2023 Tata Safari facelift review: Family car with bachelor's spirit

safari which model has sunroof

  • Decent styling updates on the outside
  • Much more premium cabin than before
  • No AWD or petrol engine option
  • Tata Safari gets subtle but significant updates to its exterior styling while the cabin has been armed with newer features.

Tata Safari

The Tata Safari is the flagship model for the Indian car maker that was first introduced in the country in 2021. At that time, the focus was as much on drawing inspiration from an iconic name as was on putting a brand-new model on a pedestal. This eventually resulted in the introduction of a three-row vehicle that promised SUV-like style but claimed MPV-like comfort. Fast forward just two years and the updated Tata Safari has a new wardrobe to show off in 2023.

Tata has been steadily increasing its focus on passenger vehicles that not just drive well and have top-notch safety credentials but look cutting-edge as well. Or at least extremely contemporary. Just look at the models like Altroz hatchback, the updated Nexon compact SUV and Nexon EV or even the latest Harrier SUV. Here are cars across different body types that showcase the current best that Tata Motors' designers have to offer. And it is a treat for sure. Towards this end, the new Tata Safari has been given a noticeable makeover as well even though it obviously retains its OG flavour.

And then there is the pivotal factor of in-car features - the more, the better, even if you end up not using a significant chunk of these in the long run. The Koreans started the trend and rivals like Tata Motors are only too keen to hit back. The Tata Safari, therefore, was always going to be pampered and peppered with features galore. So how do all of these factors come together to manifest in the flagship product from Tata Motors? Here is the first-drive review of the 2023 Tata Safari facelift:

2023 Tata Safari facelift: Exterior

The updated Safari looks a tad bit more sporty compared to the outgoing model, while still retaining its largely sophisticated exterior design language. The face, for instance, has been reworked and now sports a new grille, a reworked vertical housing for the fog lamps and headlights, and a stretched DRL bar that connects the sequential DRLs on either side. In a nutshell, the comprehensive updates of the front fascia have given the SUV a butch yet premium look, making it significantly distinctive from the previous model which it has replaced.

Tata Safari

There is not much change in the side profile of the new Tata Safari SUV, apart from the reworked alloy design on the 19-inch wheels. The design is likely to evoke different reactions from different viewpoints instead of inviting unilateral awe. But what works really well is how Tata Motors' designers have managed to snub the use of chrome elements and still come up with a visually striking profile. Overall, the side profile of the SUV looks slightly curvy and pretty clean. The subtly flared wheel arches give the SUV a bold and muscular look, while the new design alloy wheels enhance the premium sporty feel.

There are no chrome elements on the rear of the Safari either, where a stretched LED bar connects the two tail lights and runs all across the length of the trunk door which, by the way, offers powered powered-open option. Besides that, the tailgate looks pretty sculpted thanks to the glossy black panel running through the centre of the trunk that also houses the sleek LED bar. The integrated roof spoiler and chunky black bumper with a thick metal skid plate are other design elements that come enhancing the SUV's bold visual appearance.

2023 Tata Safari facelift: Interior

The new Tata Safari's cabin has become much more premium now and a slew of updates to the feature list as well as to the upholstery lend the vehicle a premium appeal that would have otherwise been restricted to models in segments above the one this car competes in. The top-end Accomplished variant - or persona, as Tata Motors refers to it, comes with a dual-tone colour scheme inside the cabin but the White theme on the seats would be quite hard to maintain in pristine condition.

Tata Safari

The layered dashboard now gets an artificial wood panel which is a nice touch while the central section is dominated by a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display unit that is intuitive, puts out clear feed from the 360-degree cameras and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The map feed can also be redirected to the all-digital driver display screen for better navigation which now sports customisable layouts.

The steering wheel has also been updated and is now a four-spoke set with mounted controls and has an illuminated Tata logo on it. This is certainly another nice touch from Tata Motors enhancing the premium quotient inside the cabin of the new Safari SUV. The updated steering wheel is quite easy to operate and control the advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) functionalities that this car offers, courtesy of the layout of the control buttons on the wheel. On that note, the new Tata Safari SUV offers 11 ADAS functions in a further bid to aid driving safety and convenience.

There are plenty of other convenience features that the new Safari packs as well, whether it is the dual-zone climate control function, air purification system, ventilated seats at the front and middle, voice-activated panoramic sunroof, Alexa to Home technology or remote access to the vehicle.

Space remains the same inside the cabin of the new Tata Safari, which means that the SUV continues to be a decently spacious vehicle for passengers in all three rows. Space in that third row, however, continues to come at the cost of a compromised boot storage space. But that's really expected, right?

Tata Safari

Overall, the new Tata Safari SUV come as a very well-appointed vehicle with quite a lot of space for comfortable long trips but now, at least in the top-spec version, is significantly more premium than before.

2023 Tata Safari facelift: Safety

Tata Motors has been taking the front row across different segments in the Indian passenger vehicle market over the last few years when it comes to making safe cars. While the modern Tata cars come with a wide range of safety features, they also come with robust build quality as well. The Tata Safari facelift too comes following the same strategy.

The Tata Safari comes well-equipped with a host of safety features designed to provide peace of mind to the occupants. Some of the advanced safety technologies available onboard the Tata Safari facelift include multiple airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, electronic parking brake with auto hold, rain-sensing wipers, rollover mitigation, hill hold control, 360-degree view HD camera system, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, front collision prevention function, blind spot detection etc. Moreover, it also gets features like ABS with EBD, Isofix child seat anchors etc.

Here are some of the key safety features onboard the Tata Safari.

  • Seven airbags with six as standard
  • Electronic stability control as standard
  • Three-point seatbelts in all rows
  • Seatbelt reminder for all passengers
  • Isofix tethers
  • Seatbelts with retractor, pre-tensioner, load limiter and anchor pretensioner
  • Reinforced cabin structure promising to provide symmetric crash performance and side pole impact

Update: Keeping the trend of introducing safe cars in India, Tata Motors has delivered again with the new Safari and Harrier, as both these two SUVs have achieved five-star Global NCAP safety ratings for adult and child occupant categories. Besides that, the Tata Safari and the Tata Harrier SUVs scored a five-star safety rating at the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP or BNCAP) as well. While announcing the test results Bharat NCAP authorities have announced that the Tata Safari and Tata Harrier have scored five-star ratings with top-notch adult and child safety ratings in frontal, side and pole side impact tests.

2023 Tata Safari facelift: Performance

Here is where the updated Tata Safari SUV could have been improved so much more. But isn't. So much has already been mentioned - and experienced - about the 2.0-litre turbo diesel motor under the hood and the choice between an automatic gearbox and a six-speed manual stick. Yes, the turbocharged diesel motor could have been refined further. Yes, the grunt is still uncomfortably palpable when pushing the vehicle to its limits. But yes, the new Tata Safari - especially with the automatic transmission - is still quite a fun car to drive and has enough power to get a move on when required. The suspension continues to hold its own on rough roads and the steering still has a nice heft to aid matters.

Tata Safari

But why this otherwise very capable model does not also come with a petrol engine under its hood is beyond the comprehension of many. Tata Motors is almost snubbing the petrol-buying audience in the country, a group that is steadily increasing. There is also no 4x4 option for the updated version of the SUV because the platform on which the new Tata Safari is based on does not allow for it. But here is also a miss, especially as this model does go up against authentic off-road options in the market as well.

2023 Tata Safari facelift: Verdict

Tata Safari

The updated Tata Safari is a big step up in terms of its exterior design and cabin features and quality when compared to the previous model. Space has always been this car's strength but the additions to the feature list arm this SUV to the absolute teeth.

The diesel motor and the automatic transmission work extremely well in tandem but as mentioned previously, Tata Motors ought to strongly consider a petrol option for the model as well, especially considering the number of buyers favouring the petrol engines are increasing across India over the last few years

Engine and Performance

Left Front Three Quarter

The 2023 avatar of the Tata Safari retains the same 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic unit. This motor meets BS6 Phase 2 emissions standards and produces 168bhp and 350Nm of peak torque. The automatic transmission still works very well, with the shifts that remain quick, smooth, and in sync with the engine’s characteristics and power delivery. There is enough torque for pulling from low speeds, and the transmission's responsiveness to both upshifts and downshifts makes the driving experience enjoyable. It also gets paddle shifters, and they respond well, making the driving experience more engaging.

Engine Shot

The Eco, City, and Sport driving modes remain unchanged, offering responsive throttle inputs. The Safari has sufficient load-carrying and people-hauling capabilities in both urban and highway settings, and it can overtake effortlessly despite its size and weight. This Tata SUV remains planted and stable at triple-digit speeds, and its performance is not compromised despite being larger and heavier than the Harrier. The terrain mode selector, which efficiently alters the response through software maps, has been retained too. However, some off-road enthusiasts may argue that all-wheel drive (AWD) would have made the SUV more capable in hilly regions and slippery conditions. Nonetheless, our experience suggests that the Safari can tackle trails and rough terrain with poise for the most part.

Ride and Handling

Right Side View

The Safari's high ground clearance, tall stance, and well-tuned suspension allow it to effortlessly absorb bumps, potholes, and ruts on broken roads. Occupants are not unsettled, and there is minimal noise inside the cabin — whether driving at low or high speeds. Its robust build quality and Land Rover underpinnings are evident in its ride and handling.

Left Front Three Quarter

Previous Safari owners complained about the heavy hydraulic steering, but the new electronic power steering has addressed this issue. It feels lighter at low speeds but adds weight as the speed increases, as is also noticeable in the Sport mode. The ADAS, meanwhile, is not intrusive and gently guides the car back into the marked lane if it starts to veer off. Then, all the disc brakes provide good stopping power and work well with the emergency automatic braking system. Overall, both systems functioned flawlessly, with the adaptive cruise control responding to commands instantly.

Left Rear Three Quarter

Exterior Design

Right Front Three Quarter

Despite being a facelift, the new model has been significantly redesigned, giving it a concept-like appearance and a more upmarket feel than its predecessor. The new single grille is unique, with accents that match the exterior body colour on this version. The connected LED bar is a welcome addition, and the new squared-off headlamp housings on the re-sculpted bumper further distinguish it from the previous model.

Right Rear Three Quarter

Moreover, the new 19-inch wheels have an attractive design similar to the Sierra concept's wheels showcased at this year's Auto Expo. The rear section has been updated with tweaked taillights and a new LED bar that gets the welcome and goodbye animation in line with the front. There's also a faux skid plate on the redesigned bumper with vertically stacked reflectors and reverse light housing.

Interior and Features

Dashboard

The interior has also been updated, but the overall design remains largely unchanged. The most noticeable change is the new steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, which was first seen on the new Nexon. Tata has also addressed our previous criticism of this new steering’s horn placement, which was awkward and difficult to use. The horn has now been repositioned and is more responsive to inputs.

Front Row Seats

The new Safari also features touch controls for the AC. Other major updates to the dashboard include a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a fully digital instrument cluster. The latter gets readable fonts, fast response time, and high customisability, and is packed with information, including ADAS. The touchscreen is also highly responsive and has a clean UI, but it lacks haptic feedback and knobs for quick control.

Front Row Seats

The seating layout remains unchanged, with ample space in all rows. However, a major improvement that elevates its interior's premium feel is the high-quality materials used for the upholstery, dashboard, and most surfaces. Nothing feels cheap or out of place, and the cabin remains robust. The Safari has been known for its 'boss mode', and it continues to offer a laid-back seating position with power adjustments. The seats also get adjustable headrests for enhanced comfort. To further delight passengers, ventilated seats are now available in both rows, which will be a blessing in our hot and humid climate.

Second Row Seats

The carmaker has also taken the safety aspect up a notch. For example, all variants/personas now come standard with six airbags, while the top-spec version gets an additional driver's knee airbag. In addition, the Safari gets a 360-degree camera and a host of ADAS features, including new ones like adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, high beam assist, lane change alert, and lane departure warning. Other ADAS features include door open alert, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot detection, and rear cross-traffic alert. Additionally, other important safety features include rear collision warning, forward collision warning, and autonomous emergency braking, which worked effectively. The SUV also gets disc brakes on all four wheels.

Third Row Seats

The new Safari is also equipped with a new e-call feature for emergency assistance. With a touch of a button, the breakdown call can notify the roadside assistance service. Other impressive tech features that worked flawlessly include the new TFT cluster, terrain mode selector with TFT screen, audio controls compatible with Alexa, powered tailgate opening, and the connected car experience. Finally, whether you choose the six- or seven-seater version, every variant, from the entry-level Smart to the top-spec Accomplished+, offers a good variety of exterior colour options and material choices.

Instrument Cluster

Tata Motors wants to broaden the appeal of the new Safari with a wider range of exterior colours, including a segment-first dual-tone option, and a plethora of new features. The Safari retains its macho appearance, making it a symbol of authority while offering a premium and spacious cabin. Prospective buyers also get new technology and added connectivity, all while cocooned in safety. Tata Motors also has kept the premium reasonable, making the new Safari an easy choice for buyers, given its many appealing features.

2021 Tata Safari: Which variant to buy?

The Tata Safari launched back in February 2021, with introductory prices starting at Rs 14.69 lakh. Tata offers its flagship SUV with a sole diesel engine, two gearbox options and seven trims, which means there are a total of 11 variants to choose from. Read on to know which one of these 11 is right for you.

  • Tata Safari priced between Rs 14.69-21.45 lakh
  • Automatic option is expensive but adds convenience
  • Opt for the Safari XT for a budget manual gearbox car
  • Safari XMA is the choice for the budget conscious automatic buyer
  • Buy the Safari XZ/XZA variant if price is no object

2021 Tata Safari: Automatic or manual version

The Safari shares its 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with the Tata Harrier . In both SUVs, this unit, dubbed Kryotec 170, makes 170hp and 350Nm of peak torque, and comes with manual and automatic gearbox options.

The 6-speed manual gearbox works well with the 2.0-litre diesel engine - the clutch is relatively light and the gates are well-defined, though it isn’t among the slickest of shifters. The Hyundai-sourced 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission also gels well with the engine and does add a much-needed dose of convenience in urban environs. However, it is priced at a not insignificant Rs 1.25 lakh premium.

2021 Tata Safari XE: Well-kitted for an entry-level variant

With kit such as dual front airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), hill-hold assist, traction control, rollover mitigation, corner stability control, ABS with EBD, front and rear disc brakes and rear parking sensors, the base XE variant (Rs 14.69 lakh) doesn’t skimp in the safety department.

In terms of convenience features and creature comforts, the Safari XE does get essentials like projector headlamps, 16-inch steel wheels with covers, daytime running lights, roof rails that can carry up to 75kg, remote central locking, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering, power windows, air conditioning with second and third row vents, 12V power outlets in the second and third row, reclining second row seat backrest, 50:50 split-folding third row and a boss mode that allows the co-driver’s seat to be adjusted from the rear seats.

However, the entry-level trim is only available with the manual gearbox.

2021 Tata Safari XM: Gets an auto option

The next trim in line, the Safari XM (Rs 16.00 lakh) is also available in automatic form (XMA: Rs 17.25 lakh) and adds features like a display for the rear parking sensors, follow me home headlights, fog lamps, a rear wiper, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a six-speaker audio system, steering mounted controls, driver’s seat height adjust, electric adjust for the wing mirrors and drive modes for the engine – Eco, City and Sport.

The additional features do come at a significant Rs 1.31 lakh premium over the XE. However, the XM/XMA does get you more than necessary safety kit and a decent amount of convenience features too. If you’d prefer an automatic Safari on a budget, the XMA makes for a sensible choice.

2021 Tata Safari XT: Premium features make an appearance

Although you pay a hefty Rs 1.45 lakh premium for the Safari XT (Rs 17.45 lakh) over the XM, you do get additional safety kit and more than a few premium features. Auto headlamps and wipers, a tyre pressure monitor and a rear-view camera are on offer with this trim, along with 18-inch alloy wheels and LED DRLs enhancing its exterior. Features such as auto climate control, an eight-speaker sound system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, Tata’s iRA in-car connectivity suite (a 1-year subscription is free), power folding wing mirrors, keyless entry and go, cruise control, a rear centre armrest and ambient lighting are also available on the Safari XT.

As the Safari XT is only available in manual form, it is the best option for those who don’t mind shifting gears themselves and are on a budget.

2021 Tata Safari XT+: A panoramic sunroof is all you get

The Safari XT+ (Rs 18.25 lakh) just adds a panoramic sunroof to the XT’s list of equipment for an extra Rs 80,000. While the massive sunroof does uplift the cabin and give it a sense of airiness, it may not be for those who are more budget conscious.

2021 Tata Safari XZ: Most value for money variant

Like the XM trim, the XZ is also available with the automatic transmission option in the XZA. The Safari XZ (Rs 19.15 lakh) and XZA (Rs 20.40 lakh), add side and curtain airbags, hill-descent control, an electronic parking brake, an auto dimming rear view mirror, ISOFIX child seat anchors, 18-inch machined alloys, fog lamps with a cornering function, xenon HID projector headlamps, Oyster White leatherette upholstery, an 8.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, a nine-speaker JBL audio system, a 7.0-inch part-digital instrument cluster and Terrain Response Modes – Normal, Rough and Wet.

With this much equipment added, the Rs 90,000 premium over the XT+ is more than justified. However, the XZ and XZA variants do not get the panoramic sunroof.

2021 Tata Safari XZ+: Expensive for what it is

The fully-loaded Safari XZ+ (Rs 19.99 lakh) and XZA+ (Rs 21.25 lakh) add a sunroof to the XZ’s package. They also come with the option of getting six seats instead of seven - the second-row bench is replaced by a pair of captain’s chairs. These updates come for about Rs 85,000 more than the XZ.

2021 Tata Safari XZ+ Adventure: More popular than the XZ+

Despite the Rs 20,000 extra buyers pay for the Safari Adventure Persona (Rs 20.20-21.45 lakh), it is in higher demand than the XZ+ . That’s mostly down to the cosmetic changes on the inside - the Adventure Persona gets beige-on-black interior trim with brown leatherette seat upholstery instead of the Oyster White one. The former is seen as easier to keep clean. The Adventure edition also gets an exclusive blue colour called Tropical Mist, along with blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails and bits on the grille. Opt for the Adventure over the XZ+ if price is not a limitation.

Engine & Transmission

Timely services will keep a motor efficient and in top shape.

The official title given by the manufacturer in terms of the name of the engine, the displacement and the number of cylinders.

A bigger displacement and more than four-cylinders generally indicate a performance-oriented engine.

All cars in India either run on petrol, diesel, CNG, LPG or electric power.

Gives a good idea of the performance of the vehicle under full thrust. A higher figure here usually means a higher top speed as well.

Higher the power, the peppier the engine but it can also affect fuel economy.

Relates to in-gear acceleration. A higher figure here means better roll-on acceleration, fewer gear shifts, and possibly better fuel efficiency.

The more torque at low RPM range makes the engine feel more responsive. It also allows the engine to run smoothly without too many gear changes.

This is the maximum fuel efficiency that an engine gives. All numbers are provided by the manufacturer based on tests conducted and specified by the standards of the ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India)

Such fuel efficiency attained while driving in special conditions makes it unlikely to get it in real-world conditions

Approximate maximum number of kilometers which can be traveled on a full tank of fuel or fully charged battery

Cars come with different drivetrain configurations depending on the segment.

Front-wheel drive (FWD) is most common in mainstream cars while expensive cars or SUVs come with rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD).

Type of transmission used to transfer power from the engine to the wheels

A manually operated transmission is the most popular type, thanks to its simplicity and low cost. Varied types of automatic transmissions are also available.

Set by the Indian Government, this governs the amount of air pollutants released by cars to make the atmosphere safer for humans.

Manufacturers today offer turbochargers to boost engine power without affecting its fuel economy. Superchargers are found in more expensive cars but on the downside, they are not very efficient.

Turbochargers are more effective but require plenty of heat management. Superchargers, meanwhile, offer linear bump in power but they are comparatively more complex.

Tests reveal that electric cars are substantially more efficient than internal combustion engines.

Dimensions & Weight

The length of the car decides its segment. In India, cars that are less than 4 metres in length enjoy reduced excise duties.

  • Length: 4668

Longer length results in more cabin space. It also adds to straight line stability.

A car's width is defined as its widest point without its mirrors.

  • Width: 1922

Although more width gives you more lateral space inside the cabin, it makes the car more difficult to park in narrow spots.

The height of the car denotes the highest point of the vehicle from the ground.

  • Height: 1795

Taller the car, the more headroom there is on offer inside the cabin. However, a tall boy stance also affect the car’s centre of gravity which can cause more body roll.

The space between the center of the front and rear wheels.

  • Wheelbase: 2741

The longer the wheelbase, the more space there is inside the cabin.

The number of doors define the category of car. For example – four door means sedan, two-door means coupe while five-doors usually refer to a hatchback, MPV or an SUV.

The number of people that can be seated comfortably in the car, which has also been mandated by the car manufacturer.

  • Seating Capacity: 7

Smaller cars usually have two rows which can seat five, but some SUVs and MPVs have three rows and can seat around 7-8 passengers.

Boot space defines how practical the car is with respect to how much luggage it can carry.

  • Bootspace: 420

A boot with a large and wide opening is ideal for loading heavy items. Additionally, a lower loading height also makes it easy to put in luggage.

The official volume of the fuel tank of a car, usually denoted in litres.

If a car has a large fuel tank, it can cover long distances without refuelling.

Suspensions, Brakes, Steering & Tyres

Almost all cars in India use an independent front suspension which is usually the MacPherson Strut type.

The rear suspension can either be non-independent or independent.

Most of the budget cars have non-independent suspension while the more expensive ones get independent rear suspension which offers better bump absorption.

Most of the vehicles sold in India get ventilated or non-ventilated disc brakes upfront.

- The ventilated discs are more popular thanks to them providing better stopping power and it also works well in hot conditions.

In affordable cars, drums brakes are fitted at the rear as they are cost effective.

Disc setup at the rear is now getting more popular as cars are getting faster in the real world.

Almost all steering systems in cars today have an assist to help park them better at low speeds - these can be hydraulic, electro-hydraulic or electric.

The wheels used on cars are either steel rims with plastic wheel cover hub or alloy wheels on higher spec models or expensive cars.

Razor cut, or diamond cut alloy wheel design are not getting more popular. Manufacturers usually offer these in top-end trim of their car models.

Important in a country with varying quality of roads, spare wheels ensure one doesn’t get stranded when one of the main tyres gets damaged.

Select premium car models feature space savers (smaller than the stock wheels) to save on boot space.

The profile/dimension of rubber tyre that fits on the front wheels.

The profile/dimension of rubber tyre that fits on the rear wheels.

Mandatory safety system for cars sold in India, a single beep is emitted after 80kmph and continuous ones after 120kmph

This function detects when the car is drifting out of its lane and cautions the driver through audio/visual alerts

The brake lights flash in a quick intermittent fashion to indicate to the following vehicles to slow down quicker than usual

These enable users to repair a puncture effortlessly, saving the time/effort involved in replacing it with the spare wheel

Avoid driving on a flat/deflated wheel too long as it can cause expensive repairs

The driver is warned of an impending crash due to stopped/slowing vehicles ahead of them

This system automatically stops the car if it senses an obstacle where the driver fails to take action

It is imperative to pay attention while driving and rely less on such systems

This feature spots oncoming vehicles at night to shift the headlight between high and low beam

The official crash test safety rating given to a car by one of the many testing agencies around the world

Blind Spot Detection systems use sensors to detect and alert the driver of any sudden movements in his/her blind spot

This feature automatically steers the car to prevent it from moving out of the lane when there is no driver input

An assistance feature that alerts the driver who is backing out of a parking space if another vehicle is approaching

One must always be cautious of pedestrians, children and other obstacles when backing up.

  • Airbags 6 Airbags (Driver, Front Passenger, 2 Curtain, Driver Side, Front Passenger Side)

Safer three-point seatbelts for passengers seated in the middle of the second row of seats.

Budget cars are usually fitted with more economical lap belts for the middle-occupant.

A headrest for the middle occupant of the second-row of seats.

Budget cars are usually not offered with headrests for the middle occupant of the second-row to save on costs. Headrests are instrumental in reducing whiplash injuries in case of an accident

A digital gauge that provides the live status of the air pressure in every tyre of a car.

For accurate readings, ensure that the sensors on the rim are not tampered with during any wheel/tyre repairs

Anchor points or strap systems built into car seats to keep child seats in place, especially during a crash

ISOFIX is an international standard for child seat anchor points, but not all car manufacturers follow this standard

Mandatory fitment in cars sold in India, emits loud beeps when it detects that occupants are not wearing their seatbelts.

Seat belt warning is mandatory for front-seat occupants, but it is recommended that all occupants wear seat belts.

Braking & Traction

An electronic system that prevents the tyres from locking and skidding in emergency braking situations by pulsing the brakes (quickly releasing and reapplying the brakes)

ABS is a great accident prevention technology, allowing drivers to steer while braking hard

An electronic system that redirects braking forces among the four brakes to stop the car as quickly and stably as possible

A system that increases brake pressure to help the car stop quicker

Even when emergency braking, it is observed that drivers don’t apply maximum brake pressure through the pedal, the BA system provides additional pressure to help stop the car quicker

System designed to improve car stability and control, especially when the car is accelerating.
