Ngulia Safari Lodge: The 9 things you didn’t know

Ngulia Safari Lodge had been on my bucket list for a long time. At last, the chance presented itself.

I vividly remember as I was on my way to, I could pinch myself to the reality that I was ticking off Ngulia Safari Lodge on my bucket list.

The place is incredibly evoking with highlighting Leopards that will visit you every 7:00 – 8:00 PM. It is such a fascinating and unparalleled experience.

Leopards are rare to spot, but in Ngulia Safari Lodge, you`re almost guaranteed this idiosyncratic phenomenal experience.

I have always wanted to do this and I couldn’t wait to visit this enchanting, rustic gem in Tsavo National Park.

On our way to the lodge, I spotted 5 different leopards camouflaging on the Baobab trees as we made the grand entrance to this illustrious and eminent lodge.

Without much ado, let’s delve in and see what Ngulia Safari Lodge has to offer.

1.) Ngulia Safari Lodge Location.

Water hole at Ngulia Safari Lodge

This rustic and alluring lodge is located some 289 km from Nairobi. It is in Makueni County.

A drive to the lodge from Nairobi can take up to 6 hours depending on the driver and type of vehicle.

It is almost in the middle of Mombasa and Nairobi but coming from the coastal side is nearer by 32 km.

The Lodge is in Tsavo West National Park, one of the most underrated parks in Kenya with a wealthy class of wildlife.

2.) How to get to Ngulia Safari Lodge.

To get to the Lodge is either by the following modes of transport-:

Road: As we have seen above, you will take up to 6 hours drive from Nairobi and 5 hours’ drive from Mombasa. It could be less though.

Air: The Lodge is accessible from Nairobi`s Wilson Airport which is a 1-hour flight. You will land at the nearest Airstrip Kilanguni which is about 25 Kms or the Finch Hatton Airstrip, though a bit distant at 55 Kms from the Lodge.

Madaraka Express: This is the SGR it takes 2hours and 43 Minutes from Nairobi to Mtito Andei station where you should alight and get a transfer en route to a game drive to the lodge.

This is the common mode of transport and it is actually what we used to access the lodge. It is swift at the same time quite affordable to everyone.

See how to book or Cancel your SGR tickets and get a Refund .

3.) Accommodation at Ngulia Safari Lodge.

Beautiful View of the water Hole from the comfort of your room

Almost all rooms have scenic verdant planetary and appallingly Savannah views. You would want to stay in that verandah all day without moving an inch.

As if that is not enough the lodge has a water hole whereby especially the Elephants and Buffalos come to quench their thirst.

So, you will have surprise visits by the Jumbos as they make their way to the water hole.

All rooms are well designed but if possible, book the upper rooms for a more fascinating view!

If all the rooms are full of which most of the time they are, a ground floor will work just fine.

Personally, I was on the ground floor and had as many surreal views from the comfort of my bed.

Ngulia Safari Lodge has remarkable 52 rooms and ready to host you for an unparalleled, exhilarating experience.

4.) What is unique about Ngulia Safari Lodge?

The Leopard Appearance at Ngulia Safari Lodge. Image Edwin Joe

So, why should you book Ngulia Safari Lodge? What is so quirky about it? There is no other lodge you are almost guaranteed of spotting the introverted, Elusive and secretive cat you will ever come across- the leopard.

You will rarely spot leopards and if you do, then count yourself lucky! Now at Ngulia, they have a leopard that visits the Lodge between 7 – 8 Pm or so.

It is not 100% guarantee but it rarely never misses to show up and this is where you get your Cameras ready for a spectacular experience.

This spectacle makes Ngulia Stand out from the rest. As if that is not enough, the water hole near their restaurant is another catch!

Jumbos (Elephants) come to quench their thirst and you will get close and personal with the Zebras, waterbucks, buffalos, giraffes and other animals within the park.

5.) The swimming Pool at Ngulia Safari Lodge.

The Enchanting Pool.

I liked their Swimming pool as it overlooks the Rhino Sanctuary, from the pool you have incredible views of the Rhinos if you have an eagle eye.

You can use nearby stationed binoculars to zoom in on those majestical rhinoceros. From the pool, you will be able to see the Ngulia Hills which is spectacular and coins the name of the lodge.

6.) Rhino Sanctuary.

This is a 90 Kms squared sanctuary whereby you will find the rhinos. They are about 80 Black rhinos but 15 of them have been released to Tsavo west National Park.

The sanctuary is an incredible place to do your game drive but these archaic creatures are not guaranteed to spot them.

Just like leopards, they are elusive and nocturnal. So, when you go for the game drive in the sanctuary don’t put your expectations so high.

7.) The perfect Itinerary to Ngulia Safari Lodge.

What is the ideal number of days to visit Ngulia Safari Lodge? 3 days 2nights will be perfect because of the distance.

Morning Train Depart Nairobi, for Tsavo west National Park (Ngulia Safari Lodge). Depending on which mode of transport you choose.

In our case, we had the Madaraka Express Option (SGR).

We departed Nairobi at 8:00 AM and proceeded to Mtito Andei arriving at 10:50 AM. The lodge safari vehicle was waiting for us upon arrival.

Since we had all the time, we did not proceed directly to the Lodge but headed to Mzima Springs via the Shetani Lava Flow and the 5 sisters hills all in Tsavo West National Park.

We had a hike at Cheimu Hills also known as Chaimu Hills, basically, a 20 to 30 minutes walk along with a steep loose soil which makes it almost hard for anyone to walk leave alone hike but we strived on and managed to conquer the odds.

Time was not on our side and we drove to the lodge for lunch, thanks to our able guide, Mr Mbulu, such an articulate and knowledgeable guide with over 30 years of experience.

Lunch and Dinner at Ngulia Safari Lodge.

We were to visit the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, but we did not manage since we were heading to Voi Safari Lodge for another phenomenal experience.

This day we had the lodge for ourselves and enjoyed the hotel facility, as well as the Jumbos, who kept visiting us.

They came in Interval and at no given time the water hole was without beautiful views of the wildlife. Staying in the lodge was actually more appealing than doing the game drives.

After our delectable lunch we checked out at around 3:30 PM and that was the end of our incredible Safari at Ngulia Safari Lodge.

Please Note: The perfect period of stay is 3 Days so that you will be able to maximize and visit all these scenic places .

8.) Visually Impaired masseuse.

The Masseuse doing what she does best. Image Chris & Cate Events

The lodge has a professional Masseuse who knows her work well and even though visually Impaired. She goes against the odds to perform an excellent job.

The differently enabled community is well represented in Ngulia Safari Lodge and this made me like the lodge even more for such a noble consideration.

9.) Ngulia Safari Lodge Offer!

The Lodge is ready to host you and currently, they have a local affordable offer of Kes17,000 Per Person for 3 Days 2nights. Book the package here .

The offer Includes.

  • Full board accommodation
  • Return Transport (SGR).
  • Transfers from Mtito Andei to and from the Lodge.

  • All entry park fees.

NB// Package is only applicable to a minimum of 6pax. Travel Date Every 4th weekend of every month.

Conclusion.

From the management to the subordinate everyone is welcoming and warm. You rightly feel at home effortlessly.

Their delectable cuisine both local and international is simply amazing.

Ngulia Safari Lodge is worth your time and every dime you spend. This is a genuine review of the lodge.

At no given time will I ever mislead my readers, so take it from me the place is magical and the experience you will get out of this lodge is unrivalled.

Ngulia Safari Lodge, Tsavo West National Park

Ngulia Safari Lodge, Tsavo West National Park

  • Accommodation
  • Tsavo West Accommodation

The Ngulia Safari Lodge is a 3-star accommodation in Tsavo West National Park , perched on the Ndawe escarpment overlooking the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary. The lodge is roughly 260 kilometres from Nairobi through the Mtito Andei Gate. You can get to the lodge using two ways that is either by road or air. Guests can fly from Nairobi to the lodge and this takes about an hour to get to the nearest airstrip where a 4×4 safari vehicle will be waiting to take you to the facility. The drive on the other hand takes about 4 to 5 hours and although it takes more time, it is a more scenic way to get to the National Park and the lodge. The lodge offers some of the most affordable and comfortable rooms to tourists visiting the Tsavo West National Park .

Safari activities available at Ngulia Safari Lodge

Other lodges at Tsavo West include the Kilaguni Serena Lodge, the luxurious Finch Hattons and the fabulous Lion’s Bluff Lodge located in the community wildlife conservancy known as Lumo.

Must-do activities while staying at the lodge include the following:

Five sister hills : exploring the hills is one of the activities that guests at the lodge should engage in. The hills are a volcanic black lava outcrop surrounded by long grass and conical hills that make up the five identical hills. This is one of the most beautiful sceneries around Tsavo West National Park and the lodge can easily arrange a trip to the hills.

Mzima springs : Mzima in Swahili means life and the reason why the springs were named Mzima because of the large crowds of wildlife it attracts including gazelles, crocodiles, elephants, giraffes and hippos among others. The water that flows to the springs is from the Chyulu hills. The spring is surrounded by thick acacia trees that are home to several bird species and monkeys and there are marked trails you can use to get to the Mzima springs and through the acacia trees.

Shetani lava flows : over 500 years ago, the locals witnessed an eruption where the fire was erupting from the ground and they believed that the devil was coming from the ground and hence named it Shetani. Currently, the black flowing lava is 8 kilometres long, 5 meters deep and 1.6 kilometres wide offering a spectacular sight to tourists.

Rhino Sanctuary : About 20 black rhinos were introduced into the Rhino Sanctuary within the vicinity of the lodge. The rhino sanctuary has a lot of security around it so do not be alarmed because the black rhino is an almost extinct species due to constant poaching by the locals.

Guided nature walks : the guided nature walks start from the well-organized garden, and through clearly marked routes where experienced tour guides will take you around the national park.

Safari Game drives : The lodge offers two game drives per day that is one in the morning and one in the afternoon. These are conducted in a 4×4 safari vehicle accompanied by experienced guides who know the best wildlife viewing spots.

Cultural visits : Cultural visits around the national park are the best ways in which tourists can get to learn more about the culture of the locals and also the perfect chance to get authentic souvenirs which help in the community development.

Birding at Tsavo West : The lodge is located directly in the path of the bird migration from Europe and Siberia during the months of October, November and December making it a very good birding spot.

Some of the best selling safari tours that we offer like our 3 days Safari from Mombasa to Tsavo East and Tsavo West , includes a stay at the  Ngulia Safari Lodge .

Accommodation at Ngulia Safari Lodge

The lodge has different rooms that are categorized according to size including deluxe, triple/family, single, and twin rooms. The Ngulia safari lodge has 52 elegant and luxurious en-suite rooms that were built in comfort, with clear and great views of the wilderness, and constructed in African style. All the 52 en-suite rooms are well-furnished and decorated with both modern and African styles including an en-suite bathroom with a flushing toilet, hot and cold baths, and showers, satellite TVs, private terraces, hair dryers, mosquito nets, fire extinguishers, ceiling fans, and clean comfortable beddings.

The cost of the rooms at the lodge varies and goes from as low as $300 and above depending on the type of room chosen and the season of travel. The cost is always high during the peak season (June to October) due to the influx of tourists and it goes lower during the wet/low season.

Facilities at the Ngulia Safari Lodge

A fireplace: There ate fireplaces at the Ngulia lodge where guests get to relax at the end of the day as they share drinks and the fire keeps guests warm during the cold nights.

A restaurant: There are two restaurants at the lodge both serving both local (African-themed) dishes and international cuisines. Three meals are served per day including continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner prepared by well-trained and experienced chefs and served by a friendly staff. Bush meals are also served at the lodge with prior communication to the restaurant. The main restaurant was built and furnished in an open-air style with views of the National Park and the nearby watering hole where the animals and birds gather.

The dining area adjacent to the restaurant is commonly known as the Leopard Dining Tree where guests enjoy their meals while at the same time enjoying the great views of the animals as they hunt, other animals cooling off and the birds as they fly from one waterhole to the next.

A bar: The lodge has two well-stocked bars one of which is known as the Leopard view bar and the pool bar. The bars open in the evening hours just in time to spot the leopards coming out of hiding to go hunt. The two bars serve different types of drinks including international beers, mocktails, wines, spirits, soft drinks and whiskeys. The pool bar overlooks the swimming pool, the rhino sanctuary and the rhino sanctuary.

Swimming pool: The blue swimming pool at the lodge is where guests get to relax and cool off during the hot season, especially during afternoon hours.

WIFI is also available at the lodge in all the rooms to ensure that all guests have clear communication with their friends and families.

Conference and meeting facilities: The lodge offers conference and meeting halls that have a sitting capacity of 30 people maximally, the halls are well aerated, have natural brightness and if you book the halls, the package comes with an LCD projector, flipchart board, snacks served with mid-morning or afternoon tea, free WIFI, a PA system, laptop, a buffet lunch is served with a soft drink, bottled drinking water per session, markers, mints, extension cables, cordless microphone, pens and pads, and paper.

Spacious gardens: The spacious gardens that are at the lodge can be used to hold large functions like wedding receptions, team building, exclusive group functions and other large meetings. Another option that is a great option, is the famous Salt Lick Lodge, in the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary if you would love to stay inside a private wilclife conservancy.

Ngulia Safari Lodge sits regally atop the Ndawe Escarpment amid the Ngulia Hills.

From this lofty vantage point, the lodge offers breathtaking panoramic vistas across Tsavo’s world-famous plains and, equally acclaimed, the world’s largest sanctuary for the endangered black rhinoceros (Dicerus bicornis).

The balcony overlooks a water-hole that attracts wildlife of all kinds. The lodge is 260 km (162 mi) from Nairobi via the park’s Mtito Andei Gate.

There are 52 en-suite rooms and each has a balcony with excellent views. Currently these rooms are being gradually enhanced by a rolling upgrade programme.

You will enjoy dining in the open-air style restaurant and snacks are available from the bars.

The restaurant, bars and swimming pool are all situated to make the most of the wonderful views across the plains to the far distant horizon. You can glimpse views of the snow-capped summit of Mount Kilimanjaro over the border in neighbouring Tanzania.

Carefully positioned lighting enables guests to watch wildlife visiting the water-hole after dark. Occasionally, you may be treated to the sight of a leopard among these nocturnal visitors.

Ngulia Safari Lodge is a particular favourite venue of the bird-watching fraternity because, during the period from October to December, it is one of the best places from which to observe many species of birds on their annual migration.

Ngulia Safari Lodge, Kenya: A Complete Review

When we were choosing a safari we decided on mid-range safari lodge accommodation. This was mainly because we were travelling with our two young nephews so we needed something comfortable and safe. Budget and family friendly were our main priorities so the first night of our safari we stayed at the Voi Safari Lodge and the second night we stayed at the Ngulia Safari Lodge, read on for our complete review.

Ngulia Safari Lodge is surrounded by the Ngulia Hills and overlooks the Ngulia Black Rhino Sanctuary in Tsavo West National Park. The lodge also has spectacular views of Mount Kilamanjaro to the west and is close to the Mzima springs attraction. We stayed at Ngulia Safari lodge on the second night of our 3-day safari and we weren’t disappointed. With 52 en-suite bedrooms all facing the African landscape of the Tsavo West National Park this 3* hotel has plenty to offer and there is no such thing as a room without a view.

Black rhinos in Africa

The lodge provided welcome drinks on arrival and each room had free bottled water which was replaced daily or on request. The lodge also had free wifi available for the guests and a private pool overlooking the African bush. We didn’t have chance to try out the pool, but it looked very clean and well-kept. The pool area had sun loungers and towels for guests to use and had a great view from the pool bar. The lodge had a large open viewing area in the leopard lounge where you could see out over the Ngulia hills and the watering hole and watch the wildlife passing through.

Our Family at the Ngulia Safari Lodge in Kenya

The rooms themselves were a little outdated but were clean and tidy with a large mosquito net over the beds. The room we stayed in was decorated in a traditional African style and had a large double bed that was very comfortable. It also had a desk area with a chair. The bathroom was basic with a toilet, sink and shower and complimentary soap and shampoo was provided along with clean towels. The water also remained on all night at this lodge.

The lodge did not have air conditioning, but in the communal areas it was completely open with no windows, and a fan was provided in each room. Each room also had a private balcony area outside with chairs where you could sit watch the wildlife. You could also prop open the door and entice in a breeze as there was a large mosquito screen covering the door. Just don’t leave the door open if you are not in the room as the baboons will come in!

The lodge had daily planned power outages between the hours of Midnight and 6am but we were told about this on arrival. We were also warned by our safari guide to charge our devices before the power went out as we would be leaving for our morning game drive before it came back on.

Elephant at Ngulia Safari Lodge watering hole

Food & Drink

The restaurant had an open side with views of the watering hole and a bar area for guests to sit after their meal. The restaurant also has the main attraction of the lodge next to it, the leopard feeding station. The style of service was an all-inclusive buffet with a small selection of dishes including a homemade soups, meat, fish and vegetarian options with vegetables, rice, pasta and potatoes. There was also a choice of homemade desserts on offer.

Drinks were not included in room rate, but were reasonably priced. The selection included tea, coffee, bottled water, soft drinks, local beers, wine and a small selection of cocktails and spirits . There weren’t many guests at the lodge when we stayed so the selection of food was limited. We didn’t mind as we appreciated that they were trying to minimise waste food and it was good to see.

Our family having lunch at the Ngulia Safari Lodge with the Ngulia hills in the background

Wildlife at Ngulia Safari Lodge

There is ample opportunity to see the wildlife from the bar, restaurant and lounge areas which were open and overlooked the watering hole. You can get up close and personal with ‘The Big Five’ as they come from miles around and you may even spot the elusive black rhinos. The rhinos were released from the Rhino Sanctuary nearby where they operate a breeding program. We spent our evening meal watching a family of elephants defending the watering hole from cape buffalo who wanted to join them.

Elephant in the forground with cape buffalo in the background outside the Ngulia Safari Lodge

Every evening a huge piece of meat is hung on a wooden frame lit with a spotlight just outside the restaurant in the hopes of attracting local leopards. We weren’t fortunate enough to see them feeding when we visited but we did see multiple leopards on our game drive. The staff at the lodge will also provide a wake-up call during the night if a leopard arrives to feed after you have gone to bed, so you don’t miss the close encounter. Our room also had a large tree outside where we could watch baboons monkeying around.

We highly recommend taking a trip to the Mzima Springs where you can spot crocodiles and hippos. And to the Ngulia Black Rhino Sanctuary from Ngulia safari lodge and supporting the local conservation efforts.

Leopard in Tsavo West National Park

Getting to Ngulia Safari Lodge

Access to Ngulia Safari Lodge is by road through the Tsavo West National park via either the Mtito Andei Gate or through Tsavo River Gate. It is 250km from Mombasa and 260km from Nairobi. For visitors preferring air travel there is a small airstrip 19km from the lodge. We were driven here as part of our tour in a 4WD vehicle by our safari guide. We travelled through the Tsavo East National Park from the Voi Safari Lodge to the Tsavo River Gate.

Attractions

  • The spectacle of Mzima Springs is the sight of fifty million gallons of crystal-clear water gushing out of the under-parched lava rocks, forming the most welcoming and lovely scene in Africa
  • Ancient lands of Lions, 1898 the Uganda railway construction was abruptly halted by the two of the most voracious and insatiable man-eating lions who appeared upon the scene, and for over nine-month waged intermittent warfare against the railway and all those connected with it in the vicinity of Tsavo.
  • A vibrant volcanic arena; molten lava that form Shetani lava spewed from the earth just about 200 years ago and its fiery fury was thought by locals to be the work of the Devil.
  • Poacher’s Lookout and roaring rocks; the Park abound the panoramic vantage point from which to view the movement of the herds.
  • Glorious game drives; Tsavo west offers some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world
  • Ngulia Sanctuary; this is where the growing population of highly endangered black rhinos is inching from the chasm of extinction forced upon them by rampant poaching in the 1960s.
  • Lake Jipe lies astride Kenya and Tanzania border and is teeming with aquatic life, Bird watching I also major activity around the lake.
  • First World War Site-East African Campaign, Perhaps the most bizarre campaign of the world war was fought in the “Bundu” (Bush) – the barely explored wilderness of thorny scrub and dense forest of Tsavo west. This last ‘gentleman war’ was waged under the code of honor-sometimes or guerilla tactics adopted from African tribal fighters. The Guided tours of the Crater, Kichwa Tembo, and Mzima fort will enable you to trail the real footsteps of the world war veterans.

Like what you see? Are you ready to plan for that amazing safari out? Lets do it!

Rules, Safety, and Etiquette

Safari West is the home of more than 800 wild animals, with all their natural behaviors and instincts. They are not trained pets, so we must act in accordance with their world rather than expecting them to understand ours. We are pleased to offer you a truly enjoyable and memorable adventure on the Sonoma Serengeti, so to get the most from your visit, please keep these few common-sense safety rules in mind and practice your wild manners.

Respect our Wild Friends

  • Please stay at least three feet back from the animal enclosures.
  • These animals are not to be touched . Be especially aware of children who may not understand that these animals are not like your pets at home. They may bite, kick or otherwise defend themselves if startled.
  • If you see anyone harassing the animals, throwing objects or poking sticks into the animal enclosures, or teasing them in any way, please alert a staff member immediately.
  • Never feed the animals. They eat special diets in the wild, and the Safari West animal staff sees that they enjoy the same appropriate foods here. Snacks that you love can be harmful to them.
  • No running! The animals interpret running as a sign of danger and are likely to panic and hurt themselves.

Safari Truck Etiquette

We recycle! Throughout the lower area of the preserve are recycling bins. Please save your plastic water bottles, soft drink cans, and other recyclables until you can dispose of them in a bin. Children who wish to sit on the top of our double-decker truck must be at least 45 inches tall. Our guides stop occasionally along the drive to allow seat changes so that everyone who wants a top-tier ride will get a turn.

Lost and Found

Safari West is not responsible for lost items. Please keep a close eye on your belongings during the course of your stay as you will be exploring a large, mostly undeveloped preserve. Should you misplace an item, Safari West maintains a Lost and Found Location at the front office. Please check with us there if you should lose (or find) anything of value.

Welcome to Safari West!

We go to great lengths to ensure that our safari adventures are accessible to everyone and in compliance with all ADA requirements. If you or a member of your family have special needs due to mobility or sensory issues, please contact us and we’ll work with you to plan your safari excursion. Safari West is indeed a special place and we will do everything possible to provide our guests with equal enjoyment of the wonderful experience offered by our park.

Our classic safari vehicles are customized Dodge Power Wagons and are not ADA accessible and unfortunately are not equipped to handle wheelchairs or other mobility assisting devices. If a guest utilizing a wheelchair can safely transfer themselves unaided or with the assistance of a family member, friend, or personal assistant, the Classic Safari Tour remains a viable option.

For guests unable to transition into the Power Wagons, we are able to provide one customized vehicle capable of accommodating most wheelchairs. It requires advanced planning and has some restrictions on seating capacity. Please contact our reservations team at 707-566-3667 to discuss options.

We currently have two fully accessible tents on property. Both rooms are fully wheelchair accessible and include appropriately equipped showers and bathroom fixtures. These rooms also feature designated parking spaces at the foot of the ramps for easy loading and unloading. They also benefit from close proximity to the restaurant, offices, and gift shop.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome at Safari West; however, due to concerns about guest safety as well as the safety of the animal collection, service animals are restricted from all safari tours and anywhere where there isn’t a barrier between the collection and our guests. While service animals are welcome to join you in our overnight accommodations, they cannot join you on tour unless you have reserved a Service Animal Serengeti Trek. This variant on the paratransit Serengeti Trek foregoes the walking portion of the tour and instead accesses as much of the lower grounds as are possible from within the paratransit vehicle.

Hearing Impaired:

In order to accommodate our hearing impaired guests, we request that arrangements for an ASL Interpreter be made at least two weeks in advance of your visit. If you would rather supply your own ASL interpreter, please let our reservations staff know and they can be added to your safari reservation at no additional charge.

Safari Tour

400 Acres of Exploration

From cheetahs to lemurs, giraffes to wildebeest, there’s always something amazing waiting just around the bend. Alongside one of our highly-trained safari guides, head out on a 3-hour excursion to get up close and personal with nearly a thousand animals. With over ninety species making their homes here, Safari West truly is Sonoma county’s very own slice of the Serengeti.

Hit the Road

Climb aboard one of our custom safari vehicles and roll out to explore the Sonoma Serengeti. From the canvas-covered shade of the truck, go in search of the marvelous megafauna of Africa. Your expert guide will track down graceful giraffes, nimble impala, imposing cape buffalo and maybe even a few hulking rhinoceros. You never know what you’re going to find!

Take a Stroll

While the view from the safari truck guarantees a great look at the herds, some animals need a more subtle approach. On the safari walk, saunter through the Amani Oasis Aviary where demoiselle cranes preen along the path and scarlet ibis soar overhead. Come face-to-face with a black-and-white colobus monkey, search out a cleverly camouflaged cheetah and watch the courtly parade of flamingos around their lagoon home.
