Best Dinner Cruises in Fort Myers
LAST UPDATED BY Gina Birch August 16, 2021
You might think with all of the water that surrounds Fort Myers that there would be lots of dinner cruises. There ARE lots of cruises but not all provide a full dining experience. However, upscale and/or casual dining is almost always accessible on the docks before, or after your water adventure. Or you may be allowed to pack a cooler full of your favorites to carry onboard. 10Best walks you through your choices in helping to fulfill your desires for both boating and banqueting.
Perhaps the most traditional dinner cruise in the area can be found aboard the Sanibel Princess Yacht. It's a modern boat that offers the comfort of air conditioning, spacious decks and a tasty, hot buffet. You can get dressed up for a special occasion or be comfy and casual while decompressing on the calm waters.
For a little more excitement and lots of kitsch, book a trip aboard a Spanish Galleon and do some swashbuckling with the Salty Sam's Pirate Cruise . While this boat only serves salty snacks, appropriately enough, there is rum and other adult beverages for consumption, as well as several dining options on the dock.
Most of these vessels also book private parties to your specifications. Remember this is a seasonal area meaning the number and types of cruises often change, and often fill up fast. Bon Voyage!
Good Time Charters
Good Time Charters books a variety of sightseeing tours by water, out of Snook Bight Yacht Club & Marina on Fort Myers Beach. This is another BYOF (bring your own food) cruise. Want to see dolphins, manatees and other Florida wildlife? These wildlife and eco-tours mostly stay in Estero Bay and often include shelling and swimming. Sunset tours are another popular offering, with guides who give great stories of the importance of the back bay waters and their mangrove islands, from centuries ago to current times. At the dock, dine at Bayfront Bistro with a casual outdoor bar and more upscale restaurant upstairs.
Recommended for Dinner Cruises because : Hop aboard a 38-foot power catamaran with your food and beverage for a variety of tours through Estero Bay.
Gina's expert tip : If you are in town for the 4th of July, book the firework boat tour for a good view of the show.

Sunset Cruises
Sunset Cruises offers a more intimate look at the water, ecosystems and marine life in Southwest Florida. This is one of the few boat cruises that travel up the Caloosahatchee River to bird rookeries and to explore mangroves. The 40-foot Cruise Yacht offers a sun deck, a lounge area and plenty of space for your coolers, perfect for 4-6 people. Food is not served on day cruises or sunset cruises but passengers can pack as much of their favorite foods and beverages as they desire. Whether it is for a sunset or bird watching and beaching, Sunset Cruises will hook you up.
Recommended for Dinner Cruises because : This boat cruise stays on the inland waterways and is perfect for passengers who are interested in wildlife and ecosystems.
Gina's expert tip : Private charters are also available if you have a specific location or activity you would like experience.

Estero Bay Express Dolphin Tours
The 40-foot catamaran stays in the Estero Bay or "back bay" as locals call it, offering numerous types of tours to educate and entertain the entire family. The 1 1/2 hour sunset tour provides great photo ops and is an affordable $25 for adults and $15 for kids under twelve. There are also dolphin tours and a new excursion to historic Mound Key. No food is served on this cruise but you are welcomed to bring a picnic of your choice and coolers with ice are provided if you don't have one. There are numerous dining options before or after boarding the boat at the Fish Tale Marina, as well as the Fish Tale Waterfront Dining.
Recommended for Dinner Cruises because : This Catamaran cruises the "back bay" for beautiful sunsets, allowing you to pack whatever food and wine you want for the journey
Gina's expert tip : The area around this marina is typically a hot spot for Dolphin sightings.

Adventures In Paradise
Adventures in Paradise has been providing boat cruises in the Fort Myers area for about three decades. Setting sail from Royal Shell Port Sanibel Marina, it's one of the last stops before heading over the causeway to Sanibel Island. Soft drinks and water are served on board but other than that, you are on your own for food. The good news is that Adventures offers a Shelling and Lunch Excursion that takes you to Barnacles Phil's Restaurant on North Captiva; a dining spot only accessible by boat. Other boating offerings include dolphin and wildlife cruises as well as a sunset cruise. On these, feel free to pack food and drink to enjoy on your own. Or dine at the beautiful Lighthouse Restaurant back at the dock.
Recommended for Dinner Cruises because : Adventures in Paradise is one of the oldest, reliable boat tour companies in the area providing a variety of cruising options.
Gina's expert tip : Pack as much food and drink as you wish, however, there are no tables onboard for spreading out.

Salty Sam's Pirate Cruise
Join pirates including Captain Jack, Peg Leg Meg and Pick Pocket Pete, aboard the Pieces of Eight Pirate Cruise in Estero Bay. Your adventure begins at Salty Sam's Marina, just before the big bridge to Fort Myers Beach, where you can dine at Parrot Key or Shrimp Dock Bar & Grill. The 65-foot Spanish Galleon-style ship sells snack food and has a full bar; after all what respectable pirate takes to the seas without rum? The ship sails at different times starting at 9 am and going until 8 pm depending on the time of week and year. While it's mostly family-friendly, there is a 90-minute adult cruise on Friday nights. It's a fun and festive way to see the Fort Myers waterways.
Recommended for Dinner Cruises because : This cruise provides the views, the booze and the swashbuckling fun for the young and old.
Gina's expert tip : The ride is even more fun if you dress in your pirate costume. Accessories are available for purchase

Banana Bay Tour Company
This cruise launches from numerous waterfront locations including Cape Harbour in Cape Coral and the Pink Shell Resort on Fort Myers Beach. Banana Bay Tour Company is popular for its lunch cruise to Picnic Island in San Carlos Bay. If a sunset cruise is what you are looking for, pack a cooler full of your favorite food and drink or enjoy the light snacks found onboard. Otherwise, be sure to take advantage of the great dining options at the dock in both spots; Bongo's, Rumrunners, and/or Fathoms. The catered lunch cruises give great info on dolphins, the local eco-systems and allow for swimming and shelling on Picnic Island. On the way back you'll tour Mangrove Creek Forest and may even see some Manatees. Check the website for the evolving list of options and pick up locations.
Recommended for Dinner Cruises because : Take an affordable and educational lunch cruise that also allows you to swim in the waters surrounding Picnic Island.
Gina's expert tip : The only food and drink rule aboard this boat is no red wine.

Fort Myers Princess
The Fort Myers Princess is a modern, 75-foot, double-decker boat that offers party cruises, dolphin and sunset tours and special events. Located at Snug Harbour Marina, underneath the big bridge leading to Fort Myers Beach, the Princess has a full bar and offers light snacks for purchase. Enjoy the signature "Princess Punch." If you want a full belly after your two-hour Sunset Cruise, plan to dine at Nervous Nellies, also located at the Marina. This boat gets you into the Gulf of Mexico quicker than most because of it's proximity to the tip of Estero Island and the scenery is spectacular.
Recommended for Dinner Cruises because : The trip into the Gulf of Mexico for sunset doesn't take long aboard the Princess. It's spacious, with a full bar offering light snacks.
Gina's expert tip : The boat has ample space to accommodate a large party or special event.

Captiva Cruises
How does this sound to wash all your cares away; cruising on beautiful blue water, learning of its lure, watching a brilliant sunset, listening to music, drinking cold beverages and eating snacks you probably shouldn't. That's one of the many options Captiva Cruises offers for the "Sunset Serenade Cruise." The boats for the various cruises leave from both McCarthy's Marina and South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island. There is a bar on board some of the vessels as well as snacks. For lunch, reserve a seat for a sailing excursion to beautiful Cabbage Key or the exclusive Useppa Island. Captiva Cruises is always adding new trips and adventures. Schedules vary depending on the time of year so be sure to call for reservations.
Recommended for Dinner Cruises because : Not only do you get amazing views on this cruise, but you also get live music and a bar to help celebrate the sunset.
Gina's expert tip : The cruises sail from two different Marina's on Captiva Island so double check your reservation and location.

Excellent service and neat venue. We loved the Thanksgiving cruise. The food was four star.
We went on the Christmas cruise. The dinner was nice, except for poor selection of desserts. We were on the upper deck, with reggae music piped in. Very little Christmas music. Very little entertainment, since the DJ was downstairs. Mostly disappointing, considering the cost.
Very enjoyable cruise up the Caloosahatchee River through the Franklin Locks. Beautiful days with choices of inside climate controlled area or top deck with sun shelter area. We were free to walk around each deck and front to rear. Meal was simple, easy and enjoyable. Return trip featured live music that you could dance to, but Wish it could have been shared on the top deck. I, personally, would have enjoyed more history of the boat and the river area. We were fortunate, lots of room for our group of 14. Cruise director, Pepe made everyone feel welcome to have a good time. All in all, a great excursion!
I will never again recommend this cruise to anyone! thought it was Fantastic 2 years ago. So didn't know if there was a change of ownership or what! We did receive an email that they were changing where we would board the boat. which was fine. but that's not where they dropped Seniors and some handicapped people off after we returned. The food was horrible! you could barely hear the DJ. We thought we would be viewing the fireworks from the cape, coral bridge, not turn the boat around and watch the fireworks from the oxbow! we could have stayed by the oxbow and watched them from there! So the price they charged was not worth it! I very very embarrassment to have taken friends on this cruise! And there were alot of people complaining as they were getting off the boat! I tried to wait to see if I would get a response from the owner and they never responded! T. Dahl
My husband passed away 3 months ago. I was not looking forward to Thanksgiving at all. My best friend left her family in Texas to spend time with me . I decided to do something different by booking with the riverboat cruise. To my surprise, the food was great, the DJ was great and the people on board were wonderful. I had a great time. Will do it again next year.
Really had a lovely day on the river. Every single crew member goes the extra mile to be friendly and make you feel comfortable and welcome. Buffet lunch was very good. Music was excellent. Drink prices very reasonable. Would definitely do this again.
Paid quite a bit for this 4-hour luncheon cruise. So-so buffet. Nicely cruised west on the Caloosahatchee but not to the Gulf. Stopped and turned around at 2:20 and inched along (with little breeze and no narration) to home on Hendry Street. A waste of the additional hour. Bar closed up at 2:20 with 40 min. to go. We were tired and bored as we barely moved on the way back. In addition, they send an email the day before telling us to pick up our tickets at the address in Hendry. The tickets are available on the boat as you enter.
We had a very nice time on our luncheon cruise. The food was good and the staff were great!!! Always fun out on the water in Florida.
We we're on the July 4th cruise. We had a great time! The food was good, music was good, and the view of the fireworks was awesome from the water. Recommended for a fun night out.
Worst birthday meal/ experience ever. Food was worse than wet dog food. Left 40 minutes late, music was horrible 70 s music. Just the absolute worst 3 hours of my life.

Along the river: the caloosahatchee in southwest florida.
By Chelle Koster Walton
“Hills and two Caloosahatchee rivers! I swear I saw it, and I also swear I wasn’t drinking. I was merely visiting Caloosahatchee Regional Park in rural Alva,” said Amy Bennett Williams, author of Along the Caloosahatchee River.
“Odd as it sounds, yes, I saw ‘both Caloosahatchees.’ Before humans intervened, the river was shallow and meandering, overhung with live oaks and wild grapes. Then it was dredged and deepened, engineered into a straight, high-banked channel through which big boats travel with ease.
“A sunny observation deck at the park overlooks this part of the river, where you can take in a vast sweep of water and Florida sky. But another path through the park’s subtropical woods -- where you may spot a great horned owl on the wing or a whitetail doe and fawn -- leads you to a fishing pier overlooking a shady oxbow – what remains of the old, sinuous river.
“What? Hills in Southwest Florida? Across the highway, the park’s north side does have hills, created of spoil dredged decades ago from the river bottom when it was reshaped – the river’s gift to hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders.”
The town of Alva is a good place to meet the mighty 67-mile Caloosahatchee River, which connects the dots between Lake Okeechobee and San Carlos Bay at Sanibel Island . The first municipality in these parts, the eye-blink town of Alva has river water deep in its veins. On river banks, the 1886 Alva Methodist Church and 1909 library-turned-museum remember its heyday.
One of the kayak tours out of Caloosahatchee Regional Park follows the river to Hickey Creek Mitigation Park, also popular with hikers and birders. Nearby, the Franklin Locks provide opportunity for recreation – a swimming area, boat launch, and picnicking on the south side; a campground at the north park.
Upriver, en route to the Big O, the Caloosahatchee flows through the towns of Fort Denaud and LaBelle , historic burgs that time has left behind. At LaBelle’s pretty, oak-shaded riverfront park, the cracker-style Swamp Cabbage Festival has taken place for 50 years. Residents have plied these waters on cross-state travels since the time of the Calusa tribe, for which the river is named.
The river takes an entirely different direction – both literally and figuratively – once you head west of Alva. The building of Fort Myers saw Alva slip into oblivion, and the city remains the biggest on the Caloosahatchee today.
Once an important cog in the cattle shipping industry, Fort Myers got its big boost from another gift the river delivered – a man by the name of Thomas Edison. During the Caloosahatchee’s steamboat era, Edison came shopping by boat, looking for land to build a winter home and plant experimental gardens for his inventions.
When he spied one plot lined with bamboo, a plant he had in mind for light bulb filament, he scooped it up. Later, Henry Ford joined him next door. Today’s Edison & Ford Winter Estates reigns as Fort Myers’ most-visited attraction. Follow a tour with lunch or dinner at nearby Pinchers for some super fresh seafood. You can also catch a river cruise from here with Pure Fort Myers .
Downtown Fort Myers lines the southern banks of the Caloosahatchee. Scenic McGregor Boulevard, flanked with the royal palms Edison planted, carries motorists along the city’s most prestigious riverfront neighborhoods.
North Fort Myers and Cape Coral claim northern shores and some of the best opportunity for dining and lodging within eyeshot of the Caloosahatchee. Cape Coral’s Yacht Club Community Park holds a sand beach and open-air restaurant called the Boathouse Tiki Bar & Grill on the river. The restaurant serves up live music, cocktails, and righteous river fare such as fried seafood baskets, hot dogs, burgers, and chocolate key lime pie on a stick.
The bustle of industry, shipping, and boating recreation at the Caloosahatchee River's end -- in contrast with its quiet backwater feel to the east -- makes one wonder if, indeed, there may be more than just two Caloosahatchees.
