer than that, you can request a new ride, and the driver can accept and continue driving. You may do that several times if the ride is very long.

Uber’s rates take a number of factors into account. They base the price mostly on the distance and on the estimated time it will take.

If your car has traffic on the way and the trip takes longer than expected, you will not be charged more than the original fare. However, if you make additional stops or change the destination, the charge may increase.

Although most people call for an Uber for short drives, you can take one for a long multi-hour journey.

The Uber drivers are not obligated to accept the long trip, but you may luck out with an adventurous-spirited driver like one of the now-famous record-holding long-distant Uber drivers.

If you are considering a long journey with an Uber, factor in the time and cost to determine whether it is worth it.

Driving is not always the most practical and cost-effective way to travel.

But if you do go cross country with an Uber, you may make Uber history and have a record-breaking story to share.

3 thoughts on “The Longest Uber Rides In History [Length, Cost & More]”

I am an Uber driver in Northern California. Back when we had Drivepass and the fare multiplier, I had my multiplier set at 3.5x and got a ping for $720-$820. I clicked accept so fast that I didn’t actually see the destination, but it looked like somewhere in California. I just saw the $ amount and my eyes bugged out so I clicked accept! I called my wife and asked if I could take a long trip. I had already worked doing Instacart and Uber for the day and had worked for 11 hours, it was 6pm. My wife was very skeptical and asked where I would be going and I said, I didn’t know. She said not to go anywhere if it wasn’t worth it. I texted the passenger and asked where the destination was and he said, “Why are you going to cancel because 3 other drivers had already cancelled on him.” Ugh, I still didn’t know the destination, but took a chance and drove to pick him up. Once I slide start ride, it showed the destination as only 3.5 hours away! I was stoked. He slept in the back most the way, but said that he was desperate for a ride because he hadn’t seen his girlfriend in a long while and wanted to be with her for Thanksgiving. Finally, upon arrival, he handed me $180 in cash tip and thanks me profusely for the ride. I swiped end ride and it said, cha-ching, $790 for the ride. The great thing is that since I had bought a 50 ride Drivepass, I didn’t pay a cent to Uber for the ride, keeping the entire $790 + $180 tip = $970 for a 3.5 hour ride. I grabbed some coffee and drove home on cloud nine with maybe one of the most profitable 3.5 hour Uber experience ever. That came out to $277 an hour for the ride!

Considering another 3.5 hours back , so you drive 7 hours which come down to $138 hour, adding told, gas and few other cost you maybe made around $90 hour. Now, you bought a bypass and also considering high tip expectations and would had make not even $40 a hour

Anônimos, you’re doing your math wrong. If you’re averaging 65 mph, 7 hours would be about 455 Miles total. That’s roughly 1.3 to 1.5 tanks of gas, unless it’s a hybrid, in which case it would be less than a tank of gas. His trip was in November 2020 because he mentions that the drive pass and multiplier where both active (giving us the year), and it was around thanksgiving. The average price of gas per gallon in California during that time what’s $3.18, but since he mentioned that he was in Northern california, their prices are a little bit higher, so we’ll say the average was $3.48. The total amount he spend on gas would depend on the gas tank size. Since he was doing uber, we can assume that he would not have something the size of a Ford expedition, because trips would tend to not be profitable in a vehicle that size unless you’re strictly doing Uber XL trips. Either way, we will be generous and say that the size of his gas tank could be up to 30 gallons. If he drives a compact car we’ll say that his gas tank is roughly 11 gallons. So if it’s a gas only vehicle, the amount that he spent on gasoline for all 7 hours would be between roughly 11gal/tank*$3.48/gal*1.3tanks=$49.76 on the low end and 30gal/tank*$3.48/gal*1.5tanks=$156.60 on the high end. But if it’s a hybrid their mileage on an 11 gallon tank could get them more than 600 mi so the cost of fuel expended would be about 75% of full tank or a little over 28 bucks. Basic wear and tear would cost about $100 for every 5,000 miles so the 455 miles is about $9.10 worth. And the only thing he says he got was a coffee, but we’ll say that he got 20 bucks worth of food and drinks on the high end and $2 for a gas station coffee on the low end for this trip. And the drive pass is worth $100 for 50 trips so this one trip would be worth $2 of the cost of the drive pass. So total expenses on this trip is between $41.10 with a compact hybrid and only a cheap coffee and $188.10 with a pretty large SUV with $20 worth of food. So you take the total amount made for the trip which was $970 and subtract the expenses which is between $41.10 and $188.10 and you get $928.90 and $781.90 and you divide those totals by 7 hours and you get $111.70/h and 132.7. Your math has them paying over $100 per hour in expenses, which is ridiculous.

Long-Distance Uber Rides: What Is the Farthest an Uber Can Take You?

Uber is a great way to grab a ride to just about anywhere. Since 2010, the rideshare company has offered an on-demand service that lets users order rides through their smartphones. The brand has become so ingrained in the cultural lexicon that “Uber” is used as a verb, with thousands of riders “Ubering” every night. But is there a distance limit to how far an Uber will take you?

Will Uber do long trips?

Uber logo displayed on a smartphone

According to Uber , there is no distance limit for Uber rides. However, there is a time limit of eight hours on trips. That means if you were driving on a highway with little traffic, you could go about 500 miles within the eight-hour time limit. If you needed to go farther than that, you would have to order a new ride every time you reach the limit.

The cost depends upon the level of car you order. For instance, Uber X, Uber Comfort, and Uber Select cost more but provide more conveniences, such as additional legroom and leather seating. Include the cost of tipping your Uber driver for the extra effort and time they’ve put into the trip, although tipping is never required.

Uber recommends calling your driver ahead to ensure they’re OK with a long-distance trip. The driver has the right to reject the trip and is under no obligation to drive you that far if they don’t want to. If you plan to take a long-distance trip in an Uber, remember it’s up to the driver’s discretion. That’s especially true if the trip crosses state lines because some drivers are unwilling to do that.

 Notable long-distance Uber trips

There have been some notable long-distance Uber trips. CNN reports that in 2017, an Uber driver picked up a rider at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, expecting a typical trip to the suburb of Buffalo Grove. It turned out the passenger wanted to go to Buffalo, New York, a 500-mile, eight-hour drive. That’s because the rider was NFL player Shareece Wright of the Buffalo Bills on his way to offseason practice.

The ride wound up costing him $632.08, and he added a $300 tip to driver Hadi Abdollahian. The bonus got even better for Abdollahian because when the NFL reimbursed Wright for the trip, he also gave that $932 to the driver.

Another notable long-distance Uber trip involved a popular YouTuber, MrBeast. In 2017, he took a cross-country Uber ride from North Carolina to California. At 2,256 miles, the journey is the longest Uber ride on record. However, you can’t Uber across the country in one trip anymore because of the eight-hour limit.

Long-distance alternatives

Uber isn’t the only rideshare option for long-distance travelers. Besides considering the company’s main competitor, Lyft, you can also check out some smaller ridesharing apps. If you’re in California, try Curb , which plans to expand into 45 U.S. cities. There’s also Via, which loads several passengers headed to the same destination in one vehicle.

If you prefer to drive yourself but don’t own a car, check out a car-sharing service. Zipcar includes insurance and lets members take out vehicles by the day or hour. There is no distance limit, but if you travel farther than 180 miles in a day, Zipcar charges extra. There’s also Getaround , which connects cars with ride-seekers and allows drivers to share their cars and earn money. This service lets you go 200 miles before tacking on a surcharge.

world's longest uber trip

Uber driver Janis Rogers picked up a fare in Virginia and drove her nearly eight hours and 400 miles to Brooklyn, in what is believed to be the longest Uber ride on record.

Then the 64-year-old turned right around and drove back to her home in Newport News, Va.

Even more impressive, she did it all without stopping to use the restroom!

“I was wide awake and kept on going. I don’t have a problem with going for a long time,” she laughed.

The fare was a young woman outside a Ben & Jerry’s in Williamsburg, Va., who said she needed to get to Bedford-Stuyvesant to see her boyfriend. It was June 9 at 11:51 a.m.

The bill for the grueling 397-mile, 7-hour-42-minute jaunt: $294.09.

world's longest uber trip

A New York City yellow cab making the same trip in reverse would cost $1,182.

But the rider wasn’t exactly pinching pennies. If she had been, she could have taken a plane for $188, a train for $95, and a bus for only $45.

Rogers, a friendly Southerner, said she was happy for the long-distance haul, a departure from the average Uber ride of 5.4 miles.

Rogers said her passenger looked “about 19 or 20” with “long brown hair.”

“She was pretty. She was sitting outside with a suitcase and a bag,” Rogers drawled. “I did not get her name. I think she had been Ubering up the coast.”

Rogers said that when the stranger got in the car, she asked, “How far north can you take me?”

“I said, ‘Well, I’m not doing too much today, so I’ll take you all the way.’

“She said, ‘Really? That would be great.’”

The woman then curled up in a blanket Rogers keeps in the back seat of her 2005 Prius and “slept the entire way.”

“She didn’t seem excited to see her boyfriend,” Rogers recalled. “She was kind of blasé. She looked tired.”

Rogers reached her Putnam Avenue destination by nightfall. The two said goodbye — no tip was offered — and Rogers turned right around and drove back to Virginia, arriving home at about 3:45 a.m.

‘This was not lucrative. I did it because it was an adventure.’

Rogers, who didn’t even own a cellphone before joining Uber in May, didn’t make much money on the longest ride.

After driving 15½ hours round-trip and spending $32 for gas and tolls (she didn’t spend a dime on food or drinks), the trip earned her about $9 per hour, she calculated.

“This was not lucrative,” she said. “I did it because it was an adventure.”

The trip was “a little bit scary for me,” she said. “I had never been anywhere downtown in New York. I’ve driven through New York to visit my sister in Maine. But never downtown.”

Rogers said she first realized she may have made Uber history when one of her riders Googled “longest Uber ride” and up popped a story on Joe Strandell, who drove a woman 320 miles from Santa Barbara to Palo Alto in California in 2014. Strandell shared his story with Harry Campbell, an Uber driver who blogs about the ride-sharing industry .

Campbell told The Post that Rogers is the new record-holder. Uber itself did not return messages seeking comment.

Rogers likens Uber driving to fishing.

“It’s like I throw my line in the water when I turn my app on — and I wait for the hit. And when I tap my screen, it’s like setting the hook. And then … and when I pick them up, it’s like reeling them in.”

And sometimes she catches a big Brooklyn fish.

Dedicated Woman Takes Longest Uber Ride in History to Visit Boyfriend

In the longest Uber ride ever, a woman in Virginia took a 400-mile Uber ride that lasted almost eight hours to visit her boyfriend in Brooklyn . You might guess that taking a trip that long means the woman was pretty sprung , but the driver says otherwise. "She didn't seem excited to see her boyfriend," the driver told the New York Post . "She was kind of blasé. She looked tired."

Janis Rogers, a 64-year-old Uber driver from Newport News, Virginia, picked up a woman outside of a Ben & Jerry's in Williamsburg, Virginia shortly before noon on June 9, according to the New York Post . Rogers didn't get her passenger's name, but said the woman, who had a bag and suitcase, was "pretty," had "long brown hair," and looked "about 19 or 20" years old.

When the woman got in the car, she asked Rogers, "How far north can you take me?" Rogers replied, "Well, I'm not doing too much today, so I'll take you all the way."

While Rogers drove her 2005 Prius north, the passenger simply "slept the entire way."

For some context here, the average Uber ride is 5.4 miles. The distance between Williamsburg, Virginia and Bedford-Stuyvesant? 397 miles. That's a long way—the longest Uber ride ever, actually.

Rogers then turned around and headed back home, where she finally arrived around 3:45 a.m.

Perhaps surprisingly, the ride only cost $294.09. For comparison, a New York City yellow cab would cost nearly $1,200 for a similar trip; a plane ride could've cost $188; $95 for a train; and just $45 for a bus.

For Rogers, though, the trip "was an adventure," she told the New York Post . The 64-year-old had never been in downtown New York, and, before she joined Uber in May, she had never even owned a cell phone.

Nonetheless, the "adventure" was "not lucrative" for Rogers. During the trip, she spent $32 on gas and tolls. She reportedly didn't buy any food or drinks, and didn't take a single bathroom break during the trip either. With the $32 cost, Rogers says she made $9 an hour during her 15 and a half hour round-trip.

It's unclear what happened with the couple after Rogers dropped off the woman. But if love can't survive after somebody drops almost $300 for the longest Uber ride ever, maybe true love doesn't exist after all.

An Uber driver has recorded what is thought to be the longest journey in the service's seven-year history by taking a young woman just under 400 miles to see her boyfriend.

Janis Rogers, 64, picked up the woman in Virginia and drove non-stop for nearly eight hours to drop her off in Brooklyn - before turning straight back around and driving home again.

The 397-mile trip was considerably longer than the average American Uber ride of 5.4 miles, and cost $294.09, the New York Post reported . The Post said the woman could have flown to New York for less.

Ms Rogers, who did not even own a mobile phone before becoming an Uber driver in May, said: "She was pretty. She was sitting outside with a suitcase and a bag. I did not get her name. I think she had been Ubering up the coast."

The woman, aged about 20, asked how far Ms Rogers could take her and received the reply: "I’m not doing too much today, so I’ll take you all the way."

Ms Rogers, from Newport News city in Virginia, said that while the woman slept the whole way to New York, she herself did not arrive back home until 3.45am. But she added: "I did it because it was an adventure."

Making the trip by plane would have cost $188, by train $95, and by bus a mere $45, the Post said.

Longest Uber drive ever takes fare from Virginia to Brooklyn

The driver only ended up averaging about $9 per hour for the trip, though.

world's longest uber trip

I've always joked with Uber drivers about taking insanely long trips, but one driver actually did it, hauling a fare some 400-ish miles from Virginia to New York City.

Janis Rogers took a rider from a Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop in Williamsburg to an apartment in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood in Brooklyn, the New York Post reports . It's believed that the 397-mile trip, which took nearly 8 hours to complete, was the longest Uber ride in the company's short history.

The 64-year-old driver picked up a fare who wanted to travel to her boyfriend's apartment up the East Coast. That woman ended up paying $294 for the trip, which the Post says is about one-fourth the cost of a regular New York City cab. Rogers made the trip up to Brooklyn and promptly drove home.

"[The trip] was not lucrative," Rogers told the Post. "I did it because it was an adventure." After spending nearly 16 hours behind the wheel and an additional $32 on gas and tolls, Rogers cleared approximately $9 per hour.

Prior to this trip, it's believed that the longest Uber ride went to Joe Strandell, who ferried a woman 320 miles from Santa Barbara to Palo Alto in California in 2014. Rogers' trip to Brooklyn is now the record holder, according to the ride-sharing blog The Rideshare Guy . I hope she brought some snacks.

This May Have Been the Longest Uber Ride of All Time

From Popular Mechanics

Most people take an Uber to cross their neighborhood, or maybe their city. And then there are the brave, free-spending few who ask the ride-sharing service to carry them across states.

A few days ago, the New York Post published the tale of Janis Rogers. This 64-year-old Uber driver picked up a rider in Williamsburg, VA, who wanted to go to her boyfriend's place in the Brooklyn, NY neighborhood of Bed-Stuy. That's a trip of nearly 400 miles and eight hours that amounted to a fare of $294.

The Post said Rogers' misadventure "is believed to be the longest Uber ride on record." But after the paper proclaimed this, other Uber drivers began to come forward with tales of even longer impromptu road trips. That's according to The Outline, which today described a new contender for the throne.

According to that post , the title truly belongs to Uber driver Kevin Jones of Omaha, NE. Jones told Outline that in October, a woman had him drive 550 miles from Omaha to Denver, a trip that took less than seven and a half hours (you can drive fast across Nebraska) but tallied a fare of $877, including nearly $300 of extra cost because of surge pricing.

Until Uber itself releases official data about the longest trips, we may never know for certain who's the winner; maybe there's a Colorado-to-California trip out there that could top Jones's. We may also never know just what these customers were thinking. In both of these cases they could have made the trip by plane, train, or bus for much less money.

Driver completes Uber's longest ever journey, travelling 397 miles

world's longest uber trip

Uber driver Janis Rogers has completed what is believed to be the company’s longest ever drive using the ride-hailing service.

She picked up her customer from a Ben & Jerry’s outlet in Williamsburg, Virginia, and travelled all the way to Brooklyn in the state of New York.

Speaking to the New York Post, Rogers seemed to suggest the epic ride-hailing trip was quite spontaneous. Her customer asked: “How far north can you take me?”

“I said, ‘Well, I’m not doing too much today, so I’ll take you all the way.’

“She said, ‘Really? That would be great.’”

The Uber user, who Janis describes a young woman aged around 19-20, then slept under a blanket on the back seats for most of the journey. The reason for this record-breaking trip? She wanted to get to Brooklyn to see her boyfriend.

After factoring in the cost of petrol, the trip earnt Janis just $8 an hour, but she told the Post that she did it “for the adventure”, rather than the money.

It cost the Uber client $294.09, or around £233, more than a plane ticket, and considerably more than the equivalent train or bus fares.

30 places to visit before you turn 30

world's longest uber trip

Although the Uber trip itself was just under eight hours long and ended at 3.45am, 64-year-old Janis then returned to Newport News in Virginia, straight after collecting her fare, and completed the whole trip without a single visit to the bathroom.

Prior to Janis’ record-breaking journey, the longest Uber trip was thought to have been a 320 mile drive from Santa Barbara to Palo Alto in California.

what’s up guys i’m going to be

attempting to set the world record for

the longest uber ride ever

i’m currently here in north carolina as

you can tell from my professionally

and i’m going to take an uber from north

carolina all the way to california

in one trip and we’re going to set the

world record

lydia so as you can see we are currently

in north carolina i’m not lying

this is google maps and we’re gonna go

all the way to california

okay so i forgot to hit record but as

you can see i called in uber and as you

our current trip is to los angeles we’re

going to do this in one ride or at least

we’re going to try to and set a world

it’s going to take us from north

carolina to california before i do that

i just want to mention this entire video

is paid for by quid quit is an app i’m

going to play an ad for them real quick

and they are the ones that are paying

for this trip hey past me i’m actually

at the hotel i just got finished with

this uber ride and

you won’t believe how much it ended up

costing but this is an app where you

basically can open up packs of stickers

from your favorite shows and believe it

or not i actually have my own packs so

you should download quit it’s linked at

the top of description

go open up some mr beast packs and see

what mr b stickers you can collect

and the fun part about the app is you

actually can spam your friends with your

favorite stickers and cards from the

is the sandwich good you’re taking

forever okay i mean

to be frank i’m we’re looking to go to

california do you have that kind of time

or do i need those things

yeah i’m not joking but we can put in

shorter stops to lead up but that’s our

end goal we’re looking for someone to

take us to california

all right so we just got up with the

first uber as you can see

he’s uh right there he’s calling his

wife to see if she’ll let him do it all

right guys so he just agreed to do it

this is going to be the man taking us

from north carolina to california

thank you you’re going to give me a

viral video thank you let’s do it

i need the money you know

yeah so salamis hoover is paying me that

i’m fine

if not hey guys so it’s currently 7 30

thursday night so far not much has

happened it’s only really been an hour

you know we still got a long ways to go

so we were just talking and actually

tell what you do for a living yeah i’m a

truck driver

yeah so he actually drives trucks so

it’s kind of ironic that uh

we matched up with this guy he actually

has experience driving for a really long

you plan on taking us all the way to

california right uh yes

yeah he’s a little camera shy we’ll work

as you can see we’re about to cross the

four hour mark davis

what do you think so far gonna be a long

ride yeah dude it’s only been four hours

jeez how about you you still hanging in

there oh yeah

are you good you all right you want to

get us there alive oh come on

guys on the way so we got philip number

one how are you doing so far

doing pretty good yeah feeling good

right as you can see

we just crossed the 10 hour mark we’ve

literally been going for about 10 hours

so far which is just kind of funny like

you’ve literally just been driving

complete strangers for the last 10 hours

like what do you do

yes that is true let’s train the

strangers with

an objective all right so we’re at the

second gas stop as you can see

we’re filling up we’re uh we’re getting

us some gas

right now this is our second time

filling up we’re about 10 hours into our

like 45 hour

ride and you know we’re all pretty tired

but we’re gonna make this happen

we are going to set a world record i got

a call man if i come in

i’m gonna have a bike situation

i’m laying down in the back of the van

just taking a nap

i’m tired as [ __ ] and uh yeah there

probably won’t be much footage from this

look open as you guys can see arkansas

is just fields upon fields upon fields

there’s

literally nothing here but just a ton of

fields all right guys so we’re in

arkansas i think it’s phillip number

three we’re here at a crackle barrel

we’re gonna go inside and just eat some

food and kill some time while he catches

up on sleep because it’s been like

13 hours or something crazy like that so

yeah yeah we

were there for quite a while yeah yes

he got like a good two and a half hour

to happen hopefully he doesn’t fall

asleep at the wheel now and we should be

good yeah oklahoma now

all we did in high school was play this

game called balloon tower defense like

literally every class we played it and

i just just like back in high school i’d

kick his butt

one literature class where literally the

entire class the entire year all we did

was play this game

almost at the halfway mark um all right

you you regretting this what are your

thoughts oh yes

i believe the current world record for

the longest uber ride

is a ride from dallas to nashville which

was actually 11 and a half

hours 6 500 miles uh i’ve done a lot of

research and from what i see

this is the longest ride i can find

quick update that is oklahoma city over

those uh giant buildings all right so

this is a rough you know this is an

outside view of the mansion i’ll give

you a look inside the house got a nice

torch here give me some light close the

door at night and i’m ready to go

so apparently we’re in texas we didn’t

actually see a sign for it so

uh i guess somehow we missed that you’ve

been driving now for

almost literally an entire day straight

what are you thinking how’s it going

it’s going wonderful

is it like um is this easier than you

thought it would be a harder

uh no it’s pretty much not what i

oh yeah cool tell the viewers something

yes he is awesome he’s the beast and his

they’re not even spinning maybe i’m for

trump make him work hey davis who just

i’ll let him win that time yeah uh-huh

we’re about to be below

1000 miles left on our trip which is a

huge milestone

we started off with 3 000 so uh we’ve

done about two-thirds of it so far

new mexico boys we took an exit to get

some gas and

this is what we were confronted with

we’re just the middle of a desert

yeah that’s number four so that was just

our fourth time filling up we got some

food we you know used the bathroom and

we’ve got another like 14 hours left in

the drive so

um you ready to grind it up oh yes all

he’s been killing it i don’t i don’t

know how he has it

we called him on uber like his wife had

cooked up food and he had

to eat him yeah he had eaten dinner he

was in work clothes

and we were just like hey can you drive

us to california i’ll pay you a lot of

money and he’s like

he called his wife and talked to his

wife for like literally two hours

i was just like all right come on mr

beast didn’t know that was actual us

so yeah i actually didn’t know new

mexico was a state i thought

they were playing a prank on me but we

have just under 10 hours left it’s

looking like the entire trip will be

around 37 hours so

it’s this hasn’t been too bad i mean

what do you guys think

awesome it’s been amazing guys we just

arrived at the gas station

um he’s filling up

we’re gonna get some gas and this is my

boat we’re now in arizona

this is our last state until california

um yeah i’m

ready to be done all right we’re filling

i think this was like was this like our

sixth time fill it up

yeah so it literally only took us six

times to get from coast to coast which

isn’t that bad all right guys so i’m a

terrible blogger

uh i always forget to record things but

actually we just pulled into the hotel

here in california so what that actually

you just drove us all the way from north

to california in 40 hours yes

of the world was was it hard what do you

well it was

uh a lot of it was it was tedious

do you think the ride home will suck i

will need to take

a lot of rest probably about another 40

oh yes jesse wake up we’re here

hey how much did it cost jimmy oh yeah

that’s a good one i actually almost

forgot to bring that up

so the ride from north carolina to

uh with him for 40 hours it was 40 hours

it was about 5 500 dollars that’s what

only 5 500 yeah i know actually we kind

of we thought it would be like ten

thousand dollars somehow

somehow we got away with only paying you

i’m kidding i’m kidding man uh we gave

him a big tip he already saw it all so

he got a victim that already had the

reaction and stuff but

yes you don’t like plates it’s about

five and a half grand to go

from coast to coast um that’s probably

valuable information

and that may be the longest uber trip

is it yeah that’s definitely from what

i’ve seen i’ve done a lot of researching

like 10 minutes on google uh the longest

trip before this was like 13 hours and

we just did

it was about 39 to be exact from north

carolina to california

yeah we made sure it was worth as well

don’t worry guys uh anything you want to

well uh whenever you guys want to do

please let you know let me know if

anyone else wants a cross-country trip

just hit him up

thank you oh this has been drawn out

we’re gonna go to sleep

yeah it it it was a pleasure

tell them to subscribe yeah and uh

everybody subscribe these guys are

awesome that’s right

that’s right all right we’re done

Uber also noted that it has completed over 2,300 trips to the moon and back, equating to roughly 1.77 billion kilometres driven on South Africa’s roads; and during this time, it has moved as many people as it takes to fill up Soccer City stadium over 78 times  (7.39 million people).

“Uber now serves more than 80% of the urban population in close to 30 cities across the country and has enabled more than 1 million economic opportunities in South Africa through its commitment to affordable, accessible, safe, and sustainable transportation,” said Kagiso Khaole, general manager of Uber Sub-Saharan Africa.

Uber Electric Delivery Scooter battery-swapping demonstration

Expanding in South Africa

Uber plans to grow its South African footprint in 2024 with a new electric-vehicle-only service known as Uber Connect, as well as the expansion of several existing ride options to new geographical areas in which they were previously unavailable.

Available in Cape Town from December, Uber Connect will make use of battery-powered delivery scooters that will perform same-day pickup and deliveries within a single region. The rollout will expand to Johannesburg in February 2024.

To eliminate the need for lengthy charging cycles, the two-wheelers will have hot-swappable battery packs that will allow a rider to stop at a battery locker and swap out their depleted power unit for a fully-charged one in under a minute.

Additionally, come 2024, Uber said it will launch Uber Store Pick-Ups, which enables users to book a delivery person to collect any prepaid items from any store.

The company also revealed that it is expanding Uber Van to Cape Town, its luxury rideshare offering Uber Black to Durban, and the addition of Reserve Airport Pickup for its UberX, Uber Comfort, and Uber XL rides across all regions.

Ohio man, 81, fatally shoots Uber driver, 61, after scammers target both of them, officials say

An 81-year-old Ohio man has been charged in the fatal shooting of an Uber driver he believed was working with a scammer, according to officials who said the victim was sent to the home by the same scammer.

William Brock told investigators he shot Loletha Hall, 61, outside his home March 25 because he thought she was working with a man who called him pretending to be an officer at the local court, Lt. Kristopher Shultz of the Clark County Sheriff's Office said.

"Mr. Brock received some scam call by a person purporting to be someone from our courts who informed him a family member was incarcerated and that he had a bond of a significant amount of money," Shultz said. "The calls turned from 'I'm an officer in the court' to 'We have this subject hostage, this is a ransom demand.'"

The person who called Brock, or an accomplice, requested an Uber ride to his South Charleston home to pick up the money, Shultz said.

"Ms. Hall did not have any idea," he added.

William Brock told investigators he shot Loletha Hall, 61, outside his home March 25 because he thought she was working with a man who called him pretending to be an officer at the local court, according to the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

When Hall arrived at the home and approached the front door, Brock confronted her with a gun and asked her who she was working for, Shultz said. He took her cellphone and prevented her from getting in her vehicle and driving away.

“When she tried to get away, he shot her once, then there was more exchange between them," Shultz said. "Mr. Brock was at some point injured to his head, and he shot Ms. Hall a second time. There was more conversation, and then he shot her a third time. Only after he shot her a third time did he then make contact with authorities to report the incident."

Hall did not threaten Brock, have a weapon or assault him, according to the sheriff's office and a complaint filed in Clark County Municipal Court. She was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries, according to the complaint.

In a statement, Uber said the company had spoken with Hall's family.

"This is a horrific tragedy and our hearts continue to be with Loletha’s loved ones as they grieve," an Uber spokesperson said. "We have been in contact with law enforcement and remain committed to supporting their investigation."

William Brock told investigators he shot Loletha Hall, 61, outside his home March 25 because he thought she was working with a man who called him pretending to be an officer at the local court, according to the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

The Uber spokesperson said the account of the person who ordered a car to Brock's house has been banned. Officials have not identified the person who requested the Uber and have not said whether they have made any additional arrests in connection with the case.

In a grand jury presentation Monday, Brock was indicted on three counts of murder, one count of felonious assault and one count of kidnapping, Shultz said. He will be arraigned on those charges later this week.

It was not immediately clear whether he has an attorney.

Brock was originally arraigned on a murder charge in the Municipal Court of Clark County on Wednesday and posted a $200,000 bond. If convicted of that charge, he could be sentenced to 15 years to life in prison or a $15,000 fine.

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Francis will visit Indonesia, East Timor, Papua New Guinea and Singapore in September, the Vatican announced Friday, confirming the longest trip of Francis’ papacy that is sure to test his health, stamina and mobility.

The Vatican confirmed the Sept. 2-13 visit, saying the 87-year-old pope would visit Jakarta, Indonesia; Port Moresby and Vanimo, Papua New Guinea; Dili, East Timor; and Singapore. Further details will be announced later.

Francis’ health has become a source of increasing concern and speculation, even though the pontiff is able to carry on with a rigorous schedule of meetings at the Vatican and even excursions to local parishes.

Francis, who had part of one lung removed as a young man, had to cancel a planned visit to Dubai late last year after he came down with a bad case of bronchitis. He suffered from respiratory problems all winter and had to curtail his participation in Holy Week events to save his energy for Easter.

Francis has also been using a wheelchair for nearly two years because of bad knee ligaments, and has said that traveling has become increasingly more difficult.

And yet at 11 days, the trip would be the longest of Francis’ papacy, outpacing by a few days some of his long trips to the Americas early on in his 11-year papacy. It will bring the Argentine Jesuit to the world’s most populous Muslim nation, Indonesia, as well as the former Portuguese colony of East Timor, where the Catholic Church wields enormous influence.

There is also a chance of another leg to the trip being added later: This week, the Vatican foreign minister, Archbishop Paul Gallagher, was in Vietnam and discussed a papal visit, Vatican News reported, without providing details.

In a statement announcing the visit, the Indonesian foreign ministry welcomed the visit and recalled that it had originally been scheduled for 2020 but was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The visit of Pope Francis to Indonesia holds significant importance to the Indonesian people, not only for Catholics but also for all religious communities. The visit is also expected to strengthen the message of tolerance, unity and world peace,” the statement said.

Indonesia is home to roughly 242 million Muslims and 29 million Christians — 8.5 million of whom are Catholics — according to a 2022 report by the Religious Affairs Ministry.

East Timor, which today has a population of about 1.2 million people, is Southeast Asia’s only predominantly Christian nation with the exception of the Philippines. According to the 2015 census, 97.6% of East Timor’s population is Catholic.

The visit to East Timor will likely reignite attention over a clergy sex abuse scandal involving its revered independence hero and Nobel Peace Prize winner. The Vatican confirmed in 2022 that it had sanctioned Bishop Carlos Ximenes Belo following allegations that he sexually abused boys there during the 1990s. Belo is believed to now be living in Portugal.

Francis will be the first pope to visit Papua New Guinea since St. John Paul II went there in 1984. The country, in a strategically important part of the South Pacific, has struggled with tribal violence and civil unrest.

John Paul also visited Singapore, in 1986. The country today is home to 395,000 Catholics and Francis in 2022 made its archbishop Singapore’s first cardinal.

In a statement welcoming the visit, Cardinal William Goh, said it “will bring renewed fervor to all Catholics in Singapore, uniting them in faith and mission, especially in these most challenging of times.”

The Vatican has planned only one other papal trip this year — to Belgium to celebrate the anniversary of the country’s Catholic university. Francis has also said he wants to return to his native Argentina , but no plans or dates have been announced.
